Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 40.2
Shen Jueshu smiled faintly. “Since you clearly have no effective method to deal with awakened individuals like us, what’s the point of continuing to show up in front of us?”
Standing beside her, Sui Yu looked at Shen Jueshu with admiration glowing in her eyes. Hearing everything she said, Sui Yu couldn’t help but feel awed—Shen Jueshu had managed to deduce so much from the woman’s behavior in such a short time. Sui Yu was utterly impressed.
Once again, the woman was left speechless by Shen Jueshu, clearly stung by her words. She snapped, “Don’t get too smug. Just because you want to change the story doesn’t mean you can. We might not have a solution right now—but don’t think we’re the only ones who want things back on track!”
In fact, she thought to herself, this anomaly must have already driven the higher-ups into a frenzy. After all, this was a perfect opportunity for study, a rare test subject.
They had attempted to research how to deal with awakened individuals before, but without exception, those people chose death before they could even be studied.
“Then we’ll be waiting,” Shen Jueshu said with a small smile, gesturing toward the door in a clear dismissal.
Furious at their attitude, the woman stood up and left in a huff.
Once she was gone, Sui Yu looked at Shen Jueshu, her eyes sparkling. She praised her without hesitation, “You were so cool just now!”
If Shen Jueshu hadn’t arrived in time, she doubted she would have been able to learn so much from that woman.
Hearing the compliment, the curve of Shen Jueshu’s lips deepened. “Seeing how impressed you are, don’t you feel like doing something?”
Maybe… devoting yourself to me?
“Do what?” Sui Yu blinked, then quickly stood up and walked behind Shen Jueshu, enthusiastically massaging her shoulders. “Boss, just take me with you! I’ll be your most loyal follower!”
Do something? Obviously, hug that thigh and never let go!
Shen Jueshu: “…”
Her expression froze for a moment, then turned into one of amusement. She suspected there was a screw loose in Sui Yu’s head—she didn’t even pick up on the flirting.
“Alright, if you’ve got this much energy, go finish your work.”
Sui Yu’s face immediately fell.
Though the woman had left, Sui Yu still felt the forces behind this vortex were far from simple.
Sitting in her office, she tapped a pen lightly against her desk, recalling the male alpha she’d seen at the club. Was he part of the same faction as that woman? If not, then which side did he belong to?
They still had pitifully little information to work with.
She sighed lightly, feeling like this world was truly testing her intelligence. It was rare enough for her to have to think beyond lab experiments, and now she was forced to play a mental chess game too—something she wasn’t especially skilled at.
Clearly, she couldn’t manage without Shen Jueshu. Without her, she’d likely be the one getting slaughtered.
Now, the entire company had been plunged into a tense atmosphere. But this time, it wasn’t because of anything Shen Jueshu or Sui Yu had done—it was the result of Shen Jueshu’s sweeping internal reforms.
When Suihe had handed the company to the original host, many had tried to take advantage of her youth and inexperience. Though the original had managed to secure her position through ability, some with ulterior motives still hadn’t given up.
Sui Yu shared a plotline she remembered with Shen Jueshu. After Shen Jueshu escaped and acquired Suihe, there was a major project that later went awry, causing a huge scandal that nearly wiped out all the effort she had put in over the years.
Sui Yu didn’t know who was responsible for the project, so she and Shen Jueshu had to root out everyone still harboring dangerous ambitions.
This sweeping reform was, in essence, a power purge.
When Sui Yu saw some disgruntled employees barging into Shen Jueshu’s office, she grew uneasy and followed them in—only to witness several Alphas trying to intimidate Shen Jueshu with pheromonal suppression.
Her expression turned cold, but when she met Shen Jueshu’s calm gaze, she forced herself to stay composed.
Despite being pressured by the pheromones of several Alphas at once, Shen Jueshu remained composed and unshaken. She lifted her gaze to meet theirs and said calmly, “If you’re unhappy, you’re welcome to resign.”
The men’s expressions changed at her words. One of them snapped, “President Shen, we’ve worked at this company for years. Maybe we haven’t done anything exceptional, but we’ve worked hard! Aren’t you worried that treating us like this will chill everyone else’s hearts?”
They turned their eyes toward Sui Yu, who had just entered, as if clinging to a final hope. “President Sui, look at how unreasonable President Shen is being! Shouldn’t such major company changes at least require your approval?”
Hearing their words, Sui Yu couldn’t help but sigh. They still thought she and Shen Jueshu were on opposite sides.
She walked slowly over to Shen Jueshu’s side, gently tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, and casually rested her arm across her shoulders. She then released her own pheromones, forming a shield around Shen Jueshu to block the chaotic pressure from the others. Her expression was helpless.
“She’s my wife. Naturally, what she says goes. Her opinion is mine. Why would I need to give separate approval?”
The others stared in disbelief, their bodies trembling with rage. One of them pointed at the two women, stammering, “You—You’re on the same side?!”
Seeing their intimacy, they were so infuriated they almost spat blood.
Sui Yu smirked. Her eyes held a mocking glint. “We’re married. Who else would I stand with if not her? If you’re talking about our past issues—what couple doesn’t fight? Once the conflict is resolved, of course we reconcile.”
Shen Jueshu relaxed, leaning back slightly. Out of the corner of her eye, she glanced at Sui Yu’s hand resting on her shoulder. The corners of her lips lifted faintly.
“You set us up!” someone finally shouted, realizing what had happened. Their faces turned red with anger.
“So what if we did?” Sui Yu’s voice turned frosty. “Let me be honest with you—you think I don’t know what kind of shady things you’ve been doing behind our backs? I do want to drive you out. If you have any sense of dignity left, leave on your own. Otherwise, I can’t say where the evidence I’ve collected might end up.”
She looked at the men who had been with Suihe for many years. But maybe they’d been there too long. A comfortable life had dulled their edge. Instead of striving for better results, they’d started taking crooked paths to enrich themselves.
Their faces all changed at once upon hearing her words. Glancing at one another, they fell silent, then turned and left.
Later, they submitted resignation letters, claiming they wanted to retire and enjoy life at home.
After they were gone, Sui Yu withdrew her hand from Shen Jueshu’s shoulder and asked curiously, “How can you stay so calm under an Alpha’s pheromonal pressure?”
According to this world’s logic, Omegas were easily affected by Alpha pheromones. In severe cases, it could even trigger immediate heat. While high-level Omegas weren’t as sensitive to lower-tier Alphas, they still weren’t immune.
Shen Jueshu lifted her gaze and replied calmly, “If you don’t want to be controlled by an Alpha, the only way is to train. Only through constant discipline can you build resistance.”
If she hadn’t been training herself to resist the instinctual submission of Omegas ever since her differentiation, she wouldn’t have been able to reject the original host when they tried to mark her.
After all, an Alpha’s pheromone to an Omega was practically a potent aphrodisiac.
