- Chapter 8 - She Is Good-Looking
“Have you seen enough?” Lu Wanxing lowered her head slightly to look at Sheng Xia. Her tone was gentle, making her appear like a kind older sister, but the gaze she directed at the blanket still carried a hint of murderous intent.
Sheng Xia stared blankly at Lu Wanxing, cautiously clutching her milk bottle. After a long while, she whispered softly, “I’ve seen enough.”
My goodness, why did no one tell her that the female supporting character was such a great beauty?!
And that voice… her voice sounded so good.
Inwardly, Sheng Xia wanted to offer a bright smile and an apology, but under the influence of the plot’s constraints, she was unable to make any expression. To an outsider, it looked as though Sheng Xia was wearing a sour face after being splashed with milk.
“Do you know me?” Although Lu Wanxing’s tone held a hint of doubt, she felt fairly certain in her heart that Sheng Xia recognized her; otherwise, she wouldn’t have that kind of expression and look in her eyes.
Sheng Xia wanted to speak, but remembering her “poker face,” she knew that anything she said to explain would only sound like a weak excuse.
She remained silent, and Lu Wanxing didn’t interrupt. Lu Wanxing watched as Sheng Xia’s thick eyelashes trembled before she slowly lifted her gaze. A pair of beautiful, watery almond eyes looked at her as if they could speak.
Even though Sheng Xia had no expression, Lu Wanxing could tell the girl was trying to “act cute” to get through this.
“Your eyes aren’t a pie chart; I can’t analyze what you’re trying to say.” Lu Wanxing rolled up the blanket and took a step back.
Dammit! Sheng Xia thought. In the novels, Murong Hanwen’s eyes can show ‘three parts indifference, three parts mockery, three parts disdain, and one part pity.’ Why can’t my ‘six parts amazement, three parts shyness, and one part apology’ as the female lead be captured?!
“I don’t know you,” Sheng Xia rubbed her face. “But I’ve had a problem since I was a child: whenever I see a great beauty, I can’t move, and then I can’t make any facial expressions.”
This explanation might actually work, considering the scumbags in the plot were indeed handsome, even if they were trash.
Seeing that Sheng Xia was still kneeling, Lu Wanxing didn’t tell her to get up. “Oh? You think I’m good-looking?”
Sheng Xia didn’t hesitate for a second and nodded heavily: “Of course!”
Black-haired, straight-haired mature sisters are the GOAT (Greatest of All Time).
Just that gentle yet distant aura alone was enough to make her knees weak.
This sincere and loud answer immediately drew the attention of passersby in the square. Sheng Xia’s expression was so serious that people thought she was proposing.
The stares from the surrounding people made Sheng Xia feel a bit embarrassed. She quietly shifted her knees, and when she looked up, she met Lu Wanxing’s scrutinizing gaze.
Lu Wanxing hadn’t expected such a youthful face beneath that green fish-head mask. Looking at the wet-eyed Sheng Xia in front of her, the suspicions in her heart grew.
Meeting Sheng Xia twice in a row made it hard not to be suspicious. She was the type who would rather “kill the wrong person than let a threat go.” She raised her hand, about to call for A-Biao, when she heard Sheng Xia shout even louder: “You are super beautiful!”
Even though Lu Wanxing’s expression didn’t change, Sheng Xia immediately felt a chill down her spine. A sense of crisis made her suddenly bold; she straightened up and rolled up her sleeves, intending to help wipe the AD Calcium Milk off the blanket.
As she pulled at the hem of her clothes, her beautiful collarbones were exposed. Her skin was delicate and smooth, looking so soft one might want to touch it.
A-Biao glanced at Sheng Xia, remembering that the last person who dared to lift their clothes in front of the Young Miss probably had grass growing on their grave by now.
However, to his surprise, Lu Wanxing didn’t have A-Biao take action. Instead, she gestured for him to look elsewhere.
Lu Wanxing backed away slightly. Sheng Xia immediately withdrew her hand and didn’t touch her. Seeing her being tactful, Lu Wanxing reached out and pinched Sheng Xia’s face. She used quite a bit of force, but Sheng Xia’s expression didn’t change at all.
Lu Wanxing raised an eyebrow. She can endure this much?
Sheng Xia’s skin was excellent; even from this close, no pores could be seen. A red mark appeared on her cheek where it was pinched. Lu Wanxing rubbed it with her index finger, her tone carrying a hint of a smile: “It’s because you’re too cute.”
Because of that smile, her originally indifferent and somewhat world-weary aura was instantly infused with a bit of human warmth.
The people in the livestream had originally felt that Sheng Xia was going a bit overboard—how could she be so paralyzed by beauty? But now that Lu Wanxing smiled, they also felt dazzled.
Especially when she spoke in that soft voice; it made one’s heart melt, like lying in the clouds.
Indeed, the beauty of a supporting female lead in an old-school melodramatic novel is no joke.
“It’s already dry. Are you sure you want to keep kneeling?” Hearing that Lu Wanxing wanted to end the conversation, Sheng Xia didn’t push further. She shifted her body to sit on her skateboard and waved goodbye.
Lu Wanxing controlled her wheelchair to move outward, but she didn’t notice a car passing by in the distance, kicking up a few pebbles. One seemed to get stuck in the wheelchair, causing it to lose balance and start to slide sideways.
