A Loyal Scumbag-A Who Became the Wife of the Goddess - Chapter 6
The orange in the dish was peeled so smoothly that even the white pith had been meticulously removed.
Shen Zhixi couldn’t help but wonder how Chi Lengzhao knew she loved oranges but disliked the white pith. She had never mentioned it to her. In their nearly four-year marriage in her previous life, she never uttered a word about it, and in this life, she hadn’t mentioned it either.
Not only did Chi Lengzhao not know, but even Huazi remained unaware.
Shen Zhixi picked up the perfectly peeled orange, examining it carefully under the light as if trying to see through it. The segments were a beautiful, vibrant orange, plump and tempting.
After a long pause, she let out a cold scoff and casually tossed the orange into the trash.
Chi Lengzhao returned to her hospital room and flopped onto her pillow, mentally reviewing the original book’s plot.
Sapphire necklace?
She didn’t recall this plot point. After all, the original character was merely cannon fodder with minimal screen time, so the book never mentioned her owning a sapphire necklace.
But since Shen Zhixi had explicitly mentioned it, that meant it must exist.
It was likely a valuable piece, perhaps something akin to the Ocean Star sapphire.
Chi Lengzhao frowned deeply, taking another large gulp of her milk tea through the straw. Suddenly, she remembered a detail from the book: the original character had a delicate Brocade Box hidden in a secret compartment in her basement. The book never specified what was inside the box, but it was highly probable that it contained the sapphire necklace.
Chi Lengzhao called out to Butler Zhou.
Butler Zhou immediately pushed the door open. “Miss?”
“Discharge me tomorrow. I want to go home.”
Butler Zhou stared at the bandages on her head and cautiously suggested, “Miss, the doctor said you need to stay five days before the bandages can be removed. Perhaps you should wait a few more days before leaving the hospital.”
Five days? Chi Lengzhao gently touched the bandages on her head, almost forgetting she was still a patient. Going out looking like this would be embarrassing; everyone would know she was recovering from an injury.
Chi Lengzhao nodded. “I’ll go home tomorrow. Arrange it.”
“Very well, Miss. I’ll have the driver come pick you up.”
Chi Lengzhao let out a long sigh. She planned to return home tomorrow and search the basement—specifically, to find that hidden compartment.
Her phone vibrated with a slight tremor.
Chi Lengzhao picked it up and saw it was a message from that four-person group chat.
Holy shit! Zhao, I heard you got hospitalized!
Zhao, are you okay?
Damn, I was planning to ask you to take your sister-in-law out for some fun tonight.
You got hospitalized in one night! Impressive! You sure know how to party!
Chi Lengzhao now remembered the other three people in the group.
There was Jiang Han, nicknamed “The Cultured One.” Her father was utterly illiterate and uncultured, but he struck it rich in real estate. He wanted his children to be educated and refined, so he gave his daughter a name that meant “refined.” Unfortunately, Jiang Han inherited her father’s mind and was just as clueless when it came to academics.
Then there was Xue Xingyu, nicknamed Flat Peach Xue. The reason for the nickname was simple: her face was wide and flat, resembling a flat peach. Among the three mischievous friends, she was considered the one with a shred of conscience.
Why say that? Because while other wealthy young ladies swapped girlfriends as casually as they changed clothes, Xue Xingyu was the only one who was constantly dumped. She wasn’t being dumped; she was on her way to being dumped.
Finally, there was Shi Xin, nicknamed San Jin in the group chat. Chi Lengzhao believed she was the most vile and despicable member of their “Vile Foursome.”
Shi Xin was behind most of the original body’s misdeeds. She was the one who introduced her to smoking, took her to bars to pick up Omegas, taught her to drug Shen Zhixi, leaked Shen Zhixi’s scandalous photos, and ultimately betrayed her when she tried to turn her life around after being kicked out.
If the original body was a tenfold scum, then Shi Xin was a hundredfold villain.
After a moment’s thought, Chi Lengzhao replied, “I’m doing well, thank you for your concern.”
[ Have Class: ] “Holy shit! Are you fucking brain-damaged? Being this polite?”
[ Flat Peach Xue: ] “That’s exactly what happened to her brain.” Followed by a wild laughing emoji.
[ Have Class: ] “If she can talk, she must be mostly healed. Come out and play! Tonight’s the night!”
[ Flat Peach Xue: ] “San Jin said he’ll introduce us to some world-class beauties!”
[ Chi Lengzhao: ] “I’m not going out. You guys have fun.”
[ Have Class: ] “Holy shit, something’s off with you, Cold Beauty.”
Cold Beauty?!
Chi Lengzhao nearly spat out her milk tea.
Forgot to mention: Chi Lengzhao’s nickname was “Cold Beauty.” She might be a scumbag, but her looks were undeniably stunning—tall, with long, straight black hair, giving off an icy yet alluring aura. At bars, many bottoms would practically throw money at her just to get a look.
[ Flat Peach Xue: ] “Zhao, are you still in the hospital? Should we come visit?”
Chi Lengzhao thought, Please don’t come! I have no idea how I’d entertain you three.
[ Chi Lengzhao: ] “No need. It’s just a minor injury. Don’t trouble yourselves.”
[ Have Class: ] “Holy shit, something’s seriously off! You’re being way too polite!”
[ Flat Peach Xue: ] “Exactly! Zhao, we don’t need formalities between us. Formalities mean we’re strangers!”
Chi Lengzhao took a deep breath. “All of you, shut the fuck up! Stop disturbing my rest!”
The group fell silent for three seconds.
Younihan: “Still the same old Zhao.”
Flat Peach Xue: “Then I’ll come visit you in a couple of days, Hanzi and I.”
Just then, San Jin, who had been quiet until now, asked, “Zhao, you haven’t really been taken hostage, have you?”
Chi Lengzhao froze, her brow furrowing.
A second message quickly followed:
“The number one Omega in Haibin is still the number one Omega. He’s got you wrapped around his little finger after just one night!”
Then a third:
“Don’t tell me you’ve gone soft. You’re too scared to even come out and play now?”
Chi Lengzhao glared at her phone screen, her eyes filled with scornful mockery.
Trying to provoke me? Do you think I’m that gullible?
[Chi Lengzhao: “I’m married now, so of course I have to listen to my wife.”]
[Younihan: “What?!”]
[Flat Peach Xue: “Huh?!”]
[San Jin: “You’re actually serious?!”]
Chi Lengzhao: “I’m a good A [Alpha]. Good A’s stay by their wives’ sides.”
