Chapter 2: “Then I Beg You.”
“Jian Jixing, stop dreaming.”
Instead of getting angry, Sheng Ruxi let her body soften. Her voice was sweet, but not cloying. She smiled brightly while speaking dismissive words, as if she had just heard a pathetic joke.
Since middle school, Sheng Ruxi loved competing with Jian Jixing. Their goals had overlapped perfectly their entire lives—they even loved the same person.
Thinking of Chu Wu’s face, Sheng Ruxi’s tears stopped, and her voice steadied. “Oh, wait… me, begging you? That wouldn’t even happen in your dreams.”
Jian Jixing gave a sudden, sharp laugh. “Sheng Ruxi, I thought you’d have learned to be a bit smarter after what happened before.”
If Sheng Ruxi were smart enough, the mistake of that night two months ago would never have occurred. If she weren’t so sharp-tongued and unwilling to lose, they wouldn’t have ended up in a situation that went from “dry wood” to “raging fire.”
“It’s mutual. What right do you have to demand I beg?” Sheng Ruxi looked at Jian Jixing with reddened eyes. She knew her advantages well—her face and her acting skills were her greatest weapons.
Even though Jian Jixing knew this “fox” was likely faking it, she still felt Sheng Ruxi might actually be in pain. She let go of the stiletto heel.
Free, Sheng Ruxi immediately pulled her leg back, enduring the discomfort in her scent gland. “Director Jian has such unique taste—loving this feeling of ‘the one you can’t have.'”
Jian Jixing: “…” Sheng Ruxi really can’t go a second without sniping at me.
“There are pheromones everywhere outside, and too many people. If you don’t come back with me now, you’ll just end up going into heat right here,” Jian Jixing reminded her. “Or have you forgotten what the doctor said about our condition?”
In this special state, staying with the Alpha who had marked her was the only correct choice. Stubbornly acting alone would only lead to more suffering.
This hit home. Sheng Ruxi’s smug expression faltered. Jian Jixing turned and began to walk out.
“You just wait, Jian Jixing!” Sheng Ruxi huffed, finally grabbing her skirt and following on her heels.
…
Ten minutes later, a heavy motorcycle sped through the night.
Unlike before, there was now a passenger. Even on a bike, Sheng Ruxi refused to change out of her beautiful dress, though she now wore a black leather biker jacket over it.
“Hold tight.”
The two words were carried back by the wind. Sheng Ruxi snapped, “I’m not touching you—AAAAAH!”
The sudden burst of speed caught her off guard. She reflexively slammed her hands against Jian Jixing’s waist. It took several seconds to recover her breath. “Slow down! Do you want to die?!”
“What’s this?” Jian Jixing’s streak of mischief was in full display as she accelerated further.
“Super-fast speed, super-fast life,” Sheng Ruxi squeezed out through gritted teeth.
Jian Jixing didn’t look back. “No need to curse your legal partner with an early death. We signed an agreement; if I die, the inheritance isn’t yours anyway.”
As if I care about your money! Sheng Ruxi shot back: “Jian Jixing, if you had a better personality, you wouldn’t still be failing to win over Chu Wu. Don’t you realize the problem is you?”
Jian Jixing: “You say that as if you succeeded.”
“…”
Sheng Ruxi pinched Jian Jixing’s waist hard. The bike didn’t slow, but Jian Jixing’s voice tightened. “So you like acting like a hooligan this much?”
The audacity! Who’s the real hooligan here? Sheng Ruxi couldn’t stand it. “Compared to Director Jian, who won’t even let her own love rival off the hook, I’m an amateur.”
Thinking of that night… ignoring the embarrassment and shame, Sheng Ruxi was purely fuming.
Jian Jixing gripped the handlebars. She couldn’t turn around, but she could feel the heat of Sheng Ruxi’s rage. She’s the one who’s angry?
“I’m the hooligan?” Jian Jixing said. “Movie Queen Sheng has a short memory. You don’t remember who was begging me that night?”
