After Becoming a Scummy Alpha, I Was Spoiled by a Sweet Omega - Chapter 26.3
She looked around at the spacious, bright rooms, the prime location, the stunning view, and nodded with satisfaction. Trust Yu Yazhi—when she spends, she spends big.
“Luoluo, pour me a glass of water, will you? I’m exhausted.”
“Got it, Xuan-jie.”
Zhao Luoluo answered, though she was still busy organizing the wardrobe.
Thankfully, she hadn’t moved all of Ning Xuan’s clothes to the villa. Otherwise, today would have been a nightmare.
Back when she first heard Ning Xuan was moving in with Yu Yazhi, she’d thought it unreliable.
Sure enough, less than two weeks later, Xuan-jie was back.
She hung Ning Xuan’s favorite clothes in the most visible spot for easy access, then sorted through the jewelry cabinet, putting away all the outdated pieces.
Back in this familiar apartment, Zhao Luoluo finally felt that her Xuan-jie was once again the dazzling, refined celebrity she knew.
At the villa, she had seemed too down-to-earth, like a goddess who had descended to the mortal realm and gotten her feet dirty.
But now—the goddess had returned. Tsk, tsk, how exciting.
What thrilled her even more was—Xuan-jie was really about to dive back into her career!
After tidying up, Zhao Luoluo cast a sweeping glance across her Xuan-jie’s reclaimed territory. Hands on her hips, she let out a satisfied smile.
Then she suddenly remembered Ning Xuan’s earlier words and hurried off to pour her some water.
“Xuan-jie, what about Orange? Now that you’re moving back here, should I bring it over for you?”
Orange?
Ning Xuan paused, then recalled—it was the Persian cat the original owner had raised.
She accepted the glass of water from Zhao Luoluo, thought for a moment, and shook her head. “No need. I’ll probably be really busy these days. Just keep it with you for now, sorry to trouble you. Once things settle down, I’ll take it back.”
“Alright.”
“Mm.”
As they were chatting, the shrill ring of a phone broke in.
【I’m head over heels,
My restless heart’s setting off fireworks,
My Cupid is screaming,
Hormones exploding at your arrival,
Head over heels.】
It was Ning Xuan’s phone.
She picked it up and saw the caller ID—someone from the villa. She frowned slightly. Why would Aunt Wu be calling her? Could it be that she was passing along a message from Yu Yazhi?
With that thought, she tapped to answer.
Aunt Wu’s anxious voice rushed through the receiver: “Miss Ning, do you know a Lawyer Zhang? She’s here asking for you, says you consulted her about divorce. Are you and Miss going to get divorced? Why? Our Miss”
Ning Xuan, in the middle of drinking, nearly spat the water out. “Divorce? I never said anything about di”
Before she could finish, she caught herself and glanced at Zhao Luoluo. The woman was smiling guiltily, her expression practically screaming I’m hiding something.
“Aunt Wu, hold on. Something came up here—I’ll explain later.”
She hung up, set the glass down, folded her arms across her chest, and leveled a look at Zhao Luoluo. “Well? Care to explain? What’s going on? What kind of stupid stunt did you pull behind my back?”
Zhao Luoluo: “…”
She shrank back onto the sofa, nervously twisting her fingers, then shuffled a bit farther away before letting out a sheepish laugh. “Xuan-jie, let me explain! This isn’t my fault. You mentioned wanting to look into marriage stuff the other day, so I told Sister Yun. You’re my bread and butter—I can’t just let you get taken advantage of, right?”
So then Su Manyun, not wanting her to suffer either, had arranged a lawyer for her?
After hearing her out, Ning Xuan pressed a hand to her forehead, elbow on her knee.
One bold enough to suggest, the other bold enough to act—unbelievable.
She immediately called Su Manyun for clarification.
What she heard was mostly what Zhao Luoluo had said—but not exactly.
Zhang Nan was Su Manyun’s friend. Yes, she was a divorce lawyer, but also a licensed counselor.
Su Manyun had indeed called her over, but not for divorce consultation—rather, to provide some emotional support.
“You’re in susceptibility period. Your emotions are unstable.”
“Marriage and divorce are no small matters. Listen to Lawyer Zhang’s advice—don’t waste my good intentions.”
“She’s efficient, too. Probably intrigued because you’re a celebrity.”
Su Manyun rambled on and on.
Ning Xuan wanted to cry but had no tears—so it was all just a misunderstanding. But now, how was she supposed to explain to Aunt Wu?
“Sister Yun, I’m not that fragile.”
She gave a half-laugh, half-sigh at her so-called kindness. “Honestly, right now I feel like I could pull a willow tree up by its roots.”
Su Manyun chuckled and dropped a barb: “Then why don’t you go pull Miss Yu instead?”
Ning Xuan: “…”
That felt oddly insulting.
With a sigh, she hung up and quickly called Aunt Wu back. Fortunately, the visitor had already left, which let her breathe a little easier.
“Aunt Wu, don’t worry—it was just a misunderstanding. I’m not getting divorced.”
At least, not yet.
Yu Yazhi still needed her as a shield, after all.
The thought of Yu Yazhi jolted her—she hadn’t told her she’d moved out yet.
How should she put it?
Cross-legged on the sofa, she mulled over her words, then sent her a WeChat message:
【Yazhi, I won’t be staying at the villa for the time being. Sister Yun said work will be getting busy, so it’s more convenient for me to stay at the apartment. Take care of yourself and don’t overwork.】
Yu Yazhi had just come out of a meeting that lasted over an hour.
Back in her office, she set down her files when her phone screen lit up.
She picked it up, pale slender fingers swiping across the screen.
It was a message from Ning Xuan.
Her expression froze as she read it: she’d moved out? Well, fine. Peace and quiet.
But though she thought that way, her chest didn’t feel lighter.
Instead, it was as if something inside had gotten stuck—heavy, uncomfortable.
She didn’t bother to probe why. Setting the phone aside, she buried herself in work, choosing not to reply.
Yet not two minutes later, her phone rang.
She almost ignored it, until she saw the call was from the villa. With a frown, she answered.
“Miss, thank goodness you picked up.”
Aunt Wu, after mulling it over, decided she had to tell her about Lawyer Zhang’s visit.
Even if Ning Xuan had insisted it was all a misunderstanding, she didn’t buy it. Miss deserved to know, to be prepared.
For the eldest daughter of the Yu family to have her spouse file for divorce first—if that ever got out, what would that do to her reputation?
And so, after Yu Yazhi finished listening, her beautiful face darkened, clouded with anger. Her hand clenched so tight the knuckles went pale as she forced her fury down.
“So what you’re saying is—her excuse about moving out was really just her wanting a divorce?”
