Chapter 16.1: Infatuated and Blinded
“Is this person crazy?”
The room was silent, and those two words struck Sheng Ruxi’s ears like a thunderclap, causing her to lose all reaction instantly. She didn’t even have time to push back.
Just like that, she was pinned to the bed.
The breath Jian Jixing exhaled while speaking made her even more flustered. The heavy doors of her heart, which had been on the verge of closing, were forcibly pried open a crack.
The moment she was pushed down, her arms followed old bodily memories and draped themselves over Jian Jixing’s shoulders.
Infatuated and blinded by lust… this shouldn’t be happening.
“What kind of madness is this? Who wants to kiss you? What are you doing? Get off me! Let go! Jian Jixing, let me tell you, we aren’t real. Don’t even think about biting me now. No fake marriage works like this! I can report you, I’ll tell Mom, I’ll tell Wuwu… you—”
Jian Jixing ignored Sheng Ruxi’s long tirade.
She cupped Sheng Ruxi’s cheek with one hand, forcing the struggling woman to settle down momentarily, and pressed her lips directly against Sheng Ruxi’s.
It was merely a touch, like a dragonfly skimming the water, but it caused Sheng Ruxi’s entire body to stiffen.
The air seemed to explode with a pop, and a sweet, slightly tart berry scent diffused instantly.
Sheng Ruxi’s pheromones had skipped the warm wheat notes of the top and middle and jumped straight to the base notes. It was clear how long she had been holding it in.
Jian Jixing had guessed correctly.
If she didn’t provoke Sheng Ruxi, how long would the other woman keep enduring?
On the way here, Jian Jixing had carefully considered Tuanzi’s words. When she received the call, besides mentioning that Sheng Ruxi had fainted, Tuanzi told her the doctor said Sheng Ruxi’s condition could only be shared with her Alpha.
When it involves a partner, it usually relates to the state of the scent gland. Since Sheng Ruxi’s physical health was fine, it was highly likely a pheromone issue.
Back in her third year of middle school, when Jian Jixing found she had no rut symptoms, she had researched this. For both Alphas and Omegas, pheromone activity being too low or too high is problematic.
Too low, like herself—cold toward all Omegas, nauseated by their pheromones, and never experiencing a rut.
Too high, and a mere touch from others could trigger arousal. It’s fine if you have a partner to stick to, but if not…
Jian Jixing hadn’t looked into that too deeply; it hadn’t concerned her.
Sheng Ruxi’s situation seemed different. She clearly needed to vent her desires, yet she wouldn’t make a sound unless provoked.
Sheng Ruxi being bottled up like this was partly Jian Jixing’s fault. No matter how compatible their bodies were, it didn’t change the fact that Sheng Ruxi disliked her.
The “number of times” Jian Jixing mentioned earlier was just her wondering—at this moment, if she helped Sheng Ruxi, would it count as using up one of those times?
The moment before their lips met, Sheng Ruxi prepared herself for a heavy kiss. But Jian Jixing just gave her a simple kiss and pulled back.
What does that mean?
Jian Jixing looked at Sheng Ruxi. The woman before her had a moment of confusion in her eyes, seemingly puzzled why Jian Jixing had stopped.
The moment the pheromones spread, the door to the special ward locked automatically. It became a space where they wouldn’t be disturbed.
The originally spacious room felt extremely cramped because Jian Jixing was kneeling over her. Sheng Ruxi had no chance to escape.
Finally coming to her senses, Sheng Ruxi pushed back, but Jian Jixing’s knee moved forward, sliding between her legs.
This further intrusion left Sheng Ruxi with no strength to resist. Jian Jixing tilted her head and, near Sheng Ruxi’s jawline, bit Sheng Ruxi’s earlobe again as if as a punishment.
She ground her teeth against the previous wound she had made, causing Sheng Ruxi to let out an involuntary muffled groan of pain.
“Let go!” Sheng Ruxi groaned, letting her arms fall and pushing at Jian Jixing with a flushed face.
All thoughts of sincerity or conflict vanished in the wake of this painful yet tingling touch. Sheng Ruxi wanted to stay clear-headed, but her body refused to listen, becoming softer and softer as if preparing to receive.
“How can there be… a person like you?” Sheng Ruxi panted, her snowy teeth faintly visible. She wanted to bite, but Jian Jixing pinched her cheek and actually laughed.