As she spoke, a ghost of heat seemed to linger by her ear. Two months had passed, but the memories cut into her mind with force. Sheng Ruxi’s attitude when begging was just as unreasonable as her personality.
Jian Jixing had tried to push her away, but a lawless Omega has no logic, and the pheromones were doing all the seducing. Skin like milk, but pheromones like sweet-and-sour berries—a light touch, a squeeze, and the juices overflowed.
Sheng Ruxi shouted: “Don’t you dare bring that up! If your pheromones hadn’t seduced me, I wouldn’t have lost control!”
Domineering and pampered. This was the definition of Sheng Ruxi. When she was sober, she wanted to ride over Jian Jixing’s head. When she wasn’t sober… she actually did ride over her head.
The imagery made Jian Jixing’s face heat up. She forced herself to calm down. But it was only that one time. Ever since they were pushed into getting their marriage licenses, sharing a bed had become a “mission.” They would pull up the covers, turn off the lights, and finish the task with rigid efficiency.
Jian Jixing sighed. This bickering was as tedious as the frozen gap between them in bed. She gave a low, self-deprecating laugh.
…
Their ridiculous night should have ended quietly. But when Jian Jixing went home, her mother, Yan Yaojin, sensed the lingering pheromones of an Omega. Knowing her daughter’s “incompetence” regarding Omega scents, the mother visited a doctor, only to run into Sheng Ruxi’s mother, Fang Wanning.
“My daughter came home this morning with the scent of an Alpha on her,” Fang Wanning had said.
The two mothers, backed by powerful families and private medical teams, met with Dr. Tang Zhi. It turned out both daughters were equally troublesome.
Since presenting, Jian Jixing had never entered an Enigma/Susceptible period; she vomited at the scent of any Omega. Conversely, Sheng Ruxi had been drinking suppressants like water since age nineteen, making her body extremely unstable.
Dr. Tang Zhi asked them to describe the scents. “Blueberries, strawberries, berries, and oatmeal. Sweet, sour, and milky,” Yan Yaojin said. “Dried tangerine peel and agarwood. A very unique scent,” Fang Wanning added.
The mothers stared at each other in awkward realization. Those are our daughters’ scents.
Case closed. That night, the families met and arranged the marriage. The two “juniors” weren’t even present.
The doctor informed Jian Jixing that to cure her condition, she needed three “courses” of treatment—four months each. Once a month, for a total of twelve “hormonal exchanges.” In short: lots of sex and multiple Temporary Markings.
Jian Jixing’s first thought wasn’t how absurd it was, but that Sheng Ruxi would never agree.
…
Back at the villa, the two didn’t speak. They bathed in separate bathrooms. Sheng Ruxi soaked in the hot water, finally letting out a long sigh. She saw messages from her friend, Yan Fuzheng.
Yan Fuzheng: 【Don’t be too sharp-tongued. You’re easy to ‘handle’ once your heat starts. Are you okay? She’s your wife after all, try to be civil.】 Yan Fuzheng: 【You guys left so fast. Meng Zhao is still there trying to leech off Jian Jixing’s win. Hilarious.】
Sheng Ruxi replied: 【Wife? I married her to spite her. I hold the power in this hate-relationship.】 Yan Fuzheng: 【Stop being stubborn. You’ll be begging her to bite you in a minute.】 Sheng Ruxi: 【She’s entering her susceptible period too. If she wants to bite me, she has to beg ME! I will NEVER beg her!】
After a long silence, the friend asked: 【What do her pheromones actually smell like?】
Sheng Ruxi’s fingers froze. Everyone knew Jian Jixing was a powerful Alpha with terrifying self-control who never leaked her scent. But Sheng Ruxi knew. Even though it was Jian Jixing, she felt a subtle sense of satisfaction.
The steam made her head swim. She shook off the feeling, wrapped herself in a robe, and stopped suppressing her own pheromones.
