- After Entering a Marriage Agreement with My Benefactor, This Tsundere Beauty Sends Me Money Every Night
- Chapter 4 - You Are the Most Suitable One
Bo Jianyan went through a bit of a mental brainstorm. Aside from complex business problems, few things had managed to shock him one after another like this.
Gu Huai didn’t dare to look up at him after speaking, but his bright red ears betrayed him. Despite his cold expression, he was clearly blushing hard enough to bleed.
Fearing Bo Jianyan might misunderstand again, he continued to explain, “I’m an actor. It’s not what you think.”
“Also, last time was… my first time. You didn’t lose out.”
After saying this, his head dropped completely. In all his years, this was his first time experiencing poverty, and his first time being treated like a male escort. Gu Huai felt a bit numb to the world.
Bo Jianyan finally snapped out of it, but the amusement in his eyes was impossible to hide. “Cough. So, you’re very short on money?”
Gu Huai nodded, then added with some hesitation, “I had a falling out with my family. Can you temporarily return that 500,000 to me?”
“I can write an IOU!”
Bo Jianyan glanced at him and smiled slightly. “I can return it to you, but I have one condition.”
Gu Huai felt something was off, but seeing a chance to get his money back, he couldn’t care less. “What condition?”
“My family is busy nagging me to get married. They insisted I bring a partner home in a few days. I’ve drafted a protocol agreement here. Why don’t you take a look?”
Gu Huai didn’t speak, his mind a whirlpool of thoughts. Wait, what? Holy crap, really?
Taking the contract, Gu Huai was still uncertain. “But we don’t even know each other.”
Bo Jianyan pursed his lips, his handsome brows furrowing slightly. “We’ve slept together twice. I can’t think of a better candidate than you.”
Gu Huai immediately looked away, unable to meet his eyes. Damn, this is so embarrassing.
He flipped open the contract and began reading. It was written in great detail, looking as though it had been prepared for a long time.
Bo Jianyan continued, “I can pay you 500,000 every month.”
“Also, you don’t need to feel burdened. Just put on an act. If you meet someone you like during the contract period, the agreement can be terminated on the spot.”
Hearing words that offered nothing but benefits, Gu Huai flipped through and saw a few particularly eye-catching clauses:
“Party B may unconditionally make requests of Party A during the contract period.”
“All of Party B’s living expenses during the contract period shall be covered by Party A.”
“If either Party A or Party B needs to pursue their own happiness, the contract shall be terminated immediately.”
Gu Huai thought it over. Since he currently had nothing to his name, signing this contract with Bo Jianyan wasn’t a huge deal. Party A’s name was already signed at the bottom, as if it had been waiting for him.
Without further thought, Gu Huai signed his name with a flourish.
A hint of warmth entered Bo Jianyan’s eyes. “There’s one million in the card now.”
Gu Huai: “!”
So straightforward! He liked it! Also, so this man’s name was Bo Jianyan. It was a nice name.
They each kept a copy of the contract. Gu Huai was about to say something when he noticed the bite marks on Bo Jianyan’s neck. Knowing it was his own handiwork, he awkwardly averted his gaze.
Trying to act composed, he asked, “It’s my first time being someone’s ‘partner.’ What do I need to do?”
Bo Jianyan saw his red ears and couldn’t resist teasing him. “Never been in a relationship?”
Gu Huai didn’t look like a “good boy”; he had a bit of a rebellious streak. Hearing that it was his first time made Bo Jianyan a bit surprised.
Gu Huai frowned. He truly hadn’t experienced it. When others were dating in school, he was usually obsessed with online games. While they were posting emo break-up messages at midnight, he was often breaking down because he couldn’t defeat a game boss. After starting work, he was as busy as a dog every day.
The more Bo Jianyan looked at him, the more he wanted to tease him. “Just like what normal couples do. Kissing, saying sweet things.”
At the mention of that, Gu Huai thought of the scenes from the previous two nights, and his ears flushed again. “No kissing. Pick something else.”
He quickly changed the subject. “How old are you anyway? Why is your family nagging you so hard that you need a contract marriage?”
“Twenty-eight.”
Gu Huai’s expression turned solemn. “No wonder. You’re six years older than me.”
Bo Jianyan, who had been smiling, froze. He looked at him with a resentful gaze. “Do you think I’m old?”
Gu Huai realized he had said the wrong thing and turned his head, not daring to look at him. He suddenly remembered he hadn’t returned to Xie Wenye’s place all night. He tried to stand up hurriedly, only to find his body was incredibly sore.
Gu Huai bit his lip, wondering how to explain this to Xie Wenye.
Bo Jianyan took out his phone. “By the way, as your ‘Party A,’ can I have your contact info?”
After adding each other, Gu Huai quickly set his nickname as: [Party A 28].
Bo Jianyan spoke up, “Shall I drive you back? I’ll contact you on WeChat if anything comes up.”
Gu Huai didn’t look up. “Yeah, thanks for the trouble.”
Once they were in the car, Gu Huai gave the driver a location and lowered his head to play with his phone.
Bo Jianyan clicked on Gu Huai’s profile. The avatar was a selfie of himself looking quite youthful, likely taken a few years ago. His WeChat name was just his initials: GH.
There were no posts on his Moments. Bo Jianyan raised an eyebrow.
