After Being Cheated, I Had a Flash Marriage with My Ex's Aunt - Chapter 20.2
The missing piece of their home was a photo of them together. Once she had the pictures printed, that void would finally be filled.
That’s right, Li Sui thought. I need to nudge Mom about the wedding photos, too.
The last time they spoke, her mother mentioned several themes had already been shortlisted. It was time to get them on the schedule.
Over the next week, Li Sui wrapped up her latest manuscript updates and carved out time for a trip to the local Gan-Du Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. She managed to get everything in order for her grandmother’s admission, even making a special trip back to bring the elderly woman to stay at her villa for a few days.
White Shuyi, of course, had no objections.
When Bai Zhilan heard that Li Sui’s grandmother had arrived in Gan-Du, she immediately brought Old Mrs. Bai over for a visit. The meeting between the two matriarchs was a resounding success; the atmosphere at dinner was warm and harmonious. The two elderly women, being close in age, seemed to hit it off instantly, chatting away as if they were long-lost friends.
As for Old Mrs. Bai’s upcoming seventieth birthday gala at the end of the month, she insisted that Li Sui’s grandmother attend. The matriarch had never cared much for ostentatious displays, so the guest list remained intimate—mostly close friends and relatives well-known to the Bai family.
Old Mrs. Bai announced that the banquet would be the perfect occasion to officially share the news of Li Sui and Bai Shuyi’s marriage. Naturally, this meant a wedding date had to be set.
Since this year was a “Springless Year,” the two grandmothers sat huddled together over the traditional lunar calendar. After much deliberation, they both agreed that the wedding must take place before the end of the year to ensure good fortune.
They finally settled on January 18th—the day of the Laba Festival.
“A truly auspicious omen,” they declared.
Neither Bai Shuyi nor Li Sui had any complaints.
Bai Zhilan was practically buzzing with excitement. She wasted no time announcing the date in the family group chat. The remaining logistics—the invitations, the custom gown, the venue, the officiant—were all swept up under her wing.
When it came to the style of the ceremony, Bai Zhilan made it clear she was open to their input. However, she was firm on one thing: the twin celebrations had to be grand, magnificent, and utterly perfect.
That weekend, the two of them finally found themselves with a rare moment of leisure.
After dinner, Li Sui sat on the balcony, absentmindedly teasing the cats. Knowing that Li Sui didn’t have to stress over the wedding planning, Li Ke initiated a video call.
“Getting married on Laba is wonderful!” Li Ke chirped through the screen. “But you have to drag me along for the dress fittings. I insist on being the first to see you in it!”
Li Sui nodded with a smile. “Deal.”
Just the night before, “Mama Bai” had sent over a dizzying array of wedding dress designs, ranging from traditional Chinese styles to Western gowns. Li Sui had eventually consulted with Bai Shuyi, and together they had narrowed it down to two favorites.
Li Ke gave a mischievous giggle and rattled off an address. “Winter is just around the corner, and this hot spring resort has a fantastic reputation. My sister really wants to go, so why don’t we all head there tomorrow?”
Li Sui caught the subtext immediately. “Ooh, is our little Ke finally ready to make her move?”
“I think so,” Li Ke coughed, trying—and failing—to look dignified.
Li Sui knew Li Ke had been pining after a certain female artist for quite some time. They had met online and eventually became close friends in person. By a stroke of luck, the woman had ended up working at Li Sui’s company. Since then, Li Ke had been subtly fishing for information, occasionally dropping by the office to deliver thoughtful little gifts.
Unfortunately, their relationship hadn’t moved past the “friend” stage yet.
Li Ke hesitated for a moment before asking, “If you go… will your ‘better half’ be joining us?”
Li Sui wasn’t sure what Bai Shuyi’s schedule looked like, but she planned to ask. Before she could answer, however, Li Ke shifted gears.
“By the way… did you ever use that gift I sent you?”
