- Chapter 6 - Don't Take the Bait - That Human Definitely Has an Agenda, and Not a Good One.
“She really went to sleep…”
After showering, Lan Ye unlocked her watch and checked it, the message she sent still hadn’t received a reply. It had been almost an hour. She was a bit surprised by the other party’s schedule, in Lan Ye’s mind, a “trendy” person like that would usually have a pretty active nightlife.
Forget it. Lan Ye strapped the watch back onto her wrist. The matter of having kittens wasn’t so urgent that it had to be solved tonight. Besides, she was sleepy.
Since waking up from her vegetative state, Lan Ye’s body seemed perfectly fine, and she had plenty of energy during the day. However, once night fell, she felt a lack of stamina. Before the car accident, Lan Ye was a “seed-tier” night owl, the deeper the night, the more energetic she became. Now, it was barely 11:00 PM, and her eyelids were already sticking together. her brain felt sluggish, as if it couldn’t turn anymore.
Squinting, she climbed into bed. The moment her head hit the pillow, she was out.
Her consciousness sank deeper and deeper. After an unknown amount of time, Lan Ye sensed a familiar, rich fragrance in the air, and her body gradually began to heat up. She wanted to pull at her collar to let out some steam, but as soon as she moved, a burning hand caught hers.
A hand was stroking her eyes.
“Don’t cry…”
The raspy voice was like a summer night breeze brushing against a damp nape, precisely soothing yet leaving one craving more. Her heart rate accelerated. Lan Ye arched her body, feeling the corners of her eyes grow even wetter.
Soft lips replaced the scorching fingertips, pressing against the corners of her eyes as a warm, wet tongue licked away the salty tears.
“Don’t cry…”
Lan Ye realized belatedly that it was she who was crying. A stream of warmth at just the right temperature seemed to be washing through her muscles and bones. As her body relaxed, tears flowed out uncontrollably.
So comfortable…
“Mnh~” Lan Ye felt that warmth start to travel up her neck, and her chaotic mind felt as though it were soaking in a tub of warm water. The person pressing down on her released her hand. Those seemingly steaming hands wandered aimlessly over her body, yet they set fires with precision.
It was so hot.
Lan Ye was getting too hot to bear. She tried to dodge the palms pressed against her skin, but the person above her seemed to possess an immovable strength. No matter how she struggled or twisted, she couldn’t escape or hide.
Through a blur of tears, Lan Ye struggled to open her eyes a crack. In her vision, pink bubbles were bursting layer by layer. The popping sound mimicked her heartbeat.
Lan Ye swung her wrist forcefully, sweeping away the pink air that felt like a final, thin veil of gauze. Unexpectedly, she met a pair of amber eyes.
Deep, charming, dangerous, swirling. A single look felt like falling in forever.
“Lin?”
“Mm.”
The raspy voice held a hint of a smile. Before Lan Ye could wonder what she was smiling about, her long-parched lips were sealed in the next second. Those hands that had wandered down to her ankles gripped her slender legs and pushed them up, while sharp teeth took a bite of her calf.
Lan Ye let out a cry.
As their bodies pressed together again, they crushed a field of pink bubbles. Amidst the crackling, intense sounds, Lan Ye couldn’t help but tilt her head back. Her fully exposed neck was bitten and sucked in the next moment.
“Don’t…”
The trembling words reached the other person’s ears clearly. Feeling a slight pause in the movements of the person above her, Lan Ye anxiously pulled them closer and finished her sentence between gasps.
“Don’t stop… keep biting me…”
It feels so good. I want more.
Her arched neck was bitten and then slowly licked. The tongue, lined with fine barbs, left a trail of numbness wherever it went. It was a numbness that reached the marrow of her bones, as if a warm breath were drilling into the gaps. It was agonizing, teasing, and utterly intoxicating.
Lan Ye held the person tightly, rubbing and twisting, responding and entangling with feverish intensity. When their tongues met again, a sweetness developed, fermenting in the mouth until it was more intoxicating than alcohol.
Just as Lan Ye wanted to savor the taste, something on her wrist began to vibrate.
Buzz…buzz….buzz…buzz…
The person on top of her seemed ready to leave because of the noise. Lan Ye reached out and slapped the thing on her wrist that was disturbing them. With a few frantic taps, the vibration finally stopped.
Lan Ye pulled the person back.
On the other side, Ju Lin who had just stepped off the boxing ring with sweat pouring down her forehead, looked at the disconnected call. A sharp glint flashed in her amber eyes, and a trace of irritation lingered in her fierce, post-fight gaze.
Si Qing entered the locker room with a towel. Seeing that look, she paused. “What’s wrong?”
Ju Lin had been boxing all night; why did she still look so irritable?
Ju Lin glanced at Si Qing but didn’t answer. She lowered her head to tap on her phone screen. Si Qing walked over, intending to wipe the sweat from Ju Lin’s brow, but Ju Lin snatched the towel away.
Si Qing looked at the mottled bloodstains on the back of Ju Lin’s hand and sighed inwardly.
Orcs were different from humans. In the beginning, when they first evolved human forms from their beast forms, they were still controlled by their heat cycles. This uncontrollable physiological response was miserable. Fortunately, through long evolution, the mental strength of Orcs grew, and these purely wild habits evolved as well.
The uncontrollable heat cycles vanished, but once a month, there was still a day when their mental energy became unstable, and physiological desires would be several times higher than usual. If they didn’t take medication, they needed high-intensity stimulation during this time, like street racing, combat, or sex.
Generally, Orcs preferred not to use medication because indulging and satisfying desire was a very pleasurable thing, a dual stimulation of the body and mind.
