[Fierce-looking amnesiac “loyal dog” Sentinel Top x Cheerful, show-off Guide Bottom]
It is common knowledge that the graduation exams at the Tower are notoriously sadistic. However, Guanyue Xi, a Guide candidate, managed to pick up more than just a passing grade during his already hair-raising trial—he picked up a whole person.
Guanyue Xi: “Hold on, nobody told me ‘finding a random guy’ was part of the marking criteria?”
The Examiner: “Exam suspended. Pack your bags and take this Sentinel to the hospital.”
The Guide Physician: “You’ll have to take responsibility for him now. He won’t survive without you.”
Guanyue Xi: “No thanks, not interested. Sentinels are a nightmare. I’d rather work as a bricklayer than do mental restoration, and as for a permanent bond? Don’t even think about it.”
Fast forward a while later.
Guanyue Xi, the black-haired Guide, stands hand-in-hand with the Sentinel he rescued from the desolate planet, their fingers tightly interlaced.
Guanyue Xi announces: “Hello everyone, we’ve bonded.”
The Crowd: “Excuse me, WHAT?”
After bringing the Sentinel home, Guanyue Xi finds himself pinned to the bed for an initial bond in the middle of the night. He stares into the Sentinel’s glowing green snake-like pupils shining through the darkness, feeling cold scales slide across his palm.
Guanyue Xi: “Holy sh”
After the permanent bond:
An impossibly long, nimble serpent tail coils around the Guide’s waist cold, sleek, and slowly tightening. Guanyue Xi snaps the Sentinel’s visual perception shut in a panic. The Sentinel doesn’t utter a word, simply burying his head and continuing his work.
Breathless and flustered, Guanyue Xi snaps: “I only shut off your sight, not your hearing! Stop playing deaf!”
Adopting an amnesiac Sentinel also meant gainning a giant “pet snake” a Green Anaconda over ten metres long that somehow insists on nuzzling people like a puppy.
Guanyue Xi: “I’m sorry, but I really can’t lift you. How about I give you my Black Mamba to play with instead?”
The Black Mamba, currently playing dead in his mental realm, lazily slithers in a small circle.

Before Mental Restoration:
Shiraishi Hare: Fierce, guarded, and cold.
After Mental Restoration:
Shiraishi Hare: Docile, obedient, and devoted only to you.
Guanyue Xi: “Do you remember anything?”
Shiraishi Hare: “The equipment, the experiments… and you.”
If you asked Guanyue Xi if he’d regret picking up this Sentinel, knowing it would eventually lead to life-threatening danger, he would simply reply:
“He’s handsome, he’s sweet, and as they say—if you marry a Sentinel, you follow the Sentinel. I’m in.”
