- Chapter 1 - Senior Sister X Junior Sister
Dong… Dong..
On Qingyang Mountain, the awakening bell tolled continuously.
The sky, usually hidden by a sea of clouds, was now exposed. A dazzling golden light poured through the gaps in the clouds, sparkling brilliantly as it hit the water’s surface.
The ethereal white mist gradually dispersed. As the view cleared, a woman appeared suspended above the water. Faint blue light ebbed and flowed around her, enveloping her entire form.
A silver fish suddenly leaped from the crystalline water, sending a spray toward the woman. However, the droplets froze mid-air just before reaching her.
Su Mi slowly opened her eyes. She reached out toward the suspended beads of water, which began to glide following the motion of her hand.
Sunlight filtered through the mist, landing on her brow. Beneath thick, raven lashes were eyes as clear as autumn waters eyes that held a touch of cool detachment and nobility when raised.
[Welcome to the Quick Transmigration System. Detecting world status and integration progress… Please wait]
Su Mi scanned her surroundings. She had been in this world for several days, spending the time integrating with and adapting to this body that shared her name. Now, it seemed she had succeeded.
Half a month ago, during graduation season, Su Mi had joined the Special Missions Administration Bureau through recruitment.
The myriad worlds in the universe were created by the Primordial God, and many were “book worlds” based on novels. However, as time passed, the central figures of some worlds generated abnormal energy after reaching their endings energy powerful enough to endanger other worlds. Thus, the Administration Bureau was established as an official department to “cleanse” and correct these small worlds.
The job involved entering these worlds after accepting a system mission to divert the path of certain characters and events while ensuring the world’s safe operation. Upon completion, employees received generous bonuses and ratings.
Su Mi had only received two weeks of emergency training, but due to staff shortages, she had been thrust into early induction.
Her assigned mission: Save the female lead of a “torture novel.” During her days of physical integration, she had already memorized the files provided by the system.
The female lead of this cultivation world was named Wanqi Yue. She studied the way of the sword under the Vice Sect Leader of Qingyang Mountain and was the sect’s beloved “Little Junior Sister.” Su Mi’s current identity was the Eldest Disciple of the Sect Leader the female lead’s Senior Sister.
Wanqi Yue was naturally gifted with an outstanding spiritual root, a standout among her peers with a brilliant future. However, that future was ruined by a twisted romance.
In the original plot, Wanqi Yue met a man named Yue Qianzhou during a trial down the mountain. Their meeting was a classic “hero saving the beauty,” leading them to travel together. The innocent female lead developed feelings for the man who pampered her, unaware he was a notorious demonic cultivator.
Their entire encounter was orchestrated. He approached her solely to steal her Fire Spirit Core to offer it to his “true love,” who had suffered a backlash while breaking through her cultivation realm. He treated the female lead well only to strengthen her golden core, making the “medicine” more effective.
Blindly deceived by sweet words, Wanqi Yue eventually broke ties with her sect for him when his identity was exposed. Her devotion was rewarded with the theft of her spirit core, followed by physical and mental torture. It was only when she was on the verge of death that the demonic cultivator “realized” his feelings, but it was too late.
Even after death, her soul lingered. She watched the male lead go mad with grief, eventually attacking Qingyang Mountain when they couldn’t resurrect her. She watched her respected teachers and fellow disciples fall one by one until someone finally took the demon down with them in a mutual destruction.
Driven to hysteria by the sight of her home destroyed, her intense hatred and regret shook the very foundations of the world. The Administration Bureau stepped in, rewound the timeline, and sent an employee to intervene.
Su Mi’s task: Prevent the deep bond between the leads, help the female lead avoid her tragic end, and ensure she finds true happiness.
After reading the plot, Su Mi only wanted to know who wrote such a script so she could drag them in to clean up their own mess.
[World model loaded…] [Hello, Employee Su Mi. I am your interface system, 2333.]
“Why is there only detailed info on the female lead? Where is the male lead’s data?” Su Mi asked, feeling the briefing was incomplete.
[In this world, only the female lead is designated as the core character.]
“What is the definition of ‘happiness’ for this mission? Does it just mean making her happy?” Su Mi, only half-trained, was still figuring out mission interpretations.
[The employee code has only one rule: “Stabilize the world.” The definition of happiness is not limited; you may interpret it as you see fit.]
Su Mi frowned slightly, deep in thought.
[Information confirmed. Body integration: 100%. Please select your companion system to begin.]
Su Mi tapped the panel and chose a black, fluffy creature with glowing amber eyes. It hopped onto her shoulder.
“I’ll call you Coal Ball,” Su Mi said.
[Mission Initiated. Difficulty: Easy. Monitoring… The female lead is about to trigger a pivotal plot point with the male lead. Please proceed immediately.]
According to the plot, the female lead would be “accidentally” saved by the male lead during a trial.
Su Mi stood up, the blue light sinking into her body. She tested the spiritual power flowing through her veins. With a flick of her finger, she condensed the spray of water into a transparent talisman. She was a Talisman Cultivator.
I’ve mastered it, she thought.
[Master, what is your plan?]
Su Mi looked toward the clouds, her voice cool: “I’m going to snatch her first.”
Under a crescent moon, a wedding procession moved silently down a desolate path. A bridal sedan swayed slightly, revealing a flash of red silk and a pair of limp, delicate hands.
The procession stopped at a lake. Across the water stood a jagged peak shrouded in unnatural darkness. A boat draped in twisted red silk waited at the shore.
“Hurry, move faster!” a man whispered, sweating. “I’m afraid of missing the auspicious hour.”
Four men carried the sedan onto the deck and fled as if for their lives. A yellow lantern on the prow flickered to life. The men knelt, trembling.
“Lord of the Mountain, this is the bride. Please protect our peace.”
The boat began to move across the water on its own.
Inside the sedan, Wanqi Yue woke up. Her head was heavy, and she felt nauseous from the swaying. As her vision cleared, she saw nothing but dark red.
She tried to sit up but found her body weak and her hands bound. She bit her lip; the pain helped clear the fog. She remembered drinking tea at an inn… it must have been drugged.
She struggled out of the sedan onto the deck. The boat was in the middle of the lake, surrounded by an eerie, infinite silence. She tried to circulate her spiritual energy, but a sharp pain stabbed through her meridians.
Suddenly, thick dark clouds swallowed the moon. A mass of demonic mist surged toward her, circling the sedan like a predator inspecting its prey.
“Who’s there?!” Wanqi Yue cried out. Without her powers, she could only clumsily dodge the lunging mist. She tripped, falling onto the deck, trapped by her bound hands.
The mist expanded, preparing to swallow her whole.
Just as despair set in, a piercing white light cut through the darkness. Wanqi Yue squinted. The light tore through the demonic mist like a blade through silk, causing the dark energy to shriek and scatter.
A figure in a water blue dress descended from the sky, her toes landing lightly on the deck. A layer of frost instantly bloomed across the wood where she stood.
Wanqi Yue froze, staring at the back of the woman who had appeared out of nowhere.
The ropes at her wrists suddenly snapped, falling away.
Su Mi turned her head slightly, her features ethereal and cold under the dim light. She reached out a hand toward Wanqi Yue, her body glowing with a faint, divine luster.
“Get up.”