Searching for sincerity? Where do you find that? Do you find it in someone’s mouth?
“I’m telling you the truth, but you won’t believe me.” Jian Jixing’s fingertips felt very soft; she loosened her grip, afraid of truly hurting Sheng Ruxi.
Even so, Sheng Ruxi’s skin was delicate, and that brief squeeze left an ambiguous red mark.
Despite this, Jian Jixing didn’t let go. She realized Sheng Ruxi’s face felt wonderful to pinch, like a marshmallow.
Amused by her own thought, she watched as Sheng Ruxi was forced to pout slightly. When Sheng Ruxi spoke, a glistening moisture appeared on her lips: “Partners don’t treat each other like this. Jian Jixing, don’t go too far.”
Between them, Sheng Ruxi usually called the shots.
“There is no precedent,” Jian Jixing said, reaching out with her other hand to cover Sheng Ruxi’s eyes, “so let’s create one.”
Who says partners don’t kiss? Now they do.
She easily took the dominant position.
As an Alpha’s instinct, if her Omega wanted to run, she was being merciful by not directly biting Sheng Ruxi’s neck.
Sheng Ruxi surely wanted to curse her out, but it didn’t matter. Jian Jixing had discovered the best way.
Kissing.
The greatest invention in the world.
Who was the first person to discover that if you press your mouths together, you can’t talk?
As Jian Jixing covered Sheng Ruxi’s lips again, she felt a sharp pain in her lower lip, and the metallic taste of blood immediately welled up. The pain jolted her wavering spirit. Jian Jixing frowned but did not release the hand firmly gripping the back of Sheng Ruxi’s neck.
Their postures shifted, but their bodies remained entangled. The temperature climbed rapidly.
The hospital bed let out a faint creak. Jian Jixing read the “push-and-pull” hesitation in Sheng Ruxi’s movements. She hooked her arm around Sheng Ruxi’s waist and pulled her up, letting Sheng Ruxi sit on her lap.
Her knees supported Sheng Ruxi’s soft body as they kissed. The hand pressed against the back of Sheng Ruxi’s neck was a clear reminder—don’t run.
Jian Jixing’s pheromones took over aggressively, overpowering Sheng Ruxi’s and filling the entire room.
She swallowed Sheng Ruxi’s breath, easily bringing Sheng Ruxi’s weak hands back to her own shoulders. Everywhere she looked was a spring-like scene of peach-pinks and soft whites.
The tears that hadn’t fallen during her grievance earlier now trembled on Sheng Ruxi’s long lashes, like delicate feathers stroking Jian Jixing’s heart.
Sensing Jian Jixing watching her, Sheng Ruxi closed her misty eyes tight, letting helpless teardrops roll down.
Humiliation, annoyance, and a blooming radiance appeared on Sheng Ruxi’s face simultaneously. She didn’t refuse again.
Jian Jixing pulled back slightly to take in Sheng Ruxi’s expression.
Once the pheromones surged, logic took a backseat. She could no longer control herself.
Sheng Ruxi’s body and the sweetness of the pheromones soaked Jian Jixing in honey. Almost effortlessly, she recalled their first kiss.
That time, Sheng Ruxi had been very proactive. Her legs had gone weak, but as she fell into Jian Jixing’s embrace, she had suddenly lunged forward, biting and kissing fiercely.
Unfortunately, it hadn’t happened again since then.
They hadn’t been very sober that time, making it vastly different from now. This time, Jian Jixing could clearly perceive every change in Sheng Ruxi—how her initial stiffness gradually melted into a spring stream.
Sheng Ruxi’s waist and legs felt like a snake coiling around her.
Jian Jixing had to admit that the current Sheng Ruxi was intoxicating, and she was not immune.
In this brief moment of kissing her, Jian Jixing’s mind was full of Sheng Ruxi and nothing else. If Sheng Ruxi wanted a sliver of sincerity, would this satisfy her?
At the very least, she finally understood Sheng Ruxi’s unspoken desire.
When their lips parted, Sheng Ruxi opened her eyes, her hands instinctively hooking around Jian Jixing’s neck.
Jian Jixing leaned in to brush against the corner of Sheng Ruxi’s mouth, her tone playful yet soothing: “Do you see my sincerity now?”
Sheng Ruxi didn’t want to say a single word. She felt like she would cry the moment she opened her mouth. She couldn’t believe she could be bullied into tears just by a kiss from Jian Jixing.
