Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 41.3
Why was she so mad?
She really didn’t get it. Shen Jueshu’s mood swings were impossible to track.
With a long sigh, she eventually noticed the darkening sky outside. Since she wasn’t going to get anything else done today, she figured she might as well head home early.
As she prepared to leave, she looked at the others still hard at work and said helplessly, “What are you all still doing here? Planning to work yourselves to death? If you die from overwork, you won’t even get a chance to enjoy your compensation payout.”
Why are all the Omegas in this world such overachievers? Shen Jueshu was, and so were her team members. They were all efficiency maniacs.
Everyone else: “…”
Despite the silence, they did start packing up. She wasn’t wrong—no one wanted to burn out just to hand their benefits to people who looked down on them for being Omegas.
Sui Yu headed downstairs to the floor where Shen Jueshu’s office was. The lights were still on.
Maybe she’s cooled down a bit after the whole day? she thought. She went up and knocked on the door.
“Come in.” Shen Jueshu’s voice was cool, emotionless.
Sui Yu: “…” Still doesn’t sound too friendly.
She pushed the door open to see Shen Jueshu staring intently at her screen, one hand typing rapidly while the other clicked away on a mouse. The sheer efficiency left Sui Yu slightly stunned.
She’s ambidextrous? Damn, that’s impressive.
“Uh… it’s time to go home,” Sui Yu said with a small cough.
Shen Jueshu paused, then looked up. Seeing Sui Yu standing there awkwardly, eyes darting everywhere except at her, her chest tightened.
Am I really that intimidating to her?
Still silent, Sui Yu mumbled, “You told me to set an alarm, but I think you’re the one who needs it more…”
Her voice was soft, her posture submissive. If not for the faint trace of Alpha pheromones, she wouldn’t have seemed like an Alpha at all.
Shen Jueshu let out a quiet sigh, saved her files, shut down her computer, and grabbed her coat. “Let’s go.”
Sui Yu visibly relaxed. She hurried to open the door for her, her enthusiasm almost wagging behind her like a happy golden retriever.
Shen Jueshu: “…”
She couldn’t help but find the image amusing. As ridiculous as it sounded, Sui Yu really did remind her of a golden retriever.
They walked out together. Sui Yu kept sneaking glances at Shen Jueshu, clearly wanting to say something but holding it in, her face slowly turning red.
Of course, Shen Jueshu noticed. But she said nothing, deliberately pretending not to. She kept her expression neutral, acting as if she hadn’t noticed anything.
Sui Yu: “…” What kind of normal person wouldn’t at least ask, “What’s on your mind?”
She lowered her head, completely deflated. She wanted to ask why Shen Jueshu had gotten so upset that morning—but she was scared it would reignite her anger now that things seemed to have calmed down.
They got in the car and headed home. Shen Jueshu still didn’t say a word, and Sui Yu really did hold it in the whole way. Shen Jueshu couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.
This woman can really bottle things up. No wonder she drives people crazy.
When they finally got home and were about to get out of the car, Shen Jueshu spoke.
“Alright. Say it. You’ve been dying to talk all the way back—what is it?”
Hearing her finally ask, Sui Yu’s face lit up with joy. But she quickly tried to hide it, which only made her look more awkward.
“Ahem.” She cleared her throat and said carefully, “Whatever I say next—you can’t get mad, okay?”
Shen Jueshu: “…” Wasn’t she an expert at putting on an act in front of others? Why does she wear her heart on her sleeve the moment we’re alone?
“Say it.”
“Not until you promise!” Sui Yu insisted.
Shen Jueshu’s expression tightened. Sui Yu was really becoming more and more shameless. She actually dared to bargain with her now.
Looking at that eager face, Shen Jueshu closed her eyes. She really must’ve been a nemesis sent by fate. One day, Sui Yu was going to be the death of her.
“Fine. I promise—I won’t get angry.”
The moment she heard Shen Jueshu agree, Sui Yu lit up with joy and quickly said, “Why were you so angry this morning? Don’t you want a divorce too? If you still have some plan that involves using this relationship, you can just tell me. I’ll cooperate—I’m not difficult.”
She even blinked innocently, trying to show how sincere she was.
Shen Jueshu: “…”
A vein throbbed at her temple. She’s really spent the whole day thinking about this?
And based on her words… did she truly believe the only thing between them was mutual benefit? Nothing more?
Seeing the change in her expression, Sui Yu instinctively inched toward the car door, putting some distance between them. Just in case, she reminded, “You promised you wouldn’t get mad. Don’t forget that!”
