A Fatal Attraction from Lawyer A - Chapter 2
Gu Yuxi had only heard about the second young master’s temper from CEO Chu and CEO Luo, but after a few days back in the country, he finally got to witness it. Luo Panzhi’s fiery temper felt so close that even from the next office, separated by a one-way mirror, it was as if he were right there.
He leaned back in his comfortable chair, his body slightly turned, with his legs crossed and hands resting on his knees. He calmly enjoyed watching his young boss rage at a subordinate once again.
This hot-tempered Young CEO Luo had truly inherited the genes of CEO Chu and CEO Luo. His face, in particular, stood out among Alphas, a truly captivating presence.
“We haven’t even solved the B.O. Sex Differentiation Agent issue, and you’re already giving me a proposal for an A.B. Sex Differentiation Agent? Are you going to have me develop an A.A. Sex Differentiation Agent next? Don’t think that you can rely on Galaxy Group to increase birth rates. If you’re so capable, go research it yourselves. Tell them to research the A.A. Sex Differentiation Agent first. If they succeed, I’ll be the test subject. I’ll give birth.”
He didn’t know what had happened now. Gu Yuxi watched Luo Panzhi, who was facing the mirror-wall in his office.
He unbuttoned the top button of his shirt with one hand, revealing the watch on his wrist and a section of pale skin. He seemed agitated, and his movements were a little rough. He twisted his neck. The hidden veins on the side of his neck were faintly visible as he swallowed. His thin lips were pressed together, and his slightly upturned natural brows were furrowed with anger.
The contradiction between his unintentional boyishness and his maturity was perfectly highlighted by his expensive suit.
Yes, his young boss had just graduated from graduate school and was only 24. Although he had grown up immersed in the influence of his excellent fathers, he was very familiar with his family business and knew the heavy burden on his shoulders.
But at his core, he was still just a 24-year-old young man.
He would always unintentionally reveal a trace of a childish nature that he couldn’t get rid of.
Just like the phrase from a moment ago: “Tell them to research the A.A. Sex Differentiation Agent first. If they succeed, I’ll be the test subject. I’ll give birth.”
Gu Yuxi lowered his head and smiled, adjusting his glasses. He then stood up, pushed his chair back, and walked toward the door. After enjoying the pleasing sight, it was time to get down to business.
He wasn’t here to shirk his duties.
Luo Panzhi looked at the pile of documents on his desk and felt his head was about to explode. Irritated, he collapsed onto the nearby sofa, covering his eyes with his arm and waving his other hand dismissively. “Xu Wen, get out first. I need a moment alone.”
“Yes, Young CEO Luo.” Xu Wen felt helpless and had to leave. As he pushed the door open, he happened to see Lawyer Gu, who was about to enter. Just as he was about to greet him, he saw Lawyer Gu raise his index finger to his lips, giving a subtle look that indicated silence.
Xu Wen had heard about the Galaxy Group’s chief lawyer. He’d heard that he was personally trained by CEO Chu and CEO Luo. Hearing about him was one thing, but seeing him was another. Even though he had seen him every day for the past few days, seeing such a handsome Alpha was still dazzling.
‘So why did he not want me to make a sound?’
In his confusion, Lawyer Gu had already closed the door, completely shutting off any space for his guesses.
Luo Panzhi just wanted to nap for a bit. He had only slept at 3 AM last night, and he’d gotten up early this morning for an employee meeting. Then he had to deal with a pile of documents submitted from below. The headache made his temples throb.
Then he heard footsteps. Assuming it was Xu Wen who hadn’t left yet, he irritably pulled his arm away, his eyes filled with anger. “Didn’t I tell you to g—”
The word ‘get’ barely left his mouth when he saw who it was. He stopped abruptly, cleverly twisting the word into a smile.
Gu Yuxi calmly took in the young boss’s fascinating change in expression. He asked, “Tell me to what?”
Luo Panzhi forced himself to suppress the anger in his heart. Although he still felt very uncomfortable, he liked this face too much to get angry at it. But since the man was here, he might as well get some benefits.
“Help me massage my temples. My head hurts.”
After saying that, he lay down flat, his hands clasped over his abdomen, and closed his eyes to wait.
