In Tingfeng Village, Chu Lanci leads a simple life teaching and selling flowers while also performing manual labor for the Qianshan Sect. His daily task is to deliver meals to the forbidden area in the back mountains. He has always been hardworking and meticulous, longing for the day he can enter Qianshan, awaken his spiritual roots, and become an inner-sect disciple.

Xie Zhuo had five disciples before adding Chu Lanci to their ranks. Every month during the master-disciple meetings, the other disciples are only permitted a brief moment with him. Only the meeting with Chu Lanci lasts for dozens of hours. They spend an hour hugging and an hour kissing; only after these activities does the teaching begin.
Chu Lanci is quite slow, and he requires several months just to learn basic spiritual formulas. Xie Zhuo teaches every single lesson with painstaking detail. Everyone in Qianshan thinks to themselves that he is, after all, the “Master’s Wife.” He is both the disciple and the spouse.
