Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 39.4
She pressed a hand to her burning face and buried it deeper into the pillow. She had a reaction. So why did she still press my head to her neck?!
Now that she knew the truth, there was no way she could casually lick Shen Jueshu’s gland again.
Ughhh… Sui Yu groaned into the pillow. I was practically acting like a perv!
She buried her face even deeper, unable to face herself.
When Shen Jueshu finally came out of the bathroom, she saw Sui Yu curled up like a little turtle, hiding her whole head under the pillow. She couldn’t help but smile—just a little.
She sat on the edge of the bed, looking at the flustered mess next to her. Then she asked, genuinely puzzled, “Are you really an Alpha? Why are you shyer than most Omegas?”
At least Omegas didn’t blush this easily.
That got Sui Yu’s head snapping up, her face completely red. “I haven’t been an Alpha for that long!”
Back in her original world, there weren’t even A/O distinctions!
Shen Jueshu nodded thoughtfully, but she couldn’t help finding the whole thing amusing. Normally, once someone differentiated as an Alpha, their instincts would start to change—the dominance, the possessiveness—it was hardwired into their DNA. It was rare to see one as bashful as Sui Yu.
She lay down beside her and spoke lightly, “You’ll have to get used to this. These things—physiological reactions—they’re completely normal. In this world, most people differentiate by the time they’re sixteen or seventeen. Those who don’t want to rely on suppressants usually find partners early on. It’s as normal as eating or drinking.”
Here, no one treated sex like a taboo topic. It was just part of life.
Sui Yu’s blush slowly faded. She muttered under her breath, “Still, it’s a private thing…”
If only Shen Jueshu hadn’t been so calm about it—if she hadn’t spelled it out so bluntly—maybe she wouldn’t be feeling so weird right now.
That warm buzz in her chest just wouldn’t go away.
Shen Jueshu reached over and turned off the light. In the dark, the faint curve of her lips went unseen.
She wasn’t as calm as she looked. In fact, she was forcing herself to look calm—for Sui Yu’s sake.
She wanted Sui Yu to know she reacted to her touch. She wanted to plant that seed: I would go into heat for you.
Friends don’t feel that way about each other.
Anyone capable of desire was never just a “friend.”
As darkness filled the room, her other senses became more heightened. The scent of Shen Jueshu’s pheromones grew stronger, and Sui Yu felt her mind spin with shame—she could even tell what color underwear Shen Jueshu was wearing just by that subtle scent.
Her embarrassment intensified. She clamped her mouth shut and refused to speak further, feeling that any more words would only add fuel to a fire of ambiguity.
No, she reminded herself firmly. I can’t be ambiguous with Shen Jueshu.
Sui Yu curled deeper under the blankets, thinking to herself with quiet anxiety: Her fated Alpha hasn’t even appeared yet. If I start having feelings for her now, what happens when that person finally shows up? Wouldn’t I be heartbroken?
The more she thought about it, the more convinced she became—and the more tightly she twisted herself into an emotional dead end.
What Sui Yu didn’t know was that, if Shen Jueshu had been aware of her thoughts, she would’ve asked: Why are you so sure you’ll fall for that so-called “fated Alpha”? That person was created by the author’s hand, not your heart.
If she followed only her true feelings, she wasn’t certain she’d ever love that person at all.
Unfortunately, Shen Jueshu didn’t know about Sui Yu’s “fated Alpha,” nor the narrative force behind them. So when she later felt Sui Yu pulling away emotionally, she couldn’t help but wonder: Was I wrong to act so open and honest with her tonight?
The next time Sui Yu’s heat came, she refused—no matter what—to lean against Shen Jueshu’s neck. She kept a strict fifty-centimeter distance, holding herself back and respecting boundaries she hadn’t acknowledged before.
Shen Jueshu didn’t like that at all. She would have preferred Sui Yu be as unrestrained as she was before—honest, needy, close.
When the heat finally passed, Sui Yu found herself facing a new headache: the woman they’d rescued that night at the Bund had somehow latched onto her.
Walking into the company again with Shen Jueshu at her side, she spotted the woman waiting at the entrance like she had been standing there forever. Sui Yu’s temples began to throb.
Why is she clinging to me and not to Shen Jueshu? They had both saved her, and if anything, Shen Jueshu had done more.
Shen Jueshu, of course, noticed the woman. She gave her a cold, sidelong glance as she passed, and her sharp, icy pheromones sliced through the air like a winter wind.
The woman visibly shivered.
Only after Shen Jueshu had left did she seem to recover. She turned toward Sui Yu, eyes slightly red, and said softly, “President Shen’s pheromones are so cold. Don’t you feel uncomfortable around her?”
An Omega with a scent that wasn’t sweet or soothing—but cold and suffocating. What Alpha could possibly like that?
Sui Yu stared at her red-rimmed eyes and instantly regretted not covering her face better that night when the woman’s mother had arrived. Her mother must’ve recognized them on the spot—how else would this woman have found them so precisely?
“Miss, let me tell you something,” Sui Yu said, rolling her eyes. “That cold pheromone you’re complaining about? It shielded you from several Alphas who were about to do something you’d regret that night.”
“And you? Your green tea act is embarrassingly weak. If you’re going to flirt and scheme, at least do your homework first. Right now, you’re just humiliating yourself.”
She’d had enough. Turning to the nearby security guards, she snapped, “If you let her in again, you might as well quit your jobs.”
She was seriously at her limit. What had they saved—a person or a piece of clingy gum?
The woman’s face flushed pale, then green, then red again in sheer frustration. Her delicate, pitiful demeanor dropped instantly as she leaned in close and whispered darkly, “You think this is over just because you’re acting so high and mighty now?”
“Let me tell you—things won’t be that simple. You won’t escape this.”