Shen Jueshu shot her a cold glance and forced out a strained smile. “I’m not angry. I just think some people are unbelievably dense. More and more, I’m convinced your last death might’ve actually been due to stupidity.”
“Maybe if a zombie outbreak ever happened, the zombies wouldn’t even want your brain. They’d be afraid of getting dumber by eating it.”
Sui Yu’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Are you seriously insulting me again?!”
She got yelled at in the morning, and now again? What was Shen Jueshu’s problem with her?
“Did I use foul language?” Shen Jueshu asked flatly.
Sui Yu: “…” Okay, technically not foul language—but it hurt more than actual swearing.
She recalled her death in the previous life—tripping and falling down a flight of stairs. If she was being honest… maybe it did have a little to do with stupidity.
Sui Yu: “…” I want to curse her out so bad right now.
“Are you going to explain or not? What’s with all this sarcasm?” she snapped in frustration. If this woman could tone down the passive-aggressive jabs a bit, she might even be likable!
Shen Jueshu was the kind of person who only worked in fiction. Reading her in a book? Fine—cool and intense. But experiencing her in real life? Honestly, it made Sui Yu want to call the cops.
Seeing the way Sui Yu pouted, Shen Jueshu felt that ball of anger flare up in her chest again. She wanted to explain, but she also knew that saying it now might only make things worse.
She closed her eyes, trying to calm herself, then said coldly, “I’m not angry. I’m just on my period. My emotions are unstable.”
With that, she opened the door and got out of the car.
Sui Yu’s eyes widened to the size of saucers. She scrambled out of the car and chased after her, disbelief written all over her face. “Shen Jueshu! At least come up with a better excuse! Who do you think you’re fooling?!”
This was an ABO world—who even had periods here?!
As a side note, Sui Yu had once marveled that, in this world, women didn’t get periods. Which meant saving a whole lot of money on menstrual products—honestly, a win.
But Shen Jueshu didn’t respond. She walked straight into the house, changed her shoes, and headed upstairs without a backward glance—as if she couldn’t stand to be in the same room with Sui Yu for even one more second.
Sui Yu: “…” She won’t even try to give me a proper excuse anymore!
With a huff, she turned her head and went back to her room. Fine! I’m not some emotional punching bag!
The next morning, Shen Jueshu came downstairs and didn’t see Sui Yu. That wasn’t too unusual—Sui Yu normally got up a little later. So she sat down and slowly ate her breakfast.
But by the time she was nearly finished, Sui Yu still hadn’t appeared. Shen Jueshu frowned. Did she oversleep? Should I call her to wake her up?
At that moment, the housekeeper walked out and saw her frowning. “What’s wrong so early in the morning?”
Shen Jueshu looked up. “I was just wondering if Sui Yu overslept.”
“Huh? She left early this morning,” the housekeeper said with a confused look. “Didn’t even eat breakfast. I told her to eat something, but she said she wasn’t hungry.”
Shen Jueshu’s frown deepened. “She left early?”
“Yes. You young people really shouldn’t neglect your health like that. I know I’m being nosy, but if you don’t take care of your body while you’re young, you’ll regret it later.”
Shen Jueshu mumbled a vague response but had already lost her appetite.
Did Sui Yu have something urgent… or was she just avoiding me?
Seeing Shen Jueshu push her plate away, the housekeeper sighed. These young people—impossible to talk sense into.
After heading upstairs to change, Shen Jueshu left for work. On the way, she passed a breakfast stall and hesitated for a moment. Did Sui Yu buy anything for herself after leaving?
Thinking about how the housekeeper said she hadn’t eaten, Shen Jueshu finally stopped and bought some food.
Once she got to the company, she pulled up the security footage for the lab entrance. Seeing that Sui Yu had arrived early gave her a bit of relief. At least she hadn’t gone far.
She grabbed the breakfast she’d bought and headed upstairs, planning to deliver it.
But just as she arrived at the elevator, the doors opened—and she froze.
Standing inside was someone she hadn’t expected to see. It felt like lightning had struck her brain as her eyes locked on the figure inside.
The person looked up at Shen Jueshu—and their eyes lit up in recognition.
“President Shen, heading somewhere?” It was Qin Qing who finally broke the awkward silence. She glanced at the breakfast in Shen Jueshu’s hand, and something seemed to click in her mind.
Shen Jueshu snapped out of it and looked at the young woman standing next to Qin Qing. After a brief pause, she said, “I’m heading upstairs for a bit. If there are any documents that need signing, just leave them on my desk.”
“Yes, of course,” Qin Qing replied.
