A Guide to Raising the Straight Long Aotian - Chapter 6
“Is that so? Then how does Azui intend to repay his Master?”
Yun Qi froze for a second upon hearing Wen Zui’s words, but he quickly smiled and asked in return.
“Ah,” Wen Zui uttered.
He clearly had not thought about the matter of repayment. Against an omnipotent snake demon—an ancient cultivator, what could he possibly possess that Yun Qi would value? Moreover, he knew next to nothing about Yun Qi; he did not even know which characters were used to write his name!
Thinking of this, the last traces of Wen Zui’s guilt vanished without a trace. He huffed twice and muttered under his breath, “You have not even taught me a single spell yet and you are already asking for payment. I suspect your immortal sect might not be a reputable or orthodox one, Master.”
“Haste makes waste,” Yun Qi gave a light chuckle and added, “Buy a plane ticket. Once you have finished moving, we are going to Yun City.”
“Really!” Wen Zui’s face split into a wide grin. He hurriedly said his goodbyes to Zhao Xian and Uncle Zhang, then turned and left.
That evening, Wen Zui successfully opened the door to his new home, smiling so broadly his teeth were showing and his eyes were crinkled shut. He was busy transferring money to Pei Jingqiao on his phone while taking photos to show her, completely immersed in happiness.
Soon, the phone rang. A sharp female voice violently attacked Wen Zui’s eardrums, sounding as if she wanted to burst out of the phone.
“Wen Zui! Where did you get this money? You did not join a pyramid scheme, did you? What kind of gang gives you a house for free?”
“No, no! Sister Jingqiao, do not talk nonsense. Anyway, just take the money. Do not worry about me!”
Yun Qi watched Wen Zui make the call in silence, inwardly marveling that the alternative “spells” of this era were quite interesting.
“System, you seem to be from a higher level of civilization?”
“Of course! No one in this era can crack my code, including you.” The little silver ball bounced happily on Yun Qi’s head, only to discover in horror that it could not move.
“Oh? Is that so?” Yun Qi smiled faintly and released his constraint on the CP-Breaking System.
“Host! How did you do that? This is impossible!” The System’s voice was filled with shock. If it had a jaw, it would certainly be dislocated right now.
The little snake flicked its tongue lazily and did not answer the System’s question directly. “I thought the reason you chose me was because of my strength. Now it seems that might not be the case, hmm?”
The System’s floating body froze instantly, and it vanished immediately out of guilt. If it told the Host that the reason it chose him was because he was a thousand-year-old virgin, it felt it would definitely die a miserable death. But what could be done? A virgin is the best remedy against a stallion! Otherwise, how could Yun Qi be so powerful as to stop the romantic interests of two Dragon Aotian protagonists at once?
The more the CP-Breaking System thought about it, the more it felt its decision was exquisite. It began to fantasize about how glorious its path to upgrading would be after the mission was completed.
Knock, knock, knock.
A slow, heavy knocking sound suddenly rang out, drawing both Yun Qi and Wen Zui’s attention to the door.
“They found this place? Is it someone from the Green Dragon Gang?” Wen Zui muttered as he opened the door. What met his eyes was not the expected group of thugs, but a tearful Liu Ruoling. Her eyes were red like a little rabbit’s, and she threw herself directly into Wen Zui’s arms.
“Ruoling? What is wrong?”
“Azui, I am so upset.” Liu Ruoling was crying so hard she could not provide any useful information. Just as Wen Zui was becoming anxious and confused, a man in black appeared in his line of sight, dragging a man with yellow hair by his hair.
“Young Master Wen, when we found Shi Qin, who is this yellow-haired man, he was in Miss Liu’s bun shop.”
Hearing this, Wen Zui’s eyes widened. His gaze lingered briefly on Liu Ruoling’s disheveled coat before shifting to Shi Qin’s bruised and swollen face. A wave of lingering fear washed over him. Wen Zui first kicked Shi Qin in the abdomen, and seeing him spit out more blood, he then gently patted the back of Liu Ruoling’s head, tenderly comforting her and telling her not to be afraid because he was there.
“Thank you. If the Green Dragon Gang has any difficulties in the future, feel free to come to me.” Wen Zui said this with genuine sincerity, far more heartfelt than the perfunctory thanks he gave when he received the house.
However, the man in black wore an expression that was hard to describe. “Young Master Wen, actually, we did not do much. Miss Liu here is the one who beat Shi Qin into this state.”
“What!” Wen Zui felt as if something was wrong with his ears. He looked at the pitiably crying Liu Ruoling in his arms, unable to associate her with the “Miss Liu” the man in black was describing.
Liu Ruoling wiped her tears on Wen Zui’s sleeve and sobbed, “I was so scared! I was kneading dough in the kitchen! This yellow-haired man suddenly rushed in front of me, and I accidentally beat him like this with a rolling pin.”
“And I accidentally kicked him a few times.”
“He is crippled,” Yun Qi silently added in Wen Zui’s mind.