She hammered against Jian Jixing, but her wrists were caught and gently rubbed: “If you refuse now, we can still stop here.”
Jian Jixing paused her movements, her eyes asking the question.
Sheng Ruxi pursed her lips, her lashes wet with tears. A salty tide washed over her senses, dismantling her last bit of stubbornness.
Jian Jixing clearly knew what she meant. But she was such a jerk, insisting on waiting for Sheng Ruxi to say it herself.
Sheng Ruxi’s breathing became chaotic in the shared air. Her fingers on the back of Jian Jixing’s neck trembled, but then she suddenly tightened her grip, pulling the other woman toward her in the most honest response.
At that moment, the tide rose and fell.
Her body was falling, but her consciousness was soaring.
And Sheng Ruxi responded to her.
Jian Jixing was stunned for a moment, then the corners of her mouth curled up. Yes, this was the spirit Sheng Ruxi should have.
Even if Jian Jixing’s pheromones were overwhelming, Sheng Ruxi was a little fox who wouldn’t just obey; she was determined to take back control.
After a while, Jian Jixing’s movements softened, pulling back slightly to let Sheng Ruxi catch her breath.
As Sheng Ruxi panted, Jian Jixing breathed into her ear, teasing:
“It’s not like you haven’t filmed kiss scenes. Why haven’t you learned how to breathe yet?”
Jian Jixing, would you die if you didn’t talk?!
She had filmed kiss scenes, not French kissing scenes, okay?
And Sheng Ruxi had truly never kissed so intensely before. How was she supposed to know Jian Jixing was so domineering when it came to kissing?
“You are really… quite fierce.”
Jian Jixing raised her hand to gently wipe away Sheng Ruxi’s tears: “You complain to people about being bullied, but what kind of protection are you looking for?”
Sheng Ruxi wanted to be angry. She curled her legs, unable to understand how Jian Jixing could stir and control her so easily with just one hand. Her throat felt choked, but she suppressed it, not wanting Jian Jixing to hear those sounds.
The blanket had long since been kicked aside. Everything around them was clean and white, yet they were immersed in chaos.
“If I were gentler, you’d just walk all over me.” Jian Jixing knew Sheng Ruxi was reaching her limit and gradually slowed the pace.
Do you even see what you’re doing? I’d dare to walk over you?
Sheng Ruxi’s eyes were perfectly understood by Jian Jixing.
“How would I dare? In this world, only you would dare.” Jian Jixing gripped Sheng Ruxi’s waist. Her fingers moved beneath the hem of the loose hospital gown, stopping at the sensitive curve of her waist, her fingertips already hooking into the loose waistband of the trousers.
Though the hospital clothes were specially prepared for her, they were loose everywhere. Jian Jixing only had to pull slightly to stretch the elastic band.
Sheng Ruxi’s nerves pulled taut as well.
“Who told you to touch there…”
Looking at Sheng Ruxi’s ears, which were flushed deep red like vermillion, Jian Jixing just laughed softly.
Jian Jixing had completely mastered her. Sheng Ruxi was swept away by a sense of shame. The lights were so bright—how many quirks did Jian Jixing have? Did she have to do it in the light?
Between them, aside from those two mandatory tasks, she wouldn’t have deigned to comply if Jian Jixing hadn’t softened her tone.
Including this time.
Sheng Ruxi’s nails were a bit long, decorated with glittering small diamonds and beautiful polar-color shimmer. She reached out a finger, like touching a piece of moonlight, and poked Jian Jixing’s chest.
Her other hand gripped the side of Jian Jixing’s neck.
The most fragile pulse point of the human body throbbed under Sheng Ruxi’s fingertips. It was as if she would take Jian Jixing’s life the next moment if she didn’t behave.
“Stop now.”
“What do you want?”
Seeing the redness on the corner of Jian Jixing’s lips, Sheng Ruxi raised her chin, swallowing her rising sobs: “You have to beg me.”
Jian Jixing loosened her grip. As Sheng Ruxi flipped them over, the only thing that didn’t move was the hand protecting Sheng Ruxi’s waist. This woman didn’t know her own strength; without the support, she might have fallen off the bed.
With Jian Jixing’s tacit permission, Sheng Ruxi flipped over to sit on top of her, both hands propped on Jian Jixing’s shoulders.
