After Becoming a Scummy Alpha, I Was Spoiled by a Sweet Omega - Chapter 17
Faced with the chaos of this little “Shura field” 2.0, Ning Xuan silently reminded herself to stay calm.
Yu Yazhi, with her long legs and imposing height, closed the distance in just two strides and came to stand directly in front of Bai Meng.
Even with Bai Meng’s celebrity aura, she was instantly overshadowed—utterly eclipsed—by Yu Yazhi.
But Bai Meng didn’t flinch. She gestured to the staff beside her to hold back, then lifted her chin to meet Yu Yazhi’s icy gaze. “Miss Yu, I’ve heard so much about you,” she said, extending her right hand in a show of friendliness.
It was impossible to deny—Yu Yazhi was stunning. Fair-skinned, long-legged, slender-waisted. Even among female stars, few could hold a candle to her. Only Ning Xuan’s face could truly match hers.
Yu Yazhi’s eyes were cool and unreadable. She ignored Bai Meng’s outstretched hand and said lightly, “Miss Bai”
Before she could finish, Ning Xuan cut in, her expression sharp and voice seething with anger:
“Miss Bai, you keep pestering me like this, shamelessly trying to interfere in my marriage—are you that sure I can’t do anything about you? This is my last warning. If you don’t stop, I’ll call the police. What you’re doing is harassment!”
Her voice was loud and her words sliced straight to the bone.
Bai Meng froze, stunned that Ning Xuan would say something so blunt, leaving her no room to save face.
Yu Yazhi, too, was taken aback.
She hadn’t planned to waste time on Bai Meng. But seeing her clinging to Ning Xuan, acting like she didn’t even exist, she’d wanted to put her in her place.
She hadn’t expected Ning Xuan to beat her to it.
After the initial shock, Bai Meng’s face flushed with embarrassment and humiliation. Her hands clenched into fists as her body trembled with suppressed rage.
Out of the corner of her eye, she caught Yu Yazhi’s poised, elegant stance and gritted her teeth, forcing herself to stay calm. Hmph, what are you so proud of? she thought, recalling Ning Xuan’s state at the hotel. A flicker of pity flashed across her eyes.
Maybe the couple’s “marital problems” weren’t about a third party at all—maybe Ning Xuan just couldn’t perform.
She’d seen the tabloid photos, too: the two of them snapped at a hospital, Ning Xuan bundled up from head to toe. Who knew what she was really there for?
Clinging to what she thought was Ning Xuan’s “little secret,” Bai Meng’s mood brightened. Her anger ebbed, and she even managed a smile.
“Miss Ning, I think you’ve misunderstood. I’m not here to harass you,” she said smoothly. “We just happened to meet—I thought it would be polite to invite you for afternoon tea.
“As it happens, I’ve also arranged to meet an investor. I heard you’re planning a career change, and I thought I could introduce you. We’re all in the same industry—no harm in getting acquainted.”
Her tone was measured, even sounding a little sincere.
In truth, she was simply trying to salvage what remained of her dignity.
Ning Xuan didn’t bother to expose her. She gave a cold laugh. “Miss Bai, you’re so fond of matchmaking—why not switch careers and become an agent?”
With that bit of sarcasm, she had no desire to linger. She grabbed Yu Yazhi’s hand and prepared to leave.
But Yu Yazhi coolly shook her off. Stepping forward, she looked down at Bai Meng from above, like a proud white crane.
“Miss Bai,” she said coldly, “do you really think Ning Xuan needs you to introduce her to resources while I’m standing right here? Don’t overestimate your importance. When your hand reaches too far, be careful it doesn’t get cut off.”
Then she turned away without another glance.
As for Ning Xuan, she didn’t even bother sparing her a look. If you’d known it’d come to this, why did you start it in the first place?
“Yazhi”
Ning Xuan hurried after her, reaching for her hand, but Yazhi shook her off again and again.
Bai Meng watched the scene, the sting of Yazhi’s threat and humiliation burning in her chest. She swore to herself: Yu Yazhi, just you wait. If I don’t sleep with Ning Xuan, I’m not Bai Meng!
Outside the restaurant, Zhao Luoluo was waiting by the car, her delicate little face like a peeled egg.
