Chapter 7: “Are You Still Going to Mention Another Alpha’s Name in Front of Me?”
Was this supposed to be a “livestream session”?
Even though she knew Chu Wu, on the screen, was just a broadcast image and couldn’t see what was happening on this side of the lens, Sheng Ruxi’s entire face flushed crimson.
Her mind was racing. How could they do such a lewd thing in a dignified, serious study like this?
Jian Jixing showed not a shred of remorse for her mischief. Instead, she firmly barricaded the space, leaving Sheng Ruxi with no room to retreat. This wasn’t a “good opportunity”—it was a trap, and she had walked right into it.
“Let go!” Sheng Ruxi snapped, though her body betrayed her. She hadn’t pushed away the moment she was encircled. Now, she couldn’t push at all—she lacked the strength.
“This is the best seat to watch Professor Chu’s livestream. You want to watch, and so do I,” Jian Jixing said matter-of-factly. “So, we watch together.”
Despicable. Shameless. A total bully.
The steady scent of agarwood that filled the room when she entered had been scorched by body heat, turning into an aggressive, thick incense. The smell of burning citrus peel—medicinal, woody, and slightly bitter in its aftertaste—meant Jian Jixing had officially entered her Susceptible Period. The scent coiled around Sheng Ruxi like silk threads, constructing a small, sturdy cage alongside Jian Jixing’s arms.
Jian Jixing’s embrace wasn’t gentle; it felt like she wanted to burn them both to ashes.
It was too much. Sheng Ruxi loved sweet, elegant scents; she hated bitterness and the coldness of wood notes. Jian Jixing hit every single one of her dislikes. Yet, Jian Jixing’s pheromones were so dominant, surging forward and breaking through her defenses, making Sheng Ruxi feel lightheaded.
How do I escape—
Sheng Ruxi refused to lose. Even as her legs grew weak, she suddenly turned her head and bit Jian Jixing. Her target was clear: Jian Jixing’s lips.
Jian Jixing didn’t dodge. She merely tilted her head slightly, and Sheng Ruxi’s teeth sank into her cheek instead. It didn’t hurt, but the provocation was loud and clear.
Sheng Ruxi’s lips curled into a triumphant smirk. She knew it. There was a subtle understanding between them: they never kissed. That was something only people in love did, which was impossible for them. Sheng Ruxi had banked on Jian Jixing flinching away.
Jian Jixing’s eyes darkened. Sheng Ruxi wasn’t afraid; the slight shift gave her a moment to breathe, and she leaned in again, aiming for Jian Jixing’s exposed neck.
“Give an inch, take a mile,” Jian Jixing muttered, brushing Sheng Ruxi’s hair aside.
Sheng Ruxi shuddered. “What are you doing!” She couldn’t seriously be planning to do it right here…
“Your pheromones smell good,” Jian Jixing actually chuckled. “I don’t want to waste them. Is that not allowed?”
The two scents in the room were merging, even as the two women stubbornly remained at odds. Jian Jixing knew there was only one way to make Sheng Ruxi behave.
Sheng Ruxi’s legs suddenly gave out. Jian Jixing immediately caught her by the waist, steadying her. Jian Jixing’s body was burning hot. Sheng Ruxi closed her eyes, swallowing her retort. Fine. If she’s steadying me, I’ll take it as her backing down.
Sheng Ruxi compromised. As long as they turned off the livestream, she’d let Jian Jixing bite her… However, Jian Jixing didn’t retreat, nor did she make another move. She seemed genuinely intent on watching the stream.
“Hello everyone, I’m Chu Wu. Welcome to this livestream…” A familiar voice came from the screen. Sheng Ruxi looked away awkwardly, her restlessness growing. This posture was bizarre. What kind of kink is this?
Suddenly, the small window expanded to fill the entire monitor. Jian Jixing had maximized it. Chu Wu’s gaze seemed to sweep across the audience, making it feel as if their actions were being watched.
