After Becoming a Scummy Alpha, I Was Spoiled by a Sweet Omega - Chapter 28.2
Before she could decide, Su Manyun’s call came through.
She hurried to answer. “Sister Yun?”
Su Manyun’s voice was calm and steady. “I’ve seen the trending topic. Don’t panic—I’ll handle it.”
“Oh, okay. But how?” Ning Xuan asked nervously.
“This kind of thing can’t be rushed,” Su Manyun explained. “To CP-fans, denying it too quickly looks like covering up. Saying nothing makes it seem true. So the best approach is to wait—let the topic cool down and get buried by other hot news. Then we explain, and it’ll carry more weight.”
“I see. I’ll listen to you.”
Ning Xuan hung up, but worry still gnawed at her. What if Yu Yazhi misunderstood? Her image with her was fragile enough as it was.
Su Manyun, meanwhile, seemed in good spirits. “Ning Xuan, I have to say, you’re doing pretty well lately. Your popularity’s stable. Honestly, I was worried you weren’t active enough and thought about creating some buzz to catch Director He’s attention. Turns out I didn’t need to.”
Ning Xuan gave a helpless laugh. “Sister Yun, this kind of buzz I can live without. I’m married—I don’t play CP.”
“Haha, not bad, not bad. Very upright of you,” Su Manyun teased.
Ning Xuan: “….”
Ning Xuan had no words.
The call ended. Food arrived. She picked at her plate absentmindedly, her mind filled with Yu Yazhi’s cold expression.
Sigh. What a headache.
At Lunchtime
Yu Yazhi had just finished her morning’s work and was heading downstairs for a meal when Meng Xi stood up from her desk.
“President Yu, shall we go together? I already reserved a table.”
Yu Yazhi nodded. “Alright.”
They walked side by side toward the elevator.
Ding!
The doors slid open, revealing several employees returning from lunch.
One woman was holding up her phone excitedly. “Wow! Look, Ning-bao was amazing in this week’s episode! She totally destroyed that Bai Meng.”
Ning-bao?
That was the nickname Ning Xuan’s fans used for her, wasn’t it?
Yu Yazhi’s brows furrowed at once. Bai Meng again?
Sensing her expression, Meng Xi coughed discreetly, signaling the employees to shut up.
But the woman had already looked up and spotted Yu Yazhi. Her face drained of color. “P-President Yu!”
The others all bowed their heads instantly, shuffling away from her as if distance could make them invisible.
Yu Yazhi gave a brief nod and said nothing. After all, it was lunch break.
Meng Xi quickly stepped forward with a smile. “President Yu, let’s go. Time to eat.”
The elevator emptied.
Just as Yu Yazhi was about to step in, she suddenly paused, pulled back, and said quietly to Meng Xi, “You go ahead. I just remembered some work I need to finish. Could you bring me a coffee later?”
Meng Xi: “……”
She watched Yu Yazhi turn back toward her office, and couldn’t shake the feeling that the reason for her sudden change of plans was Ning Xuan.
Soon, employees who had finished eating gathered again.
“Ning Xuan’s been improving so much lately.”
“Yeah, I feel like she really has a promising future.”
“Beautiful and fierce. I think it’s time to change the title of ‘Entertainment’s No.1 Beauty Alpha.’”
“Agreed! From now on, she’s Entertainment’s No.1 Strong Alpha! Ning-bao isn’t just a pretty face!”
Hearing those praises, Meng Xi turned, her gaze frosty.
Ning Xuan again. Just when I thought I could finally get some peace, here she comes back into the spotlight.
She clenched her jaw, appetite gone at the mere sound of that name.
As for Yu Yazhi, her mood wasn’t much better.
She strode back into her office, shut the door behind her, sat down at her desk, and opened her computer.
“Hmph. Let’s see what kind of humiliating mess that woman has gotten herself into this time.”