Gu Yuxi stood by the sofa, looking at Luo Panzhi. The collar of his shirt was slightly open, and he could faintly see his shoulders and neck. His shirt sleeves were slightly tight from lying down, outlining the subtle muscle definition of his arms.
Even without speaking, just lying there, it was as if the pheromones suppressed within the young Alpha’s veins were secretly surging and shouting.
Shouting at him in a different way.
He dared to ask him to help massage his temples? He wasn’t afraid of being accused of abusing his power for personal gain.
But his intentions weren’t pure either. It was a mutual feeling.
“Young CEO Luo, there’s no space on the sofa.”
Luo Panzhi slowly opened his eyes. He tilted his head to look at Gu Yuxi, who had raised the issue. He quickly sat up and patted the spot on the sofa where his head had just been.
“You can sit here.”
Gu Yuxi’s throat bobbed. He wasn’t sure what he was thinking, and he looked at Luo Panzhi with a hint of hesitation. “Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
Gu Yuxi stood there silently, contemplating for a moment, as if battling with himself, before slowly sitting down. The moment he did, Luo Panzhi’s head immediately rested on his lap.
The movement was so quick it almost made him jump.
“Lawyer Gu, your thigh is so hard. It’s not very comfortable to lie on, but I can make do with it.” Luo Panzhi said, as if with great reluctance, and he shifted around on the thigh until he was comfortable.
Before he had completely settled, he felt a large hand press down firmly on his forehead.
“Young CEO Luo, I don’t believe my job description includes giving you a massage.”
Luo Panzhi opened his eyes. The position of his head on Gu Yuxi’s lap meant he could only look up at him, but he could only see the man’s jawline, which was more defined than a life plan, and his bobbing Adam’s apple.
‘Even this man’s Adam’s apple is sexy. It’s really distracting me from my work.’
He reached out and poked it.
In the next instant, his wrist was grabbed firmly by Gu Yuxi. The grip was strong. He was caught off guard and met Gu Yuxi’s gaze as the man looked down at him.
Gu Yuxi’s face behind his wire-rimmed glasses was emotionless, colder than what he usually saw. The look in his eyes was unreadable. The hand holding him was very firm, as if all the suppressed anger was channeled into his grip.
“Lawyer Gu, isn’t it your duty to help your superior relieve his worries?” Luo Panzhi didn’t care that his hand was in pain and smiled freely.
“Then don’t move around so much.” Gu Yuxi let go of his hand. He accidentally caught sight of a red mark on Luo Panzhi’s wrist, and his eyes deepened.
‘He bruises that easily?’
‘What a hot-tempered yet delicate Alpha.’
“So fierce,” Luo Panzhi grumbled, then lay back contentedly and closed his eyes. “Hurry up and massage me. My head is killing me. If you don’t do a good job, I’ll make you work overtime tonight.”
“A true capitalist, prioritizing profit above all,” Gu Yuxi said calmly. At the same time, he began to massage Luo Panzhi’s temples.
His slender, slightly cool fingers applied just the right amount of pressure. Luo Panzhi felt the throbbing pain on both sides of his head slowly being soothed. When he heard what Gu Yuxi said, he laughed. “I’m not capable of being a true capitalist. If I were that ruthless, why would I have been so upset that I couldn’t sleep for several nights because of the Beta who unexpectedly died from the agent?”
Gu Yuxi was a little surprised to hear the word “upset.”
‘He wasn’t just irritated?’
He lowered his gaze, looking at Luo Panzhi’s furrowed brow. His hands didn’t stop massaging, but his eyes were fixed on the opening and closing of those lips.
“You’ve also seen the criminal lawsuit. Ruixing Hospital determined that the agent was the cause and didn’t mention any other reasons. I asked the hospital to provide the Beta’s physical examination report before the injection, the agent’s sensitivity test records, and the 42-hour observation records after the injection, but they refused.”
“I requested an autopsy, but the Beta’s family disagreed. Even the Beta’s Omega was unwilling to meet with me to talk about it. All the hospitals are using this incident to unite and ask me to hand over the upgraded formula for the agent. They believe the formula is the problem.”
