Chapter 8: “Sheng Ruxi, Soften Your Mouth.”
In the middle of the night, Jian Jixing was suddenly awakened by a weight pressing down on her. Her sleep quality had always been mediocre, but for some reason, Sheng Ruxi had migrated to her side of the bed. Her head was tilted, and her arm was draped over Jian Jixing as if trying to pull her into a hug.
Likely exhausted from the day’s activities, she had let her guard down and was actually sleeping right next to her.
With her eyes closed, Sheng Ruxi looked remarkably well-behaved, like an exquisite yet youthful porcelain doll. Because she had cried before sleeping, her eyelids were still slightly red. Her skin was soft and cool, and the thin quilt covering her body looked like ripples spreading across a warm, tranquil lake.
Jian Jixing watched her for a while, suddenly feeling a pang of regret. Why can’t she be like this when she’s awake?
Sheng Ruxi’s soothing effect on her was miraculous; this one encounter was enough to let her pass through her rut smoothly. In truth, Jian Jixing wanted more, but Sheng Ruxi couldn’t take any more toward the end. This time, the sheets didn’t need changing, but the desk definitely needed a deep clean.
She suddenly remembered Sheng Ruxi’s custom “nudge” suffix: 【gave you a peck on the face and said “please, please”】
“Peck”? What kind of action was that? How did that brain of hers come up with such a word?
Jian Jixing looked down and suppressed the urge to actually perform a “peck.” Instead, she just pulled the quilt up and tucked Sheng Ruxi in tightly.
…
When Sheng Ruxi woke up again, the space beside her was already empty. She didn’t even know when Jian Jixing had left. She checked her phone—Jian Jixing had left without leaving a single message.
Despicable. Using me and running away.
This time, Sheng Ruxi didn’t just have a sore waist; her legs were so weak she didn’t want to move a muscle. It was all Jian Jixing’s fault. During the latter half, Jian Jixing hadn’t let her down once, keeping her right there at that desk—
The “dew” had been torrential, winding along the wood grain of the desk. Sheng Ruxi remembered clearly that Chu Wu’s livestream was right in front of her, accompanied by the host’s voice explaining obscure scientific facts.
She never wanted to see that desk again. Or that dress.
At the time, the collar of her dress had slipped down loosely, and the hem was a disaster. Meanwhile, Jian Jixing’s clothes remained perfectly intact, as if nothing had happened, her aura blending oddly with the rigorous, ascetic atmosphere of the study.
Sheng Ruxi truly hated that “steady” look of hers. Why was she the only one left in a mess, looking completely drowned in lust?
She didn’t even know when Chu Wu’s livestream ended. Her dress was ruined, the fluffy skirt crumpled and spread across the desk by that jerk. The scalding body heat and kisses had only fallen around her scent gland. Sheng Ruxi had been trembling non-stop, and at one point, she actually wondered:
Why doesn’t Jian Jixing kiss me?
The fragments of memory were broken. Jian Jixing had bitten her so hard this time, with such strength. Sheng Ruxi’s crying had been intermittent, sometimes turning into dissatisfaction when Jian Jixing stopped. She was like a cloud in Jian Jixing’s hands, kneaded at will… falling heavily, then being thrust back to the highest peak.
Tears had flowed freely onto Jian Jixing’s already wet fingertips. Sheng Ruxi truly felt this person was wicked.
She had no strength left; by the end, Jian Jixing was supporting her entirely, controlling everything. Sheng Ruxi didn’t even have the energy to resist, simply ordering Jian Jixing to carry her to the bathroom to wash up.
Jian Jixing had held her on the edge of the sink, facing her toward the mirror, finally telling her the reason for everything today.
“Don’t mention another Alpha’s name when your Alpha is in their rut,” Jian Jixing said. “Even if that person is Chu Wu.”
Sheng Ruxi: “…Madman! Madman, madman, madman! You aren’t my Alpha—”
She was pressed against the mirror, her snow-white skin squeezed by the cold surface, her unspoken words turning into whimpers.
“Sheng Ruxi, soften your mouth,” Jian Jixing had whispered, leaning down slowly, her breath grazing her inch by inch. “I’m not dead yet. Don’t try to provoke me at a time like this.”
