After Being Reborn, My Ex-Girlfriend Became Obsessed - Chapter 45
Cold sweat seeped down Anyu’s forehead; the pain in her shoulder was too intense. She half-jokingly wondered if Lin Duxi was a vampire, here just to drink her blood.
Her heart was full of a tingling heat. The words Lin Duxi had whispered into her ear still burned in her mind. Anyu could only try to hide the chaotic emotions swirling in her head, letting Lin Duxi bite her shoulder, grit her teeth, and carry her along.
Lin Duxi was using a lot of strength; through the layers of clothing, Anyu could feel the severe pain. Fortunately, it didn’t last long. Lin Duxi eventually ran out of energy and released her. The previously painful spot was immediately enveloped in warmth, making Anyu freeze in surprise.
Lin Duxi, drained of energy, was like a little cat at someone’s mercy. She didn’t struggle, but her whole body trembled. Even though she had stopped running, she was still sweating. Anyu, affected by her, also began to sweat. She held Lin Duxi like this and rushed toward the infirmary, barely noticing a reflection of light bouncing off a student’s glasses in the corner of her vision.
A few bystanders tried to help, but seeing the two of them, they instinctively withdrew their hands. Relying solely on her own strength, Anyu carried Lin Duxi to the infirmary.
Collapsed on the hospital bed and given an injection, Lin Duxi barely regained consciousness. She struggled to open her eyes in the small, empty room.
Anyu stared at the IV drip steadily falling, expressionless, and pulled the needle from her hand. Her hand was stained red with the medical tape, and she sat up from the bed, dizzy.
“Hey, where are you going?” The school doctor suddenly appeared at the curtain, catching a glimpse of a figure and hurriedly reaching out to pull her back.
Lin Duxi, weak, was easily tugged back.
“Why are you leaving? The IV isn’t finished yet. Do you really think you’re indestructible?” The doctor firmly set up a new IV.
“Don’t run; just stay and finish this bottle first.”
Lin Duxi sat upright on the bed, tensing her body. The doctor felt something off, recalling how anxiously Anyu had carried her in and began to suspect something.
“That girl went to the cafeteria to get you some food. You can just stay here.” The doctor scrolled through her phone, glancing sideways at the straight posture slowly bending.
Soon, Anyu returned with porridge carefully chosen from the cafeteria by a staff member. This was the same porridge her family’s housekeeper would make for her during her period. She had pleaded with the cafeteria staff to make it. When she opened the curtain, her eyes met Lin Duxi’s.
“You’re awake,” Anyu said suddenly, more composed than before. She slowly walked over, noticing that Lin Duxi had been staring at her left shoulder all along.
Anyu didn’t turn her head; her left shoulder bore the teeth mark Lin Duxi had nearly bitten to blood. The doctor had said it wouldn’t fade in ten days or so.
Anyu gasped, trying not to dwell on it. The spot throbbed and tingled under her touch. She threw the bag she was carrying onto the cabinet beside Lin Duxi.
“Porridge,” she said in a slightly annoyed tone. Lifting her arm earlier had aggravated the bite mark, catching her attention again.
Lin Duxi grabbed the bag and twisted open the lid with one hand. The needle mark, now coagulated, bled again, smearing the cotton swab. Anyu’s heart raced.
Lin Duxi’s mood was good. Seeing the porridge full in the cup, she smiled and asked, “Is this for me? I don’t think the cafeteria has this porridge.”
She must be exhausted from running three kilometers, yet she could still smile. Anyu looked elsewhere. “You’re lucky. The cafeteria aunt wanted to treat herself.”
Lin Duxi didn’t reply; she took the spoon from the bag and brought a mouthful to her lips.
The porridge was steaming hot. Anyu snatched the spoon from her.
“It’s too hot for you,” she said firmly, throwing the spoon back into the cup. She took Lin Duxi’s hand, using a cotton swab to stop the bleeding, rubbing her hand hard to vent her frustration.
