After Flirting with the God-Tier Beautiful Tycoon - Chapter 11
The next morning, everything was business as usual.
“Oh no, Shengjiang, your dark circles…” Sun Jiabao’s words were cut short by a murderous glare from Shen Xiaojiang.
Although Shen Xiaojiang was usually sharp-tongued, she had never shown an expression like that before.
All the underachievers in the dorm owed her a favor, so when Shen Xiaojiang was in a bad mood, no one dared to provoke her.
Shen Xiaojiang didn’t smile until class started.
The four of them had a small group chat, but the other three only dared to offer “sympathy and concern” there.
[Chen Xingnan: What’s wrong with our Xiaojiang?]
[Liu Wei: Looks like she had insomnia.]
[Sun Jiabao: It’s all my fault. If it weren’t for me, she wouldn’t have been harassed by that mommy’s boy.]
[Chen Xingnan: What, what? Elaborate. Eating melon.jpg]
Shen Xiaojiang frowned and retaliated with an emoji.
[Shen Xiaojiang: 40-meter animated broadsword.jpg]
[Sun Jiabao: Oh, what a coincidence, you’re in the group too. Dog head.jpg]
[Shen Xiaojiang: Don’t mention that disgusting guy again. If you do, I’ll leave the group.]
Sun Jiabao chuckled mischievously, oblivious to the danger.
[Sun Jiabao: Senior Gao Pengyuan said you’re pretty, quiet, an excellent student, and have no bad habits you’re his type.]
Sun Jiabao hadn’t even sent her next message when she saw “The other party has left the group chat.”
She shot up abruptly.
The professor, who was lecturing, looked at her in confusion, “Student, do you have a question?”
Sun Jiabao awkwardly sat back down, seeing Chen Xingnan and Liu Wei laughing at her.
She nudged Shen Xiaojiang with her elbow and whispered, “I won’t mention it again.”
Looking at Sun Jiabao’s new group chat invitation, Shen Xiaojiang suddenly realized she didn’t even have a single contact method for Chen Yi.
Her heart sank again.
After class, Shen Xiaojiang and her roommates grabbed a quick bite at the cafeteria and rushed to Feifei Pet Shop.
The owner of the pet shop was a woman, a sea turtle master’s degree holder from a wealthy family. She opened the shop just to have something to do, so she was usually not around and quite laid-back.
However, her hourly wage was relatively high, having increased from the initial 23 yuan to 40 yuan.
Shen Xiaojiang had been working here since the second half of her freshman year, working four days a week, six hours a day.
Excluding tuition, living expenses, and other necessary costs, and with her scholarship, she would soon save her first ten thousand yuan.
Although ten thousand yuan was not a large amount, it was very significant to Shen Xiaojiang.
Shen Xiaojiang was born into a well-off family in a small city.
As an only child, she was deeply loved, and her parents always gave her the best food and drinks within their means.
Her parents provided her with the best they could afford.
To lighten her parents’ financial burden, she decided to stop taking living expenses from home and earn money herself through work.
“You’re here, Xiaojiang.” Sister Meng was grooming a Pomeranian.
“Sister Meng, how are you feeling today?” Shen Xiaojiang jogged over, already sweating on her forehead.
“Not bad,” Sister Meng replied.
Shen Xiaojiang grabbed a tissue to wipe her sweat.
Suddenly, she remembered the scene of meeting Chen Yi at Blue Bay KTV last night.
The person had also handed her a tissue at the time.
Shen Xiaojiang had never seen anyone around her use that kind of tissue; it was quite thick, at least four layers, with light-colored imprints and a very high-class fragrance.
“Xiaojiang, what are you thinking about?” Sister Meng’s voice snapped Shen Xiaojiang back to reality.
“Huh?” Shen Xiaojiang threw away the sweat-drenched tissue, pulled her apron from the rack, “N-nothing.”
Sister Meng didn’t press and lowered her head to continue her work.
A moment later, she said, “You seem a little different today.”
Shen Xiaojiang paused, began registering the newly arrived dog food and cat litter, and pretended to be nonchalant: “How am I different?”
Sister Meng chuckled, “Can’t say, in love?”
“I am not!” Shen Xiaojiang unconsciously raised her voice, then felt it was inappropriate and slightly lowered it, “Where would I find the time?”
Sister Meng smiled without speaking.
There was no definite relationship yet, so how could she say she was in love?