Gu Huai didn’t know what to talk about in the car; they had only known each other for a few days. Every time he thought of their two encounters, his ears turned red again.
Bo Jianyan cleared his throat. “To make the act convincing, we should find a good day to go and register for a marriage certificate.”
Gu Huai nodded, his face returning to its usual “do not disturb” expression.
Bo Jianyan finally settled his mind and remembered that Song Chengchi had thoroughly investigated Gu Huai before coming here.
He opened WeChat: “Send over the document I asked you to check.”
Song Chengchi: [Gu_Huai.docx]
Bo Jianyan opened it and frowned. Why was there only the most basic information? The family background section was completely blank.
Song Chengchi’s message followed: “Hey, Bo. He’s not simple. I can’t find anything about his background.”
Bo Jianyan looked up at the person who had already fallen asleep beside him. Interesting. He had found an interesting partner for himself.
Song Chengchi: “What do you plan to do next?”
Bo Jianyan thought for a moment: “Get the marriage certificate, then take him to the old manor to meet the family.”
Song Chengchi: “? Respect.”
Song Chengchi: “Is this really just a business relationship??”
A hint of a smile touched Bo Jianyan’s eyes: “For him, yes. For me, I can’t guarantee it.”
“Oh, and he’s not an Omega.”
Song Chengchi: “!? Love at first sight??”
Song Chengchi: “A Beta??”
Song Chengchi: “Holy crap, you’re an animal as always, Bo.”
When they reached the designated location, Bo Jianyan woke him up. Seeing him looking bleary-eyed and sleepy, Bo Jianyan thought he looked quite cute.
He couldn’t resist reaching out to ruffle Gu Huai’s hair. “We’re here.”
Startled by the sudden proximity, Gu Huai leaned back instinctively. “Thanks.”
After getting out of the car, Gu Huai stood at the entrance, feeling a bit dazed. He couldn’t understand why he was feeling flustered over an Alpha he had only met a few times. He touched his forehead. No fever.
As soon as he entered the house, Xie Wenye heard the noise and rushed out. “Stay right there. Don’t move.”
After checking that he wasn’t missing any limbs, Xie Wenye finally relaxed. But he soon noticed something wrong, his tone turning sharp. “Did they threaten you yesterday?”
Gu Huai tilted his chin up, a smile in his eyes. “If they dared to threaten me, do you think you’d be seeing me here right now?”
“True. With your temper, you’d probably snap their wrists.” Xie Wenye paused. “But why is there an Alpha’s pheromone scent on you, and those hickeys? Don’t tell me those are from the last time.”
Gu Huai knew he couldn’t hide it, so he gave a brief explanation.
Xie Wenye: “You’re something else. If that Alpha hadn’t shown up, wouldn’t you have been ‘sponsored’ by that director?”
Gu Huai patted his shoulder. “Don’t worry, it didn’t happen. But I’m not going to let those people off easy.”
Before Gu Huai could even take action, Xie Wenye jumped up from the sofa while scrolling through Weibo. “Holy crap, Gu Huai! Isn’t this the director you met last night?”
Gu Huai leaned over to look. It really was him. Interesting. It was the top trending topic on Weibo.

- #Director Wang Involved in Illegal Substances#
Ji Chen’s call came in at that moment. Her voice was urgent. “Hello, Gu Huai? I saw the trending topics. Are you okay? Did anything happen yesterday?”
“The company told me it was just for some ‘good word’ networking.”
Gu Huai heard how worried she was and realized he had replied to Xie Wenye first and ignored her messages. “I’m fine, Sister Chen. A friend picked me up halfway, so that old beast didn’t get his hands on me.”
After soothing Ji Chen, Gu Huai looked closely at the trending topics. He went silent, and one person immediately flashed in his mind.
He opened WeChat and sent a message to “Party A”: “Thank you.”
Bo Jianyan replied instantly: “No need for thanks. He’s done so many disgusting things; it’s time he faced the consequences.”
Gu Huai stared at the text and smiled for some reason. “Okay.”
Ji Chen rushed over to see Gu Huai that evening. Seeing that he was truly fine, she breathed a sigh of relief and handed him several scripts.
Gu Huai looked at the scripts spread across the table, his eyes filled with shock. “This?”
Ji Chen waved her hand. “The company is acting crazy for some reason. They told me to let you pick from these top-tier projects.”
Gu Huai felt something was suspicious. “Shouldn’t these scripts go to Lin Yu first? I’m practically a nobody.”
Ji Chen snapped, “If the company gives them to you, just pick one! Why worry about that?”
“Pick well and film well. Your chance to make a comeback has arrived.”
Under Ji Chen’s prodding and Xie Wenye’s cheering, Gu Huai eventually chose a Wuxia (martial arts) script. It was an adaptation of the currently most popular novel: A Sword Frosts the Cold.
Gu Huai was instantly captivated by the plot. He rarely had access to resources of this caliber. Usually, the top stars took their pick, and he only got the leftovers, most of which were terrible. His fans often lamented under his Weibo posts: “Why do you keep taking bad roles? It’s a waste of such a beautiful face.”
After he picked the script, Ji Chen told him to rest well. There would be an audition in a few days. The director of this film was notoriously strict; no matter how much pressure the investors put on him, he would never accept an actor who didn’t fit the role.
