After Failing to Reverse the Plot, I Made My Escape - Chapter 8
“Baby, you are shaped like me now.”
“We are not,” Yu Fuqiu instinctively tried to explain, his voice still raspy from crying.
His stray hairs clung to his forehead, making his tear filled eyes look even more pitiful. It seemed as though he would shatter and fly away with the wind at the slightest touch.
Chang Tingzhi wore a faint smile, yet it filled Yu Fuqiu with an inexplicable dread. He swallowed hard and tried to take a step back.
However, Zuo Chenshuang endured the piercing pain of his fractured index finger and used his uninjured hand to shield Yu Fuqiu firmly behind him. He straightened his back to face Chang Tingzhi’s cold gaze.
“Tingzhi, calm down. Fuqiu is not in a good emotional state. I was only comforting him.”
“Comforting?” Chang Tingzhi laughed softly as if he had heard an incredibly absurd joke.
The laughter echoed through the empty corridor with a bone chilling coldness. While laughing, he slowly straightened up, left the support of the doorframe, and walked toward them step by step.
Even though he was still wearing a hospital gown, his footsteps echoing in the hallway were strong and powerful, each step thumping against Yu Fuqiu’s heart.
“My wife is crying, and you are holding him in your arms. You call this comforting?”
“Oh, so your so called comfort is holding his waist, stroking his hair, and whispering in his ear that it is okay because you are here? All while his husband is right inside the door just a wall away.”
“Is the next step for you to lift my wife’s clothes and show him that disgusting thing of yours?”
“Chang Tingzhi!”
Zuo Chenshuang’s face flushed red. He and Chang Tingzhi had grown up together and were the best of friends in the orphanage. Just a moment ago, he did indeed have inappropriate thoughts about his friend’s wife, but he should not be spoken to this way.
“I was just,”
Before Zuo Chenshuang could finish his sentence, Chang Tingzhi suddenly swung a punch with startling speed, slamming it hard into Zuo Chenshuang’s abdomen.
“Ugh!” Caught off guard, Zuo Chenshuang let out a muffled groan of pain. His body bent forward uncontrollably, and he nearly collapsed to his knees.
“Chenshuang!” Yu Fuqiu cried out in alarm. Seeing Zuo Chenshuang injured again while trying to protect him, guilt and anger instantly overthrew his fear.
He lunged out from behind Zuo Chenshuang and spread his arms wide without hesitation. Like a mother hen protecting her chick, he used his thin body to block Zuo Chenshuang and shouted at Chang Tingzhi, “Stop it! This has nothing to do with him!”
Chang Tingzhi’s fist stopped abruptly just a few centimeters from Yu Fuqiu’s nose.
Seeing Yu Fuqiu glaring at him to protect another man, the violence surging in his chest and the sharp, poisonous fire of jealousy nearly burned away his last shred of reason.
Enraged to the extreme, a colder and more twisted smile bloomed on his face instead.
“Good, very good.” He stared at Yu Fuqiu, his eyes as deep as a soul devouring whirlpool.
The next second, before Yu Fuqiu or the painfully huddled Zuo Chenshuang could react, Chang Tingzhi lunged forward. He grabbed the back of Yu Fuqiu’s neck, slammed him toward himself, and lowered his head. With an intent to punish and destroy, he roughly sealed those lips that still wanted to defend someone else!
“Mmph!”
Yu Fuqiu’s eyes widened in horror. He struggled desperately, pushing against Chang Tingzhi’s chest with both hands.
Chang Tingzhi, however, seemed to have no sensation. His kiss was like a violent storm, possessive and irresistible. He forced open Yu Fuqiu’s teeth, plundering wantonly and even biting deliberately, causing the taste of blood to spread between their lips again.
“Don’t,”
The words in Yu Fuqiu’s throat were entirely swallowed by Chang Tingzhi, leaving only soft whimpers.
Yu Fuqiu’s eyes suddenly flew wide. Chang Tingzhi’s other hand lifted the edge of his shirt. Cold air hit his skin, making him shiver, followed immediately by a burning heat that crawled up his body.
Long fingertips traced circles around his navel, slowly wandering toward his waist. Yu Fuqiu struggled violently, but with one press from Chang Tingzhi, he went limp like water.
A flash of predatory joy appeared in Chang Tingzhi’s eyes. He bit down hard on Yu Fuqiu’s lip, looking with satisfaction at those swollen, red lips.
Yu Fuqiu trembled violently as tears of humiliation poured out.
As the kiss ended, Chang Tingzhi stepped back slightly. He traced a finger playfully across Yu Fuqiu’s burning cheek, his voice low, cruel, and full of mockery.
“Look at you. Your body was trained by me to be this sensitive long ago, hmm?”
“Could someone like him,” he glanced contemptuously at Zuo Chenshuang kneeling on the floor, “ever satisfy you?”
“Hmm?”
He held Yu Fuqiu in his arms with one hand while the other hand explored a hidden corner out of sight. All Zuo Chenshuang could see was that trembling body.
A crisp, loud slap suddenly rang out!
Yu Fuqiu had used all his strength to slap Chang Tingzhi across the face!
Time seemed to stand still at that moment.
Yu Fuqiu’s hand froze in midair, his palm stinging. He was shaking with rage, his tears flowing even harder. His beautiful eyes were filled with the anger and heartbreak of being humiliated.
Chang Tingzhi’s head was whipped to the side, and a clear handprint quickly appeared on his fair cheek.
He slowly, very slowly, turned his head back to look at Yu Fuqiu.
In those bottomless eyes, all the rage and mockery had vanished, replaced by a gathering storm that was extremely dangerous and dark.
The coldness within them made Yu Fuqiu feel as if he had been dropped into an ice cellar.