Li Sui’s mind flashed to that particular set of pajamas. She gave an unnatural cough. “No.”
Li Ke took one look at her face and guessed the situation. “I knew it. You’re just too inexperienced.”
Realizing her phone was on speaker, Li Sui bolted upright, darting a nervous glance toward the living room. She frantically fumbled to turn the volume down.
Li Ke was busy tinkering with something on her end, her voice continuing a mile a minute. “Listen, our shop just got some ‘high-quality’ resources. Real-life tutorials, adult manga, even international film collections. I just sent a file over to you.”
Li Sui’s thoughts began to drift. It wasn’t that she was entirely ignorant of how two women shared intimacy, but like most people, she found the topic of “sex” a bit difficult to voice out loud. She didn’t want to know where Li Ke had sourced these “tutorials,” but she didn’t have the heart to ask, either.
“Are you even listening?”
Seeing her friend’s dazed expression, Li Ke teased, “What are you so shy for? We’re all adults here. It’s just like I said—you’re too green. You didn’t even ‘taste the soup’ before getting married, so of course you’re acting like a blushing bride now. If you ask me, you just need to be a bit bolder. Have a little wine, get some liquid courage, and just pounce on her like you did that one time…”
Sensing something, Li Sui looked up. Her heart skipped a violent beat.
She didn’t know how long she had been standing there, but Bai Shuyi was currently leaning against the glass door, watching her with a lazy, knowing smile.
Oh my god!
The sheer humiliation of being caught red-handed was overwhelming. Li Sui frantically disconnected the call, her face turning a shade of red so deep it looked like she might actually start glowing.
“How… how much did you hear?” she stammered in a tiny, trembling voice.
“I wouldn’t mind watching it together,” Bai Shuyi said, her tone laced with a hint of playful anticipation.
“Huh?” Li Sui’s brain stalled.
Bai Shuyi’s smile widened. In a voice as soft as a whisper, she added, “The ‘adult tutorials.’ I’d be more than happy to watch them with you. We can… improve together.”
Li Sui’s mouth fell open. A whirlwind of complex emotions swept through her, leaving her speechless for a long moment.
As if! Was she really that kind of person?
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Li Sui blurted out, her sense of shame hitting its limit. She couldn’t possibly admit to wanting to watch those videos in private. She shook her head vigorously. “We were just talking about the hot spring resort. We were planning to go for a soak tomorrow.”
“A hot spring sounds lovely,” Bai Shuyi replied smoothly, as if she hadn’t noticed the desperate subject change.
“You… want to go?” Li Sui asked softly.
Bai Shuyi nodded, her lips curving upward. “If I heard correctly, the resort you’re talking about is actually owned by my aunt.”
“That’s… quite a coincidence,” Li Sui muttered. She quickly pulled up her phone to search for the resort, desperate for any distraction.
Then, her fingers froze. It finally dawned on her.
Bai Shuyi had heard everything.
Suddenly, she felt the sofa dip beside her. She turned to find Bai Shuyi staring directly at her.
Bai Shuyi wasn’t wearing any makeup, yet her features were exquisitely refined—her naturally arched brows and long, sweeping lashes looked as if they had been meticulously painted. She simply sat there, watching Li Sui in silence.
There was something in that gaze—a depth of emotion that Li Sui couldn’t quite decipher. It made her heart tighten in her chest, and her nervous smile began to falter.
“What… what is it?”
The fresh scent of Li Sui’s body wash drifted toward Bai Shuyi. In a tender voice, she said, “I’m really looking forward to that hot spring.”
Li Sui pressed her lips together. “Me too.”
“Good.” Bai Shuyi chuckled softly. “I’ll have my aunt make the arrangements. I hear the ‘couple’s pools’ are very popular.”
Li Sui’s ears turned a vivid pink. “Oh? So what?” she grumbled, her expression a mix of awkwardness and intrigue.