Jian Jixing laughed and gave her waist a steadying nudge to make sure she wouldn’t fall.
Those beautiful fingertips wandered inch by inch from the neck to the collarbone.
Jian Jixing’s gaze followed the movement of Sheng Ruxi’s hand.
Just as Jian Jixing had done, Sheng Ruxi teased her by letting her fingertips linger at the edge of Jian Jixing’s pants.
Indeed, once inhibitions are lost, things easily spiral out of control.
“Fine, I beg you.” Jian Jixing stared at her. “Is that enough? I want to bite you, right now.”
Sheng Ruxi’s face was burning. She felt that Jian Jixing’s words were spoken for her, rather than being Jian Jixing’s own true thoughts.
Sheng Ruxi hooked her finger and pulled Jian Jixing’s shirt up. Jian Jixing had a great physique; even lying on the bed, her faint abdominal lines were visible.
Sheng Ruxi pressed her nails along those faint lines, a sense of excitement rising in her heart.
It turned out that messing with Jian Jixing was quite fun.
Sheng Ruxi smiled, looking down at Jian Jixing from above.
The next moment, she lowered herself, pinching Jian Jixing’s jaw, about to kiss her.
She wanted to know what Jian Jixing had been feeling just now.
Her loose hair cascaded onto the skin like fine water. Jian Jixing stared intently at Sheng Ruxi, never looking away for a second.
She knew Sheng Ruxi was alluring, but—
Sheng Ruxi was still too bold. She perhaps didn’t know that being on the bottom didn’t affect an Alpha’s performance. It didn’t matter who was on top.
Jian Jixing grew impatient with Sheng Ruxi’s slow descent. She grabbed the hem of Sheng Ruxi’s clothes and pulled her down hard.
Using herself as a cushion, she let Sheng Ruxi fall firmly against her.
Under Jian Jixing’s force, two of the buttons on Sheng Ruxi’s top popped off.
She caught Sheng Ruxi and simultaneously grabbed her calf, lifting it up.
Fortunately, Sheng Ruxi’s body was incredibly flexible—something Jian Jixing had noted before. When that trembling ankle was pulled up to Jian Jixing’s shoulder, their positions shifted subtly.
Sheng Ruxi lost her leverage and had no strength left. Using her firm core, Jian Jixing sat up effortlessly without any external help, pinning Sheng Ruxi toward the foot of the bed.
Though Sheng Ruxi’s trousers were technically still on, it was only superficial.
A warm palm pressed against her through the fabric. The heat made her body shudder. Stimulated, Sheng Ruxi tried to hold it in, but she couldn’t stop the moisture from leaking from the corners of her eyes and soaking the bedsheets.
Jian Jixing freed one hand, grabbed Sheng Ruxi’s wrist, and pulled it up. She leaned forward to make it easier for Sheng Ruxi to wrap her arms around her neck, fearing she was too weak.
Overcome with shame, Sheng Ruxi squeezed her eyes shut, her lashes soaked.
Her knee was no longer resting on Jian Jixing’s shoulder but was stretched out, the leg pushed straight and burdened.
“Your pants are wet.” Jian Jixing acted like she didn’t care. “What do you want me to do now? I’m all yours.”
At a moment when they absolutely should not have stopped, she intentionally paused.
Only one step left.
And she threw the question back at her!
This wasn’t a question; it was blatant flirting.
Sheng Ruxi cried even harder. The sense of emptiness in her heart was toyed with, neither here nor there. She truly hated Jian Jixing.
At a time like this, she was still competing with her.
And Sheng Ruxi could only surrender.
Sheng Ruxi kicked her, but her other ankle was caught and folded inward, further shortening the distance between them.
For a moment, Sheng Ruxi was in a daze.
In her frustration, unable to bite her, she used her finger to press against the location of Jian Jixing’s scent gland.
Jian Jixing’s eyes darkened instantly.
In this position, there was a small gap behind Sheng Ruxi’s waist. Jian Jixing didn’t wait any longer and pulled the obstacle away.
Between late spring and early summer, the heat ebbed and flowed, eventually merging.
The moisture brought by the rain merged with the fire, until they were finally indistinguishable.
…
The doors and windows were tightly sealed; not even a breeze could get in. The room was thick and sweet, a paradise of pheromones.
The crumbling defense was finally brought down by desire, soaking the clean sheets.