Jian Jixing’s spreading pheromones had nearly set her on fire. Remembering the price she had paid for being stubborn two months ago, Sheng Ruxi didn’t dare say another word.
Waking up to find no Jian Jixing and not even a note after being “eaten clean” made Sheng Ruxi very unhappy. She sulked in bed for a while before finally getting up.
Going to the kitchen for water, she saw a sticky note left by Jian Jixing: 【Chu Wu said she has no plans to get married for now. I asked for you yesterday. You’re welcome. :)】
What a sarcastic tone. What a “shrew-like” smiley face. It was infuriating.
Turning around, she saw a small mountain of gift boxes on the sofa. There were several of them. Jian Jixing had already prepared the gifts for her—attached was another note saying that since her brother was back but they hadn’t gone home, a gesture had to be sent. Sheng Ruxi just needed to inspect them and have someone deliver them.
She opened the largest box at the bottom. Inside was a high-end couture gown that Sheng Ruxi had once casually mentioned was nice. On top of it was a card from Jian Jixing: 【Apology gift.】
This person… Yesterday she complained that Jian Jixing ruined her dress. Putting aside how she acted with her, Jian Jixing’s social etiquette was flawless. In daily life, Jian Jixing was old-fashioned and steady, and her handwriting was beautiful. She was relaxed and witty with others—possessing what people called an “interesting soul.”
Being married to such a person should have been a wonderful thing. Unfortunately, they didn’t like each other.
…
Meanwhile, Jian Jixing was in the VIP lounge waiting for her private flight. Originally scheduled for 9:00 AM, it was delayed until 11:00 due to weather.
She pulled out her phone and scrolled idly before closing her eyes to rest. Strange. Sheng Ruxi should be up by now, yet there was no news—not even a message cursing her out. Had she not seen the apology gift? Unlikely.
Someone came to lead her to boarding. Jian Jixing put her phone away and stopped thinking about it. This destination was far; after reaching the Tibetan region, she still had a three-hour drive to the final location. She wasn’t alone; she had brought a small filming crew. If they found material, they’d shoot; if not, it was a team-building trip.
…
After finishing a commercial shoot, Sheng Ruxi was almost done packing in the dressing room. She had a brand event in the CBD tonight and needed to prepare early.
Zhou Mei rushed in from outside, stopping Sheng Ruxi: “You can’t leave. Don’t go out.”
She anxiously showed her phone to Sheng Ruxi: “What happened? Didn’t Director Jian go there specifically for you last time? How did she get linked to Meng Zhao?”
This happened just half an hour ago. It wasn’t a leak from the paparazzi. Meng Zhao had posted a photo of her coffee and dessert on her social media. Fans recognized a tiny bit of a sleeve in the corner as the outfit she wore on set yesterday.
【Sister, you’re so beautiful I’m dying! Is this the afternoon tea you prepared for the crew? So pretty!!】
Meng Zhao replied with a shy emoji and a “shh”: 【No, I can’t take the credit. This was bought by Director Jian when she came to visit the set yesterday~】
Those two emojis were incredibly subtle. Immediately, a staff member from yesterday couldn’t help but chime in: 【Ahhh, I can’t stay quiet! Director Jian was so, so, so generous yesterday! She brought a whole truck for the visit for Meng Zhao and even came to the scene to coach her. The ‘face’ (prestige) was through the roof.】
What “face”? If getting your own face slapped counted as prestige, then they were truly masochists.
But the fans were restless. Combined with the photo of Meng Zhao and the motorcycle, the scandal between Jian Jixing and Meng Zhao climbed the trending charts. Many fans even tagged Jian Jixing: Get married! Director Jian has finally found the leading lady of her life!
Sheng Ruxi: “…” Jian Jixing’s life has been scripted so clearly by others.
She idly toyed with the tassel of her earring, her voice cold: “What does her scandal have to do with me?”
The calmer Sheng Ruxi was, the more Zhou Mei worried. “That’s the problem. Our fans have joined in too, telling Director Jian to hurry up and get married so that you can have a ‘Happy Ending’ with your heart’s true desire. With three fanbases involved, the heat is on another level.”