Maybe the other person didn’t think of it at all, and it was just her own unrequited affection as a girl in her puberty?
Wait, was she in love?
Did she like Chen Yi?
Shen Xiaojiang bit the corner of her lip, took a few deep breaths, and said insincerely, “What’s so great about dating? Isn’t making money much better!”
Sister Meng continued to smile without speaking.
In the following days, Shen Xiaojiang’s life was a two-point line: school and the pet shop.
She didn’t go back to the KTV and didn’t see Chen Yi again.
Everything seemed to have returned to normal.
Today, Shen Xiaojiang came to the shop to help out immediately after class, as usual.
The atmosphere in the shop was a bit strange. The boarding dogs were barking chaotically; although the sound was not loud, their fear was palpable.
A cat was lying on the grooming table, but Sister Meng was nowhere to be seen.
“Sister Meng?” Shen Xiaojiang didn’t think much of it and called out twice before going to put on her apron.
An American Shorthair in the drying machine was almost cooked.
Shen Xiaojiang immediately turned off the machine and took the cat out.
Just as she was about to say something, she turned and saw Sister Meng collapsed on the floor, with bloodstains on her beige pants.
“Sister Meng!”
Shen Xiaojiang was startled, quickly put the cat in the cage, and dialed 120.
In the ambulance, Shen Xiaojiang felt the fragility of life for the first time.
She held Sister Meng’s hand, her vision blurred with tears.
After a three hour operation, Sister Meng gave birth to a baby girl, seven pounds and eight ounces. Due to high jaundice, she was temporarily in an incubator for phototherapy.
Other than that, all vital signs were normal.
However, Sister Meng was still unconscious due to excessive blood loss.
Shen Xiaojiang stayed by Sister Meng’s bedside, not leaving for a moment.
Because of the lack of a family member’s signature and other necessary procedures, Sister Meng could only stay in a temporary bed.
Shen Xiaojiang didn’t know any of Sister Meng’s family, nor did she have their contact information.
She was encountering this situation for the first time, and other than waiting patiently, she didn’t know what to do.
Just as Shen Xiaojiang went out to register information, she happened to hear a nurse asking for blood types in each room.
“Hey, miss, what’s your blood type?” The nurse quickly came up to her.
Shen Xiaojiang paused, staring blankly at the nurse’s eyes.
Speaking of blood type, this was quite miraculous.
Shen Xiaojiang had the extremely rare Rh-negative blood, commonly known as “Panda Blood.”
It was not an exaggeration to call her a walking national treasure.
“I am Rh-negative…” Before she could finish, the nurse grabbed her hand, too excited to speak.
After a long while, the nurse came to her senses, “Come on, let’s save a life!”
Shen Xiaojiang, who was one meter seventy-four tall, suddenly lost her balance and was pulled along by the shorter nurse.
“Hey, hey, hey, wait, what’s going on!” Shen Xiaojiang was strong and easily stopped the nurse.
The young nurse’s face flushed red, “Sorry, I was too excited and didn’t have time to explain,” she swallowed and continued: “An aunt upstairs is having surgery. She has the rare Panda Blood. Our hospital’s blood bank doesn’t have enough blood, and we’re already contacting other hospitals for help, but the patient is on the operating table and can’t wait too long, so we came down to search, just trying our luck.”
The young nurse looked at Shen Xiaojiang with hopeful eyes, and Shen Xiaojiang looked back at her.
“Miss, please help, okay?” The young nurse pleaded earnestly.
Shen Xiaojiang, of course, knew the importance of the matter. She looked back at Sister Meng’s room, her eyes showing concern.
“Which room is your family member in?” The young nurse noticed Shen Xiaojiang’s worry.
Shen Xiaojiang answered: “706, Meng Jing.”
The young nurse said righteously, “Alright, you don’t need to worry. We will inform the head nurse.”
Shen Xiaojiang was thus taken to the sixteenth floor.
As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she was surrounded by a group of people, much like a celebrity being mobbed at the airport.
The difference was that these people were all dressed in suits and ties, looking serious and grim.
The pressure was terrifyingly low.
“Move aside, move aside, the Panda Blood is here, the Panda Blood is here!” The young nurse’s loud announcement was heard by almost everyone.
The group of originally high-pressure people instantly became excited and made way for Shen Xiaojiang.
Passing through the crowd, Shen Xiaojiang arrived at the blood donation room.
