After Becoming a Scummy Alpha, I Was Spoiled by a Sweet Omega - Chapter 3
Ning Xuan was on her way back to the Yu family villa.
On the ride home, she went over the plot again in her mind. Given the situation, there were only two paths ahead:
The first—play the lovesick puppy, grovel before Yu Yazhi, and wait for her magnanimous forgiveness.
The second—divorce Yu Yazhi and live freely ever after.
But being a lovesick puppy had its risks. Beg all you want, in the end you might be left with nothing.
As for Yu Yazhi’s attitude toward her, Ning Xuan knew herself well enough—if she ever stooped that low, it would be her utter defeat.
On the other hand, a divorce would strip her bare. All her resources now were thanks to the Yu family. Without the marriage, she’d truly have nothing.
So, in conclusion, she could only take the softer approach: maintain a good relationship with Yu Yazhi. If she managed to put the young lady in a good mood, maybe she’d even get a generous breakup fee—legal, legitimate, and enough to live comfortably.
Wait a second. Wouldn’t that still make her a freeloader?
No way!
She couldn’t waste the original owner’s good looks and body. She had to work hard—make money, build a career, and stand on her own.
Strength. That was the only real strength.
And when her wings were finally strong enough, she’d even find someone who could truly love Yu Yazhi. After all, love conquers all. No matter how cold and aloof Yu Yazhi seemed, she surely wouldn’t be able to resist the blazing fire of true affection.
The thought made Ning Xuan smile in satisfaction.
From the driver’s seat, Zhao Luoluo caught that smile out of the corner of her eye and sighed to herself: Xuan-jie’s mental fortitude is something else. She just flirted with Bai Meng in her wife’s hotel, and now she’s heading home with a smile on her face—as if she’s on her way to a romantic date instead of a possible battlefield.
“Xuan-jie, you’re really planning to stay at President Yu’s place tonight?”
Her tone wasn’t so much a question as a reminder: If you go back, does President Yu even know? Will she agree? After the way she treated you tonight, aren’t you afraid she’ll make you kneel on a washboard the moment you step inside?
But Ning Xuan didn’t catch the hidden meaning at all. She nodded earnestly. “Yes, I’ll stay at her place. Later, go by my apartment and pack my things. Not just tonight—unless work requires otherwise, I’ll be living there from now on.”
Zhao Luoluo: “Got it.”
As an assistant, it wasn’t her place to pry into her boss’s private life. She could only nod and obey.
The car slowed.
Ning Xuan looked out the window. A villa in classical style came into view, solemn and imposing enough to make one hesitate before entering.
The car rolled into the courtyard.
Housekeeper Wu-sao was the first to greet them.
She was a middle-aged Beta in a neat black-and-white uniform. Fine lines at the corners of her eyes lent her a gentle, kindly look.
Except, right now her smile looked a bit stiff. Still, she quickly smoothed it over. “Miss Ning, you’re back. Please, come inside.”
Her tone was warm and composed, but as she turned, she gave a subtle signal to the maids behind her.
The two maids instantly understood and hurried to phone their mistress. After all, ever since the wedding, Ning Xuan had moved out. Her sudden return could only mean trouble.
Unaware of the servants’ whispers, Ning Xuan stepped out of the car. After saying goodbye to Zhao Luoluo, she followed Wu-sao into the living room.
The space was filled with a faint, clean fragrance—very much like Yu Yazhi’s scent.
Decorated in pale tones, the villa looked serene and understated.
Aside from Wu-sao and the two maids, there was no one else. Each was busy with their own duties, and the vast house felt cold and empty.
Yu Yazhi wasn’t home yet.
Ning Xuan glanced around and politely asked, “Wu-sao, may I know which room is mine?”
Those two words—may I—left the housekeeper a little stunned.
After a brief pause, she quickly replied, “Oh, Miss Ning, are you staying here tonight? Your room will need a bit of tidying first. I’ll arrange it right away.”
She ordered tea to be brought out.
