- Chapter 3 - The Ghost Marriage; The Reborn Little Snake Seeks Warmth Inside Clothes
The onlookers felt a flash of blue light as the once incredibly sharp watermelon knife instantly shattered into pieces. Wen Zui stood once again in front of Liu Ruoling to shield her.
His sharp features were highly defined under the setting sun. While the lashes at the corners of his eyes drooped slightly, a playful smile hung on his lips, which greatly diminished the natural sense of melancholy on his face.
“Come at me together. I am in a hurry.”
Before his voice even faded, the yellow-haired thug felt a bone-chilling cold, as if his throat were being locked by a terrifying and dangerous creature. The sensation made his hair stand on end and left him unable to move.
In the next second, his entire body felt out of control as he was suspended in mid-air. With a loud bang, he was slammed against the wall. A silver light flashed, followed immediately by a surge of intense pain.
“Aaaaaah!”
Fragments of the broken watermelon knife pinned the thug’s right palm firmly to the wall, causing him to let out a shrill scream. The other thugs present were instantly beaten until their faces were bruised and swollen, leaving them with no strength to fight back.
“Boss, please spare us! We beg you!”
“We were blind not to recognize your greatness! Please, big brother, be the bigger man and overlook our mistakes!”
“Get out.”
The possessed Wen Zui spoke coldly. Then, his eyes flashed with blue light, and the real Wen Zui regained control of his body.
The thugs were scared out of their wits. They ran away howling and crying, moving faster than rabbits as if a ghost were chasing them. Nearby, Liu Ruoling was so shocked that her mouth hung open.
“A-Zui, since when did you become so powerful?”
Wen Zui blinked and froze in place, beginning to instinctively savor the feeling of power that had filled his body.
Suddenly, his right hand felt heavy. A small snake, about two fingers wide, wound itself around his wrist. Its bright azure scales looked faded, and it appeared extremely weak with bright red blood trickling from the corner of its mouth.
“Yun Qi? What is wrong with you? How can I save you?”
The little snake did not respond.
Wen Zui’s voice carried a tremor that he had not yet noticed. His mind was in a state of chaos, and he immediately thought of the apprenticeship ceremony Yun Qi had asked him to complete earlier.
Yun Qi’s purpose was clearly for him to finish that ceremony. Perhaps it could save him?
His legs moved faster than his brain. By the time he realized what he was doing, he was already on his electric scooter, while Liu Ruoling shouted something anxiously behind him.
“Ruoling! I have an emergency! Call me if they come back!”
With that, Wen Zui rushed back to his rented room at top speed. He lit the incense again, carefully placed the small snake from his wrist onto the table, and solemnly knelt on the ground to kowtow three times.
In an instant, a red thread emitting thick black energy wound itself around their souls. Wen Zui felt a sharp pain at the back of his neck. An azure viper tattoo appeared instantly, looking like a brand emerging from the depths of his soul.
A mysterious and profound feeling lingered in his heart, as though this lonely ghost had established an incredibly deep connection with him. It made him feel fond of the spirit and caused him to let down his guard.
The room was suddenly filled with a brilliant blue light that was so bright it was hard to keep one’s eyes open.
“Congratulations to the host for completing the initial task! The resurrection reward has been issued!”
The little silver ball glowed brightly and circled Yun Qi repeatedly. It even set off two fireworks in celebration.
“Master Host, you are amazing! You pretended to be pitiful and immediately tricked the Long Aotian protagonist. Now that the ghost marriage is formed, you can communicate through consciousness, and you can even track his location!”
Yun Qi curled his lips into a slight smile upon hearing this. He did not speak, but closed his eyes to feel his newly condensed body.
It felt as though he had returned to a newborn state. His scales were a faint light blue and lacked any hardness. He was as thin as a bean sprout and had almost no cultivation left. Truly, everything was starting over.
After a moment, the blue light faded. The first things Yun Qi felt were a deep hunger and a bone-chilling cold. Almost by instinct, he locked onto the only prey and heat source in the room. He slid down Wen Zui’s collar at top speed.
