After Flirting with the God-Tier Beautiful Tycoon - Chapter 13
As soon as Shen Xiaojiang sat in the car, she smelled a scent that was uniquely Chen Yi’s.
Cool and distant.
Dangerous, yet captivating.
“Auntie,” Shen Xiaojiang spoke first, “is there anything else?”
Chen Yi’s movements as she handled the steering wheel were graceful. A jade ring was on her right index finger, and a white jade bangle encircled her slender wrist.
Shen Xiaojiang didn’t study jewelry, but she had heard things.
That one right hand of Chen Yi’s, conservatively estimated, was worth six figures.
“No,” Chen Yi’s voice was soft, not loud, and her speaking pace was slow.
“Then…” Shen Xiaojiang didn’t continue.
The red light flickered, and the green light came on.
Shen Xiaojiang’s father was always nervous when driving, and she had long grown accustomed to not initiating casual conversation while the driver was focused on the road.
Chen Yi drove through the intersection, one hand resting on the window frame and the other adjusting the steering wheel, and said gently, “You’re heading back to school, right? It’s on my way, I’ll take you part of the way.”
“Oh,” Shen Xiaojiang nodded, looking serious. “Then… where are you planning to drop me off?”
Chen Yi paused for a moment, then curved her eyebrows into a smile and chuckled, “Where else but the school, of course.”
Shen Xiaojiang subconsciously replied, “Ah, didn’t you say you’d take me part of the way?”
The last time they had dinner, Sun Jiabao mentioned to Chen Yi that Shen Xiaojiang’s thought process was different from others aside from academics, she was truly blunt and rigid.
Today, Chen Yi got to witness it firsthand.
Chen Yi pressed the hand resting on the window frame into her own hair, her laugh revealing a hint of casual indifference. “Little one, when I said ‘part of the way,’ I meant it figuratively.”
“Little one?” Shen Xiaojiang repeated softly.
“Hmm?” Chen Yi hummed lightly.
Shen Xiaojiang shook her head. “Nothing. Thank you, Auntie.”
For the next few minutes, the two fell into silence.
Shen Xiaojiang looked out the car window at the neon lights blurring into lines and the camphor trees flashing past quickly, her mind full of thoughts.
In truth, it had been a long time since anyone had called her “little one.” The term was so ancient it felt unfamiliar.
This society demands that every child grow up and mature too early, yet it offers them no time to adjust.
Relationships between people are becoming increasingly complicated, pragmatic, and self-serving. There are truly too few people who still treat you like a child.
Shen Xiaojiang looked at Chen Yi through the car window.
She had only known this woman for two days, and they hadn’t exchanged many words in total.
Yet, she felt as if they had known each other for a very long time.
Soft, soothing music began to play in the car at some point.
It was pleasant to listen to.
Shen Xiaojiang turned her head and stared at the display screen for a while.
“’A Flowing Somberness’,” Chen Yi said.
The English pronunciation was perfectly British.
Chen Yi didn’t usually listen to music; this gesture was purely to ease the awkwardness.
Shen Xiaojiang looked up at her and gave a small “Mm.”
The next second, feeling her response was too perfunctory, she added, “It’s very nice.”
Chen Yi immediately responded, “As long as you think it’s nice.”
It seemed Chen Yi could smoothly continue any topic. Perhaps, being with her meant you would never be bored.
Only then did Shen Xiaojiang notice that Chen Yi was still wearing tinted sunglasses.
Wearing sunglasses late at night wasn’t that unnecessary?
“Um… Auntie, may I ask you a question?”
Chen Yi nodded.
“Why are you still wearing sunglasses right now?” Shen Xiaojiang, unable to keep things bottled up, asked the question after all.
“This?” Chen Yi lifted her sunglasses slightly. “Wearing sunglasses late at night is that unnecessary?”
“Uh… yes,” Shen Xiajiang wasn’t very skilled at conversation.
She had great popularity and many friends, but they all looked down on Shen Xiaojiang’s way with words.
Chen Yi chuckled gently, then took off her sunglasses. “My mind was on you, and I forgot to take them off.”