“Heh.” He let out an extremely faint laugh.
Then, without giving anyone a chance to react, he suddenly bent down and threw Yu Fuqiu over his shoulder!
“Let me go! Chang Tingzhi! Let me go!” Yu Fuqiu struggled in terror, pounding on his back.
Chang Tingzhi remained deaf to his cries, letting his prey struggle in vain.
He did not even spare a glance for Zuo Chenshuang, who was collapsed on the floor in agony. Carrying the struggling Yu Fuqiu, he turned and strode back into the hospital room.
The door was slammed shut with a loud bang, completely cutting them off from the outside world.
Yu Fuqiu was thrown onto the hospital bed. He struggled to escape, but just as he tried to crawl away, Chang Tingzhi grabbed his ankle and dragged him back. He pinned him down and used the IV tubing to bind Yu Fuqiu’s hands.
The beauty’s eyes were filled with tears, his slender neck arched back like a dying swan.
Chang Tingzhi stroked his stomach with a smile. “Still trying to run?”
“What, can that wild man satisfy you?”
“Fine, I will let you know exactly who can satisfy you better.”
“Chang Tingzhi, you bastard!”
Yu Fuqiu’s broken voice was laced with sobs.
From inside the room, the muffled whimpers of Yu Fuqiu being silenced and more intense, ceaseless sounds could be heard.
Outside, Zuo Chenshuang clutched his abdomen and held his broken finger while leaning against the wall. He watched everything happen with eyes full of pain, anger, and a deep sense of helplessness. He slammed a fist into the ground, causing his knuckles to split and bleed instantly.
When Yu Fuqiu woke up, there was not a single part of his body left unmarked. Dense hickeys covered him completely, and his bloated stomach seemed to echo with the sound of fluids.
He curled up, burying himself under the blankets.
The memories of yesterday’s madness flooded his mind. Chang Tingzhi had stroked his stomach, kissing him incessantly. “Baby, you are shaped like me now.”
“You are mine. You are mine. No one can take you away.”
It was almost as if his husband had returned.
But his husband would never treat him so brutally.
Yu Fuqiu’s body was as desolate as a fallen leaf in the autumn wind. When he finally regained his senses and wiped his face, it was covered in cold tears.
“Fuqiu.”
There was a knock on the door.
Yu Fuqiu peeked out cautiously and realized he was no longer at the hospital but at their home.
Chu Baoli knocked gently on the door. “Are you alright?”
Chu Baoli had never seen her brother like that. Ever since she found him, he had always had a very gentle temperament. But last night, he was like a crazed beast, biting the prey in his arms and dragging it back to his territory.
She had opened the door for them in the living room, only to be told to get out by an enraged Chang Tingzhi. He then locked her out of the room. Through the heavy door, she could hear the unspeakable sounds from the living room and Yu Fuqiu’s weak pleas for mercy.
The next day, Chang Tingzhi came out of the room as if nothing had happened. The scent in the air had not yet dissipated. He smiled slightly at Chu Baoli. “Sister, perhaps you will have a little niece soon.”
Chu Baoli stared at Chang Tingzhi with wide, disbelieving eyes.
Previously, Yu Fuqiu had hidden his pregnancy from Chang Tingzhi. In this era, although men could bear children, it was often a life threatening ordeal. Yu Fuqiu only told Chang Tingzhi once it was too late for an abortion.
Later, Chang Tingzhi had cried for an entire day outside the delivery room. Then, in front of everyone, he knelt on the floor and held the hand of the just delivered Yu Fuqiu. “Wife, no more. We are never having another one.”
That video had even been captured by an assistant and posted online, becoming a joke among fans.
“Oh, right. What is his name?”
Chang Tingzhi’s narrow eyes squinted slightly, his face full of satisfaction. “No wonder ‘I’ chose him as a mistress. He really is my type.”
Chu Baoli informed Chang Tingzhi of some basic facts. Chang Tingzhi quickly expressed his lack of interest, buttoned his sleeves, and left the house.
“Sister, he is not Tingzhi. He is not my Tingzhi.”
His Tingzhi would never be so cold to him, would never force him regardless of his wishes, and would never leave him alone in a dark room.
Yu Fuqiu was finally certain at this moment that the plot had completely begun. The original protagonist of the book had truly returned.
But, but—
What was he hesitating for?
Reason told him he should file for divorce and run far away with Xiao Chun. The protagonist of the book and the original male lead were destined to meet; he was just a passing side character.
“What if? What if he comes back?”
Chu Baoli spoke softly. She took a package out of her bag and placed it gently at Yu Fuqiu’s door.
“Fuqiu, this is a package Tingzhi sent. It only arrived today. I did not show it to him; I will leave it here first.”
“Uncle Wu has prepared dinner downstairs. Remember to eat something.”
Once the sound of Chu Baoli’s voice faded, Yu Fuqiu crawled out, not even having dressed properly. He opened the door in a scramble and saw a small, delicate package through the crack.
With trembling hands, he reached for the small parcel and saw a small, beautiful crystal ball hanging from it.
Hanging below the crystal ball was the date it was sent.
[To my most, most, most adorable Qiuqiu.]
The moment he recognized the handwriting, tears filled Yu Fuqiu’s eyes.
Tingzhi, Tingzhi, where are you?
He held the small package and sobbed uncontrollably.
I am in so much pain. I am in so much pain. Hold me, please hold me.
My body hurts, and my heart hurts too.
If Chang Tingzhi were by his side right now, he would surely hold him in his arms and gently kiss away the tears on his face.
He would tell him not to be afraid and that the pain would all fly away.
His Tingzhi—
Could never bear to hurt him.
