After Falling for the Handsome CEO - Chapter 2
Chapter 2: A Sweetness Just Like Yours
After fumbling through those humiliating lines, Shen Jin felt as though his soul had left his body; he instantly became a deflated balloon.
He had grown up in an orphanage, leaning on his younger sister for support. Since middle school, he had been naively working odd jobs to make money. In high school, his grades slipped because he was too busy working, leading him to get into an unremarkable—and expensive—university.
Consequently, he dropped out after two years to earn more money for his sister’s education. But this year, she was diagnosed with a medical condition that required a fee of about 100,000 yuan.
To Shen Jin, 10,000 yuan was a mountain; 100,000 was an impossibility.
That was why he had chosen this undignified trade—planning to seduce Yan Yu, spend one night with him, and take the 100,000 yuan.
But now, his clumsy and faltering performance left him disheartened. He felt it was likely a lost cause. Too embarrassed to even look at Yan Yu for fear of being mocked for his pathetic acting, he could only lower his head and take several gulps of his cocktail.
Two long, handsome fingers tapped lightly on the bar in front of him. A husky, sexy voice drifted down from above, laced with a faint smile: “Your drink is gone. You’ve hit the bottom of the glass.”
Shen Jin looked up and met Yan Yu’s beautiful phoenix eyes. They were deep, their irises absorbing the colorful, flickering lights of the bar like a vast starlit sky.
It was breathtaking.
Shen Jin couldn’t help but stare blankly.
Yan Yu enjoyed being stared at, but he still spoke up with a teasing lilt, “You just said you wanted to treat me to a drink, and now you’ve gone silent?”
Snapping back to reality, Shen Jin felt awkward. “No, I…”
“Hmm?” Yan Yu arched an eyebrow and smiled slightly. “Are you backing out? You shouldn’t break your word.”
“No, no!” Shen Jin shook his head frantically. His gloom vanished instantly. Seeing that there was still a chance, he nodded eagerly. “I’m treating! What I said… it counts!”
“Alright then.” Yan Yu rested his arms lazily on the bar. The mirth in his phoenix eyes deepened, and the curve of his lips was indescribably seductive. He glanced at the wine list and said unhurriedly, “Then I’ll have a glass of Château Lafite Rothschild.”
Shen Jin didn’t know anything about wine names, so he followed the man’s gaze to check the price. In that instant, he felt like his heart had stopped beating—
Château Lafite Rothschild: ¥6,000 / glass.
Shen Jin: “???!!”
What kind of international joke is this?!
In a panic, Shen Jin lunged forward and grabbed Yan Yu’s hand, stammering, “Wait!! That… that wine… it’s not good!! It tastes terrible!”
Yan Yu looked down at the hand gripping his own. His eyes narrowed imperceptibly, but he remained silent, smiling. Since he was an expert at reading people, he naturally knew this young man didn’t come from a wealthy family.
He hadn’t ordered a 6,000-yuan glass of wine because he liked it or wanted to drink it; he just wanted to tease him.
“It’s not good? But I quite like it. I suppose we have different tastes.” Yan Yu laughed softly, his gaze landing on the boy as if he wanted to pull him in. His voice was full of amusement. “Then why don’t you recommend something? What tastes good?”
His brain still reeling from the 6,000-yuan price tag, Shen Jin blurted out excitedly, “Cock… Cock!” (Note: The Chinese word for Cocktail starts with the character for ‘Cock’/’Chicken’)
Yan Yu: “…”
“No!” Shen Jin’s face turned bright red. He nearly bit his tongue as he scrambled to fix the cursed slip of the tongue. “I mean Cock… Cocktails!”
Yan Yu: “…”
Before Yan Yu could even react, and terrified that the man might change his mind and order another 6,000-yuan wine, Shen Jin rushed to tell the bartender: “Two cocktails! Just two! The twenty-yuan ones!”
Yan Yu: “…”
Sweetheart, are you playing with me?
The great CEO Yan, who had never consumed a twenty-yuan cocktail in his life, found it somewhat unbelievable. At the same time, it felt novel. He smiled. “Very well.”
Since you’re so good-looking, I’ll forgive you for treating President Yan to a twenty-yuan drink.
At such a close distance, Shen Jin could smell the faint, lingering scent radiating from Yan Yu. It made him even more nervous. He wanted to strike up a conversation, but because they belonged to entirely different social strata, he was terrified that the more he said, the more mistakes he would make.
However, just as he was stuck in his awkwardness, Yan Yu smiled with perfect gentlemanly poise. “My name is Yan Yu. What’s yours?”
Shen Jin froze, still incredibly tense. He tried to hide his flustered state and said respectfully, “Shen… Shen Jin.”
In a place like this, with the intent to seduce a man, he had originally planned to use a fake name. But his brain stalled, and he blurted out the truth without thinking.
“Shen Jin… Shen Jin. The ‘Jin’ as in ‘ashes,’ right?” Yan Yu repeated the name, offering a generous, charming compliment. “It’s a nice name.”
Shen Jin replied politely, “…Thank you.”
“Are you twenty-two yet?” Yan Yu asked with a smile. Noticing the boy’s jet-black hair looked very soft, he couldn’t resist reaching out to ruffle it. Seeing the boy’s stunned reaction, he chuckled softly. “Are you still in university? Why come to a place like this?”
Shen Jin went rigid at the intimate touch. He instinctively pulled his head back to create distance, but to his surprise, Yan Yu hooked an arm around his neck and pulled him halfway into a hug.
“What?” Yan Yu asked with a half-smile. “Are you afraid of me?”
“…” With that face so close to his, Shen Jin couldn’t find his words. Even breathing became difficult. “No…”
“You’re interesting.” Yan Yu gave an ambiguous laugh. He took the cocktail from the bartender, had a sip, and smiled. “Your cocktail is here.”
Shen Jin hurriedly took a gulp of his drink. He lowered his eyes, but couldn’t help stealing another glance at Yan Yu’s face. When his eyes met the man’s playful gaze, he looked down again instantly.
“Ugh…” Shen Jin suddenly straightened his back. He looked down woodenly at the hand that had silently crept onto his waist. His body tensed up; he was paralyzed.
Yan Yu, acting as if nothing was happening, took another sip of his drink and clinked his glass against Shen Jin’s. “Guess what flavor this cocktail is?”
As he spoke, his palm lingered on Shen Jin’s waist, wandering suggestively to feel the soft, narrow frame. He seemed unwilling to let go, clearly very satisfied.
Shen Jin felt a jolt go through his entire body. He didn’t dare move, feeling only a numbing sensation where he was being touched. Led entirely by the nose, he whispered, “What flavor…”
“A sweet flavor,” Yan Yu squinted, his smile not quite reaching his eyes. He gave Shen Jin’s waist a light squeeze, then firmly held the boy’s trembling body. He leaned in and licked Shen Jin’s ear, his sexy voice mingling with the scent of alcohol as he whispered:
“A sweetness just like yours.”