She had won another trophy tonight. She was the most sought-after actress in the industry. But she felt nothing—that was hers by right. What actually made her heart race and her ears burn was the heavy, woodsy scent of incense enveloping her. Jian Jixing’s pheromones.
Jian Jixing was already lying on the left side of the bed, casually flipping through a book. She obviously smelled Sheng Ruxi, but she didn’t react. She was waiting for Sheng Ruxi to come to her.
Sheng Ruxi lay down on the right side. The sheets had been changed. When Jian Jixing still didn’t move, Sheng Ruxi—unable to stand the silence—snatched the book and tossed it aside.
Thwack. The heavy book hit the bedside lamp, knocking the light out. Sheng Ruxi hated the lights on. This was her signal: the “mission” had officially begun.
The “Chu-Han Border” between them closed. Jian Jixing silently leaned over. Sheng Ruxi turned her back to her, her robe’s tie already loose.
Because of Sheng Ruxi’s long-term use of suppressants, she was “frigid” and irritable during her heat, yet only Jian Jixing could mark her. Their “illnesses” were a perfect match.
As Jian Jixing approached Sheng Ruxi’s gland, the sweet scent intensified. Jian Jixing’s canine teeth began to itch. She reached out to pull Sheng Ruxi closer, but the Omega struggled, though her waist was pinned firmly.
Even in the dark, Sheng Ruxi could feel the scorching, powerful gaze moving from her eyes to her lips, and then further down. She couldn’t take it, but she forced herself not to move.
“If you’re unwilling, I won’t force you.” Jian Jixing suddenly let go and sat up. She was a person of extreme routine, but everything fell apart whenever she dealt with Sheng Ruxi. This “ancestor” would boss her around in the middle of the night just because she’d been bitten.
Sheng Ruxi hated her “in control” attitude, but when Jian Jixing suddenly pulled away, she felt a chill and shivered. “Do you even know what foreplay is? When did I say I was unwilling?” Sheng Ruxi snapped. “Since I’m already lying here, you should be tactful. Can’t you say a word and beg me to cooperate? Whoever becomes your girlfriend is going to be exhausted. Thank god you never caught Wu-wu.”
Since they had to share a bed, Sheng Ruxi refused to have a “low quality” sex life. She had a lot of complaints about this “mission-style” intimacy. Blockhead! Single dog! You deserve it!
Jian Jixing stood by the bed, looking down at her. She really didn’t understand why Sheng Ruxi would bring up another Alpha—even Chu Wu—at a time like this. Her eyes adjusted to the dark. The moonlight illuminated Sheng Ruxi’s curves.
Jian Jixing’s own gland was aching and hot. Pheromones were surging. Fine. Swallowing her pride was nothing; she just didn’t want Sheng Ruxi to start crying again. That was more trouble.
“Then I beg you.”
Sheng Ruxi: “I’m not willing anymore!”
The atmosphere turned icy. Jian Jixing gave a cold smirk and turned to leave, but Sheng Ruxi kicked out at her. In the next second, Sheng Ruxi’s ankle was easily caught. An overwhelming aura wrapped around her.
Jian Jixing gripped her ankle and dragged her to the edge of the bed. As she backed up, she suddenly flicked the lights back on. The robe was already useless. In an instant, Sheng Ruxi appeared before Jian Jixing like a beautiful rose in full bloom—complete and exposed.
Sheng Ruxi wanted to scream. She felt dizzy. Jian Jixing is being a hooligan again!
“Does this count as foreplay?” Jian Jixing arched an eyebrow. She casually squeezed Sheng Ruxi’s toe with her thumb, watching her face as she looked ready to cry. Then, her palm stroked upward.
Her gaze locked onto Sheng Ruxi. She laughed softly, using her other hand to begin unbuttoning her own shirt.
“Want the lights off? Why are you shaking… Sheng Ruxi, if you want the lights off, beg me.”
