After Being Reborn, My Ex-Girlfriend Became Obsessed - Chapter 50
An Yu didn’t know what Xie An’an had said to Lin Duxi. When Xie An’an came back, her face was full of smiles. Someone who didn’t know better might have thought Lin Duxi had said something to her.
Xie An’an pretended to be calm, sighed, and said, “I told her that you’re very sorry and want to ask for her forgiveness.”
An Yu didn’t detect the trap hidden in her words and asked further.
“And then?”
Xie An’an glanced at her: “Then, Lin Duxi got even angrier.”
An Yu’s heart sank. She tilted her head and looked over—Lin Duxi was chatting with the staff nearby. The early morning sunlight fell on her, casting a soft glow over her. Even her movements seemed gentle and full of warmth, completely unlike the look she had given An Yu earlier.
Seeing An Yu’s mood suddenly drop, Xie An’an sighed, patted her shoulder, and then walked away.
The scenery in the valley that morning was especially beautiful. Qiao Qingzhou didn’t want to return just yet, so she took out the prepared schedule to start early.
“Everyone, in a moment, each group’s members will go over there for interviews and Q&A. The questions come from online users, specifically the most popular questions on Weibo. It’s absolutely fair—no member will know each other’s questions or answers, so please answer as honestly as possible.”
Everyone still drew lots to determine the order. An Yu was lucky to be in the middle. When she inadvertently glanced at Lin Duxi, she noticed that Lin’s name was signed right after hers.
“What a coincidence… is it really not deliberate?”
“I can smell a good show coming.”
“Will there be any questions for the shipper fans? I’m excited.”
An Yu’s gaze gradually fixed on Lin Duxi’s profile.
Lin Duxi slowly clenched the pen in her hand, her heart pounding so loudly that she almost didn’t notice An Yu’s gaze.
Following the staff’s instructions, An Yu entered a temporarily built small room, which only had a single chair. Across from her sat a few staff members, one flipping through a stack of papers, his expression somewhat comical.
An Yu sat down. The number of online viewers for the live broadcast was rising rapidly.
“Teacher An Yu, these are some of the most asked questions from fans. Could you answer them?”
An Yu nodded.
The staff member flipped to the first question, his pupils widening for a moment: “What are your feelings toward Teacher Lin Duxi at the moment?”
“Hahaha, which crazy shipper asked this? This is hilarious!”
“Why is everyone else’s question about themselves, but An Yu’s question is about Lin Duxi?”
“This proves they’re inseparable. I’m shipping them!”
An Yu replied, “Teacher Lin is one of my most respected seniors in the entertainment industry, also my idol. Of course, I respect her very much.” Her words were flawless, her smile polite and measured.
“So… are you together or not…”
“Ah, I’m dizzy. What’s their relationship?”
“An Yu, your words… ah, you dodged it!”
The staff member nodded. “Because your questions are more numerous, it may take more time. Now, regarding your personal life—what kind of relationship would you ideally like?”
An Yu paused, lowered her eyelashes, and after a short while, looked up and said slowly: “I hope to be with someone for a lifetime, from beginning to end, without any other complications. Sorry, I haven’t been in a relationship for a long time, so I might sound a little vague.” She realized this and slightly bowed to the staff.
“It seems Teacher An Yu is very dedicated in love. May I ask, of the relationships you’ve had, which one left the deepest impression?”
An Yu leaned back in her chair helplessly: “I’ve only had one relationship, so naturally, only one is unforgettable.”
“Oh, could you tell us about it?”
An Yu: “This wasn’t among the fan questions, so I’d rather not answer.”
The staff member was momentarily speechless: “Right, it’s not in the questions. The next set is about you and Teacher Lin.”
“May I ask, are you and Teacher Lin really neighbors, or is it just for the show?”
An Yu recalled the live broadcast when she met Lin Duxi and thought of Lin’s bright eyes, sparkling like stars in her heart. She nodded: “Yes, we are neighbors, not for the show. I think it’s quite a coincidence too.”
“Really neighbors! If this wasn’t planned at all, then destiny must have intervened.”
“So sweet. I’m already imagining stories about playful neighbors.”
“Hmm, no real information yet.”
“An Yu seems to be dodging cleverly.”
The staff member flipped the page, stopping at one question: “Yesterday, did you two have a fight? Have you made up?”
This question caused a brief silence, not just among the staff but also on the screen.
An Yu, who had relaxed, froze slightly: “No.”
The barrage of comments exploded.
