After Being Reborn, My Ex-Girlfriend Became Obsessed - Chapter 59
An Yu’s heart tightened as she heard Lin Duxi’s voice. She stepped forward, looking at the furrowed brows of Lin Duxi, unable to resist calling out softly:
“Lin Duxi… Lin Duxi, are you okay? Why did you drink so much?”
The person slumped on the sofa seemed completely unaware of her voice, lying still without moving. Only the furrow between her brows indicated that she had some awareness.
An Yu walked over and crouched beside her. The smell of alcohol immediately enveloped her, and she could now hear Lin Duxi’s trembling voice more clearly.
“Don’t leave… don’t abandon me… don’t… mom…” The final sobs turned into whispers that twisted in her throat, stirring waves in An Yu’s heart.
“An Yu… don’t leave… I only have you… An Yu.”
Having drunk, Lin Duxi’s words were confused and unclear. It was as if she had fallen into a deep nightmare, speaking aloud whatever memories the dream stirred. An Yu listened to her murmurs, her heart tightening with each trembling sound.
Could today’s events have reminded her of past traumas? An Yu recalled the cases she had looked up online, symptoms repeating in her mind.
If today had indeed triggered memories of old shadows, what exactly had Lin Duxi gone through before?
An Yu frowned but set aside her curiosity for the moment. She helped Lin Duxi take off her coat, poured a glass of water, then helped her sit up and pulled her into her arms, holding the water to her lips.
“Let’s have some water, okay?” she coaxed softly.
Lin Duxi, still foggy-headed, obeyed the familiar, comforting voice and slowly parted her lips, drinking the water bit by bit.
An Yu kept her in that position until she finished, then gently carried her into the bedroom. Luckily, she had visited Lin Duxi’s room that morning, so she roughly knew the layout.
She placed Lin Duxi on the bed, turned on the light, tucked the hair from her face behind her ear, exposing her pale ear, and looked at Lin Duxi, still drowsy. An Yu leaned over and said softly, “I’ll go prepare the bath water; you rest for a bit.” Even she found it slightly amusing—Lin Duxi was this drunk, whether she could hear her or not was another matter.
As she stood, she felt someone grab her. Looking down, Lin Duxi held tightly onto the hem of her clothes, brows furrowed, sleep restless.
An Yu crouched, holding Lin Duxi’s hand. “I’ll be right back, I won’t leave. Don’t worry.”
Perhaps hearing An Yu’s gentle voice, Lin Duxi slowly released her grip.
An Yu studied her face deeply. She had only turned on the bedside lamp, casting a soft yellow light that wasn’t harsh. Lin Duxi lay on the bed, the light highlighting the pain etched on her face.
An Yu didn’t think too much, quickly going to prepare the bath water.
The sound of water echoed in the bathroom, each drop falling into Lin Duxi’s ears, stirring even deeper pain in her mind. She dreamt of An Yu falling from upstairs, only this time the dream was clearer, more immobilizing.
She watched helplessly as An Yu fell from the sky, blood staining her clean clothes, her pale arms and face. Lin Duxi could do nothing, unable even to scream.
Her heart felt like it was shattering; the pain coursed through her limbs, her vision saturated in red, pupils trembling. The pain in her mind intensified severalfold. She struggled, then felt the sudden weightlessness, followed by the impact of her body hitting the floor.
Lin Duxi felt pain in her elbow, then furrowed her brows and opened her eyes. The red scene gradually shifted back to the bedroom layout. She looked at the bed beside her, struggling to get up. Perhaps due to the alcohol, her already splitting headache worsened.
She still couldn’t fully shake the nightmare, the pain making reality and dream blur together. Losing An Yu in the dream felt unbearably real, like countless threads entangling her heart, tightening it until she couldn’t breathe.
The air still carried traces of An Yu’s scent, a fragrance An Yu loved—cool yet intoxicating.
Squinting, she weakly tried to discern her surroundings, letting the pain consume her mind and body. Then, she heard the sound of water from the bathroom.
The splashing echoed in her ears like pouring rain, stirring her heart. Her chest pounded violently. She rose barefoot, stumbling to the bathroom door, and with trembling hands, pulled it open.
An Yu crouched by the bathtub, testing the water temperature, her mind racing with thoughts on how Lin Duxi could bathe in this state. Could she manage on her own?
An Yu hesitated, not wanting to take advantage, and doubted Lin Duxi would agree anyway.
Lost in thought, she didn’t notice the sounds from the bedroom until the bathroom door suddenly swung open, letting in a cold draft. She shivered and turned to see Lin Duxi standing there.
“Lin Duxi—” An Yu hadn’t finished speaking when she felt a tremendous force push her backward into the bathtub. When she regained her senses, she realized a warm, fragrant weight was pressed against her.
Lin Duxi, like a vine with no master, clung to An Yu, burying her head deeply in her neck. The bath water was warm, but the bathtub cold beneath them. An Yu frowned and pushed Lin Duxi’s shoulder.
“Lin Duxi, what are you doing? Get down!”