All three fanbases were happy; the years-long “White Moonlight” struggle was finally ending.
Zhou Mei closed her eyes: “Meng Zhao just finished a shoot and is currently surrounded by paparazzi downstairs. But that’s not the point. Director Jian should be… just finishing her rut with you, right? Alphas are extremely possessive during this period. I suggest you don’t let Director Jian see fans calling for you and Professor Chu to live happily ever after.”
Sheng Ruxi’s inner thighs, which she had almost stopped noticing, began to ache again. her fingers stiffened. She looked away and fanned herself lightly.
“Wherever there is news about Director Jian, reporters will inevitably ask you,” Zhou Mei said gloomily. “If they can capture even one eye-roll from you without an answer, those tabloids will have met their quota for the month.”
“We haven’t been able to reach Director Jian. Meanwhile, it’s great for Meng Zhao—she gets the hype without having to do any PR,” Zhou Mei coaxed her softly. “Of course, if you just speak up, would Director Jian really stay mad? It’s best not to let the company step in; it’s better for an individual to clarify.”
Meng Zhao’s status was nowhere near theirs, but the company was currently pushing her with everything they had. Given Jian Jixing’s status, if she dared to speak, Meng Zhao would never dare to act out again.
Sheng Ruxi took a deep breath and opened her chat with [Vixen/Shrew]. “Forward that photo of Meng Zhao to me.”
Zhou Mei breathed a sigh of relief, knowing Sheng Ruxi had agreed to handle it. As long as the couple communicated, Jian Jixing could just issue a clarification, spend some money to take down the trending search, and everyone’s dignity would be preserved.
Sheng Ruxi adjusted her skirt and clicked her tongue: “Get that dress out. I’ll wear it this afternoon.”
Zhou Mei immediately understood she meant the one Jian Jixing sent: “Good, good. Talk to Director Jian first.”
Sheng Ruxi’s fingers flew across the screen.
【Jian Jixing, look at your scandal!】 【Do you know what it means to maintain absolute loyalty during the subsistence of a marriage?】 【For a few scraps of trash outside?】 【Your marriage is in jeopardy.】 【This time, definitely—】 【I won’t be coaxed back!!!】 [Image]
Sheng Ruxi was very satisfied with her exclamation marks; they made the situation look very serious. She happily added a closing sentence: 【Think about it yourself. /Smile】
Perfect. High-cold yet steady, lively without looking like a tantrum. As long as she got angry first, Jian Jixing wouldn’t be able to stay mad at her and would have to give in.
The image she sent was the afternoon tea photo Meng Zhao had posted.
…
Meanwhile, Jian Jixing was on a plane experiencing turbulence. Flying over the mountains, even private jet signals were obstructed. Her phone received the messages intermittently.
The first one she saw was: 【Do you know what it means to maintain absolute loyalty during the subsistence of a marriage?】
Jian Jixing replied in confusion: 【You can talk to me about that when you stop calling out “Wuwu” so much.】
A few minutes later, she received the second part: [Image] 【Your marriage is in jeopardy.】
Wasn’t that just the afternoon tea she sent during the set visit? But Jian Jixing recognized that the clothes weren’t Sheng Ruxi’s. If she wanted more, she could have just said so. Why the huge temper? Jian Jixing found it bizarre, but knowing that this “little ancestor” tended to make mountains out of molehills, she patiently replied.
【I’ll just order another set for you.】
Little Green Bean: 【Think about it yourself. /Smile】
Seeing that smiley face Sheng Ruxi sent, Jian Jixing felt a phantom ache in her teeth. Needs a lesson, doesn’t she?
Although Alphas had a bit more patience for their Omegas after marking, it was only a bit.
Jian Jixing replied in kind: 【Don’t throw a tantrum. /Smile】
Sheng Ruxi received three messages in a row. None of them were what she wanted to see. Especially that mirrored “little yellow bean” smiley face—it set her off instantly.
She couldn’t wait a second longer. Sheng Ruxi dialed the number immediately.
