- After Being Forced Into a Facial Paralysis, the Villain Said I’m Such a Drama Queen
- Chapter 5 - She Said I Was Silly
The bodyguards of Murong Hanwen had been searching for days. They passed by Sheng Xia several times without ever realizing she was the woman who supposedly “looked like a beer bottle.” Instead, they actually became quite familiar with her.
“Give me ten bottles of water.” One bodyguard, A-Fei, looked at the scorching sun outside and was ready to start cursing.
With the outdoor temperature hitting $39^{circ}text{C}$, it was anyone’s guess how hot it really was on the pavement. It was bad enough being forced to search for someone in this weather, but was the person in the photo even human?!
“Brother Fei, aren’t you going to change your clothes in this heat?” Sheng Xia watched him, feeling stifled just looking at his white shirt and black suit.
This comment reignited A-Fei’s desire to vent. He was seriously contemplating whether he should just quit. He understood that bodyguards had to look the part, but insisting on this attire while searching for someone outdoors was just idiotic.
However, his professional discipline forced him to endure it. “Don’t get me started. Money isn’t easy to earn these days.”
Hearing this, Sheng Xia smiled and said, “You’ve brought me a lot of business these past few days, Brother Fei.” He had bought several crates of water alone.
“I’ll be heading out today. Searching like this isn’t a long-term solution anyway,” A-Fei said. He had a good impression of Sheng Xia, thinking she was a very hardworking girl. Comparing her to his own underachieving sister at home gave him a headache.
They had previously screened everyone who frequented that alley, and Sheng Xia’s name was on the list. However, he didn’t believe her small frame could possibly hoist Murong Hanwen and dump him in there, so he hadn’t paid her much mind.
Having felt out their progress, Sheng Xia exchanged a few more pleasantries before ending the conversation.
[Host, your ‘universal charmer’ persona is actually working.] The ghosts in the chat noted. Bodyguards were usually highly alert, yet they instinctively let their guard down around Sheng Xia.
Sheng Xia smiled, not paying it much mind. While she didn’t entirely trust the plot details, she knew that according to the basic setting, the female lead’s identity wasn’t meant to be found easily.
After all, if it were that simple, her family would have brought her back eight hundred years ago; she wouldn’t have been wandering the streets for so long. Over the last few days, she realized the “power of the plot” was still at work. Even if the timeline was a bit messy, the events still occurred in the correct sequence and produced the intended effects.
After the male lead’s bodyguards left, life returned to its usual rhythm. Sheng Xia’s life resumed its previous dullness. However, perhaps because she had encountered major plot characters, her normally placid life began to face some “accidents.”
In the usually peaceful small alley, a few thugs appeared and started a robbery. They weren’t robbing her, but rather stealing a little girl’s schoolbag.
Sheng Xia first noticed a crescent moon tattoo on one of the thugs’ hands. Recognizing it as belonging to the second male lead’s gang, she felt a wave of reluctance to get involved.
The power structure of this world was complex. The closer one got to the main characters, the higher the stakes. If possible, Sheng Xia wanted no part of it.
However, just as she was about to walk past the alley, her eyes met the child’s. The girl’s eyes held a flicker of hope before she immediately lowered her head.
The child could see that Sheng Xia was just a student herself; coming over would just be delivering another victim. Because Sheng Xia was somewhat malnourished and appeared thin and small, many people mistook her for a middle schooler at first glance.
Seeing the girl look away, Sheng Xia’s eyelashes fluttered. After a few seconds of hesitation, she suddenly bolted toward her home.
[Host, why are you leaving!!] The viewers in the live stream grew anxious.
“This outfit is too conspicuous. I’m going back to change.” Her school uniform was from School X, which was miles away from this urban village. Anyone asking around could identify her instantly; she had to be careful.
In the original plot, the thugs in this old district were led by one of the second male lead’s henchmen. They shared information. If Sheng Xia dealt with these two today, it would lead to a never-ending stream of trouble.
The man had two moons tattooed on his hand, meaning he wasn’t just a simple street thug; there might be something deeper going on.
[Host, you’ve been wearing that uniform the whole time. What other clothes do you even have?] Because Sheng Xia was running so fast, she didn’t have time to check the comments and didn’t answer. Some of the more impatient “ghosts” immediately decided she was choosing to ignore the situation.
The live stream was in an uproar. Some felt Sheng Xia was heartless given her decent combat ability, pretending not to see a child being bullied was cowardly. Others felt she was right, as it wasn’t as simple as saving one little girl.