The water pushed them closer. Lin Duxi didn’t move; if anything, she held on tighter, tilting her head, lips pressed against An Yu’s ear. “An Yu, you can’t leave me. I only have you. Don’t leave me, okay? I’ll give you anything you want.”
Ignoring An Yu’s words, Lin Duxi let go briefly, then looked into her eyes.
The water rippled, clothes soaked and clinging to their bodies, revealing their figures.
Lin Duxi’s knit sweater absorbed the water, hanging heavily like ropes binding her. She didn’t seem to care, only staring deeply into An Yu’s eyes, her gaze full of obsessive love. She leaned over, pressing her lips firmly to An Yu’s.
An Yu’s eyes widened, instinctively reaching to push Lin Duxi, but Lin Duxi pressed her hands against the wall, locking her in place.
An Yu struggled, legs kicking in the water, creating splashes, but Lin Duxi straddled her, preventing movement.
Lin Duxi kissed urgently, pouring all her obsessive love into An Yu. The soft lips invaded fiercely. An Yu couldn’t move, and the alcohol seemed to have affected Lin Duxi, intoxicating her further. Shame and anger surged, and she bit hard in retaliation.
Lin Duxi paused, frowning, but didn’t release; she bit back. An Yu groaned, the taste of blood filling her mouth.
Moonlight streamed through the window, and An Yu gasped, chest rising and falling. Her lips were numb and swollen. She looked at Lin Duxi—her lips still bleeding, wet hair sticking to her cheeks, looking pitiful.
An Yu couldn’t help but smile, having bitten just as hard.
Lin Duxi panted, the pure white sweater now speckled with blood, oddly out of place. She pressed her lips together, smiling slightly, eyes hidden beneath wet lashes, revealing the depth of her obsession.
“An Yu, whatever you want, I’ll give you… just don’t leave me…” she murmured, leaning over to continue.
An Yu turned her head, pushing her shoulder.
“Lin Duxi, you’re seriously sick!”
Lin Duxi smiled, moving An Yu’s hand to her cheek, half-closing her eyes, pressing her face against An Yu’s palm like a docile kitten.
Indeed, she was sick, beyond cure.
An Yu quickly withdrew her hand. Lin Duxi froze, dazed.
“I need to get down and change,” An Yu said, swinging her wrist, wishing she could slap her past self for letting this happen. Lin Duxi’s strength was too great, she had no choice but to comply.
Lin Duxi looked up, foggy eyes misted with tears. Her disheveled appearance made her look pitiful.
“If you want to leave, An Yu…” Lin Duxi said, voice hoarse.
“You’ve made a mistake; punishment is deserved. I understand,” she whispered, clutching An Yu’s hand, dragging her into the warm water again, disturbing the surface she had just calmed.
An Yu’s mind was drawn into Lin Duxi’s deep, passionate gaze. She momentarily forgot to resist. The water had cooled slightly. The bathroom door was open, and a draft blew over An Yu’s wet clothes, making her shiver.
Her eyes widened, finally breaking free of Lin Duxi’s hold, hands trembling at her sides.
“Lin Duxi, are you really sick!” she shouted, unable to hold back. Lin Duxi lowered her head, acting submissive, but before An Yu could say more, she leaned against her.
“An Yu… do you despise me so much? Don’t hate me, okay? I’m yours, everything I have is yours, An Yu.”
Lin Duxi’s entire strength held An Yu tightly, her body soft, relying entirely on An Yu. Her head rested on An Yu’s shoulder, quiet sobs falling.
Warm tears trickled onto her shoulder; the soft whimpers calmed all of An Yu’s anger. She lowered her lashes, no longer pushing her away.
Lin Duxi’s mind was still foggy, all her strength spent. The scent of An Yu’s perfume lingered in her nose. Slowly, she drifted to sleep.
Hearing her gradually slowing breaths, An Yu sighed, moving carefully to avoid waking her.
Finally, An Yu helped her change into pajamas, gently drying her hair with a towel to half-dry, tucking the blanket securely to prevent a chill.
After finishing, she realized she hadn’t changed her own clothes, but after so long, they were half-dry. She smiled helplessly, preparing to leave.
Suddenly, the person sleeping soundly on the bed stirred, reaching for her clothes, gripping tightly.
“Are you leaving, An Yu?”
An Yu turned, frowning slightly.
“I felt you were going to leave, so I woke up,” Lin Duxi said softly, voice hoarse.
“Don’t go, An Yu. Can you stay with me?” Lin Duxi held the fabric tightly, stubbornly watching her. “I’m so scared.”
An Yu didn’t know what Lin Duxi was afraid of, but looking into her shattered eyes, she finally softened.
Amusingly, her lips were still swollen and sore.
An Yu wanted to go home and change, but Lin Duxi wouldn’t allow it, letting her pick some unworn clothes from her wardrobe. An Yu picked a set casually, deciding not to change her underwear yet, planning to change it once Lin Duxi was asleep and she returned home.
An Yu moved to the other side of the bed. Lin Duxi’s gaze followed her. An Yu lifted the blanket, but then froze.
Her old coat lay quietly on the bed.