As soon as she entered the door, she smelled a familiar, pleasant fragrance. This scent permeated the blood donation room, which was full of disinfectant smell, making it stand out.
It was like a sweet spring poured into barren land.
Shen Xiaojiang didn’t have time to think much as two doctors intercepted her line of sight.
“Shen Xiaojiang, right?” The doctor asked while preparing the supplies.
“Yes.” Shen Xiaojiang looked at the men in suits just outside the door, suddenly feeling a little nervous.
“Any history of anemia or fear of blood?” the doctor asked again.
Shen Xiaojiang shook her head.
The familiar, pleasant fragrance was getting closer.
Suddenly, a woman in a peacock blue suit stepped forward.
“Shen Xiaojiang?”
Upon hearing the voice, she snapped her head up and met Chen Yi’s eyes.
How to describe that look?
Shen Xiaojiang racked her brain.
Although she hadn’t met Chen Yi many times and their interactions were few, Chen Yi’s gentle, watery eyes were practically etched into her DNA.
She was sure that today’s Chen Yi was different from usual; her eyes were cold.
There was even a hint of ruthlessness.
Separated by a few meters, Shen Xiaojiang felt like she was frozen.
Before she could answer, Chen Yi asked again, “You’re Panda Blood?”
Her tone was full of disbelief, and her voice was still ice-cold.
All these abnormalities made Shen Xiaojiang feel estranged.
She nodded mechanically.
After a series of urgent blood tests, Shen Xiaojiang prepared to donate blood.
This was her first time donating blood in her life, and even though she was usually carefree, she was scared now.
At this point, Chen Yi stopped the doctors’ operation.
“Boss Chen, about this?” The doctors looked down, knowing they couldn’t act rashly without Chen Yi’s approval.
He Zhong looked troubled; the person lying on the operating table was his mother.
Chen Yi glanced at Shen Xiaojiang, then brushed her hair aside and walked out.
He Zhong and the lead surgeon followed closely behind.
“In this massive city of Nancheng, you can’t get four hundred milliliters of Panda Blood?” Chen Yi asked.
The lead surgeon replied, “We don’t have that much surplus at the moment.”
“How is that possible?” Chen Yi leaned a hand on the window frame, the wind blowing her hair away, “I’ll pay a high price.”
The doctor honestly answered, “It’s not about money now.”
The doctor looked at He Zhong and continued, “It’s about time. Time is life. One hospital does have that much surplus, but it would take twenty minutes for an emergency delivery, and General Manager He’s mother can’t wait that long.”
Upon hearing this, Chen Yi’s furrowed brow gradually relaxed.
She looked at He Zhong, “What do you think?”
He Zhong had known Chen Yi since he was sixteen. He had been her deputy since she officially took over the Venus Bar.
He had never disobeyed Chen Yi’s wishes.
Never.
But the person lying on the operating table was his biological mother, so he couldn’t help but feel conflicted.
Chen Yi, of course, knew that time was life and that He Zhong’s mother couldn’t wait those twenty minutes.
She gritted her teeth and waved her hand, “Forget it, don’t answer. Use Shen Xiaojiang’s blood.”
Hearing this, the doctors quickly went to prepare.
He Zhong looked up, tears welling up in his eyes, “Qiye, I…”
Chen Yi pulled a cigarette from her pocket and said calmly, “No need for thanks. Just spend more time with your mother in the future.”
“Except,” she narrowed her eyes, “don’t you think all of this is too much of a coincidence?”
He Zhong understood Chen Yi’s meaning and said slowly, “I’m also puzzled as to why Shen Xiaojiang would be at the hospital right now.”
“I’ve observed her these past few days. She seems very simple, but I can’t see through her,” Chen Yi lightly flicked the ash from her cigarette and looked into the distance. “If she was planted by a competitor, then she is indeed a formidable character, because of the blood donation incident, I will be very passive when dealing with her later.”
“What if…” He Zhong respected Chen Yi, looked up at her, and immediately looked down again, “What if she isn’t?”
Chen Yi’s hand, flicking the ash, stiffened, and after a moment, she spoke, “Then that would be troublesome.”
“Qiye, what do you mean?” He Zhong frowned.
Chen Yi saw the No Smoking sign, extinguished the cigarette with her bare hand, and said with deep eyes, “Her eyes resemble someone I don’t want to owe a favor to.”
