After Being Reborn, My Ex-Girlfriend Became Obsessed - Chapter 25
“The wound has already been bandaged,” An Yu said as she stood up and looked at Lin Duxi. Thinking of the bloodied injury from earlier, her voice softened. “The wound has already split once. It’s best not to move it too much. It’ll hurt, and it’s easy to leave a scar.”
Lin Duxi looked up at her, her eyes filled with sparkling starlight. “A-Yu.” She leaned over and gently hugged An Yu’s waist, savoring the scent of her body with a sense of fascination.
Caught off guard by the hug, An Yu’s movements stiffened. She instinctively wanted to push her away, but then she remembered that Lin Duxi had caught a cold and gotten hurt because of her earlier. She put down her hand and decided to let her hug her—after everything that had happened in just one day, anyone would be exhausted.
The street, once crowded with tourists drawn to the bonfire, was now mostly empty. They had just squeezed out of the crowd like fish in water, and the cameraman following them had lost track. Now, it was just the two of them.
From afar, the cheers of the crowd were faint, like they were in another world. Combined with the chirping of cicadas in the night and the faint glow of the fire, it created a tranquil background for the moment. An Yu glanced at the cheering crowd in the distance, then looked down at the time on her watch and sighed.
“It’s a bit of a shame we couldn’t continue strolling with Teacher Lin. This gathering is really interesting… very novel,” she said.
Hearing this, Lin Duxi looked up at her, her clear eyes reflecting the starlight above. She released her hold on An Yu and stood shoulder to shoulder with her, speaking softly with a smile: “I’ve already visited so many places with you, A-Yu. I’m very satisfied.”
It was as if every little kindness from An Yu was treasured by her. Even if An Yu didn’t give her anything, she wouldn’t complain.
An Yu tilted her head, emotions flashing in her eyes. Lin Duxi had said similar words to her before.
Different season, different scenery—but the gentle gaze and affectionate words beside her were the same.
In her memory, Lin Duxi had never once lost her temper with her.
An Yu couldn’t help but wonder if they had been deeply in love before—but why did they break up?
She couldn’t even remember clearly. Both of them were no longer who they used to be.
They didn’t linger in the gathering long. Afraid the production team would go crazy looking for them, An Yu finished bandaging Lin Duxi and headed to the car, and the crew caught up without causing any live-streaming accidents.
They left first. Passing by a supermarket, An Yu remembered that tonight they were supposed to cook dinner together. She got out to pick up ingredients. Lin Duxi, due to her injured hand, was asked to stay in the car. An Yu thought the villa might have some ingredients, but “probably not the ones I want.”
She turned and asked Lin Duxi if there was anything she wanted to eat.
“No,” Lin Duxi shook her head after thinking for a moment. “But I haven’t eaten anything you cook before, A-Yu. I should like whatever you make.”
Her gaze and indulgent tenderness were so real that An Yu was momentarily stunned.
“Alright.”
As An Yu put on her mask and entered the supermarket, Lin Duxi’s gaze gradually withdrew, focusing instead on the buildings in the distance, her expression devoid of emotion. It seemed only An Yu could stir the deep desires in her heart.
Lin Duxi had always been a person of low material desire—she only needed food to fill her stomach. An Yu was the first to ask her if she had any dietary preferences.
Lin Duxi couldn’t help but smile, her eyes hiding strands of affection.
[Baby, finally I see you again. Do you know how worried I was when you suddenly disappeared, Mom?]
[Can the production team look after people properly? How could they let them get lost in such a crowd? What a ridiculous scene.]
[Someone tell me, what did they do when they disappeared from the camera and then reappeared together? I can’t take it without an explanation.]
[Xiao Lin and Xiao An disappear together, then reappear together… if no one explains, I’ll just make up stories.]
[Huh? Lin Duxi turned her head. Why is she getting closer to the camera? Ah, so beautiful, stunning!]
Lin Duxi slowly approached the camera. Ignoring the flood of “ahhh” comments, she carefully read some of the other types of comments, and the coldness on her face softened.
“Thank you,” she said sincerely. She hoped these comments would come true soon.
[Ahhh, what a heavenly voice! My ears are pregnant. You’ll have to take responsibility!]
Lin Duxi found their comments funny and adorable, just like An Yu. She thought, if only An Yu were saying this in front of her…
Her damp hair stuck to her face, highlighting the redness at the corners of her eyes. An Yu looked at her, misty-eyed, her lips slightly parted, letting out a coquettish voice:
“You’ll be responsible.”
Lin Duxi blushed.
When An Yu returned with several bags, she saw Lin Duxi seated by the window, tilting her head to look outside, her rare blush softening her usually impassive expression.
