Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 39.3
Shen Jueshu looked up in mild exasperation. “Try knocking next time.”
Sui Yu glanced at the already open door and casually closed it. “Right… I’ll remember.”
She had been too shaken to notice the door was open—she just came in.
“What’s the rush?” Shen Jueshu walked over and, sensing Sui Yu’s agitation from her scent, gently pulled her toward the couch to sit down.
The moment Shen Jueshu touched her, Sui Yu calmed—like a startled cat suddenly soothed. She handed over the file. “Remember yesterday, when someone called me out of the room? Those people used to be the original host’s party crowd. They’ve done some shady things. I didn’t want to let it go, so I had Qin Qing dig into their backgrounds. But something’s off—someone’s missing.”
“Missing?” Shen Jueshu glanced up from the documents. “What do you mean?”
Sui Yu’s expression turned grim. “When I entered the private room, I clearly remember there were already eight people inside. I was the ninth. Before leaving, I made an effort to memorize everyone’s faces. I’m sure I didn’t miscount—there were eight Alphas in there.”
“But Qin Qing only found seven profiles. The club staff insists there were only eight people in total—including me. Even the surveillance confirms it. That one man is just… not there.”
Shen Jueshu listened quietly, brows gradually furrowing. “So you think someone’s tampered with the evidence?”
“If so, then the club must’ve been prepared for Qin Qing’s investigation,” Sui Yu said tightly. “But… I don’t think that’s all. I suspect he might have some kind of special ability.”
“Special ability?” Shen Jueshu gently took her hand and started rubbing her knuckles in a soothing motion, her calming pheromones already washing over Sui Yu. “What do you mean?”
Sui Yu met her eyes. Her voice trembled slightly. “What if he has a system? One powerful enough to erase all trace of his existence—to make others believe he was never there?”
The more she said it, the more it terrified her.
Shen Jueshu’s brows knit tighter. “Do systems like that really exist?”
It was clear she didn’t read many novels. So Sui Yu explained, briefly outlining how systems worked in transmigration and world-hopping stories. The more she spoke, the darker Shen Jueshu’s expression became.
If someone really had that kind of system, they would be almost impossible to track or guard against.
“But if that’s the case,” Shen Jueshu asked, “why do you still remember him?”
“That’s what I can’t figure out either,” Sui Yu muttered, brows tightly furrowed. “Maybe… because I’m not from this world? Maybe he can’t fully affect me.”
That was the only explanation she could come up with.
Shen Jueshu squeezed her hand. “Whatever it is, we’ll face it together.”
Those simple words made warmth flood Sui Yu’s chest. She looked at Shen Jueshu, unable to believe how much comfort she found in her. Safety—she had never associated that feeling with anyone before.
She nodded firmly. “Yeah. As long as we’re both okay, I’m not afraid of anything.”
“No matter what,” she added, “maybe it’s time to talk to Uncle Li. The original host said he could be trusted, right? Maybe it’s time we trust her judgment.”
Shen Jueshu was quiet for a moment, then gave a small nod. “Maybe she knew all along that this world was a book.”
Sui Yu exhaled in relief and smiled. “As long as we’re safe, nothing else matters.”
Shen Jueshu smiled too, looking into her bright, smiling eyes. “I’m not afraid either.”
They shared a small, quiet laugh.
In the days that followed, Shen Jueshu was busy rooting out disloyal employees in the company, while Sui Yu focused on exposing the criminal behavior of the people from the club, having them arrested one by one.
Both were caught up in their own battles—but when Sui Yu’s heat period arrived, she didn’t even need to ask. Shen Jueshu was already by her side.
Sui Yu buried herself in the curve of Shen Jueshu’s neck, inhaling the calming scent of her pheromones, eyes fluttering shut in comfort. Lately, Shen Jueshu had been more patient than ever—her tolerance had grown, and her mood seemed softer, more generous.
“Why are you so proactive this time?” Sui Yu mumbled against her neck, lips brushing her gland. “You used to make me beg before you’d come near me. Now you’re volunteering.”
Shen Jueshu gently stroked her hair with one hand, the other clenched tightly in her lap, her throat working as she tried to stay composed.
Maybe it was the constant desire building up inside her—heightened now by Sui Yu’s pheromones—that made her feel like she was about to go into heat herself.