Lu Wanxing controlled the wheelchair somewhat helplessly. There was a stone pillar ahead; if she hit it, she would likely fall and end up with a bloody head. Just as she felt panicked and instinctively closed her eyes, the wheelchair was pulled into a turn by a burst of strength.
Due to inertia, Lu Wanxing leaned forward and bumped into Sheng Xia’s waist. The surprise and calculation in her eyes were covered by fear. She gasped for breath, somewhat shaken, leaned back, and looked at Sheng Xia, saying, “Thank you.”
Her black hair clung to her red lips, and her moist eyes gave off a pure yet sensual vibe. Her long, dark eyelashes trembled, and the flush on her cold, white skin easily provoked a desire to ruin her.
This scene under the sunlight was undoubtedly beautiful, as if every strand of her hair was glowing, making it impossible to look away.
However, Sheng Xia was alerted by that sudden pull and confirmed one thing.
She was testing me.
Why? Sheng Xia was certain that they had had no interaction since she arrived in this world.
Despite the myriad of guesses in her heart, Sheng Xia simply scratched her face awkwardly on the surface. “You’re welcome.”
Thinking of the Great Villain’s usual ruthless and decisive manner, Sheng Xia found it hard to look directly at Lu Wanxing’s current “pitiful” appearance.
Though… it was indeed very attractive.
Sheng Xia’s mind was in a mess; she couldn’t understand the purpose of Lu Wanxing’s strange behavior. Her eyesight was very good; no stone had actually gotten stuck—that wheelchair tip-over just now was intentional on Lu Wanxing’s part. Moreover, given the other woman’s character, she would never purposely get close to someone just because of a single meeting.
She picked up her skateboard, wanting to leave and go back to sort out her thoughts. Fortunately, Lu Wanxing didn’t seem to want to talk further, as if that brief touch just now was nothing but an illusion.
Just as Sheng Xia breathed a sigh of relief, Su Tong ran over and started shouting at Lu Wanxing: “What is wrong with you?? You hit someone and you’re just going to leave?!”
Sheng Xia: ???
She was just about to leave, what the hell are you talking about?!
She wanted to curse.
Sheng Xia rolled her eyes. After Lu Wanxing looked over, she immediately raised her hand and waved it, looking a bit like a “lucky cat” being forced to work.
Lu Wanxing stopped and turned around. Su Tong also saw the other person’s appearance clearly, and his expression changed again. His tone softened slightly: “Even though you are in a wheelchair, that’s no excuse to hit someone and not apologize.”
It was pure nonsense just for the sake of talking. The familiar “although… but…” sentence structure was somewhat disgusting.
Sheng Xia immediately took a step back to distance herself from Su Tong, not wanting to be seen as an accomplice. “If you don’t need your eyes, you can donate them to someone in need.”
“Didn’t you see just now that I accidentally fell in front of her?” Sheng Xia was already confused by Lu Wanxing’s behavior, and now looking at Su Tong just made her annoyed.
Su Tong looked at A-Biao behind Lu Wanxing and felt a bit intimidated, but thinking that there were so many people in the square, he figured A-Biao wouldn’t dare move, so he wasn’t afraid.
Furthermore, his appearance gave him quite a bit of confidence. Su Tong straightened his back: “Xiao Xia, don’t just swallow your grievances because the other person has difficulty moving.”
“…” Truly, no matter the time, when the female lead and the female supporting character appear together, some male nearby will always try to stand up for the female lead regardless of what happened.
Sheng Xia didn’t understand what gave Su Tong the confidence to ignore Lu Wanxing’s cold face and A-Biao behind her.
In Su Tong’s mind, although the person in front of him was beautiful and looked very rich, being disabled meant she was “damaged goods.” She surely had no one who wanted her, and she needed someone to think from her perspective.
If he performed well now, he could surely make her look at him in a new light and think he was a very emotional and caring person.
Even sitting in a wheelchair, Lu Wanxing’s elegance and nobility made the surrounding people turn their heads, but because of the coldness in her eyes, they didn’t dare step forward, only watching from afar.
No matter what Su Tong said, Lu Wanxing’s expression didn’t waver in the slightest. She could hear the thoughts in Su Tong’s heart clearly. She knew that beneath his seemingly harmless skin were foul thoughts, and he thought his acting was good, though his eyes and brows were filled with ill-concealed contempt.
She sighed lightly. It had been a long time since she had seen someone with such poor acting skills.
Locking her wheelchair in place, Lu Wanxing beckoned Su Tong. “Please lower your head.”
Seeing her gentle tone and demeanor, Su Tong was certain she was moved by him. After all, he had tried this trick before; those rich young misses always liked this type of man.
He thought, As expected. He bowed as requested, unable to stop himself from saying: “I know it’s inconvenient for you to move, but—”
Before he could finish, Lu Wanxing slapped him hard. The force was so great it sent Su Tong’s head spinning, yet she remained as steady as a rock, her expression unchanged.
A-Biao, behind her, took a pack of disinfectant wipes from his pocket, tore it open, and handed it over, seemingly used to this.
Su Tong’s face turned red at an incredible speed. He was in disbelief. “You dare hit me? On what grounds?!”
Lu Wanxing wiped her fingers one by one, lifted her eyelids, and spoke with full mockery: “Then on what grounds did you just try to tell me what to do?”
“Who do you think you are?”