An Yu, concerned about the fever from the morning, quickly placed the bags down, bent over, and checked her temperature. The moment she touched Lin Duxi, she felt her body shiver slightly; when Lin Duxi turned, her blush had disappeared.
“What’s wrong, A-Yu?” she asked with a smile, noticing An Yu’s hands on her face.
An Yu paused. “Is your head still hurting?”
Lin Duxi shook her head. “No, isn’t the fever already gone?”
Half-doubting, An Yu lightly touched her forehead—it was indeed not hot. She assumed she had imagined it, then handed her a pack of candy.
Lin Duxi froze upon seeing it—it was the same candy from the day she got drunk.
“You didn’t eat much at lunch. It’s been a while. Eat some candy to replenish your sugar,” An Yu said.
[A token of affection.]
[She remembers she didn’t eat at lunch, she’s so thoughtful, she loves her!]
[An Yu said she couldn’t find the one she wanted—is it that she bought the candy for Lin Duxi?]
[Most likely! You love her so much!]
Seeing that An Yu had remembered and bought the same candy, Lin Duxi felt her heart burning with love, emotions both expected and unexpected rising within her. She looked at An Yu, her eyes shimmering like water.
An Yu felt her ears turn red again. “Let’s go back first,” she said, sitting beside Lin Duxi and averting her gaze.
Lin Duxi looked at the candy, unwrapped one piece, and tasted it. The sweetness spread through her body, and she sighed softly.
Thankfully, An Yu didn’t see her blush. Her body had sweated from the earlier exertion; once back, she’d need a shower and a change of clothes. She wondered if An Yu would personally help her change in this injured state.
Because of Lin Duxi’s hand injury, An Yu strongly forbade her from cooking. Lin Duxi initially resisted, but after pleading softly for a while, An Yu let her sit outside the kitchen and watch.
An Yu expertly chopped vegetables, cooked them, and then went to get a tissue to wipe her sweat.
Just as she thought of it, a slender hand appeared in her view. In the next moment, she felt someone gently wiping her forehead.
Startled, she turned and saw Lin Duxi, who should have been sitting outside, now at her side, carefully wiping the sweat from her forehead.
Lin Duxi’s fragrance invaded An Yu’s senses, her flawless face so close that An Yu could see fine hairs on her skin. Her slightly parted lips exhaled warm breath over An Yu’s ear.
Lin Duxi, however, acted as if nothing happened, focusing solely on wiping An Yu’s forehead. She smiled, then stepped back.
“All done, A-Yu, continue,” she said gently, leaving the kitchen efficiently.
With Lin Duxi gone, An Yu glanced out—she was seated at the dining table, chatting lightly with others.
When Pei Lu and the others returned, An Yu was just putting the last dish on the stove. Pei Lu, already frustrated that Lin Duxi had slipped away, now saw her seated across from An Yu in the kitchen. His face flushed red with anger, but he had to restrain himself because of the live broadcast. He muttered, “I’m not hungry, I won’t eat,” and went upstairs.
The other members, relieved, took the chance to breathe.
Time was perfect. They served the freshly cooked dishes.
Lin Duxi intended to help but was gently pulled back by An Yu. She watched An Yu interact with others, her gaze filled with deep love.
Even rejecting others, A-Yu was this gentle—yet Lin Duxi didn’t want to share this gentleness with anyone.
An Yu set a dish in front of her. “Try it, see if it suits your taste.”
Lin Duxi got up and sat across from her, smiling and picking up a piece of meat. The moment it entered her mouth, she froze, her smile halting.
Though An Yu appeared casual, inside she was anxious. She couldn’t understand why she wanted Lin Duxi’s praise just for cooking.
She watched Lin Duxi eat. When Lin Duxi paused, An Yu panicked. Had she added too much salt?
“Is it too salty? Or doesn’t it suit your taste?” she asked, worried, and tried a piece herself—it wasn’t salty.
Lin Duxi shook her head, maintaining her smile. “No, it’s because it’s the first time eating your cooking. I’m pleasantly surprised. I really like it.”
An Yu’s heart finally relaxed.
Lin Duxi smiled softly, focusing on her meal.
Because An Yu cooked, Lin Duxi ate more than usual, trying every dish. An Yu felt a warm, intoxicating joy watching her.
After dinner, the others volunteered to wash dishes. Lin Duxi and An Yu went outside to enjoy the breeze.
An Yu loved the cool, empty night.
Lin Duxi watched her relaxed expression and gently approached, savoring the peaceful happiness.
“A-Yu, cooking so much tonight must have been tiring. I wish I could help,” she said.
An Yu shook her head. “It’s fine. Your hand is injured, partly because of me. Besides, I enjoy cooking. When bored, I’d follow cookbooks bit by bit—it’s fun.”
