After Becoming a Scummy Alpha, I Was Spoiled by a Sweet Omega - Chapter 2
That single “wife” left the staff in the monitoring room dumbfounded.
There had always been rumors outside that President Yu and Miss Ning’s marriage was nothing more than a convenient arrangement. But now, with that intimate address, it didn’t look so simple.
Hearing Ning Xuan call her so affectionately, Yu Yazhi’s face grew even darker. This foolish woman—what on earth is she doing?
The air turned tense and suffocating.
Yu Yazhi shot Ning Xuan a cold glance but ignored her. Instead, she ordered the staff to delete the video, then instructed her assistant, Meng Xi:
“Hold a meeting immediately. Pass it down—this incident is not to be discussed. If anyone leaks anything to the media, I will pursue it to the very end.”
Meng Xi nodded. “Yes, ma’am.”
As she turned to leave, she passed Ning Xuan, giving her a polite smile and a respectful nod.
Courteous. Friendly.
And yet, there was something peculiar in that smile.
Ning Xuan forced herself to set the thought aside, watching Meng Xi’s back as she left.
Still, she couldn’t help but notice—the assistant was tall, slim, with smooth fair skin and delicate features. And Yu Yazhi clearly trusted her. So why didn’t Yu Yazhi just marry her in a flash and use her as a shield instead of me?
“You. What are you doing here?”
Yu Yazhi’s cold voice snapped her from her thoughts. Without waiting for a reply, Yu Yazhi left the monitoring room and returned to her office.
Ning Xuan followed quietly. She glanced around as she entered—the office was spacious and bright, minimalist yet grand, much like Yu Yazhi herself: cold, distant, utterly devoid of warmth.
“You still have something to say?”
Leaning back in her chair, one hand propping her forehead, Yu Yazhi fixed her with an expressionless stare.
Ning Xuan nodded, choosing her words carefully. “Yazhi, I didn’t cheat. It’s not what you saw. At most, I was the one being tempted. You can rest assured, I have never done anything to betray you. If you don’t believe me, you can check with the hospital—see if Bai Meng has been marked.”
Her eyes were sincere. She believed that as long as she explained clearly, she could finally shake off the reputation of being a scummy Alpha.
But Yu Yazhi wasn’t interested. She didn’t believe her either. Her refined brows arched slightly, her expression reading, Do you really take me for a fool?
“The video is right there, and you still dare deny it? Ning Xuan, not only are you shameless, you’re also cowardly—a scummy Alpha without the guts to own up!”
Her gaze was frigid, full of disdain. “And another thing, Ning Xuan—who you’ve marked or haven’t marked, I couldn’t care less. All I ask is that you remember this: as long as you bear the Yu family’s name, you are tied to me. So when you go around doing ridiculous things, clean up your own mess afterward. Don’t give anyone the chance to use it against me. Don’t disgust me.”
Ning Xuan: “…”
Disgust?
So she was already nailed to the pillar of shame for cheating?
No way. She refused to carry that blame!
She hurried to explain again: “Yu Yazhi, I know my reputation is bad, and I’m not very credible. But about Bai Meng—I really didn’t do it. If you don’t believe me, I can confront her directly.”
“No need. Like I said, I’m not interested.”
“Not interested in the truth? What are you interested in then—wronging me?”
Growing anxious, Ning Xuan took a step forward and pressed her hand down on Yu Yazhi’s shoulder, her voice rising. “You’re biased against me! If you despise me so much, if you’re so worried I’ll tarnish your reputation, then why keep me by your side? Why not just divorce me? Or, are you like the others, fooled by this face of mine?”
Her lips curved into a faint, mocking smile—light, almost frivolous, yet breathtakingly beautiful.
Yu Yazhi, however, remained unmoved.
Lowering her gaze to the long, slender fingers clutching her shoulder, her eyes darkened with restrained anger. She enunciated each word:
“Let. Go.”
Ning Xuan: “…”
The sheer force of her aura sent a shiver through Ning Xuan. Startled, she quickly withdrew her hand, her careless smile vanishing. Seeing the frost filling Yu Yazhi’s eyes, her heart trembled. Isn’t she supposed to be an Omega? How can she be more terrifying than an Alpha?
Yu Yazhi brushed her shoulder as though ridding herself of filth, her eyes full of contempt.
Ning Xuan’s grievance burst out. “You, you don’t have to bully me like this.”
She wasn’t a germ, but that dismissive gesture—though harmless—felt like the ultimate insult.
Yu Yazhi: “…”
Her brows furrowed as she looked at Ning Xuan. Was she pouting?
What’s going on? Did this woman take the wrong medicine?
Just then,
Knock, knock.
The sound of knuckles rapped on the door.
“Who is it?” Yu Yazhi asked.
“It’s me.”
