Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 41.1
Sui Yu was completely at Shen Jueshu’s mercy!
Hearing her last comment, Sui Yu grew indignant and felt the need to defend herself.
“You can’t accuse me of anything! You were the one who pushed my head into your neck and told me to bite! I never gave you permission to yank my shirt!”
Shen Jueshu kept her eyes on the elevator display, watching the floor numbers tick down slowly. Her voice remained calm and even: “Exactly. Since I did it willingly, I don’t have grounds to press charges. Naturally, I won’t go to the police.”
Sui Yu: “…” Damn it, this woman is playing word games again!
Her face twisted into a scowl. She didn’t consider herself dumb, so why did she always end up losing whenever she argued with Shen Jueshu?
Could it be that all my intelligence was used up on academics and I’ve got nothing left for real life?
Seeing Sui Yu caught up in frustrated confusion, Shen Jueshu’s mood lifted noticeably. Teasing this woman once in a while really did brighten her day.
She brought Sui Yu to a night market. For some reason, she’d instinctively thought Sui Yu would like it—and sure enough, the moment she saw her eyes light up, she knew she’d guessed right.
When Sui Yu saw the whole street filled with food stalls and smelled the enticing aromas of various snacks, her appetite instantly kicked in. While she wasn’t in the mood for a proper dinner at such a late hour, this kind of street food completely awakened her cravings.
She started ordering items from stall after stall, and Shen Jueshu simply followed behind, paying for everything without a single word of protest. Whatever Sui Yu wanted to try, Shen Jueshu paid for it with quiet efficiency.
At first, Sui Yu felt a little shy about it. But eventually, she got so used to it that she stood at each new stall beaming and waving at Shen Jueshu as she handled payment at the last one.
Seeing Sui Yu smile like that—foolish and carefree—Shen Jueshu’s lips never lost their gentle curve. She truly loved seeing Sui Yu this happy.
They sampled a little from every stall, and by the end, Sui Yu was rubbing her now-rounded belly and sighing, “My stomach’s too small.”
Having watched her eat all night, Shen Jueshu’s expression turned a little complex. Small stomach? With the amount she just consumed, it was a miracle her digestive system could handle it.
“This is fine occasionally, but don’t make a habit of stuffing yourself like this,” Shen Jueshu said as she handed her four digestive tablets she’d bought earlier. Only after watching her take them did she feel at ease.
“Let’s walk a bit before going home,” she suggested. Sui Yu had clearly overeaten and needed to digest.
Sui Yu didn’t argue. She followed her with a faintly uncomfortable expression. The two of them strolled around the perimeter of a nearby park. Sui Yu’s face looked slightly miserable.
Eating had been delightful—but now she was feeling the consequences. Maybe I really do need to start controlling my food intake.
Shen Jueshu suddenly asked, “Has that person you saw at the club shown up again?”
The cool night breeze was pleasant. Sui Yu squinted and replied, “No. Not even a trace.”
She’d even asked the others who had been there that night, but none of them could identify the man. Some even claimed there had never been such a person present.
That only confirmed Sui Yu’s suspicion—the male Alpha really did have the ability to alter people’s memories.
She remembered clearly that the others had interacted with him. There was no way they wouldn’t remember unless something—or someone—had deliberately tampered with their minds.
Did he realize something was off about me? Is that why he erased everyone’s memory right after I left?
Watching her squinting and spacing out, Shen Jueshu sighed and took her hand, gently pulling her forward—just in case she stumbled straight into the nearby lake.
“If you can’t figure it out, just let it go for now,” she said calmly. “We’re already being hunted. As prey, how much can we really uncover on our own?”
“Yeah.” Sui Yu gave a soft reply. After walking a little further hand-in-hand, she murmured, “Shen Jueshu, let’s go home. I’m getting sleepy.”
A full belly paired with a cool breeze—how could she not get drowsy?
Seeing her sleepy expression, Shen Jueshu nodded gently. “Alright.”
Sui Yu slept soundly that night and didn’t wake up until noon. Someone had thoughtfully turned off her alarm, and no one had come to wake her.
After washing up, she came out to find Shen Jueshu sitting at the kitchen island, working on two laptops at once.
“You’re home?” Sui Yu asked while pouring herself a glass of warm water.
“Not much to do at the office today, so I asked Qin Qing to bring the files over.”
Shen Jueshu typed the last few characters, saved the document, shut the laptop, and looked up at her. “We’ve both been busy lately. Take today to rest.”
Even though most of the company matters had fallen to her, she knew Sui Yu had been just as busy—especially with the constant performance of pretending to manage things.
“Okay.” Sui Yu stretched lazily. But when she looked down, she noticed Shen Jueshu’s gaze had drifted toward her stomach.
“…”
A smirk tugged at Shen Jueshu’s lips. She’d clearly caught a glimpse of that soft, pale tummy when Sui Yu raised her arms just now.
“Don’t stare at people like a pervert!” Sui Yu scolded her. Did this woman not understand personal space between A and O?
Shen Jueshu’s expression didn’t change. “You’re standing right in front of me. It’s not like I want to look—but I’m not blind, am I?”
Sui Yu: “…”
No point arguing—she was never going to win.
“Are we going to the old house today?” Shen Jueshu asked.
Sui Yu paused mid-sip, raised her eyes to meet Shen Jueshu’s calm gaze, and after a moment of silence, she said firmly, “We’re going back.”
She wanted to find Uncle Li and see if he was willing to reveal anything.
After a simple lunch together at home, the two of them drove back to the old estate once more.
Neither of them could tell if it was just their imagination, but the place felt noticeably more desolate than before.
They were received once again by Uncle Li. After making tea for them, he sat across the table, looking at their young faces with a touch of wistfulness.
“Uncle Li, I have a feeling you already know why we’ve come back,” Sui Yu said directly, cutting to the point.
Shen Jueshu also fixed her eyes on Uncle Li. To be honest, she didn’t have a deep impression of him—only vague memories of seeing him during childhood visits with her parents. But even from those few interactions, she clearly remembered that every time he looked at her, there was always a hint of pity in his eyes.
Back then, she didn’t understand it. Her life had seemed perfect—what was there to pity? But now, looking back, she realized that Uncle Li had been grieving for her future.
Uncle Li let out a long sigh. “Some things… aren’t worth clinging to too tightly.”
Hearing that, Sui Yu took a deep breath. “We tried letting things go. But reality doesn’t work that way. We’ve already been dragged into all of this—how could we just walk away now?”
“Uncle Li, you know this world is a book, don’t you?”
“When you told me not to repeat the same mistakes, you meant I shouldn’t end up like the original Sui Yu… right?”
Uncle Li’s expression grew heavier. He exhaled deeply and looked at her with helpless eyes. “So what if it’s a book? Aren’t you living, breathing people now? And more than that—you’ve developed your own consciousness.”
So, he did know the truth.
Sui Yu’s heart surged with emotion. “Then can you tell us what’s really going on? Why was I able to come to this world? Now that the plot’s been altered, will it really be forcibly corrected?”
Uncle Li shook his head. “I can’t say more than I already have. There are things I know, yes—but I don’t have the clearance to speak on them.”
“If you want answers about how you arrived here, either you figure it out yourself, or you find someone with higher authority who can tell you.”
Sui Yu frowned. “There’s authority levels even when it comes to talking?”
But judging by his expression, he wasn’t going to say anything more.
“Then where do I find someone with higher authority?”
“I can’t tell you that either.”
