After Falling for the Handsome CEO - Chapter 10
Chapter 10: My Brother is Super Good-looking!
When Yan Yu hurried back to the VIP ward, Xie Li was lying in bed, idly playing with a Blue Enchantress rose. He was picking off the petals one by one, a faint smile playing on his lips.
The moment Yan Yu pushed the door open, his vision blurred for a second. He was reminded of when Xie Li was still small—the very first time they met.
Back then, their parents had arranged a meeting, bringing the two ten-year-olds together. At that time, Xie Li was fair, tender, and a bit timid; he loved hiding behind his mother’s back.
When his parents told him to say hello, he peeked his head out from behind his mother. Perhaps because he was too nervous, he stammered, “H-hello, my name is… Xie Li…”
He had ended up tongue-tied, his face flushing crimson as he tucked his head back behind his mother, refusing to say another word.
From that moment on, Yan Yu thought this beautiful little boy was incredibly cute. He grew to like him more as they spent time together. Without realizing it, they both grew up. By the time Yan Yu became aware of his own orientation, he had already fallen hopelessly in love with Xie Li…
He had never formally confessed his feelings because he knew Xie Li could sense them. However, Xie Li never took a stance, likely hoping that Yan Yu would maintain his distance and never cross that line.
As Yan Yu’s thoughts drifted, Xie Li turned his head and curled his lips into a smile that held a hint of innocent charm. “You’re here?”
Xie Li was twenty-four this year, a few years younger than Yan Yu.
“Are you feeling any better?” Yan Yu walked in and noticed the food on the table remained completely untouched. He frowned. “Why haven’t you eaten? No appetite?”
Xie Li glanced at the food and shook his head with a gentle smile. “I really don’t have much of an appetite. When I don’t sleep well, I lose my desire to eat.”
From the moment Yan Yu entered, Xie Li noticed one thing: he wasn’t carrying flowers. The nurse had said he brought a bouquet earlier—where did it go?
Could it be that he really went to see someone else? And was that person the same one he had just been intimate with?
As this thought surfaced, Xie Li’s grip on the Blue Enchantress tightened. The stem snapped with a sharp crack, and a thorn pricked his hand, drawing a few drops of bright red blood.
“Sss…” Xie Li took a sharp breath and frowned.
“Why can’t you be more careful?” Yan Yu scolded lightly. He quickly took Xie Li’s hand and used a white tissue to gently dab away the blood. His handsome face was filled with a worry he didn’t bother to hide.
Xie Li looked down at Yan Yu’s well-defined hands and felt the warmth of his palm. He felt a sudden sense of disorientation; he felt that this man should belong to him just as he always had. How could he share him with anyone else?
Yet he also knew that what one cannot have is always so beautiful it breeds longing. But once obtained… what then?
“I’ll be discharged in a few days. This hospital is stifling; I can finally go out and get some fresh air,” Xie Li said suddenly with a smile. “I feel like there are so many places to go.”
“Where do you want to go?” Yan Yu paused. Looking at Xie Li’s fair, slender fingers, he couldn’t resist holding them gently for a moment. He savored the warmth with a touch of nostalgia before quickly letting go.
Smiling as if nothing had happened, he asked, “Work has been pretty quiet lately; I’m not busy. Shall we go out somewhere together when the time comes?”
“That’s not a bad idea,” Xie Li nodded with a smile. The thought of the person Yan Yu had just been with flickered in his mind again, making him feel inexplicably irritable, but he suppressed it. “It’s summer. Let’s go to the beach together, okay?”
Yan Yu smiled. “Of course.”
“But for now, you should eat. You need your energy,” Yan Yu said warmly. He picked up the bowl and brought a spoonful of porridge to Xie Li’s lips. “Let me feed you. Open up.”
Xie Li froze. Looking at the offered porridge, his ears turned inexplicably hot. He leaned forward to take a bite, a strange emotion quietly spreading through his heart.
Yan Yu narrowed his eyes and laughed softly, continuing to feed him one spoonful at a time.
…
Evening. The sky was dotted with stars.
Shen Jin rode his bicycle from his home to the wealthy family’s estate in the city.
Initially, a family this wealthy wouldn’t have hired a “shabby” tutor like him. However, because he had accidentally found and returned the family cat, the Lady of the house was delighted. She took a liking to him and offered him the job.
Madam Bai was sitting on a hanging chair, holding her cat and admiring the moon. When she saw him arrive, she greeted him with a smile. “Xiao Jin, you’re here.”
“Good evening, Madam Bai.” Shen Jin parked his bicycle and nodded a greeting.
Even though Madam Bai was in her forties, she was well-preserved; one could still see the peerless grace of her youth. She smiled softly. “Thank you for your hard work. Muer is in the hall, excitedly saying she’s waiting for Brother Xiao Jin to arrive. Go on in.”
“It’s no trouble, it’s my honor,” Shen Jin laughed sheepishly, feeling a bit embarrassed by her praise. “I’ll head inside then.”
The “Muer” Madam Bai mentioned was her youngest daughter, Bai Mu. She was a middle school student who wore her hair in little braids—a cute, lively girl who liked him very much. The two of them always got along well.
“Brother Xiao Jin is here!” The little girl smiled and waved the moment she saw him. She gave a playful huff and said, “See? I’ve already laid out all my study materials. Hurry up and praise me!”
“I know, I know. Good job,” Shen Jin laughed as he walked over. Seeing her expression of waiting for a reward, he couldn’t help but pat her head. “I know you’re great.”
“Of course I am!” Bai Mu giggled. She pushed a plate of fruit toward him. “Here, Brother Xiao Jin, have some fruit.”
Shen Jin didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He organized the materials on the table and said with a smile, “We’re here to study. We can talk about food after we’re done. Are there any problems from class you didn’t understand today? Tell me now and I’ll teach you. If not, I’ll help you preview the new lesson.”
“Alright, you’re right. I’ll listen to Brother Xiao Jin,” the girl smiled, though she couldn’t help but mutter a few words. “Brother Xiao Jin being my teacher is much better than my own brother. He just calls me stupid and says I only don’t understand because I’m dumb. It’s so annoying!”
Shen Jin paused when he heard her mention her “brother.” He had been a tutor at the Bai house for six months, but he had never met this brother, nor had he specifically asked about him.
He couldn’t help but smile. “Muer is so pretty, your brother must be very good-looking too.”
At the mention of looks, the girl became instantly proud. She nodded repeatedly and grinned. “Yes! My brother is super good-looking! He’s in his twenties; he was abroad before but just came back recently. You should be able to see him in a little bit!”