The door pushed open, and Ning Xuan’s assistant, Zhao Luoluo, stepped in. Round-faced and lively, she smiled sweetly. “Hello, President Yu. I’m Zhao Luoluo, here to pick up Sister Xuan.”
Yu Yazhi gave a curt nod. “Good. Take her away.”
Zhao Luoluo and Ning Xuan: “…”
That impatient tone!
Ning Xuan sighed and waved at Zhao Luoluo.
“Luoluo, come help me.”
Seeing her standing stock-still, Zhao Luoluo hurried over to support her arm and asked softly,
“Xuan-jie, what’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing. I just stood too long, and my legs are a bit numb—”
Of course, Ning Xuan couldn’t bring herself to admit that her knees had gone weak because of the murderous glare Yu Yazhi had just thrown her way.
Unaware of the truth, Zhao Luoluo simply helped her out.
Yu Yazhi watched them leave, then pulled back her gaze, her mood inexplicably sour.
She rubbed her forehead and sat in silence for a long while, until her assistant Meng Xi returned.
“Any news from the hospital?”
The sudden question caught Meng Xi off guard. She quickly pulled out her phone and called the manager in charge.
“Yes, as for Miss Bai, make sure her lips are sealed. We can’t let her spout nonsense to the media.”
Hearing this, Yu Yazhi added, “Ask if Bai Meng was marked.”
She usually couldn’t care less about Ning Xuan and Bai Meng, yet the words slipped out before she realized it.
After a brief exchange, Meng Xi relayed the reply:
“The hospital confirmed Bai Meng wasn’t marked.”
Yu Yazhi froze. Not marked? So Ning Xuan hadn’t lied. She had wronged her and even lashed out with those harsh words?
A flicker of guilt rose in her chest, but the thought quickly soured. A dog can’t stop itself from eating filth. Just because Ning Xuan hadn’t taken the bait this time didn’t mean she had changed. Maybe she had only put on a show, knowing Yu Yazhi would learn the truth, trying to make her feel guilty and then take advantage later.
Forget it.
None of this had anything to do with her.
As long as the hotel remained untouched by Bai Meng’s scandal, that was all that mattered.
Even so, her brows stayed tightly furrowed.
When Meng Xi finished wrapping up the day’s affairs, she slipped into the role of chauffeur and drove Yu Yazhi home.
Glancing at her boss’s sour expression through the rearview mirror, she hesitated, then asked,
“President Yu, everything’s been handled. What’s still on your mind?”
Snapped out of her thoughts, Yu Yazhi replied flatly,
“Nothing. Just drive.”
But she was still thinking about Ning Xuan. Something about her behavior felt different—like things were slipping out of control.
“Wait. Take me to the Yu estate first.”
She worried that today’s events might be twisted by gossips and reach the old master’s ears.
Back when she married, he had told her to take responsibility for her own choices.
She couldn’t let him believe she couldn’t even manage her own marriage.
No matter what, she had to hold out until she inherited Yu Corporation.
Only then could she break free from this life—and divorce that woman, Ning Xuan.
Ning Xuan sneezed twice in a row.
Rubbing her nose, she muttered to herself,
“Someone must be talking about me.”
Zhao Luoluo chuckled, “Maybe it’s President Yu.”
Ning Xuan thought wryly: If it is her, it’s definitely something bad!
Just then, a WeChat notification popped up. Bai Meng had sent a message:
【If you want to know whether I’m okay, come and see for yourself.】
Still trying to flirt with her?
This Bai Meng really wasn’t giving up.
Ning Xuan sent back a mocking sticker: 【Heh.】
Her earlier inquiry about Bai Meng’s condition had been simple human decency. Since Bai Meng was clearly fine, there was no need to reply further. Relief washed over her. Yu Yazhi, as the hotel’s head, would’ve been the first to know anyway. She must also know whether or not anything improper had happened between them.
Ning Xuan’s mood lightened considerably.
Looking out at the dark night beyond the car window, she asked casually,
“Luoluo, how much longer until we get home?”
“This place is a bit far from the Lanting Apartments. Probably about—”
“Wait. I live in Lanting Apartments?”
Only then did Ning Xuan realize she was heading to the wrong place.
After their marriage, Yu Yazhi had gifted her a property worth thirty million as part of the dowry. Before long, Ning Xuan had claimed she was too busy with work and moved in there, living separately from Yu Yazhi. Their arrangement quickly became one of mutual avoidance and noninterference.
Quick on the uptake, Zhao Luoluo caught the hidden meaning and ventured,
“Xuan-jie, if you’re not going back to Lanting tonight… does that mean you want to return to President Yu’s place?”
Thinking about today’s misunderstanding, Ning Xuan blurted out without hesitation,
“Of course! I’m married—so naturally I’m going back to my wife’s home!”
Zhao Luoluo: “…”
Married woman. That was certainly a new way to put it.
But really, Xuan-jie, if you’re going to say that—maybe remember to wear your wedding ring first!