Lunch is over, she thought. Surely this plastic couple has upgraded to a silicone one by now.
But seeing the look on Yu Yazhi’s face as she walked out made her heart sink. No way. Did Sister Xuan manage to offend her again?
She glanced at Ning Xuan—head down, looking utterly dejected, like a rooster beaten in a cockfight.
She couldn’t fathom it. How does someone with a face that beautiful manage to turn a simple meal into a blood feud?
Sensing the tension between them, Zhao Luoluo pretended not to notice and greeted with a bright smile. “Good afternoon, Miss Yu.”
Yu Yazhi gave a curt nod and, without a word, bent down to get in the car.
Her face was cold. If Zhao Luoluo hadn’t been there, she wouldn’t have ridden in the same car as Ning Xuan at all.
On the way back to the Yu Group headquarters, Yu Yazhi sat in silence.
To Ning Xuan, it was the calm before the storm. The weather’s changing, and baby’s scared!
Her survival instinct finally overcame her fear. She clutched Yu Yazhi’s arm, trying to explain. “Yazhi, I don’t know why Bai Meng keeps clinging to me, but you have to believe me—I have nothing to do with her.”
Yu Yazhi still didn’t speak.
She was angry, yes, but not exactly at Ning Xuan.
She had known who Ning Xuan was from the start. Even when she’d heard about that so-called hotel rendezvous with Bai Meng, she’d been calmer than she was now.
But today—what had she done?
The moment she saw Bai Meng grabbing Ning Xuan’s wrist, her usual cold self-control had slipped. She’d almost spoken out.
“Miss Bai, stay away from Ning Xuan!”
The words had nearly left her mouth.
But Ning Xuan had beaten her to it.
So, was she angry at Ning Xuan?
No—she was angry at herself.
Clearly, she’d let this woman linger too long in her life.
Maybe letting her move in was a mistake from the start.
Ning Xuan, of course, had no idea what Yu Yazhi was thinking. She’d already tried her best to explain. This young lady can’t really expect a dramatic dog-blood scene where I kneel and beg for forgiveness, can she?
She was innocent!
Since transmigrating, she had never responded to Bai Meng’s advances. She’d rejected her every time!
She scratched her head in frustration and shot a pleading look at Zhao Luoluo. Help me out here. Aren’t you the one who’s good at talking?
Zhao Luoluo had indeed been bold enough to speak before—but that had been when the timing was right. Right now, opening her mouth would be suicide.
So she stayed out of it, giving Ning Xuan a helpless glance. You’re on your own. Good luck.
Then she focused on the road.
Ning Xuan, out of options, could only try to comfort Yazhi herself. But by the time the Yu Group building came into view, she still hadn’t figured out how.
She sighed inwardly. Forget it. I’m tired. Let it all burn.
Meng Xi had been busy with the PR department, handling that news story.
When she finished, she noticed Yu Yazhi still hadn’t returned and messaged her, learning that she’d gone to lunch with Ning Xuan.
The news surprised Meng Xi. Hearing that the two had eaten together only darkened her mood. What exactly is Ning Xuan trying to do?
She’d assumed Ning Xuan had married into the Yu family for the same reasons as any shallow, worldly person: vanity, money, status.
And in truth, she had—her behavior after the wedding had thoroughly disgusted Yu Yazhi.
But lately, Meng Xi had noticed a change: Yu Yazhi was looking at Ning Xuan with a little more patience.
It wasn’t a good sign.
It made her feel inexplicably restless.
She paced back and forth in front of the building, waiting. A notification came through: Yu Yazhi’s car was arriving soon.
Five minutes later, a black luxury sedan pulled up.
She rushed forward to open the door. “President Yu”
Yu Yazhi stepped out without so much as a glance at Ning Xuan and strode away.
Ning Xuan followed with a strained smile, looking more like she was about to cry. “Yazhi, don’t overwork yourself. Take care of your health.”
Yu Yazhi stopped, turned her head slightly, and said coldly:
“Ning Xuan, don’t think that just because we had one meal together everything between us is suddenly rosy and harmonious. And another thing—there’s someone extra in the house now. I don’t like it. Move out. Let’s go back to how things were before.”
