After Becoming a Scummy Alpha, I Was Spoiled by a Sweet Omega - Chapter 14
A girl in a bright yellow dress suddenly collapsed.
Her cheeks were flushed, breath shallow, forehead damp with sweat. Her crimson lips parted, letting out soft, shame-inducing whimpers.
“Who has an inhibitor?”
Someone beside her shouted.
Ning Xuan immediately pulled a strong inhibitor from her bag and rushed forward. “Here!”
The person took it, startled to see her—probably not expecting an Alpha like her to carry such a thing around.
“What are you waiting for?” Ning Xuan urged. “Hurry up and inject it!”
Snapped back to reality, the person quickly administered the shot.
After receiving the inhibitor, the girl gradually calmed down.
“Thank you.”
Her eyes shimmered with tears as she looked at Ning Xuan, looking fragile and pitiful.
Something clicked in Ning Xuan’s mind. She quickly got to her feet and backed away.
Wait a minute—did this girl go into heat just to seduce her?
The moment the thought crossed her mind, the glands at the back of her neck throbbed. Damn it, this cursed “universal heartthrob” setting!
She turned toward Yu Yazhi, and sure enough, that icy face made it clear just how displeased she was.
“Wife, it’s not what you think.”
She rushed to explain. “I carry this for you.”
Before the word prepared could leave her lips, Yu Yazhi covered her mouth, leaning close to whisper in her ear:
“You want everyone to know I use this stuff?”
An Alpha with a wife but still relying on inhibitors = wife is a mere decoration = the marriage isn’t real.
Realizing the implication, Ning Xuan quickly changed tack. “It’s my assistant’s. She must’ve packed it by mistake.”
Yu Yazhi: “…”
What a terrible excuse.
She released her with a frosty face and said only, “Let’s go.”
Ning Xuan grinned. “Alright.”
They hadn’t taken more than a few steps when a young woman from the crowd mustered her courage and stepped forward.
“Ning Xuan, I’m your fan! I’ve been following every episode of your new variety show. Could you please sign this for me?”
She had already thrust a crisp sheet of paper and a pen into Ning Xuan’s hands.
Ning Xuan couldn’t bring herself to refuse. Instinctively, she reached for the pen—only to realize her left hand was still firmly held by Yu Yazhi.
And it wasn’t just handholding—it felt like possession, like control.
Normal people linked fingers with gentleness and affection. But this young lady, was she raised on brute force?
Her fingers might have been slender and soft, but Ning Xuan swore, if she squeezed any harder, it’d feel like torture.
Ah, living with her was like living beside a tiger.
With a small smile at the fan, Ning Xuan leaned closer to Yu Yazhi’s ear and whispered, “Yazhi, let me sign this for her, okay?”
Her gaze flicked meaningfully at their clasped hands, waiting to be set free.
Yu Yazhi’s eyes turned sharp as she sized up the young staffer. She looked displeased, but in the end, she let go.
The girl had been waiting nervously. Ning Xuan quickly accepted the pen and scribbled her name, adding a tiny heart at the end in gratitude.
After all, fans were her future bread and butter.
The fan lit up as though she’d won the lottery. “Thank you, Ning Xuan! I’ll always support you!”
Her success stirred the crowd—soon, others swarmed forward with requests for autographs.
The once-quiet corridor descended into chaos.
Ning Xuan felt a bad premonition.
She glanced at Yu Yazhi—and sure enough, her wife’s expression had already darkened.
“Um, everyone, sorry,” Ning Xuan said quickly, turning on the charm. “I have to take my wife to lunch now. Don’t worry about autographs—I’ll ask my assistant to send them to all of you later. We’re all family here at Yu Corporation, so no one will be left out. It’s lunchtime, go get something to eat—don’t skip your meal.”
Her words hit the right note.
The employees slowly dispersed, touched by her thoughtfulness.
Ning Xuan exhaled in relief, thanked them, then all but dragged Yu Yazhi toward the elevator, looking very much like she was fleeing the scene.
