After Being Adopted by the Obsessive Male Lead - Chapter 6
When he opened his eyes again, he found himself lying on a gray, decaying wooden floor. Cobwebs choked the corners, and a small ventilation window high on the wall allowed the fading rays of the setting sun to filter in. In the shafts of light, he could see countless dust motes dancing in the air.
This was an abandoned house.
His wheelchair was nowhere to be seen.
Chang Le felt a wave of bitterness. Right now, he was truly like a fish on a chopping block. No, a fish could at least flop around, he could barely even crawl. No wonder they hadn’t even bothered to tie him up.
The dry, rotting wooden door let out a piercing screech as the thug entered.
Chang Le wasted no time trying to distance himself from the Great Demon. “I was only rescued by Miss Qiu the day before yesterday. I barely know that man named Jun. If you want to threaten Asura, you’ve got the wrong person.”
The man sneered, the flesh on his face bunching up. “Still acting? Asura is already on his way.”
How is that possible…
Suddenly, the old door splintered into a thousand pieces. The man hurriedly scrambled back several steps.
Chang Le’s heart hammered against his ribs at the commotion. He looked up and, behind the flying shards of wood, he actually saw Jun Wang!
He had kicked the door down!
“A nuisance,” Jun Wang said as he stepped into the room. His blue robes looked almost black in the dim light of the shack.
He acted as if the sturdy young man wasn’t even there. His gaze, sharp as a leopard stalking the jungle, locked onto Chang Le. “How did you know I am Asura?”
Chang Le’s breath hitched.
The violent thumping in his chest echoed in his ears. His long eyelashes fluttered uncontrollably, but he didn’t dare look Jun Wang in the eye. Was this man here to save him? Because it looked more like he was here to silence him!
His gaze darted around wildly, and he suddenly saw the thug behind Jun Wang swing a long blade, leaping into the air to strike. In mid-air, the blade split into three, whistling through the air with enough force to split bamboo.
Chang Le instinctively shouted, “Behind you! A blade!”
In the blink of an eye, a star-shaped spiritual seal glowed between Jun Wang’s fingertips. The three massive blades crashed against the seal, vibrating violently and emitting a low, metallic hum.
Only then did Jun Wang leisurely turn around, fixing his gaze on the thug. “You want to kill me?”
“Hmph, today is the day you die!” The man spat through gritted teeth. He formed a hand seal, channeling his spiritual power until his hair and clothes whipped about. The blades struck again with the weight of a thousand pounds.
A brilliant burst of golden light flooded half the room. The blades abruptly snapped and flew backward, sending the man tumbling out of the house along with the shards.
Jun Wang idly toyed with a fragment of the broken blade in his hand.
The man coughed up a mouthful of blood and tried to use his broken sword to stand, but he was suddenly pierced through by the flying shard.
Vivid red bloomed across the wasteland outside.
Chang Le was completely stunned. This man’s cultivation was terrifying, the Great Demon had only used two fingers.
The room grew a bit darker. Jun Wang stood at the threshold where light met shadow, his silhouette half-obscured. He turned back to look at Chang Le, the killing intent in his eyes yet to fade.
The terror on Chang Le’s face deepened.
Suddenly, Jun Wang gripped his chin, his long fingers sinking into the soft, pale flesh.
The warm, supple texture surprised Jun Wang. He instinctively tightened his grip, lifting the boy’s head toward him. “Now, let’s talk about you. How do you know I am Asura?”
His voice was like fine jade, resonant and magnetic, but at this moment, it sounded like a funeral dirge.
Chang Le grabbed Jun Wang’s arm, feeling the taut, powerful muscles beneath the fabric. He couldn’t break free.
“I… I guessed! That man was shouting about someone named Asura and insisted it had something to do with Miss Qiu. I don’t know who Asura is, but since I only know you and Miss Qiu, I figured it had to be you! Let go!”
The flesh of Chang Le’s cheek was squeezed into a bunch. The pain brought glistening tears to his eyes, which rolled down and splashed onto Jun Wang’s hand.
They were wet and cool.
Jun Wang’s grip loosened for a fraction of a second before tightening again. “Is that the truth?”
“It is! I really didn’t know you before. I was only saved by Miss Qiu the day before yesterday, how could I have possibly known you were Asura?”
“Then why were you so hostile the first time we met?”
Why are we back to this question again?
“Is it because I look fierce?” Jun Wang crouched down beside Chang Le. “Or is it because you like Qiu He?”
This is a huge misunderstanding! The Great Demon thought he liked Qiu He and was treating him as a romantic rival.
He wasn’t here to silence a witness, he was here to kill a competitor!
He couldn’t let the man think they were rivals, or he really would be killed.
“I… I have no such feelings for Miss Qiu. To be honest… I actually like men.”
Jun Wang froze, his hand suddenly dropping away.
Finding himself free, Chang Le immediately scrambled to the side. “Miss Qiu said you were a gentleman, yet you’re so cruel to me and even misunderstood my intentions toward her. I like men! Men! Do you understand?”
His misty eyes were full of grievance, and his voice trembled slightly from the lie.
Being looked at with such a gaze, Jun Wang, a man facing another man, felt a rare sense of being at a loss.
Earlier today, that old woman had told him Chang Le loved Qiu He and warned him to be careful. Though he didn’t know why he needed to be “careful,” he had believed it after seeing how much Chang Le had rejected him these past few days. Even if it were true, Jun Wang had only intended to scare him a little to test his courage. He never expected this fair-skinned young master to actually prefer men.
He had heard of “sworn brothers” in town, but he had never encountered it himself. He looked at the person on the ground, and an untimely memory of the smooth texture of his skin during the medicine application surfaced.
No wonder his skin was so delicate, this young master was truly pampered beyond belief. Tsk.
But he looked so pitiful now. His white clothes were stained with dust, and his cheek was pinched red like a peach.
Jun Wang’s tone softened instinctively. “You know I am desperate to recover my memories. Let’s just pretend what happened just now never occurred.”
Chang Le’s heart was still racing. He had almost died. Fortunately, the Great Demon believed him. He nodded frantically.
Thinking he had calmed the boy down, Jun Wang scooped him up and slung him over his shoulder like a sack of grain to head out.
Chang Le’s stomach slammed against the hard shoulder, triggering a sudden wave of pressure and discomfort. The sensation spread as he was jostled. “Mmph… don’t carry me like this.”
“Why?” Jun Wang shifted his posture, cradling him horizontally in his arms. He noticed Chang Le’s face was turning as red as a cooked shrimp. “What’s wrong?”
I need to pee…
How was he supposed to say that? And how would he even do it? He couldn’t stand, and it’s not like there was a toilet nearby.
But he really couldn’t hold it anymore. He gripped Jun Wang’s collar, the strange and shameful sensation forcing his eyes to turn red. He stammered, his words coming out with great difficulty, “I need to relieve myself… what should I do?”
Jun Wang came to a dead halt. The person in his arms was too embarrassed to face him and buried his face in Jun Wang’s chest, his body curling into a ball from the growing pressure. Just a moment ago, he had been terrified of this Great Demon, but now Chang Le could only hope that this man could find a solution for his predicament.
But what could be done?
The only way to avoid a mess was right in front of him. At this moment, he was the only one who could help this poor young master out of his bind. A strange, subtle feeling rose in Jun Wang’s heart. He held Chang Le and turned, heading toward the backyard of the abandoned house.