Sheng Ruxi tensed, trying to back away, only to press herself flush against Jian Jixing. Her curves pressed into the Alpha’s front with every breath. Sensing the friction, Sheng Ruxi’s face, ears, and neck turned a deeper red. The sweet-and-sour scent in the air thickened.
Jian Jixing’s breathing grew heavy. “What’s wrong? Why aren’t you watching seriously?”
“You’re the one who’s doing things!” Sheng Ruxi was on the verge of a breakdown. Whose Susceptible Period is this anyway? She hissed, “You had this planned. You’re not even wearing a bra.” Her voice got smaller toward the end.
Jian Jixing arched an eyebrow. “Who wears a bra at home? Don’t judge a lady by your own standards. I gave this opportunity to you on purpose.”
Sheng Ruxi’s heart raced. She tried to restrain herself.
“Sheng Ruxi, why is your breathing so fast?” Jian Jixing leaned in, her voice sounding mock-concerned. “You’re sweating… what are you thinking about? Still want to bite me?”
Bite? Is now the time for biting? Sheng Ruxi had no doubt that if she had actually caught Jian Jixing’s lips earlier, she wouldn’t even be standing right now.
At that moment, the host announced the Q&A segment: five lucky viewers would be chosen to interact with Chu Wu. This was what Sheng Ruxi had been waiting for, the reason she came back, but now she wished she could take back everything she’d said.
The first four viewers finished. Sheng Ruxi hadn’t heard a word they said. The fifth connection began.
“Why aren’t you talking?” Jian Jixing asked.
“…” Sheng Ruxi took a deep breath. It was agonizing. She didn’t dare move, afraid of rubbing against Jian Jixing. She just wanted the chat with Chu Wu to end so she could turn the screen off.
She was an adult; she knew exactly how her body was reacting and what was likely to happen tonight. Jian Jixing was grinding her down, and she didn’t believe for a second that Jian Jixing wasn’t feeling it. The Alpha was clearly more uncomfortable than she was, but she was acting so composed, refusing to utter the words “I want to mark you.”
They were still posturing, but their pheromones had long since tangled together, inseparable.
“The connection is going through,” Jian Jixing whispered, her hot breath ghosting over Sheng Ruxi’s ear.
Sheng Ruxi tried to steady her mind but couldn’t bring herself to look at Chu Wu on the screen. She was dying of shame. Her toes curled.
“Don’t pick up.”
“Don’t pick up? How could I waste such a good chance? Weren’t you constantly mentioning Chu Wu’s name earlier?”
“I thought you missed her, so I gave this to you.” Jian Jixing suddenly gripped Sheng Ruxi’s chin, forcing her to look at the lens. “Watch closely. Don’t let my kindness go to waste.”
Sheng Ruxi finally saw the screen. The ID was Jian Jixing. It was her official, verified social media account.
There were millions of people in the stream, many of them entertainment industry fans. Jian Jixing’s ID was at the top of the rankings—highly visible. If Sheng Ruxi appeared on Jian Jixing’s account in this state, the internet would explode.
Jian Jixing was doing it on purpose! That bastard! She knew Sheng Ruxi wouldn’t dare show her face on that account. She had lured her back with a lie.
Before Sheng Ruxi could process it, Jian Jixing clicked Accept.
No—
Sheng Ruxi almost screamed. How could they appear like this? Jian Jixing had clearly lost her mind to her Susceptible Period. In an instant, Sheng Ruxi slammed the phone face-down on the desk and buried herself in Jian Jixing’s embrace.
Jian Jixing let out an ambiguous muffled groan from the impact. Sheng Ruxi was so angry and ashamed she forgot to breathe, her eyes welling with tears. Seeing Jian Jixing reach for the phone again, Sheng Ruxi turned like a startled bird and bit Jian Jixing’s earlobe in retaliation.
But her voice broke and went soft: “Don’t do that… I’ll do whatever you want, okay? Anything.”
She made her choice. Sex was fine, but social suicide was not. Appearing like this in front of Chu Wu and the public was out of the question!