The plot was already messy; if she got dragged into side-stories, wouldn’t the script she held become useless?
The viewers debated fiercely. Due to her actions, many were dissatisfied. However, most of the “ghosts” had some moral standards; while they were frustrated, they didn’t leave negative ratings. They simply left the stream.
Strictly speaking, the viewers were supervisors. Once the book’s plot was finished, they could all give a score. There was no hard limit on the number of supervisors, but it functioned as a bonus. The more supervisors scoring the ending, the richer the rewards Sheng Xia could exchange for.
In an instant, the viewer count dropped significantly. But a portion remained, willing to trust her words and wait.
Then, when they saw the “clothes” Sheng Xia pulled out, they were utterly stunned…
Family, what kind of bizarre outfit is this??
In the alley, Wang Long was laughing crudely while rummaging through the schoolbag. The little girl stood opposite him, trembling in silence.
“Hey, didn’t I tell you to bring money today? Why is there only this much?” Wang Long dumped the bag’s contents onto the ground. Seeing pencils worn down to the size of a pinky finger, he looked disgusted. “Poor brat. Couldn’t you have stolen some from home?”
The girl’s hair was frizzy and unkempt a clear sign of poor nutrition. Seeing her remain silent, Wang Long grew bored and intentionally shoved her to the ground.
One thug saw this and took a step forward to stop him, but was pulled back by the person next to him, who shook his head to signal him not to be impulsive.
“I heard that ‘neither-man-nor-woman’ sister of yours has been making some money lately?” Wang Long squatted down, mockingly pulling out a piece of candy. “Do you know where that woman hides her stuff?”
The girl didn’t take the candy. She pushed against him, struggling to stand, only to be yanked back. Tears finally began to fall. Even under such treatment, she remained silent. Had he not known she could talk, he would have thought she was a mute.
Being ignored repeatedly finally annoyed Wang Long. He pulled off her hair tie, stretched it tight, and snapped it against the girl’s cheek. “I’m telling you, I’ll give you one more chance. If you come to school tomorrow without the stuff, I’ll strip you naked and throw you into the street.”
Wang Long didn’t even know what “the stuff” was, but he had an uncanny feeling he should stay here and wait for something that might change his fate.
The man’s voice was greasy, and the malice in it was sickening. A pair of twins stood nearby; seeing Wang Long actually threaten to strip the child, their expressions soured, and they couldn’t help but step out.
“Brother Long, isn’t this going a bit too far?” Though they were thugs, they couldn’t stomach bullying a little girl. And threatening an elementary student? That was just pathetic.
“If you want to join, shut up. If not, get lost.” The man’s voice was filled with impatience.
A man wearing glasses said with a placating smile, “Brother Long, we really want to join, but we just can’t do this. Give us anything else to do.”
“Yeah, me and Er-Wen are strong. You can have us carry things or just stand there to intimidate people. We’re fine with that.”
The man called Brother Long spat on the ground. “Are you psychos? You came to me looking for a moving job? Get the hell out of here.”
“If you don’t do this today, don’t dream of joining. I can’t be bothered to lead you anyway.” He thought he had scouted two enforcers, but it turned out they were both mental.
Wang Long felt he had bad luck today and decided to take his anger out on the girl. He grabbed her sleeve. As he did, a protective amulet fell from her neck. In that moment, Wang Long’s heart skipped a beat, and he reached for it.
Terrified, the girl scrambled back. Her bangs obscured her eyes, and as Wang Long reached out, she bit down on him with all her might.
“F— your mother!” The girl must have used every ounce of strength; she drew blood immediately.
Wang Long grabbed her hair and slammed her toward the wall. Just as he was about to strike, the world went dark. It felt like he had been hit by something.
Then, he saw a beer bottle fall to the ground, rolling several times.
Clutching his head, Wang Long turned around. In his dizzy state, he thought he saw a walking green onion.
The viewers in the live stream, however, were dying of laughter at Sheng Xia’s getup.
She wore a Green Headed Fish mask, a red raincoat, and size 40 shoes fitted with 20 cm height-increasing insoles. Clutching a brick in her hand, she looked like she had just escaped from a psychiatric ward. At the very least, the little girl, Xiao Hua, did not recognize this bizarrely dressed person as the “middle schooler” she had just locked eyes with.
