After Falling for the Handsome CEO - Chapter 40
Chapter 40: You’ll Get Hurt
Given Yan Yu’s status and upbringing, when had he ever been slapped and punched like this, let alone cursed at in such a way?!
Yan Yu felt like he was going insane with rage. He roared back, “If I’m not a man, then what the hell are you?!”
At the same time, he wished he could strangle Shen Jin. If it weren’t for that man, none of this mess would be happening!
Damn him! He certainly had talent—even someone like Bai Yujin was willing to fly into such a rage for his sake!
…
Shen Jin knew that Bai Yujin had handled all his medical expenses while he was hospitalized. He felt incredibly guilty, but he hadn’t asked Bai Yujin directly because he knew the other man wouldn’t want to talk about the cost.
So, after Bai Yujin left, he quietly slipped out of the ward. He intended to inquire about the bills so that once he was back at work, he could earn the money to pay him back.
He never expected to suddenly encounter Yan Yu and Xie Li in the hospital. Their intimate behavior stung his eyes, and for a moment, he lacked the courage to face them, choosing to hide temporarily…
Because of this, he heard every single word Yan Yu used to insult him, missing nothing.
He watched until the two men began to brawl recklessly. He heard Xie Li’s cries and Yan Yu’s voice commanding the security guards not to interfere… It all left him feeling utterly powerless. He could only clutch his head, his weak lips moving: Since it’s like this… why are you… so angry…
Perhaps Yan Yu wasn’t even angry for his sake, but simply felt his pride had been wounded…
Shen Jin knew his own worth. If the guards couldn’t pull them apart, what effect would he have if he rushed over? Especially since he had just woken up after days of being bedridden; he was still a frail, weak patient.
But…
Shen Jin closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Still, he forced his trembling legs to stumble forward. Using his throat, which was still raspy from crying days ago, he called out hoarsely, “Stop fighting! Both of you!”
Bai Yujin, locked in a struggle with Yan Yu, looked over in surprise. “Why are you out here!”
In the split second that Bai Yujin got distracted by Shen Jin, Yan Yu seized the opportunity and slammed a heavy fist into his face!
Yan Yu also shot a quick glance at Shen Jin. He wasn’t sure why the man was in the hospital wearing a patient’s gown, but surprise aside, he didn’t forget he was in a fight. He had no intention of stopping, continuing to swing his fists relentlessly!
“Are you crazy!” Bai Yujin cursed. Even though he intended to stop after hearing Shen Jin, he couldn’t just stand there and let Yan Yu pummel him; he had no choice but to keep fighting back.
Xie Li stood to the side, his mind racing. When he saw Shen Jin appear, he froze for a moment before a spark of inspiration hit him. He cried out to Shen Jin, “What do we do? What do we do?! No one can pull them apart! Shen Jin, talk to President Bai quickly! Aren’t you two close? He’ll listen to you!”
“Bastard!” Hearing those words, Yan Yu’s eyes turned bloodshot, and he fought even harder.
Shen Jin didn’t know Xie Li, nor did he know how the man knew his name, but now was not the time for such thoughts. He dragged his heavy body toward them, his voice filled with anxiety. “But… but they won’t listen!”
They weren’t just refusing to listen; the fight was getting more brutal. Both men were already becoming bruised and swollen!
Seeing Yan Yu getting hurt, Xie Li’s heartache was real, but so was the spiteful urge to teach Shen Jin a lesson.
Thus, he hurriedly grabbed Shen Jin’s hand and said, “What do we do! Someone’s going to get killed if this keeps up! Hurry and pull them back! Separate them!”
If the brawny security guards couldn’t separate them, how could a sickly man like Shen Jin?
But Xie Li didn’t care about that. While the two were locked in their inseparable struggle, he “accidentally” shoved Shen Jin forward from his position—
Bai Yujin’s pupils shrank instantly. “Get out of the way!”
But the warning came too late. Shoved suddenly by Xie Li, Shen Jin’s foot slipped on a glass cup that had been shattered during the brawl. He stumbled and fell directly between the two men. Immediately following his fall, Yan Yu’s full-force punch—intended for Bai Yujin—slammed violently into the side of Shen Jin’s head.
Shen Jin’s vision went black. Fresh red blood instantly leaked from his ear. Due to the sheer force of Yan Yu’s punch, his body was sent flying to the side. His head hit the hard marble floor with a sickening thud, and blood began to pool beneath him…
His body lay limp and powerless in the growing crimson puddle. His eyes rolled back, and just as they were about to close, he caught a blurred glimpse of Yan Yu’s stunned, ghostly-pale face. He used the last shred of his strength to move his lips:
“Don’t… fight… anymore. You’ll… get… hurt…”