“Thank you.”
Ning Xuan offered her thanks, but didn’t drink. She sank into the soft sofa, closed her eyes slightly, and waited for Yu Yazhi to return.
Meanwhile, Yu Yazhi had just left the Yu residence when she got a call from the servants: Ning Xuan had come back.
Her temples throbbed instantly. With a sigh, she pressed her fingers to her forehead and hurried home.
The moment she entered, she saw Ning Xuan lounging on the sofa, playing with her phone.
She had changed into a cream-colored loungewear set. Her long hair spilled casually over her shoulders, adding a hint of lazy elegance to her beauty.
On the TV, Ning Xuan—appearing as a mentor on a show—was commenting on a contestant:
“Yes, good looks, a pleasant voice, great dance skills, and most importantly, a natural rapport with the audience. I think she’s a very promising newcomer.”
The host then turned to Bai Meng for her opinion.
Bai Meng rested her chin in her hand, gazing at Ning Xuan with a teasing smile, as if she was trying to seduce her. “I agree with Mentor Ning’s assessment.”
Yu Yazhi frowned at the scene, quickly averting her eyes from Bai Meng and fixing them back on Ning Xuan.
“Miss is—”
Wu-sao started to announce her arrival, but Yu Yazhi silenced her with a gesture.
The housekeeper understood at once, motioning for the maids to withdraw with her and leave the two women alone.
Ning Xuan noticed none of this. She was busy replying to messages on WeChat.
Zhao Luoluo had reached her apartment and was packing her clothes. She even sent photos, asking what to do about her pet cat.
Ning Xuan, a devoted cat lover, couldn’t resist at the sight of that soft, plump, snowy bundle. She immediately replied: [Bring her along, of course!]
Zhao Luoluo was so shocked she sent a voice note: “Xuan-jie, have you forgotten? President Yu is allergic to fur!”
Ning Xuan: “…”
Such details.
She really hadn’t noticed at all.
“Then don’t bring her over anymore. Just remember to feed her. I’ll visit her often enough.”
She was still speaking into her phone when a cold voice suddenly rang out above her.
“What are you doing here?”
The voice was icy.
Ning Xuan jumped, nearly dropping her phone.
She quickly looked up to find Yu Yazhi standing there, looking down at her from on high.
“That”
Ning Xuan hurriedly stood, acting not the least bit like an outsider. On the contrary, she even carried herself with the air of the homeowner, smiling brightly. “Yazhi, you’re back.”
Yu Yazhi: “…”
In the past, she had thought Ning Xuan was nothing more than a beautiful scoundrel, frivolous and unrestrained. But now, it seemed the woman was also shamelessly thick-skinned.
“You’re not welcome here. Don’t forget our agreement.”
“Uh…”
Of course Ning Xuan remembered that ridiculous agreement—after marriage, they would live separately, never interfere in each other’s lives, and only make appearances together for important occasions.
But that had been the original Ning Xuan’s idea, all so she could play around outside without being restrained by Yu Yazhi.
Now that she had taken her place, under the current circumstances, she absolutely could not allow their relationship to deteriorate further.
With that thought, she forced a sheepish smile. “Of course I remember. It’s just, it’s been so long since I last saw you. We happened to meet today, and you misunderstood me about something earlier. I feel I ought to reflect on myself.
You’re right. My name, Ning Xuan, will always be tied to yours, Yu Yazhi. You’re not only a wealthy heiress, but also the person in charge of the hotel. Your image is far more important than that of a little celebrity like me. So I’ve decided—from now on, unless work requires it, I’ll stay home. That way, no one will have reason to gossip.”
Yu Yazhi: “…”
In truth, that really wasn’t necessary.
She frowned, just about to reject the idea—
When Aunt Wu walked over. “Miss Ning, I’ve already prepared your room. Go have a look and see if anything’s missing.”
Aunt Wu knew nothing of Ning Xuan’s messy scandals outside. To her, Ning Xuan still seemed pleasant enough.