She didn’t realize she had revealed a little too much. Seeing a nearby bench, she guided Lin Duxi to sit.
Lin Duxi frowned slightly.
A-Yu lied—her cooking skills weren’t self-taught.
Back when An Yu’s parents traveled, she had subtly hinted she was alone. Lin Duxi would accompany her, cook for her, and when An Yu liked it, she begged Lin Duxi to teach her.
Lin Duxi thought sadly, then looked up and met An Yu’s clear, pure eyes. An Yu beckoned her over, and she concealed her emotions to walk over.
She would understand everything eventually.
The next day, filming finally ended. The director announced the wrap, and everyone waved goodbye to the audience who had been watching all day, then returned to their rooms to rest.
Lin Duxi grabbed clothes for a shower. An Yu sat outside, restless. She felt she had forgotten something but couldn’t recall what, her heartbeat racing.
She opened her phone to browse Weibo to distract herself, only to find her small account had gained many followers—mostly fans of their “CP” pairing. Among the many photos of the two together, only one used her solo profile picture from a few years ago, standing out.
An Yu studied the account carefully, impressed that the CP fans had even seen her earlier works. Just as she was about to visit the account’s profile, the sound of running water in the bathroom suddenly stopped. She heard the rustling of clothes and instinctively put her phone down.
“A-Yu, my hand is injured, I can’t fasten my bra. Can you help me?” Lin Duxi’s voice came through the thick glass door, soft and pitiful.
An Yu looked up sharply—she finally remembered what she had forgotten. Her ears turned red, her face burning. She stammered before saying:
“Can’t you sleep without it?” Luckily, the glass concealed her flushed face.
“Not impossible. Then I won’t wear it,” Lin Duxi said casually, her redness accentuated by the cold touch of the wall, but her smile remained.
Curious about An Yu’s reaction tomorrow, she thought.
An Yu immediately realized she would still need to help her the next day. She said, “Put on the other clothes, I’ll help you fasten it.”
Lin Duxi softly “hmm”-ed, the sound alluring.
An Yu walked to the glass. “Open the door when you’re ready.” Almost immediately, the door slid open.
An Yu froze. Lin Duxi was in a wet nightgown, her long hair dripping, falling like a water lily. Barefaced, she appeared softer and more delicate than usual.
An Yu’s gaze shifted slightly to the floor, then back to Lin Duxi, finally noticing her bandaged hands.
“Your hands didn’t get wet, right?”
Lin Duxi thought, You worry about my hands but won’t wash them yourself, silly.
“They didn’t. I was careful, A-Yu, don’t worry,” she said, turning slightly and slipping the straps off her shoulders, exposing her fair back and butterfly bones. “Please, A-Yu.”
An Yu’s hands reached out, gently fastening the bra hooks. Her focus was on the fabric, yet her mind was in chaos, the white reflecting light in her eyes, making her dizzy.
She bit her lip hard to regain composure, quickly fastening the hooks.
Lin Duxi’s bare skin shivered under the cool air from the AC, droplets still clinging. An Yu’s fingertips brushed against her, sending shivers through her.
An Yu’s breath was close enough that a turn of her head would meet her lips, sending her heart racing, making her want to kiss.
The room grew warmer, the air thick with sweet tension. Their faces were close enough that An Yu could reach her ear, making it blush at the slightest touch.
How delightful.
An Yu’s consciousness pushed her forward, her warm breath on Lin Duxi’s skin, drawing closer and closer. Lin Duxi’s heart raced, her body stiff with anticipation.
“Done,” An Yu suddenly said, snapping out of her daze. She quickly released her hands and turned away. “Put on your clothes. I’ll get the toiletries,” she said, hurrying off, breaking the tension.
Lin Duxi lowered her eyes reluctantly, amazed at how patient she was.
At night, the world was silent. The moon hung quietly in the sky, casting soft light through the windows like a silent play.
Moonlight streamed through the curtains, falling across the floor and bed. The person beside her was already asleep, their calm breathing gently tapping on Lin Duxi’s heart, speaking the most enticing words.
After the previous night’s intimate sleep, Lin Duxi had the most peaceful rest in days. The saying “once bitten, twice shy” perfectly described her craving now.
She closed her eyes, pretending to sleep, waiting for An Yu’s familiar breathing. When satisfied, she took a deep breath, slowly got up, and carefully slipped into An Yu’s bed.
Without waking An Yu, she gently hugged her waist, placing An Yu’s hand on herself, burying herself in her embrace.
Resting her head on An Yu’s pillow, surrounded by her scent, Lin Duxi nuzzled her neck. Just as she was about to relax, she sensed it—through the darkness, a pair of clear eyes quietly watching her.
