After Being Reborn, My Ex-Girlfriend Became Obsessed - Chapter 55
An Yu was being held tightly by Lin Duxi, her full attention drawn to a spot on her neck. The warm, soft touch lingered there—restrained yet overwhelming, like a blooming flower releasing its fragrance throughout her body. An Yu felt dizzy, almost in a trance.
Noticing her shock, Lin Duxi took advantage of the moment to gently kiss her collarbone and blow softly, burying her breath into An Yu’s body. An Yu’s scent was entirely her own, which greatly satisfied Lin Duxi’s possessiveness and desire for exclusivity.
The moment lasted only a few seconds before Lin Duxi loosened her arms around An Yu and stepped back. The flashlight she had just turned off left the living room bathed only in faint moonlight, shadowing the expressions on their faces.
Lin Duxi curled her lips with delight. “Alright, An Yu, wait here. I’ll go get a change of clothes.”
She took An Yu’s hand, tapped it gently to signal her to wait, then left for the bedroom with the flashlight.
An Yu covered her face, feeling unusually hot. Thankfully, the power was out. She lightly touched the spot on her neck that still tingled from the previous warmth, which seemed to radiate outward as she pressed it, making her unable to resist rubbing it.
Later, An Yu went to the kitchen to start making noodles. After checking, she found the dough had not clumped yet, so she divided it into two small portions. Since it was late, she made a small meal to fill her stomach, frying two eggs as well.
Lin Duxi sat at the dining table, her coat draped over the chair, revealing the white shirt underneath. Feeling warm after rummaging through the house, she unbuttoned the top two buttons, revealing her fair skin and delicate collarbone.
An Yu brought over the noodles. Lin Duxi said “thanks” and quietly started eating.
An Yu picked up the noodles, chewing absentmindedly, her mind restless. She suddenly recalled that her cooking skills were initially taught by Lin Duxi. When she first stayed at her own home, An Yu, being a pampered young lady, was tired of the meals prepared by housemaids. Lin Duxi had personally cooked for her. Her dishes were homey, and though An Yu had grown accustomed to luxurious meals, she surprisingly enjoyed Lin Duxi’s cooking and insisted on learning. Lin Duxi was delighted and often taught her whenever they had free time in the kitchen.
Now, thinking back, An Yu realized she had never truly cared about the food itself—she just wanted more time alone with Lin Duxi. Initially, she had pretended to like the meals, but over time, she genuinely did, and her own cooking now carried Lin Duxi’s flavor.
After finishing, An Yu put the bowls in the dishwasher. Lin Duxi took her change of clothes to the bathroom to wash up. Their house only had a bathroom in the bedroom, so An Yu waited on the living room sofa.
The sound of water echoed softly, faintly reaching An Yu’s ears. She idly scrolled through her phone, her energy drained from the day.
Her Weibo account kept pinging notifications. She rarely logged into her main account these days, focusing more on her secondary account.
A picture she had posted in their CP super-topic had become a treasured post, drawing thousands of fans. A few messages quietly lay in the inbox:
“Have you seen the CP variety show recently?”
An Yu smiled—she didn’t need to watch; she was part of it. Opening the profile of a fan account named “Sleep 24 Hours a Day,” she saw a recent post: a photo of the moon with no caption or location.
The moon is beautiful, she thought.
“Have you been sleeping well?”
“Lately, I’m okay. Work is stable. In a couple of days, I’ll be starting that experimental job, so I need to work hard.”
She sent the message and waited, but received no reply. Putting the phone down, she continued scrolling while the bathroom water sounded like clean white noise, lulling her tired nerves.
The water gradually stopped. Lin Duxi came out of the bathroom, towel in hand, drying her hair. Water droplets fell onto the floor as she stepped out of the bedroom.
Remembering that An Yu had no guest room, she wondered if being a little clingy might convince An Yu to let her sleep in the bedroom.
She deliberately wore a sleepwear style she had never worn before. Her damp hair slightly wetted the fabric, outlining her figure as she opened the door and saw An Yu sleeping on the sofa.
An Yu slept restlessly, the phone wobbling in her hands, her breath light and even.
Lin Duxi’s heart ached at the sight, melting inside. She gently brushed An Yu’s hair behind her ear and took in the sight of her cool attire, letting out a soft laugh.
She passed her hands along An Yu’s neck and legs, lifting her gently. Their skin brushed, igniting a burning heat, making Lin Duxi intoxicated.
She placed An Yu on the bedroom bed and tucked her in. An Yu furrowed her brows and slowly opened her eyes, seeing a bright white space.
“Lin Duxi, you’re done washing?” she mumbled, slightly dazed. Her gaze couldn’t help but be drawn to Lin Duxi, who, backlit by the soft lamp, looked ethereal.
“Yes, now sleep,” Lin Duxi said, rubbing her head tenderly, overflowing with affection.
An Yu had a short dream of eating cake with Lin Duxi at school. Those memories resurfaced in her mind, leaving her confused about whether the person before her was real or a dream.