Geranium surrounded her, and Sui Yu’s teeth grazed the sensitive gland at the back of her neck. The tingling sensation shot down her spine. Shen Jueshu closed her eyes slightly.
Why?
Because she couldn’t bear to watch her suffer again.
She didn’t answer. But Sui Yu didn’t mind. Wrapped in Shen Jueshu’s scent, she could sense the effort it took for her to hold back. But she still didn’t understand—what exactly was she trying to suppress?
Was it… the urge to push her away?
Sui Yu suddenly froze mid-lick, her expression stiff. That thought—however absurd—sounded strangely plausible. Shen Jueshu had mellowed out a lot lately, sure… but people didn’t change overnight.
The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt. She slowly began to move away. Better to retreat before she got kicked to the curb and ended up hurting worse.
But before she could even pull back, the hand on the back of her head tightened, forcing her right back into Shen Jueshu’s embrace.
What the hell was this woman doing?
Sui Yu trembled slightly, unsure whether it was from embarrassment or… anticipation.
Eventually, she gave up thinking and simply curled back into Shen Jueshu’s neck, resigned. Fine—if I get slapped for this later, so be it. It wouldn’t be the first time she hit me.
At least this time, the “punishment” might help ease the pain of her heat.
Shen Jueshu held her tightly, eyes closed—but her mind was full of inappropriate thoughts about the woman in her arms. Just imagining them was enough to push her body close to a breaking point.
Sui Yu, still locked in her embrace, started to wonder: Is this how other A/O couples get through a heat cycle without having sex?
Because honestly, holding each other like this… wasn’t much different than ending up in bed.
But in the end, the wave of heat passed. She didn’t get slapped. In fact, her “rank” in Shen Jueshu’s room seemed to have gone up—her spot on the bed now upgraded.
When the haze of heat finally faded, Sui Yu lay on Shen Jueshu’s bed and started rolling around lazily. “This bed is ridiculously comfortable.”
And whether it was psychological or not, she couldn’t help but feel like this bed smelled better than hers. She buried her face in the sheets, breathing in the faint, cool fragrance that belonged to Shen Jueshu.
“If you like it so much, you can sleep here from now on,” Shen Jueshu said casually.
“Eh? That’s not really appropriate, is it? This is your bed.” Sui Yu lifted her head to glance at her. Shen Jueshu was calmly fixing the collar of her rumpled shirt—courtesy of Sui Yu’s earlier restlessness. A sudden flash of exposed skin made Sui Yu’s eyes widen slightly, her heartbeat fluttering strangely.
“You’re already lying in it, aren’t you?” Shen Jueshu looked down at her with a hint of amusement. Seeing her dazed gaze brought a flicker of satisfaction to her eyes. At least she’s not completely indifferent.
Sui Yu blinked, then awkwardly averted her gaze. “That’s different. I’m still in my heat period. If we kept sleeping together afterward, it’d be… weird.”
Even among friends, people didn’t sleep in the same bed every night—let alone two people with different gender designations. That just screamed “ambiguous.”
Shen Jueshu didn’t push the topic. She understood the wisdom of not rushing things.
She finished adjusting her shirt, got up, and opened the wardrobe. From inside, she pulled out a pair of underwear, then calmly walked toward the bathroom.
Sui Yu’s eyes widened in disbelief. Her voice cracked as she stammered, “Y-You… Why are you bringing… t-that… inside?!”
Is she… is she going to do what I think she’s going to do??
Her cheeks turned crimson. She was mortified.
Shen Jueshu turned around, holding up the black underwear. “You mean this? Obviously to change. You don’t actually think someone could get licked there and feel nothing, right?”
“Sui Yu, I’m human. Not a saint.”
And with that, she turned and walked into the bathroom.
Back in the past, when Sui Yu licked her gland, she might’ve only felt annoyance. But now? Now, that desire lingered so strongly in her heart that just being close to Sui Yu made it impossible to feel nothing.
Sui Yu stared at the closed bathroom door, her face steadily growing hotter. She hadn’t expected Shen Jueshu to react at all. The woman was usually so cold and restrained—she had honestly started to wonder if Shen Jueshu was asexual.
But clearly not.