“No fight,” she said slowly.
There was no fight because it wasn’t necessary. Lin Duxi had been hurt by her previous response, yet here she was timidly talking to the camera about her relationship with Lin Duxi.
She felt sad—because of her retreat, because she didn’t dare to express her emotions. She felt ashamed of herself. An Yu slightly lowered her head, long eyelashes fluttering, shading her eyes from the sunlight to hide the sorrow in her gaze.
The audience interpreted it differently, however, and the loss quickly turned into excitement, flooding the screen with reactions.
The door opened from inside, and An Yu saw Lin Duxi waiting at the doorway. She instinctively inhaled sharply. Her emotions hadn’t yet dissipated, and her eyes were filled with sadness.
Lin Duxi’s hands clenched but she didn’t let An Yu’s emotions affect her. Yet seeing An Yu look at her so pleadingly, with tears threatening to fall, made her heart fill with joy.
She had already calmed down about last night after returning home. The delay until now was only because she wanted to see An Yu respond. Seeing her gaze, wet like a small puppy’s, she felt an even stronger sense of possession in An Yu’s heart.
“Lin Duxi,” An Yu’s voice carried a hint of hesitation as she gently called her name.
Lin Duxi was drawn in by her slightly hoarse voice: “Yes?”
“Can we have some time alone to talk at noon?”
Lin Duxi slightly frowned: “I have something at noon. Not possible.”
An Yu: “Okay, then when are you free? I’ll come to find you.” She looked at Lin Duxi intently, insisting on getting an answer.
Her persistence deeply satisfied Lin Duxi. She restrained the urge to pull An Yu into her arms but couldn’t help the depth of her feelings, glaring at her with loving eyes: “You know I wouldn’t refuse you, yet you still ask like this.”
An Yu: “I didn’t… I really want to talk, to tell you…”
Lin Duxi put her hand over An Yu’s mouth, then looked at her with a gaze that was reproachful yet tender.
“I have to go to the interview now.” She released An Yu’s hand, but the palm that had touched An Yu’s lips was still warm, sending heat to her heart, eyes like flowing water.
Even though she felt this way about An Yu, she couldn’t do otherwise. Seeing her, her eyes naturally followed An Yu, and her heart beat faster.
Lin Duxi clenched her fists, imprinting the touch onto her heart as if it were a treasure.
“Hello, Teacher Lin. Among the six members, you received the most questions from fans, showing how popular you are.”
“The first question: Are you single at the moment?”
Lin Duxi smiled: “Of course I’m single.”
“Do you currently like someone?”
“Yes.” She said it immediately after the staff finished asking, without hesitation.
The staff froze. The three of them exchanged glances, all showing shock.
Outside, discussions about Lin Duxi’s participation in Hello, Friend had been rampant. Most fans believed she joined the show only to relax, and no one expected her to develop feelings for anyone on the show. Until now, she hadn’t shown any signs of liking anyone.
Now, she admitted on camera that she liked someone. Both staff and fans were stunned.
“Ah, who do you like? Someone on the show or off?”
“Ah, my ship is alive!”
“How was there no warning? As a fan, this is hard to take. But as long as it doesn’t affect her career, it’s fine.”
“It must be Pei Lu. The only person Lin Duxi would like must be Pei Lu.”
“Someone upstairs…”
“Lin Duxi still likes her, and they haven’t dated yet. Why are you all so upset?”
The staff barely reacted. When they realized, it was already a hot topic! If Lin Duxi liked someone during the show, it was bound to trend on Weibo.
“May I ask, when did you start liking this person?”
Lin Duxi lowered her eyelashes, eyes curved in a smile: “I’ve liked her for many years. I don’t remember exactly how many.”
She didn’t know how long she had liked An Yu. All she knew was that her heart had been beating for An Yu for most of her life.
She had loved An Yu all along. She never thought about the length of time.
Loving her had become instinctive, fused with her bones, part of her body, inseparable.
The staff, stunned by her honesty, saw the unhidden love radiating from her slightly bright eyes. After a long moment, they regained their composure. Lin Duxi’s response had already set the stage for trending topics even earlier than expected. The director asked them to steer the topic back to continue questioning.
“What is the one behavior you hate the most?”
Lin Duxi raised an eyebrow: “Lying.”
“Oh, can you explain why?”
“Because…” Lin Duxi slowly raised her eyes, her eyelashes trembling. Her eyes held emotions that were difficult for others to understand—memories or regrets.
“Because… I broke a promise.”
