An Yanqing falls from the clouds overnight.
Her family goes bankrupt and is liquidated; her parents vanish without a trace.

When she is at her most desperate, her sworn enemy appears unhurriedly, tosses a contract in her face, and smiles viciously.
“Be my dog,” the woman says lightly. “I’ll give you a place to stay.”

A coin clatters across the floor. An Yanqing replies gently,
“Darling, this should be enough to buy you out of my sight.”

They loathe each other.
but Old Master Zhong, remembering past ties and wishing to look after an old friend’s daughter, forcibly binds the two into a resentful marriage.

On their very first night after the wedding, An Yanqing’s bedroom door is smashed open.

The uninvited guest leans against the doorway, her bathrobe hanging loose, pale skin dazzling to the eye.
An Yanqing’s anger falters for a split second.
just in time to see the woman lift her chin slightly and issue an unhurried command:

“What are you standing there for? Get over here and fulfill your marital duties.”

Married life is absolute chaos.

Zhong Chu always believed An Yanqing hated her to the bone.
Until one day, the usually calm and self-restrained nemesis drinks too much, mistakes a small vase in the room for Zhong Chu herself, and refuses to let go.

Face stiff, ears burning red, An Yanqing cradles the vase seriously and, under Zhong Chu’s stunned gaze, stumbles through an entire night of heartfelt confessions.

Zhong Chu: I am broken.