The elevator wasn’t the best place to chat. Qin Qing led the young woman out, while Shen Jueshu stepped in. Just as the doors were about to close, she caught the girl whispering to Qin Qing:
“That’s President Shen? She’s so gorgeous!”
Shen Jueshu lowered her gaze. The elevator doors closed.
She reached the lab floor and entered freely via fingerprint access. From a distance, she saw Sui Yu hunched over her workbench, focused on her task. Shen Jueshu didn’t disturb her. Instead, she quietly placed the breakfast in the lounge area and began wandering around the space within view, silently observing.
Truthfully, ever since the lab had been completed, she’d never really taken the time to look around.
As she wandered slowly, the others noticed her too—but knowing she was the “boss’s wife,” no one said anything. Everyone just kept busy with their work, unfazed by her presence.
Sui Yu, of course, noticed her. Her face under the mask was tense. Remembering last night’s awkward moment, she gave a cold huff inwardly. I can’t let her smooth-talk her way out of this so easily. She needs to stew for a while.
So, she deliberately slowed her pace in the lab. After all, Shen Jueshu’s time was valuable—if she ignored her long enough, she’d probably leave on her own. That thought helped Sui Yu focus more comfortably on her experimental data.
Sure enough, when she finally straightened her back to stretch and looked around, Shen Jueshu was gone. A faint, bitter smile crept onto her lips. As expected.
She turned to head for the lounge, and the other lab members exchanged looks, sensing the odd tension between them.
“Did they get into a fight?” Xia Ju whispered.
“Looks like it,” Wang Yue nodded seriously.
The other two nodded as well, all of them glancing toward the lounge.
“You don’t think they’ll actually start fighting in there, do you?” someone asked.
“Come on, President Shen doesn’t seem like the type to throw hands…”
“…Hmm. True, I guess.”
Suddenly, two distinct pheromonal signatures flared inside the lounge. Even at a distance, they could smell it. Thankfully, it wasn’t strong enough to affect them.
The person who just claimed they wouldn’t fight: “…” Okay, maybe I spoke too soon.
So what was going on inside?
Sui Yu had just wanted a quick water break, but when she opened the lounge door, she was met with the sight of Shen Jueshu inside—looking completely at ease, like she owned the place.
Sui Yu: “…Why are you still here?”
Does this woman not have any work to do?
Shen Jueshu looked up. “The housekeeper said you skipped breakfast. I brought you some.”
Sui Yu glanced at the food on the table. Her heart softened for a moment, but she quickly steeled herself again. What, she thinks one breakfast is enough to win me over?
“I’m not hungry,” she said coldly.
At that, Shen Jueshu was sure now—Sui Yu was mad at her. Probably over how half-hearted she’d acted last night.
“Even if you’re not hungry, you should eat a little. Skipping meals will hurt your stomach,” Shen Jueshu said after a pause.
“I said I’m not eating!” Sui Yu snapped, frustration creeping into her voice.
Shen Jueshu’s face darkened. Her pheromones flared slightly, making the air in the room turn icy cold. “What kind of attitude is that?”
Of course Sui Yu felt the shift in pheromones. Combined with that frosty tone, she immediately bristled. Does she think she’s the only one with pheromones?
She released her own, pushing back against Shen Jueshu’s cold aura. Her voice was taut: “What kind of attitude? Look at your own attitude!”
“You came at me last night with that tired, dismissive tone—why should I treat you any better now?!”
Their pheromones clashed mid-air, tension rising rapidly until it felt like the whole room might explode.
Eventually, Shen Jueshu’s expression shifted. She withdrew her pheromones first, realizing just how ridiculous this was. She’d come to make peace with Sui Yu, so how had things devolved into this?
“Sui Yu… I was just worried about you,” she said with quiet exasperation.
“I’m an adult. I don’t need this kind of pointless concern,” Sui Yu retorted, pulling back her pheromones too. Despite her words, her heart was already starting to soften.
Okay… maybe we’re even now. She brushed me off last night—I pushed back today. No need to keep acting like mortal enemies, right?
Shen Jueshu closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “If you don’t want to see me right now, then I’ll go.”
Clearly, the two of them weren’t in a good headspace to deal with each other.
Sui Yu stared, stunned, as Shen Jueshu turned to leave. Wait, what? I was just being a little cold—how’d she turn that into me not wanting to see her at all?!
Realizing her words had been misinterpreted, she rushed out after her. But just as she stepped off the elevator in a hurry, she collided headfirst with someone else who was also walking quickly.
Both of them stumbled back a step. Sui Yu clutched her forehead, wincing in pain and mumbling an apology as she looked up at the person she’d run into.
And when she saw who it was—her expression froze.
