- After Being Forced Into a Facial Paralysis, the Villain Said I’m Such a Drama Queen
- Chapter 11 - Cut the Crap
The old woman looked at the silent duo with suspicion and asked, “What’s this? Do you two know each other?”
Lu Wanxing shook her head. “We don’t know each other; we’ve just met before.”
The grandmother was surprised, but seeing Sheng Xia’s expressionless face, she assumed they must have had an unpleasant encounter in the past. She had never seen Sheng Xia look so cold.
After going inside, the grandmother used the excuse of having Sheng Xia bring in some fruit to ask quietly, “Xiao Xia, did Wanwan do something to upset you before?”
Sheng Xia waved her hands frantically. “Grandma, you’ve misunderstood. If anyone should be upset, it’s her. I accidentally…” She paused to think of a title, “…I got that elder sister’s clothes dirty.”
“Then why the face?” If Sheng Xia’s gaze were any colder, a bystander would think they were sworn enemies.
“I can’t really explain it. My face just goes like this when I see people suddenly,” Sheng Xia replied, unsure of how to justify it. She suddenly felt that this forced “poker face” was incredibly inconvenient. She couldn’t exactly tape a sign to her forehead that said ‘Struck Dumb by Beauty.’
Fortunately, the grandmother didn’t press further. Relieved that there was no real conflict, she looked at Sheng Xia’s stiff little face and her “done with life” expression and couldn’t help but reach out and pinch her cheek.
This “child acting like an adult” vibe is so cute!!!
Ugh, what a good kid. Just as pinchable as Wanwan.
Lu Wanxing had just hidden the Barbie doll she had prepared earlier. When she came out, she overheard the grandmother’s thunderous inner thoughts.
Her gaze landed on Sheng Xia, whose eyes were darting around in bashful embarrassment while being pinched. Lu Wanxing wondered: How does she manage to remain completely expressionless while still making it so obvious what she’s thinking?
Noticing Lu Wanxing had returned, the grandmother told Sheng Xia to go out and “bond” with her. However, there was an age gap between them, and their interests differed. Recalling the information she had gathered earlier, Lu Wanxing decided to start with a topic the girl excelled at.
“I heard from the old lady that you’re in your senior year of high school. Have you thought about which university you want to attend?”
“I’m planning to apply to A University.” Mentioning studies made Sheng Xia instantly nervous, fearing Lu Wanxing would start drilling her on academic subjects.
She wasn’t the original owner of this body. Aside from Chinese literature, she couldn’t handle a single subject.
Lu Wanxing had seen Sheng Xia’s grades. If she could maintain them, A University wasn’t impossible. She nodded and pointed to the remote on the table, indicating Sheng Xia could watch TV.
“I’ll be looking over some things over there. Don’t mind me; just do your own thing.”
She could see Sheng Xia was uncomfortable and didn’t force the conversation. If it weren’t for the fact that the old lady had brought her over specifically to make friends, Lu Wanxing wouldn’t have bothered initiating conversation at all.
Sheng Xia couldn’t read minds, so she didn’t find the environment noisy or irritating like others did. Lu Wanxing appreciated the quiet, so she didn’t just retreat to her room and leave her guest alone in the living room.
There were various magazines and books on the coffee table to pass the time.
With the hosting duties settled, Lu Wanxing began operating her tablet, her fingers flying across the screen. She seemed to be handling something urgent.
Relieved that her academic cover wouldn’t be blown, Sheng Xia relaxed. She picked up a book at random and began observing Lu Wanxing.
[Streamer, why do you look so scared of the female supporting character?] The bullet comments asked. Although the female lead would eventually become a villain decisive, ruthless, and a total “war machine” at this stage, Lu Wanxing was still very attractive.
Intellectual, gentle, and empathetic, she rarely went out due to poor health, making her skin appear glowingly pale.
As the “White Moonlight” of the male lead, her beauty was top-tier. Her refined features were slightly sharp and authoritative, but that cold detachment was softened by a hint of sickly fragility. Sitting in her wheelchair, she evoked a strong sense of protective pity.
She looked difficult to approach, but certainly not “scary.”
Sheng Xia didn’t seem like a coward either; she had swung at that pervert without hesitation. Was Lu Wanxing really scarier than him?
“It’s not fear, it’s…” Sheng Xia looked at the comments, not knowing how to explain. However, she realized her stiffness was indeed over the top and made a mental note to adjust.
The topic dropped. Lu Wanxing finished her task, a look of contemplation crossing her brow as if she had encountered a thorny problem.