But that required a way to satisfy it. Someone like Ju Lin, who had boxed all night and still wasn’t satisfied, remaining irritable while refusing medication was a bit “catty.”
“Tonight’s prize money is a bit of a hassle to count in cash. The boss said you can pick it up next time; she’ll have it boxed up for you.”
“Mm.”
Si Qing watched the displeasure on Ju Lin’s face, wondering how she planned to soothe her rampaging mental energy next. She had fought all night and flattened every fighter in the arena, clearing out the prize pool. If she wanted to keep fighting, she’d have to find a different club.
Just as she was about to ask where to go next, Si Qing caught a glimpse of Ju Lin’s phone. She happened to see Ju Lin setting a contact nickname.
[Lan Ye]
“Is it that human?” Si Qing was surprised. “She’s looking for you?”
As she spoke, she caught sight of the message interface. She saw the message Lan Ye had sent in one glance. “Tsk, this woman. Asking if you’re asleep in the middle of the night, what does she want?”
Si Qing had always said that woman definitely had an agenda, the malicious kind.
Ju Lin turned her head to look at Si Qing.
Si Qing: “I wasn’t peeping. It just happened to be right in my line of sight.” You couldn’t blame her for having good vision.
Ju Lin withdrew her gaze, turned off her phone, tossed the towel, and walked out.
Si Qing hurried to catch up, continuing her unfinished thought: “She actually claimed to be the kid’s mom. Didn’t she act like she wanted nothing to do with you at the hospital? It hasn’t been that long, and she’s already looking for you again, messaging in the middle of the night. This is very suspicious.”
At this, Si Qing realized why the two of them were at this underground boxing ring tonight. “The last time that human broke into your room, she picked the exact day of your Peak Desire Period. Now, late at night on this specific day, she sends an ambiguous text. What is she trying to do?”
Si Qing’s mind raced, analyzing the purpose behind Lan Ye’s behavior.
Ju Lin walked with long strides. Before Si Qing could finish her analysis, Ju Lin had already left the arena, reached the car, and climbed into the passenger seat. Seeing this, Si Qing immediately took the driver’s seat.
Although the “Princess” sought stimulation, she had principles. Simply put, she only endangered herself. It was dangerous for an Orc to drive during their Peak Desire Period. Ju Lin usually didn’t drive on this day and generally didn’t even leave the house.
After getting in, Si Qing was about to ask where to go when she saw Ju Lin staring at her phone as if deep in thought. Ju Lin looked at the unanswered messages and, after a moment of hesitation, dialed the number again.
But the call was hung up again…
Ju Lin turned off the phone, tossed it into the door’s storage compartment, and closed her eyes, hiding the irritation within.
Seeing who Ju Lin was calling, Si Qing felt contempt for Lan Ye’s behavior. What’s that supposed to mean? Hanging up on her, is she trying to make her anxious on purpose?
Just as she was considering using her police clearance to track the woman down, the car phone rang. Seeing Ju Lin resting, Si Qing instinctively moved to hang up, but she accidentally pressed “answer.”
Since Ju Lin had tossed the phone aside, the call automatically connected to the car’s Bluetooth. A woman’s voice filled the car, soft, honeyed, and slightly nasal, like a pot of thick, sweet soup still steaming.
“Sorry~ Lin, I was sleeping just now and didn’t hear the phone.”
When Ju Lin heard that “Lin,” she opened her eyes. Outside the car window, through the gaps of tall buildings, a ray of sunlight happened to pierce through the morning mist.
It was dawn. The city was beginning to warm up.
A bit of light entered Ju Lin’s eyes. She looked at the center console screen, where the name she had just saved was glowing.
[Lan Ye]
Ju Lin’s restless mental energy grew strangely calm. She spoke in a low voice, “You messaged me… do you need something?”
“Mm~ I have something to ask… are you free today?”
Si Qing raised an eyebrow. Picking today to meet… meeting an Orc during their Peak Desire Period usually meant one thing: a hook-up. She looked at Ju Lin with a complex gaze, a human like this was clearly not a suitable partner for another “date.”
Ju Lin noticed her gaze. The depths of her own eyes were equally complex, filled with ripples. Her mental energy, which had just calmed down, began to turn chaotic again.
The other side didn’t hear a response and spoke again: “Hmm? Are you free today?”
Ju Lin took a deep breath. “Today?”
A sharp glint flashed in her eyes. This human should know, today was her Peak Desire Period.
“Is today not okay?”
Si Qing gasped. This woman! She wants to sleep with the Princess again! “Of course it’s not okay,” she thought, shaking her head decisively at Ju Lin.
Then, she saw the Princess’s lips move as she slowly uttered two words.
“The address.”
Si Qing’s eyes widened. How could she agree?!
“The address? You decide. Pick a ‘convenient’ place to talk.”
Si Qing heard the keyword “convenient.” It was a blatant suggestion.
The human’s soft voice echoed through the speakers, surrounding Ju Lin in high-fidelity sound, teasing her nerves and plucking at her heartstrings.
Convenient… Ju Lin thought about what counted as convenient.
The human’s voice rang out again. “Once you’ve decided on the address, message me. I’m going to take a shower first.”
Shower! Si Qing’s eyes trembled. She looked at Ju Lin, stunned. This human is too bold!
After the call was disconnected, Si Qing immediately shouted, “Your Highness, she’s seducing you! You can’t take the bait!”
How terrifying, she thought. Don’t they say human emotions are subtle?
“Drive.”
Ju Lin lowered her head to type, not looking up to see Si Qing’s shocked expression.
“Where to?”
“Home.”
Si Qing was dumbfounded. “You’re meeting her at your house?”
Revisiting the scene of the crime! That was certainly “convenient”… they could “catch up” right in bed.