“Master? Yun Qi?”
Wen Zui felt something cold and slippery moving against his waist and abdomen, bringing a slight itch and a chill that made his spine tingle. He could only call out to Yun Qi helplessly, afraid to touch him for fear of hurting him.
“Ngh!”
Where exactly was this damn snake demon biting?
Wen Zui felt a sharp pain in his chest. Ignoring everything else, he quickly pulled off his hoodie, revealing his well-shaped eight-pack abs and chest muscles. He grabbed the snake that was sucking blood from his chest.
Before he could get angry, a weak voice echoed in his mind.
“So cold, so hungry. I have returned to a newborn state. Your blood makes me feel better.”
The warmth of Wen Zui’s body spread across Yun Qi’s cold frame like warm water. The little snake let out a satisfied sigh and coiled tighter.
Wen Zui froze. He thought to himself that the snake could not be allowed to bite his chest. He wondered if the creature had mistaken him for its mother.
Yun Qi could not explain why, but he felt a massive attraction coming from Wen Zui that made him lose control. Seeing Wen Zui soften his attitude, he immediately bit down again and began to greedily drink his blood.
He really is easy to trick.
As the warm blood slid into his stomach, Yun Qi flicked his tongue in delight, which inadvertently brushed against Wen Zui again.
“Ugh, ah.”
What a strange sensation!
Wen Zui endured the discomfort and trapped all the ambiguous sounds in his throat. However, he discovered to his horror that he was actually having a physical reaction.
How was this possible? He was actually feeling aroused by the biting of a snake demon?
Just then, Yun Qi rubbed his slippery little head against him and began to travel downward. It seemed he was full and prepared to find a warm place to sleep.
Snakes do indeed hibernate in winter, especially when they are so small.
Yun Qi was not thinking much about it. He was an arboreal snake; once he was full, he naturally wanted to rest and instinctively looked for a branch to coil around. However, the belt on Wen Zui’s waist blocked his movement. Annoyed, he bared his fangs and bit two small holes into the leather.
A pair of warm hands carefully lifted him off the belt and placed him on a wrist, poking his head gently.
“I will go buy a heated tank for you. Stay here and do not wander off, understood?”
Yun Qi tilted his head. The sleepiness from the meal overwhelmed his small brain, and he drifted off to sleep. By the time he woke up, it was completely dark.
A snake’s night vision is excellent. Furthermore, Wen Zui’s scent was all over him. He flicked his tongue unhappily, dissatisfied that Wen Zui had left him on the dining table.
He suddenly tried to take off, but he bumped his head against a transparent glass box.
Yun Qi paused, only then realizing that he was not cold at all.
Is this the heated tank?
Using a small spell, Yun Qi appeared by Wen Zui’s bed. His golden pupils stared quietly at Wen Zui as he fell into thought.
When he first resurrected, he thought he was just hungry. But why did he still want to consume Wen Zui so badly now?
“System.”
“I am here, Master Host,” the little silver ball appeared abruptly with a flattering expression.
“Are you hiding something from me?”
“Absolutely not!” The little silver ball swore solemnly, then added quietly, “It is just that your ghost marriage has undergone a small and unexpected change.”
“Oh? What change?”
“The manual the main system gave me must be wrong! Now, the Long Aotian protagonist is not only joined to you in a ghost marriage, but he has also become your sacrificial offering. That is why you find him so tempting. A portion of the spiritual energy he cultivates will also be contributed to you!”
“Ah, that is not bad at all.”
The little silver ball wiped away non-existent sweat. It sensed a hidden threat behind Yun Qi’s tiny snake face and disappeared immediately out of fear.
Yun Qi flicked his tail and dove into Wen Zui’s arms. He skillfully found a cozy spot to coil up and could not resist taking another bite of the little red spot he had been mistreating.
Tomorrow, what should I trick him into giving me?
