After Flirting with the God-Tier Beautiful Tycoon - Chapter 25.2
“No, I ordered room service,” Shen Xiaojiang shrugged and walked ahead, turning her back to Chen Yi. “You don’t have any food here. I was hungry, and I figured you might be hungry too, so…”
Before she could finish, she felt warmth on her back.
Chen Yi closed her eyes and hugged Shen Xiaojiang from behind.
At this moment, her heart, too, began to warm up.
“Auntie?” Shen Xiaojiang’s heart paused, and the next second, it thumped even faster.
“Can I… just hold you like this for a moment?” Chen Yi’s voice was quiet, laced with a hint of humility and pleading.
Shen Xiaojiang simply replied with an “Mhm” and stood still.
A cold, proud woman had dropped all her defenses in front of her.
Shen Xiaojiang felt a surge of tenderness.
She had an urge: she wanted to protect Chen Yi.
She raised her hands and covered the other person’s hands.
Her hands were slightly bigger than Chen Yi’s, able to completely wrap around them.
A few seconds later, Shen Xiaojiang felt that the area where Chen Yi was leaning was very hot.
It was an abnormal kind of heat.
Shen Xiaojiang held Chen Yi’s wrist and slowly turned around. “Auntie, your face feels a bit hot.”
“Ah, does it?” Chen Yi shyly turned her face away.
In the light, Shen Xiaojiang noticed that the other person’s face was unusually red.
Not blush, and definitely not shyness.
Suddenly, she remembered something and used the back of her hand to touch Chen Yi’s forehead.
When touched, the other person flinched a little.
That slight movement was indescribably charming and delicate.
Shen Xiaojiang’s heart pounded wildly, unable to look away.
But this wasn’t the time to think about that.
Because Chen Yi’s forehead was incredibly hot.
Her instinct told her that Chen Yi had a fever.
Shen Xiaojiang didn’t immediately pull back her hand. Instead, she cupped the other person’s face and said reluctantly, “Auntie, you have a fever.”
“I don’t have a cold, and I don’t feel unwell anywhere,” Chen Yi used her other hand to touch her face. “It’s fine. It was like this last night, too.”
“Last night?” Shen Xiaojiang was surprised.
How careless could a person be to ignore her own fever?
“It’s okay, I’m used to it.” When Chen Yi said this, a hint of sorrow and helplessness flashed in her eyes.
Used to it?
Shen Xiaojiang murmured the words internally.
She could almost imagine Chen Yi’s life: nothing but work and social obligations, absolutely no time to take care of herself.
She gritted her molars, tenderly taking Chen Yi’s hand and leading her toward the bed. “You had the rabies vaccine, it’s possible to develop a fever.”
Chen Yi’s heart skipped a beat, and she stared blankly at Shen Xiaojiang’s retreating back.
“You sit here and rest first, wait for me.” After Shen Xiaojiang said this, she turned and returned with a cup of hot water in her hand.
Chen Yi took the hot water, looked at Shen Xiaojiang, and asked with a smile, “Why water? Didn’t you say you warmed milk for me?”
Shen Xiaojiang looked at the cup in Chen Yi’s hand and replied, “You should drink water first. If you’re taking fever reducers, it’s best not to drink milk, in case of lactose intolerance.”
Chen Yi blinked. “But I don’t have any fever reducers here.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Shen Xiaojiang turned to grab her phone. “I’ll go buy some now.”
“Ah? It’s very late!” Chen Yi’s eyelids drooped, her effort to stay awake making her look pitiful and helpless.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon.” Shen Xiaojiang finished and turned toward the door.
Chen Yi’s heart tightened. Those were the exact words she had said to Shen Xiaojiang a few hours ago.
“It’s late. Aren’t you going back to your dorm?” Chen Yi asked.
Shen Xiaojiang’s action of putting on her shoes suddenly stopped. She looked up, saw the tub of strawberry-flavored lollipops on the shoe cabinet, and countered, “Do you want me to go back?”
Chen Yi’s hand, gripping the cup, trembled.
It was the first time someone had answered her question with another question.
After a few seconds of silence, she finally spoke softly, “Come back quickly.”
Shen Xiaojiang tied her shoelaces and smiled faintly. “Yes, ma’am.”
“Meow~”
Princess lazily jumped off the sofa.
Before the door closed, Shen Xiaojiang turned and poked her head back in. “Don’t be afraid, Auntie. I already checked Princess. She had some bloating before, but she’s better after the gas relief exercises. She won’t attack you again.”
Chen Yi’s tired eyes focused back on Shen Xiaojiang’s face, and she nodded in trust.
In truth, it was very rare for Shen Xiaojiang to go out so late.
She didn’t know where to buy medicine or if she could really be quick.
But she wanted to promise Chen Yi, to put her mind at ease.
Fortunately, there was a 24-hour chain pharmacy not far from Xinghui Hotel.
When she returned to the room, Chen Yi was still sitting in the same spot.
She was tilting her head, squinting her eyes, looking as though a gentle nudge would cause her to immediately fall over asleep.
“Auntie, I’m back,” Shen Xiaojiang said softly. “Please take the medicine before you sleep, okay?”
Hearing the voice, Chen Yi painfully opened her eyes.
She forced a smile. “I’m really fine. I’ll be better after a good night’s sleep.”
Chen Yi never let anyone see her in a vulnerable state; even moments ago in front of He Zhong, she pretended nothing was wrong.
“Don’t be strong. You can say you’re tired. You can tell me you’re uncomfortable.” Shen Xiaojiang handed the fever reducer to Chen Yi, her expression as gentle as possible.
“I… can I?” Chen Yi’s voice was very soft.
She finished speaking and looked up at Shen Xiaojiang.
She didn’t know why, but she actually wanted to show weakness to Shen Xiaojiang.
“Of course you can,” Shen Xiaojiang met Chen Yi’s gaze. “Here, take the medicine.”
Chen Yi looked at the medicine, then at Shen Xiaojiang.
She knew in her heart that some things might have already spiraled out of control.
Maybe just as He Zhong had said…
But so what?
“I don’t want to take the medicine,” Chen Yi bit her lower lip, the corners of her narrow eyes glistening with moisture. She asked with a wronged, pitiful look, “Shall we… continue?”