Bai Shuyi leaned in close, her lips almost brushing Li Sui’s ear in an intimate whisper. “Well, I want to experience what it’s like to share a pool with you, of course. Don’t you?”
The moment Bai Shuyi’s lips made ghost-like contact with her earlobe, a strange sensation washed over Li Sui—like a low-voltage current starting from her ear and racing through her entire body. It was a tingling, numbing, and utterly embarrassing sensation.
Instinctively, Li Sui tucked her neck in and glanced at the “culprit.” Their eyes met, and Li Sui’s heart began to quiver.
Bai Shuyi was watching her intently. Her gaze was predatory, like a hunter who had finally cornered its prey. Li Sui felt her breath hitch; her mind was a chaotic mess.
A hot spring was such an intimate setting. In a place like that, things between two adults tended to happen naturally.
After a moment, Li Sui steadied her breathing and met that intense gaze head-on. “Fine,” she challenged.
Bai Shuyi understood exactly what she was agreeing to. Her eyes crinkled at the corners. “Then it’s a date. I’ll handle the arrangements.”
The air between them suddenly turned heavy with tension. But just as Li Sui was about to move, a chorus of tiny, fierce meows erupted from the other side of the balcony.
The tuxedo cat and the Russian Blue had, for reasons known only to them, engaged in a life-or-death wrestling match. Fur was flying, and several decorative ornaments were caught in the crossfire.
“Tsk, tsk.” Li Sui let out a weary sigh. “You two again!”
Why were they always at each other’s throats? Keeping a Russian Blue and a tuxedo cat together was like housing two of the most stubborn creatures on earth; they fought like clockwork.
Li Sui lunged forward. In one swift motion, she snatched both cats by the scruffs of their necks.
“Dudu! Dundun!” she scolded, her voice stern. “If you fight one more time, consider your canned treats canceled!”
The threat hit home. The two cats went limp in her hands, their bravado vanishing instantly. They became the picture of obedience.
Bai Shuyi arched an eyebrow, finding the scene fascinating. It was the first time she had seen the cats actually fight—and the first time she had seen Li Sui so vibrantly take charge of the unruly pair.
Seeing that they had settled down, Bai Shuyi reached for a jar of treats.
“Here, here,” she cooed, shaking the jar to get their attention like she was soothing toddlers. “You shouldn’t make your ‘mom’ angry, you know? Be good babies.”
Li Sui set them back on the ground. As expected, the allure of snacks was too much to resist. The cats immediately swarmed Bai Shuyi, happily munching on their freeze-dried treats.
It was a picture of perfect harmony—save for the few stray tufts of fur drifting through the air, a silent testament to the chaos that had just unfolded.
“I’m their ‘sister,'” Li Sui corrected, looking at Bai Shuyi. Her cheeks were still burning.
“Is that so?” Bai Shuyi crouched down in front of her, looking up with eyes full of clear amusement. “Then I suppose I’m their ‘sister’ too.”
“I… I’m going to take out the trash.”
Li Sui suddenly remembered the bag of used cat litter. In a flurry of motion, she grabbed the bag and bolted out the door without looking back.
Bai Shuyi knew she was just running away out of shyness. She quickly picked up her pace to follow. “Wait for me! I’m coming too.”
The autumn night in Gan-Du was accompanied by a gentle breeze. After disposing of the trash, the two took a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood. It was comfortable and serene. They chatted about nothing in particular, jumping from one topic to the next.
Ever since Bai Shuyi’s mother had stayed over, they had shared Li Sui’s bedroom to avoid any awkward questions from the elders. With Li Sui’s grandmother now recuperating at the house, the arrangement had become permanent.
They slept together every night.
At first, Li Sui had been restless, but after waking up several times to find herself locked in a “bear hug” with Bai Shuyi, she had eventually adapted. Since Bai Shuyi didn’t seem to mind, she didn’t see a reason to bring it up.