“The upgraded agent has been on the market for two years. Before its release, it underwent four rounds of testing. In these two years, there hasn’t been a single incident, but now a problem has occurred just after I took this position.”
“My fathers are so excellent. They’ve made so many groundbreaking contributions to the A.B.O. system. From the nationwide public distribution of inhibitors and the national Omega protection plan to the B.O. Sex Differentiation Agent that allows Betas to differentiate into pseudo-alpha pheromones to bond with Omegas and increase the birth rate. My fathers’ vision was for society as a whole, not for a specific gender. They were thinking for the benefit of society. They are great, but they got in the way of those who are consumed by greed.”
“Especially by challenging the status of Alphas. Genes determine them as the strongest, but my fathers, to a certain extent, diminished their presence, allowing all three genders to stand on equal footing.”
“The inhibitor allows Omegas, who once needed protection, to no longer fear Alphas. The agent temporarily gives Betas the ability to mark Omegas. Although it’s still genetically incomparable to an Alpha, there’s no doubt that the birth of the agent has made Betas leaders in the new century, especially their B.O. offspring.”
The young boss’s voice was full of pride and confidence, but also fatigue and powerlessness due to stress.
Gu Yuxi couldn’t help but lighten his massage.
Luo Panzhi opened his eyes.
Their gazes met.
Gu Yuxi hadn’t expected Luo Panzhi to open his eyes suddenly. He froze for a moment, but his face remained calm, fulfilling his duty of massaging his young boss. But inside, his heart began to ripple.
Because Luo Panzhi’s words made his heart ripple.
And because Luo Panzhi’s overly intense gaze made his heart ripple.
“Lawyer Gu, some people think I’m young. They think I can’t suppress those greedy individuals as powerfully as my fathers. So they are deluding themselves, asking me to hand over the agent’s formula, hoping to stop me from continuing to make Betas into useful members of society. They only want Alphas to be the absolute strongest.”
Luo Panzhi looked at Gu Yuxi, saying the things he had held in his heart and never told anyone. Even though he knew he had only just met Gu Yuxi, he couldn’t help but say these things out loud.
He didn’t know why. Maybe it was really because of his preference for attractive faces.
Or maybe it was because…
He had never smelled an Alpha with such gentle pheromones. Although this person seemed very cold, when he massaged his temples, his fingertips would unintentionally brush past his eyebrows, and a faint Alpha pheromone would waft out. Although it was weak, he still caught it.
It was so, so gentle.
It was truly worthy of being the world’s most expensive Juliet rose. It was like a rare species among Alphas. You couldn’t find an Alpha with such gentle pheromones in a billion people. It was as if Gu Yuxi’s Alpha pheromones were an exception to the rule of Alpha mutual exclusion.
Subconsciously, this made him feel that Gu Yuxi was different from other Alphas and from his subordinates.
His subordinates only told him to prioritize the big picture, control public opinion, and quietly urged him to hand over the formula to silence those people’s incessant chatter.
So he wanted to ask Gu Yuxi.
“You also said that your fathers are very excellent people. Would their son be lacking?”
Luo Panzhi was stunned.
“You also said that they are deluding themselves by asking you to hand over the agent’s formula.”
“You also said that they are deluding themselves by trying to shake the great and peaceful system your fathers built with their hard work, trying to stop people of all genders from becoming useful members of society.”
“You also said that these greedy people are Alphas, and they are the only ones who want this. The combined strength of the Omegas, Betas, and some smart and wise Alphas in this society is much, much more than that of certain Alphas.”
Gu Yuxi placed his hand over Luo Panzhi’s eyelids and said softly, “Young CEO Luo, do you believe I am a smart and wise Alpha?”
The large, gentle palm blocked out the light. The motion was as gentle as his words, carrying an imperceptible tenderness that was enough to lull someone to sleep.
Luo Panzhi laughed, as if he had found a like-minded companion. His thoughts slowly relaxed, and he closed his eyes.
“Lawyer Gu, I believe you.”
Gu Yuxi felt the tingling sensation of long eyelashes brushing against his palm. As he listened to Luo Panzhi’s voice, which was thick with sleepiness, the corners of his lips curved slightly. A cold determination appeared in his eyes.
“Young CEO Luo, with me here, you will definitely win this lawsuit.”