Lin Duxi’s heart trembled seeing her so focused. She couldn’t help but pinch An Yu’s cheek as the thin strap of her sleepwear slid off her shoulder. Moonlight streamed through the curtains, illuminating them.
An Yu nodded softly, grabbing Lin Duxi’s hand and pulling her into the bed, falling asleep peacefully.
Her unconscious caring deeply touched Lin Duxi’s heart. The evening breeze carried her racing heartbeat and deep affection into the quiet lake of night, making her chest pound fiercely.
I like her, I like her so much, I can’t live without her, Lin Duxi thought, yet she was utterly willing.
The next morning, An Yu awoke to find herself alone. She remembered falling asleep on the sofa waiting for Lin Duxi to finish washing up. A pang of unease struck her—she hadn’t spoken to Lin Duxi about some things yet.
She frowned at the empty bed beside her.
Did Lin Duxi not sleep in the bedroom last night?
Her chest felt heavy. Whether Lin Duxi had slept there or not seemed to matter, leaving her inexplicably troubled. She sighed.
Soon, the aroma of food reached her. She got up and opened the bedroom door, finding the living room quiet and filled with the smell of food. The kitchen had footsteps, and Lin Duxi stood there, wearing an apron and smiling at her.
“An Yu, you’re awake. Go wash up and eat,” she said. Sunlight softened her features, leaving only gentle warmth. She wore a cream knit sweater, her long hair tied low, exuding utmost gentleness.
An Yu obediently went to wash up, closing the door and covering her racing heart to calm it.
Lin Duxi now gave her a completely different feeling than before, and An Yu couldn’t describe it, but she had to admit she liked the change.
Or rather, she couldn’t dislike any version of Lin Duxi.
After breakfast, An Yu called the maintenance worker. Their upscale residential complex provided quick service, and a worker would arrive in about half an hour.
The two stayed in the apartment. An Yu flipped through the script, while Lin Duxi picked a book from the shelf and began reading.
An Yu struggled to focus on the script; the words refused to sink in. Sighing, she put it down and looked at Lin Duxi.
Sitting on the sofa across from her, Lin Duxi held the book quietly. An Yu thought of the word warmth, a light pang tugging at her heart.
Fearing she might overthink, she quickly asked, “I’m going to the orphanage with Shiyu in a couple of days. Do you want to come?”
Lin Duxi paused, then turned to her. “Orphanage?”
“Yes. Shiyu said she has a charity script and wants to find inspiration. She also asked me to come see the kids.”
Lin Duxi stroked the book’s cover. “When?”
“Tomorrow.”
Lin Duxi thought for a moment, her eyebrows slightly drooping. “I have something tomorrow,” she said regretfully.
“That’s okay. Shiyu and I can go first. We’ll go together when you’re free,” An Yu replied.
Lin Duxi looked at her, then stood and walked to sit next to her on the sofa, gazing at her with intense affection.
An Yu felt at a loss, lowering her eyes to avoid Lin Duxi’s sincere gaze. A low, seductive laugh rang in her ear, sparking fire.
Lin Duxi got up. “The maintenance worker will be here soon. Some light bulbs are broken. I’ll go buy some.”
“I’ll go with you,” An Yu said.
Lin Duxi placed her hands on An Yu’s shoulders and urged her to sit back down. “Someone needs to stay home. You stay here, I’ll be right back.” She gently hooked her finger on An Yu’s nose, silencing her more effectively than any medicine.
After Lin Duxi left, An Yu touched her flushed cheeks, finally understanding what made her feel so familiar yet special.
Since they started dating, Lin Duxi had fully revealed her clingy nature, wanting to spend almost every day together. If An Yu refused, she would pout and beg sweetly.
Now, Lin Duxi’s behavior mirrored how she had been in the past.
An Yu thought about last night. She hadn’t done much—just sat on the sofa and accidentally fell asleep…
Her pupils suddenly widened. She remembered once waking up and hugging Lin Duxi’s hand before she would sleep. An Yu closed her eyes and patted her face.
So embarrassing.
She went to the window and opened the curtains to get some fresh air. Looking in the mirror would have revealed her flushed face.
The cool breeze immediately blew away her embarrassed heat.
From the living room, she could see a few people on the ground outside. It was morning, and a few elders and joggers were scattered around the neighborhood. She casually watched below and noticed Lin Duxi, neatly dressed, walking at a leisurely pace.
Lin Duxi had excellent body proportions. Industry insiders would say she was naturally made to be an actress.
An Yu agreed. Back in high school, whenever Lin Duxi appeared in major events, the number of love letters she received could be recorded in stacks. During senior year, An Yu, who was closest to Lin Duxi, had seen all the letters and gifts thrown into the trash by herself. Lin Duxi encouraged her, and An Yu secretly felt happy.
An Yu smiled at the memory. In high school, she was truly carefree—throwing away others’ things so openly. Even though people knew she was close to Lin Duxi, no one dared to cause trouble because of her parents.
Watching from the window, Lin Duxi’s small back gradually disappeared into the distance. An Yu’s smile froze as she noticed something.
About ten meters behind Lin Duxi, a fully equipped man wearing a hat lurked suspiciously, glancing around as he followed her.