Lu Wanxing was dressed casually, likely because she felt relaxed at the grandmother’s house. When she wasn’t speaking, she seemed submerged in a quiet stillness, as if a thin film separated her from the world. Her exquisite profile looked like a porcelain doll—beautiful, but somewhat lifeless.
Sheng Xia always believed that smiles were contagious, which was why she loved to smile. Thinking of the grandmother’s words, she wanted to bring a bit of “humanity” back to Lu Wanxing, but she realized her own current “hardware” was failing her.
Sheng Xia tried her best to see if she could squeeze out a smile to emit some “sunshine vibes,” but her facial muscles just contorted weirdly. She overcompensated so hard she nearly rolled her eyes back into her head. After a few tries, she gave up in frustration.
“…” So tiring.
She didn’t realize that Lu Wanxing had seen the whole thing. Watching Sheng Xia’s bizarre facial contortions, a hint of amusement sparked in Lu Wanxing’s eyes.
Sheng Xia currently looked like the salted fish hanging by the old lady’s door completely lifeless, expressionless, and utterly “laying flat.”
It reminded her of the first time she saw Sheng Xia in that green fish head mask, looking dazed with its mouth agape. The resemblance was uncanny.
Sheng Xia was unwilling to give up after several failed attempts. She decided to head out for a bit to see if she could force a facial expression once she was away from the pressure. She made an excuse: “Grandma, I’m going out to buy something.”
“Alright, bring back some soy sauce while you’re at it,” the grandmother called out.
Sheng Xia wasn’t familiar with this area. Habitually wanting to explore her surroundings, she wandered along the outer streets. Suddenly, she saw the punk she had beaten up earlier running toward her, looking frantic.
Sheng Xia looked at the big oaf and reached out to keep him at a distance. “Talk if you want, but don’t get so close.”
Before he could speak, Dahu slumped to his knees with a thud. “Boss, please save my brother! He’s been…”
“Wait a second, what did you just call me?” Sheng Xia interrupted his potential long-winded explanation, rubbing her chin.
“Boss,” Dahu repeated, about to start explaining again, so anxious he was on the verge of tears.
“Stop! Get up first.” Sheng Xia had stepped aside when he knelt, and now she grabbed him by the collar to yank him up. This action caused Dahu’s tears to start flowing freely.
Dahu had been running at full speed looking for help. But since they had just moved to this area, they were strangers. Many people saw his fierce face and instinctively avoided him. Just as he was despairing, he saw Sheng Xia and, in a fit of desperation, rushed over.
Seeing that Sheng Xia had no reaction and didn’t even want to hear his explanation, the hope in his eyes began to fade. He gripped his iron rod, gritted his teeth, and prepared to go rescue Er wen by himself.
Da hu turned to run, but before he could take two steps, his back collar was snagged, forcing him to sit back down.
Sheng Xia glanced at him. “Lead the way. Why are you running…?”
It was unbearable to waste time on long explanations when things were urgent.
Da hu froze for a moment. Once he realized what Sheng Xia meant, a grin broke through his tears. He nodded vigorously. “Right away!”
Sheng Xia had wanted to be a “leader of the pack” for a long time, but that wish had never been fulfilled. Now that Da hu had said those words, she felt like her whole body had just received a spa treatment pure bliss.
Finally, someone recognized that she was born to be a leader. Although these two looked older than her, they were dim-witted; rounding it down, they were basically kids.
And for these “little kids,” she could never harden her heart to ignore their helpless eyes. It always made her remember…
Realizing her mind was wandering, Sheng Xia pulled a lollipop out of her pocket to refocus.
Da hu ran fast out of desperation, and Sheng Xia wasn’t slow either. The two quickly reached an alley.
Hearing footsteps, the thugs who were about to strike turned around. Er wen, who had been waiting in anticipation, felt his heart ease slightly when he saw Dahu’s relieved expression. It seemed his brother had found help.
However, when he saw that the only person behind Da hu was a small, thin figure casually eating a lollipop as if going for a stroll, his eyes rolled back, and he nearly fainted.
Why on earth did my dumb brother find Sheng Xia?! Sure, she had some strength, but these thugs were carrying knives! They weren’t pushovers like them.
It was over. Now all three of them were going to die here.
Er wen looked at Sheng Xia, who was still trailing behind, his eyes teary. He hoped she would say something submissive or just run away. He didn’t want to ruin a minor. Then, in the next second, he heard Sheng Xia say:
“Just come at me all at once. I still have to eat; fighting you one by one is a waste of time.”
In a daze, Er wen felt like he could see the Bridge of Helplessness.
Wait… this isn’t a savior. Did we just invite the King of Hell?