Because the shoes were too big and tall, Sheng Xia walked with a wobbling, zig-zag gait, looking exactly like a drunk.
The other two thugs were also confused. Seeing Sheng Xia holding a brick and looking like she was looking for a fight, they hesitated whether to step forward.
Recovering, Wang Long pulled out a knife. “Get the hell away from here.” He had a premonition that staying here would be bad.
But having been hit for no reason, he couldn’t swallow his pride. “Before you go, beat yourself up. Otherwise, it won’t be as simple as just seeing some blood later.”
Unlike the other two idiots, he had actually committed crimes and had just been released from prison a few days ago.
The viewers knew Sheng Xia was strong, but seeing the opponent get serious, they couldn’t help but worry.
Sheng Xia said nothing. In the gloomy alley, the atmosphere was somewhat intense the green fish mask was undeniably creepy.
She suddenly stood her ground, built up momentum, and threw a side kick. Then, her shoe flew straight off her foot toward Wang Long.
The shoes had been bought by the original owner to create the illusion of a man living in the apartment. To fit the $20text{ cm}$ insoles and because she was in a rush, Sheng Xia had grabbed them without thinking. She hadn’t expected them to be so ill-fitting.
Wang Long, already dazed from the beer bottle, only had time to lower his head as the shoe flew toward him. His hair, styled high with heavy pomade, caught the shoe perfectly, leaving it standing upright on his head.
Sheng Xia: “…”
She had planned a series of cool moves to quickly dismantle the three of them. She hadn’t expected to fail so miserably before even starting. However, seeing Wang Long’s expression which looked like he had just swallowed something foul Sheng Xia regained her composure. Psychological warfare was still warfare.
The other two thugs saw Wang Long’s “hair-shoe” and burst out laughing, then tried desperately to hold it in. Noticing the little girl trying to sneak away, they exchanged a look and lunged at Sheng Xia.
Before they knew what happened, both felt a sharp pain in their noses. Nosebleeds began to flow uncontrollably.
Seeing Sheng Xia reach for the brick, they both let out a synchronized “Ah!” and fell flat on the ground. Despite the pain in their noses, they didn’t make a sound.
“Who the hell are you?!” Wang Long was the boss of this area; no one dared cross him. Being hit twice today by an ambiguous-looking person set his temper ablaze.
But wary of Sheng Xia’s ability to knock down two large men, Wang Long secretly dialed a number. “Do you have any idea who I am?”
Hah, just wait a moment and my brothers will be here.
Wang Long stepped forward to stall for time, but Sheng Xia just weighed the brick in her hand. Seeming worried she might actually kill him with it, she simply swung a punch instead.
Her small fist sent him reeling. For every word Wang Long spoke, Sheng Xia threw a punch, eventually leveling him to the ground.
# Three sentences to make a man unable to stand up.
The two men faking unconsciousness on the ground saw this and decided the green fish mask was no different from a Grim Reaper. They intensified their “playing dead,” then, when Sheng Xia wasn’t looking, they scrambled up and bolted.
Sheng Xia hadn’t said a single word throughout the ordeal, maintaining a very “cool” posture. Once the thugs were gone, she couldn’t help but pump her fist and whisper, “So cool!”
Just as she was about to leave, she noticed a chubby kid in the corner staring at her, his lollipop nearly falling out of his mouth.
Seeing him staring, Sheng Xia made a mysterious “Shhh” gesture. “Don’t ask who I am. I’m on a mission, you know?”
Her expression was so serious the kid was completely fooled. “A mission?”
“That’s right. Don’t tell anyone. I’m actually…” Thinking of what kids his age liked, Sheng Xia balled her hand into a fist. “Superman! Superman is my true identity!”
She helped the kid stabilize his lollipop and made a pinky promise not to tell a soul. Then, she fled the socially awkward scene at lightning speed, failing to notice someone watching her from the shadows.
“Eldest Miss, should we send someone to investigate?” Sheng Xia’s appearance seemed natural, but it was a variable. It was better to be safe than sorry.
Lu Wanxing sat quietly in the corner, watching Sheng Xia’s retreating back with a thoughtful look. “No need. Go bring the child back first.”
Just now, Lu Wanxing had clearly heard the little boy’s inner thoughts: What a poor sister… so young, yet already so crazy.
She couldn’t even fool a child. Being that “silly,” she likely wasn’t sent by him.
But… why couldn’t she hear the inner thoughts of the Green Headed Fish?