Behind them, staff members couldn’t stop whispering:
“Ahhh, Ning Xuan is so sweet. How can she be this warm?”
“President Yu must’ve saved the galaxy in her past life to marry Ning Xuan.”
“What’s Ning Xuan’s new variety show called? Someone tell me—I need to watch it!”
And just like that, lunchtime chatter revolved entirely around Ning Xuan.
Meanwhile, Ning Xuan’s nerves were in knots. In my past life, did I destroy the galaxy instead? Because living with Yu Yazhi is like watching a weather forecast—her face changes every few minutes!
Inside the elevator, just as she was thinking this, Yu Yazhi’s cool voice cut in:
“Ning Xuan, how long do you plan to hold on? There’s no one here now.”
Ning Xuan blinked and realized—she was still gripping Yu Yazhi’s wrist.
“Uh, sorry.”
Flustered, she let go as if burned.
Yu Yazhi caught every flicker of her expression, and irritation pricked at her chest. So she can beam like sunshine with those strangers, but when it’s me, she looks like a startled fawn? Hmph, am I that terrifying?
“Ning Xuan, next time, try controlling that smile of yours.”
The words came out of nowhere.
Ning Xuan was confused. “Huh? Why?”
Yu Yazhi brushed aside a loose strand of hair. “No reason. You just looked like a peacock showing off.”
Ning Xuan: “…”
What the hell?
That was her professional smile, thank you very much!
She wanted to argue, but instead explained gently, “In situations like that, if I don’t smile, the media will write headlines like—‘Live-in daughter-in-law Ning Xuan pulls a long face at Yu Corporation, acting like a diva.’ That’d embarrass you, not me. I was thinking of the bigger picture.”
Miss Yu, did you already forget how you got burned by clickbait headlines this morning?
Of course, she didn’t say that part aloud.
Yu Yazhi gave a faint, mocking laugh. “So I should thank you?”
Ning Xuan chuckled sheepishly. “No need. Yazhi, we’re married. Helping you is the least I can do.”
Yu Yazhi: “…”
Married, huh. What an interesting word.
“Ding”
The elevator doors slid open.
Yu Yazhi reacted first. She grabbed Ning Xuan’s hand, lacing their fingers tightly, her expression instantly composed.
Sure enough, reporters were waiting downstairs, cameras flashing wildly the moment they appeared.
“Ning Xuan, was that really you in the photo with Miss Yu?”
“Miss Yu, are you pregnant?”
“Miss Yu, there are rumors Ning Xuan was secretly seeing actress Bai Meng, and then you were spotted with another woman. Is this revenge on your part?”
“Please answer, just one question.”
The reporters surged forward like a tidal wave, barely held back by security.
Hand in hand, the two women made their way toward the car.
Yu Yazhi, born to a wealthy family and always low-profile, clearly wasn’t used to the flashing cameras. She kept her head down, avoiding the blinding lights.
Noticing this, Ning Xuan instinctively raised her hand to shield her head from the glare.
“Thank you for your concern,” she said warmly to the reporters. “But Yazhi isn’t pregnant. And thank you all for your blessings. If we have good news, we’ll be sure to share it with you.”
It was that same dazzling smile Yu Yazhi had just criticized—brilliant as a peacock, as she guided her wife through the crowd.
Suddenly, Ning Xuan paused, as though struck by a thought. The corners of her lips curved in a helpless yet radiant smile.
“Oh, and by the way—those friends who snapped photos of us, could you please do me a favor and touch them up a little before posting? Otherwise, standing next to my wife, I’ll just look insecure.”
As she spoke, she turned to look at Yu Yazhi, eyes full of affection. The hand shielding her forehead drifted down, settling gently on her hair.
Yu Yazhi: “…”
The touch was tender, almost like one might pet a beloved animal. Irritation prickled at her scalp.
Enough already—take your hand off first!