For a moment, Wen Zui felt a chill in his own crotch, but he also felt Liu Ruoling had done a fantastic job, so he pulled his hand away to give her a thumbs up.
“Young Master Wen, we will handle Shi Qin. As for Miss Liu?” The man in black had a look of exhaustion, clearly wanting to clock out.
“Ruoling, why do you not stay here tonight? I really do not feel safe with you going back alone.”
“It is fine, it is fine. I have a dinner date with Jiamu tonight anyway. I just dropped by to see you. I will leave with him! Do not worry about me!”
The room returned to silence, but Wen Zui’s face was full of a sense of loss. The System, which had just disappeared, popped up again with a cheeky tone. “Oh my, the protagonist’s little childhood sweetheart is going on a date with her other childhood friend. Host, are you not going to comfort him?”
“No need. Once he sets foot on the path of cultivation, he will naturally realize that mortal love is nothing but meaningless trifles.”
That night, Wen Zui finished washing up in a daze. Just as he was about to turn off the lights and go to sleep, he realized a very important problem.
“Master, this house has three rooms now. Can you sleep by yourself? Or rather, can a snake sleep alone?”
“Why?” Yun Qi asked matter-of-factly.
“Humans and snakes are different. Humans need their own independent space!” Wen Zui was driven a bit mad. He tried to grab the little blue snake coiled on his chest, but failed.
“Then just treat me as a plush toy. I am sensitive to the cold.” This was a lie, of course; Yun Qi simply liked the feeling of being coiled around his sacrificial offering.
Wen Zui said, “That is not the same! I am afraid of snakes! I cannot sleep well with you here!”
Yun Qi frowned, thinking Wen Zui was talking nonsense. Except for the time he turned back into his original form to scare him, he had not felt that Wen Zui was afraid of snakes at all. “Truly afraid of snakes?”
“Truly!” Wen Zui widened his eyes, trying to make his aggressive features look a bit more “soft and cute” to increase his credibility.
“Fine.”
Before Wen Zui could rejoice for even a second, a bright blue light suddenly flared before his eyes. A moment later, a man as white as snow appeared in front of him.
“AH!” Wen Zui let out a miserable scream, simply because Yun Qi did not have a single stitch of clothing on his body. He was just standing there stark naked, assaulting Wen Zui’s eyes. Without thinking, Wen Zui dived under the covers, trying to escape everything he had just seen in the simplest way possible.
How is this snake demon so white! So pink! And most importantly, so big!
Yun Qi was doing it on purpose, of course. Seeing Wen Zui hide under the quilt, he cleared his throat and spoke with feigned confusion, “Wen Zui? Are you even afraid of humans?”
The person under the quilt seemed completely choked up. It took a long time for a muffled voice to come out. “Master, why are you not wearing clothes!”
The curve of Yun Qi’s lips widened. He rubbed his chin and offered a hypocritical explanation, “It is uncomfortable. Can I sleep with you now?”
“No!” Wen Zui refused categorically. He performed a “carp leap” out of bed and frantically found one of his T-shirts to pull over Yun Qi. Before he could breathe a sigh of relief, Wen Zui discovered to his horror that his clothes were a bit too small for Yun Qi. They did not even cover his navel, let alone his lower body.
Being forced to observe the “giant” for a second time, Wen Zui felt his face burning as if it were about to catch fire. He quickly turned around again, rummaging through his things to find pajama pants for Yun Qi.
With everything finally settled, Wen Zui wanted to say something, but remembering Yun Qi said he was cold, he hurriedly wrapped himself and Yun Qi tightly in the quilt. Only then did he prepare to denounce Yun Qi’s unscrupulous behavior. But the moment he looked up and saw Yun Qi’s face, he was suddenly speechless.
The man looked as if he were carved from the snow of a celestial pond, fashioned by the ghostly craftsmanship of nature into a clear and elegant visage. Under the cold glow of the incandescent light, he shimmered slightly, looking at Wen Zui with a pair of smiling peach-blossom eyes.
He is practically a fox! Wen Zui felt like he could not breathe. “Master, you, why do you look like this?”
Yun Qi blinked, the corners of his lips curling slightly as he accurately captured the amazement in Wen Zui’s eyes. “Have you not seen my original form? Silver hair and golden pupils are too conspicuous, so I made myself look a bit more plain.”
Wen Zui swore he had never seen anyone so beautiful. His heart was beating so fast he felt oxygen-deprived. I am straight! Straight!
Seeing Yun Qi still staring at him with those incredibly beautiful eyes, Wen Zui grit his teeth and covered Yun Qi’s eyes, saying helplessly, “Yun Qi, just change back. I suddenly feel that the current you is scarier than a snake.”
He gave an ambiguous chuckle, and a small blue snake emerged from the bedding in the next second. It climbed onto Wen Zui’s chest as if it belonged there and found a comfortable spot to lie down.
At this moment, the System quietly reappeared at the head of the bed. Seeing Wen Zui’s lovestruck expression, it couldn’t help but brag to itself once more about its wisdom in choosing this Host. It knew that no one in the world could resist its Host’s face!