As she spoke, the traffic light turned red.
She stopped and turned her head to look at Shen Xiaojiang, her eyes reflecting the beautiful streetlights outside the window.
Shen Xiaojiang’s breath hitched, and her heart rate sped up.
In this moment, she let down all her guard. If Chen Yi was a whirlpool, a bottomless abyss, she was willing to sink into it.
The car stopped at the entrance to the dormitory building.
Shen Xiaojiang prepared to get out.
Chen Yi, however, didn’t immediately unlock the doors.
She lowered the music volume significantly and took out her phone. “We haven’t exchanged contact information yet, have we?”
Shen Xiaojiang said “Oh” and quickly took out her own phone.
Unexpectedly, her phone was dead.
Are you kidding me!
Phone, my lord, you can’t run out of battery at a time like this!
“It’s dead…” Shen Xiaojiang felt her composure slipping.
She hadn’t finished her sentence when she saw Chen Yi pull a black pen from the center console.
“I apologize,” Chen Yi tilted her head and pouted, her eyes looking lazy, and her tone slightly rising it was even a bit cute. “I just ran out of tissues in my car.”
Shen Xiaojiang’s brain always short circuited when faced with a beautiful woman, and at this moment, she was completely mesmerized by the other woman’s gaze.
She made a snap decision, rolled up her sleeve, and said, “Here, write it here.”
“Are you sure?” Chen Yi’s eyes were long and narrow, the classic phoenix eyes, possessing the classical charm of an Oriental beauty.
Her perfectly tailored peacock blue suit made her face appear snow-white, like a spirit in the dark night, exuding a captivating mystery.
Shen Xiaojiang nodded without a second thought. “I’m sure.”
Chen Yi laughed hoarsely, lowered her gaze, and her thick, long eyelashes cast a faint shadow on her cheek.
She gently pinched Shen Xiaojiang’s finger; the chill ran directly from her fingertip to her heart.
Shen Xiaojiang shivered slightly, a layer of fine goosebumps rising on her back.
Chen Yi hadn’t started writing yet. She slowly raised her head and glanced at Shen Xiaojiang. “Maybe let’s forget it. I’ll just send it to Sun Jiabao.”
With that, she made to withdraw her hand.
“I don’t want to use someone else’s help for this kind of thing,” Shen Xiaojiang said out of nowhere, grabbing Chen Yi’s wrist all at once. “Write it.”
“What kind of thing is this kind of thing?” Unlike before, this time, Chen Yi’s smile reached her eyes.
She bit her lip, then laughed and bent down, writing eleven Arabic numerals in a flourish.
It tickled.
But Shen Xiaojiang trembled and held it in.
Help!
Shen Xiaojiang nearly hallucinated. She thought she saw Cupid’s angel shoot an arrow directly into her heart.
The blood throughout her body was flowing with a sweet and ambiguous surge of emotion.
She felt like she could open her door and offer porridge to the needy, bringing salvation to all living beings, in this very moment.
“There you go, little one.” Chen Yi put the black pen away, a full smile on her lips. “The same number for WeChat.”
Shen Xiaojiang pursed her lips and nodded forcefully.
Chen Yi raised her hand to tuck her hair behind her ear, then looked at the motionless Shen Xiaojiang.
Their eyes met, and Shen Xiaojiang’s ears gradually began to heat up.
Chen Yi’s ears were very small, and her earlobes were tiny. Perhaps it was the lighting, but her earlobes were tinged with a faint pink.
Her neck was very slender, and with every breath, her prominent neck bone was visible, making her incredibly sexy and enchanting.
As the saying goes, beauty lies in the bone, not just the skin.
Shen Xiaojiang stared at the other woman’s throat, forcing herself to swallow.
The sound “Gulp” was somewhat comical in the quiet car.
Shen Xiaojiang was so embarrassed she felt like her toes were curling up.
Chen Yi leaned in, pulling down Shen Xiaojiang’s shirt sleeve with both hands. Her curled eyelashes seemed to hold the moonlight, and her voice was exceptionally gentle. “It’s still chilly in spring, little one. Don’t catch a cold.”