Besides, back then, the one who had insisted on marrying Ning Xuan was Yu Yazhi. In her eyes, that meant Yazhi cared more about Ning Xuan than she let on.
She didn’t know why the two had grown estranged, why they’d lived like strangers after marriage. But now that Ning Xuan was moving back in, it had to mean she wanted to reconcile.
Having cared for Yu Yazhi for many years, Aunt Wu treated her like a daughter. Naturally, she wished for the two of them to make peace.
Thinking of Yu Yazhi’s warm heart behind her cold exterior, Aunt Wu stepped in to smooth things over before her young lady could say something harsh.
With Aunt Wu’s interruption, Yu Yazhi gave it a second thought and relented. Indeed, if Ning Xuan stayed quietly at home, it would actually save her trouble and allow her to focus on the Yu family’s affairs.
Seeing Yu Yazhi’s frown ease, Ning Xuan knew the heiress had silently agreed. She quickly seized the moment, promising with a smile, “Don’t worry, I won’t disrupt your life.”
Yu Yazhi said nothing more, leaving only a cold, indifferent silhouette as she turned and went upstairs.
Ning Xuan, however, thanked Aunt Wu warmly.
Now that she had secured permission to stay, her heart loosened. Being able to get closer and build goodwill was already a victory. With that, her hunger surged back in full force.
Of course, she put it delicately. “Aunt Wu, I forgot to ask—did Yazhi have dinner yet? Shouldn’t we prepare something for her?”
Aunt Wu nodded and went into the kitchen.
Ning Xuan followed after, happily mooching food and drink.
Just as she was eating heartily, a WeChat message from Zhao Luoluo popped up:
【Xuan-jie, I’ve got news! The company has already settled everything with Miss Bai Meng’s team. The day after tomorrow, the show can resume recording as normal.】
Ning Xuan froze. Resume recording? After what happened—two people sharing a bed, almost losing control—and they could still film together afterward?
Was Bai Meng really that bold or was it simply that in everyone else’s eyes, the original Ning Xuan was just that shamelessly wild?
【Can I not go? Too awkward.】
【Awkward? Xuan-jie, you’re the number one beauty-Alpha in the industry. Bai Meng, no matter how capable, is just an Oga. She’s not embarrassed—what are you afraid of?】
【You don’t get it!】
Frustrated, Ning Xuan tossed her phone aside with a bitter laugh. What good was being an Alpha? In front of someone like Yu Yazhi—an Oga—she was nothing but a coward.
All that talk about Alphas being powerful, full of wild, primal dominance, Ha. Was she a fake Alpha, then?
【Don’t get what?】
【Xuan-jie?】
【Oh right, Xuan-jie, I’ve packed your things. I’ll bring them over later.】
【The script for the recording has been sent to your email. You must read it!】
One message after another came flooding in.
Her phone buzzed nonstop.
Annoyed, Ning Xuan shoveled down the rest of her meal in a few bites, then grabbed her phone and replied:
【Okay, got it. I’ll read it and be ready for the recording.】
Typing her reply, she walked upstairs.
Aunt Wu had arranged her room right next to Yu Yazhi’s.
As she passed by, a sharp cry rang out—
“Miss!”
It was Aunt Wu’s voice.
Ning Xuan’s heart skipped a beat. She rushed in. “What happened?”
The words had barely left her lips when a heady, sweet fragrance suddenly flooded her senses.
The scent was soft and lingering, yet it seized her weary nerves and set them thrumming with excitement.
It was the smell of chocolate.
Utterly intoxicating.
“Aunt Wu, get her out!”
Yu Yazhi’s cold voice clashed against that sweet, enticing scent.
Only then did Ning Xuan notice her—Yu Yazhi curled up on the bed, knees hugged to her chest, her flushed face as dewy and tempting as a ripe peach, half-hidden beneath damp strands of hair. Even her trembling voice carried a faint quiver.
As if she was struggling desperately to suppress something.
She was in heat.