She knew her period would be painful, yet Lin Duxi had insisted on participating in the three-kilometer race. Why not pace herself instead of striving for first place?
“Being first is that important!” Anyu rubbed Lin Duxi’s already pale hand until it was red, then let go.
Lin Duxi remained quiet, letting her do it. When Anyu finally finished venting, Lin Duxi spoke in a hoarse voice from dehydration.
“Mm… very important.”
Because only by being first would they notice me, notice that it was me tightly holding you.
They would know that you are mine.
And that Anyu is Lin Duxi’s.
Anyu almost couldn’t catch her breath. She lowered her head to stir the porridge. Lin Duxi always excelled, always first in exams. Even in the sports meet, she sought first place—how boring!
Boring! Lin Duxi thought angrily, a mix of inexplicable irritation and an underlying trace of jealousy.
She looked at Anyu’s profile, noting the fair skin and the red, swollen teeth mark. It was like marking her as her possession; Anyu was entirely hers.
Despite the swelling, Lin Duxi felt no guilt.
“Teacher Lin,” a cautious voice called, pulling her from her memories. She turned to see Xie An’an, who spoke softly about the upcoming camping activity and the tents for the girls.
Lin Duxi simply nodded politely.
Xie An’an hurriedly left, leaving laughing online viewers behind.
Lin Duxi tucked her hair behind her ear, her graceful fingers brushing the table, radiating charm.
The Anyu she remembered was always cute, easily agitated but would come close once comforted. Now, the little dog (Anyu) was angry, unwilling to approach. She had to hold her little paw, showing her teeth but retracting at actual touch, letting her feel the soft pad.
Lin Duxi liked this, yet didn’t.
She wanted this unique treatment to continue, yet she wasn’t content with the relationship stopping here. She sighed faintly.
It was her own fault; Anyu simply didn’t want to get close.
Suddenly, warmth approached. Anyu was beside her, holding painkillers and a heat pack.
Lin Duxi lowered her head, a part of her heart sinking. Anyu hadn’t changed at all.
Anyu thought about it—the system’s assigned task was complete, and what came next was free activity. She was still concerned about Lin Duxi’s physical state, especially after high school and yesterday’s events. Even if she didn’t want to, memories forced themselves into her mind.
“Take these,” Anyu said nonchalantly, placing the medicine and heat pack on the table.
“Did you buy these especially for me?” Lin Duxi asked, not taking them yet, sitting a little apart and staring seriously.
Anyu: “No, Summer Song gave them to me.” She fumbled a random name.
Lin Duxi lowered her head and smiled softly. This trip was meant to create a realistic, immersive CP experience for viewers, so the assistant wasn’t present.
“Then please thank Miss Summer for me,” she said, taking the items.
“Will do,” Anyu gritted out.
Lin Duxi gently tore open the heat pack, waiting for it to warm in her hand, her long lashes fluttering, hiding her eyes.
“Does it still hurt?” Anyu finally asked.
“No, the first day is always the worst. Today it’s fine,” she replied slowly.
Anyu wanted to ask about her high school sports meet, but seeing Lin Duxi obediently handling the items, the question changed to:
“Were you okay on the glass plank just now?” she asked casually, but cautiously.
“Forget it, don’t worry about it,” Lin Duxi responded, her gaze clear as she looked at her.
Anyu turned her head: “Then let’s go.”
Though they exchanged only brief words, Anyu’s hands clenched the fabric at her sides—her first time discussing past events with Lin Duxi, even vaguely.
At the tent selection, the others had already picked their tents. The tents were the same model but different colors.
“The production is short on funds. So, pairs from each group will share the same tent. The tents are large enough for two people.”
“What!” Xie An’an shouted. She wanted to share a tent with Anyu—impossible!
“Teacher Lin, can we swap? I like the color of your tent.” She lied.
“Rules are rules. No swapping between groups,” the director said fairly.