Host: “Oh! It’s our old friend. Director Jian, why is your screen black? Director Jian, can you hear us?”
The voice was clear, but Jian Jixing acted as if she hadn’t heard. She looked down, a faint smirk on her lips, and answered only to Sheng Ruxi: “Then we do it right here.”
What? Sheng Ruxi felt a daze, and before she could understand, Jian Jixing moved. Sheng Ruxi’s lower abdomen was pressed against the edge of the desk, and a warm mouth covered the back of her neck.
It was too late for words. Jian Jixing’s hands stopped restraining her and instead gripped her waist, preventing her from falling.
Tears—half-real, half-acted—filled Sheng Ruxi’s eyes. “Jian Jixing, how can you be so mean?”
Mean?
Jian Jixing licked her lips before leisurely answering the host: “Yeah.”
“Director Jian, why is your voice so raspy? And why is it so dark over there?” the host asked curiously.
Jian Jixing: “I’m getting ready to sleep.”
Sheng Ruxi’s back was arched tight, her head falling back. She had to stifle her own voice. In her ears, Jian Jixing’s words translated to: I’m getting ready to sleep with you.
How could she be so shameless? This wasn’t “getting ready”—it was happening. Her gland didn’t hurt; the first bite wasn’t deep, but a strange sense of emptiness flooded her. The one feeling unsatisfied was actually herself.
Chu Wu spoke: “So early? That doesn’t sound like you.”
Jian Jixing chuckled. “I just really want to sleep.”
Sheng Ruxi’s nerves were pulled taut. All she heard was: I just really want to sleep with you…
Jian Jixing’s hands finally moved over her. Sheng Ruxi’s tears fell as she slumped onto the desk. In this position, she couldn’t bite back. The hands around her waist provided the only soft buffer.
Chu Wu knew Jian Jixing was eccentric and didn’t force her to show the camera. “Any questions for me?”
Hearing a noise from the other side, Chu Wu added, “Don’t fall off the bed now.”
Sheng Ruxi couldn’t help a sob, which she desperately tried to turn into a hiccup. She had no defense against Jian Jixing’s assault; she was like a thin cloud held up by the Alpha, molded into any shape the hands desired.
It was too much. Sheng Ruxi looked down. Jian Jixing’s wandering fingers moved from her chest to her chin. Sheng Ruxi lowered her head and bit Jian Jixing’s finger.
“Mmh… I won’t.” Jian Jixing looked at the teeth marks on her fingertip. She wasn’t angry; instead, she brushed her hand against Sheng Ruxi’s cheek.
She asked casually into the mic: “When do you plan on getting married?”
The previous viewers had asked scientific questions. With Jian Jixing, the channel had completely changed.
“I don’t have plans for that yet. I’ll leave it to fate,” Chu Wu replied.
Jian Jixing twirled a strand of Sheng Ruxi’s hair around her finger. “That won’t do. I’m afraid someone might be heartbroken.”
Stop talking! Sheng Ruxi knew she was being mocked. On the stream, the audience started teasing, and even the host laughed. “Director Jian is always so supportive of Professor Chu.”
Jian Jixing: “Many people are supportive. Professor Chu is very charming; Omegas love her.”
Don’t they? Jian Jixing silently asked with her actions. She bit again—harder and deeper this time. Sheng Ruxi’s skirt had been hitched up, crumpled on the side of the desk. The zipper had been skillfully undone at some point, exposing her shoulder blades. Slumped on the desk, she looked like a fragile butterfly with its wings drenched in rain, unable to fly.
In her daze, Sheng Ruxi felt one of her legs being hooked around Jian Jixing’s waist. Her tears rolled down, and her lower body trembled. As for what Jian Jixing and Chu Wu discussed after that, she didn’t hear a word.
The night grew deep, and even the moonlight outside seemed to catch the heat.
In her blurred consciousness, Jian Jixing discarded the last of her reason. She leaned into Sheng Ruxi’s ear and chuckled: “Sheng Ruxi, are you still going to mention another Alpha’s name in front of me?”