Not until she got up from the bed again did Jian Jixing take the clothes she had asked Tuanzi to send over a few minutes ago to help Sheng Ruxi clean up.
Setting her jacket aside, Jian Jixing was left in only a camisole, which was wrinkled up to her waist. She didn’t pay much attention to it. The jacket that had been discarded earlier was now back in her hand, and she used it to cover the damp patch on the bed.
On her face, there was a slap mark that hadn’t faded yet.
“You’ve got quite the strength. Seems like you’re gradually adapting to this place.” Despite being slapped, Jian Jixing didn’t feel any pain; instead, she traced the faint marks with her fingers, her lips curling up.
“Are you any better? You dog.” Sheng Ruxi’s face was tense as she pulled down her pant legs to hide the bite marks.
Jian Jixing, to prove how good her teeth were, hadn’t just bitten her earlobe but had bitten all the way down to her leg.
Thinking of what just happened, Sheng Ruxi’s toes under the blanket couldn’t help but curl, a numbing current passing through her body.
When she landed that slap, the expression on Jian Jixing’s face made Sheng Ruxi regret—why did she reward her?
Jian Jixing in bed was truly a different person, and today she was thoroughly bad.
Once in front of the live-stream camera, once in the hospital.
She noticed that Jian Jixing became more excited than usual before these special situations.
She wanted to keep mocking Jian Jixing, but the words stayed at the tip of her tongue as she felt a bit guilty because she had been completely “fed” just now.
Still, she couldn’t swallow her anger: “Why do you always pick such strange places? You can’t do this next time.”
Jian Jixing found it funny. Was it my choice? When she had bitten in earlier, Sheng Ruxi’s pheromones had almost drowned her.
But she nodded and agreed: “Then next time will be at home.”
Though Jian Jixing hadn’t had a rut in all these years, since marrying Sheng Ruxi, she was quite proactive during those two days each month.
It was the first time Sheng Ruxi had seen Jian Jixing so submissive, which only made her angrier: “I don’t want you to clean up for me.”
Jian Jixing happened to lean over to fix some wrinkled clothes and sheets. Sheng Ruxi’s toe kicked her shoulder: “Did you hear me?”
“I heard you.” Jian Jixing reached out and grabbed Sheng Ruxi’s ankle. “I’ll leave as soon as I finish cleaning.”
Oh, right. She still had to see the doctor.
As Sheng Ruxi’s family member.
Sheng Ruxi laughed in anger: “What act are you playing now? Not hitting back or talking back.” Where was this earlier!
“Can’t help it.” Jian Jixing shrugged, her tone serious. “One’s mouth is soft after eating from others.” (A Chinese idiom meaning one is beholden to someone after receiving benefits/favors from them, but used here as a double entendre).
We’re talking business, why are you talking about eating?
Eat…
After realizing the double meaning, Sheng Ruxi’s face flushed red, and she was on the verge of losing it. She hated that she only had two hands and couldn’t wrap her whole body up so Jian Jixing couldn’t see anything!
Indecent!
Jian Jixing chuckled and carefully lowered her leg. “Rest up. I’m leaving.”
Once Jian Jixing stepped out of the ward, Sheng Ruxi’s face turned red, and she kept kicking the blanket: “What kind of hooligan talk is that…”
And she left marks all over her body.
What she didn’t know was that not just the room, but the hallway outside the ward was heavily covered in Jian Jixing’s orange-peel incense scent, domineeringly rejecting any Alphas from approaching.
When Jian Jixing entered the doctor’s office, the doctor frowned and covered her nose immediately.
The doctor was an Alpha. She looked at Jian Jixing helplessly, finding it hard to speak through the scent: “Don’t use this method to cause trouble in the hospital.”
“…Sorry.” Jian Jixing immediately realized and used a cleaning spray nearby to mask the scent on herself before sitting down in front of the doctor.
“…”
Even though she had worked at this hospital for many years and seen many unusual things, the fact that Sheng Ruxi’s fixed Alpha partner was Jian Jixing still shocked her.
Seeing the doctor’s expression, Jian Jixing knew the impact of her being Sheng Ruxi’s partner was not small.
“She has only one Alpha partner, and that’s me. This matter needs to be kept confidential; I trust the doctor won’t disappoint.” Jian Jixing was concise. “What went wrong with her?”
The doctor nodded, falling silent for a while as she thought about where to start.
