Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 38.4
Shen Jueshu sat beside Sui Yu and looked at her slightly raised chin, full of pride. Her mood lifted noticeably.
Seems like my looks are exactly her type. That’s definitely a good thing.
The group enjoyed a lively hotpot meal together. The whole time, you could hear Jiang Siyue telling Sui Yu things like, “The meat’s cooked—hurry up and give your sister-in-law some!”
Sui Yu was obedient and genuinely helped Shen Jueshu pick out quite a bit of food. Shen Jueshu, in turn, ate everything Sui Yu placed in her bowl. As a result, by the end of the meal, she felt a little too full.
“You overate?” After Li Yi and the others had left, Sui Yu noticed the discomfort on Shen Jueshu’s face. Worried, she placed her hand on Shen Jueshu’s stomach and gave it a gentle touch. It really did feel a bit bloated.
“Wait here. I’ll go buy you some digestive tablets!”
“No need!” Shen Jueshu suddenly grabbed her hand. “It’s not that bad. Just help me massage it a little.”
“Ah? Oh, okay.” Sui Yu immediately began gently rubbing her stomach, guilt creeping into her voice. “If I had known, I wouldn’t have given you so much food.”
She hadn’t taken into account that Shen Jueshu didn’t have a big appetite.
“I wanted to eat it,” Shen Jueshu said softly. She didn’t want Sui Yu to blame herself. After all, she could have refused the food, but she didn’t—she ate it all willingly.
Sui Yu didn’t respond. She simply focused on massaging Shen Jueshu’s stomach carefully, silently resolving to be more considerate next time.
After a while, Shen Jueshu finally said, “That’s enough. Let’s go home.”
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Sui Yu looked at her stomach, still worried.
Shen Jueshu bit her lip slightly. For some reason, looking at Sui Yu’s anxious expression made her think—Is this what it would feel like if I were actually pregnant and she was looking after me?
The thought flustered her. She quickly looked away and said, “I’m fine. Let’s go.”
With that, she stood up and walked out first, her back to Sui Yu, hiding the growing warmth spreading across her face.
“Eh? Oh.” Sui Yu followed obediently. When they reached the two parked cars, she climbed into Shen Jueshu’s without hesitation and grinned. “I’ll come back for my car later when I have time.”
Shen Jueshu didn’t object. Instead, she handed Sui Yu the keys and switched seats, letting her drive.
Sui Yu accepted the keys naturally. At this point, she was used to it—whenever she was with Shen Jueshu, she was always the one driving.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Li Yi dropped the other three off at the recording base. After making sure they had all gone inside, she stopped her car next to another vehicle parked outside.
She had noticed this car earlier. The others might not know it, but she recognized it—it was a newly purchased vehicle.
As she got out, she confirmed her guess. Inside the car, staring blankly ahead, was Li Jiang. Li Yi tapped on the window to snap her out of it.
Li Jiang turned her head, and the moment she saw who it was, her heart nearly jumped out of her chest. That rumor already reached Li Yi? Is she here to confront me?
Li Yi watched her hesitate to even open the door, growing impatient. She knocked again, harder this time.
That little show of impatience only made Li Jiang panic more. This is bad. Does she think I have feelings for Mo Yu? She didn’t even understand how that rumor started.
She slowly rolled down the window and tried to sound calm. “Sis? What are you doing here?”
Her hands, resting on her lap, were already clenched into tight fists.
“I should be asking you that,” Li Yi replied, narrowing her eyes as she studied her sister. Then she walked around to the passenger side, opened the door, and sat down. “Alright, tell me. Why are you here?”
Her interrogative tone only made Li Jiang more nervous.
“I was just passing by,” she replied stiffly.
“Oh, come on. Keep pretending,” Li Yi said, arms crossed with a mocking smile. “Don’t think I don’t know you’ve been attending every public performance. And from what I’ve heard at the company, you even sponsored this show?”
The tone suggested she hadn’t heard the rumors yet. Li Jiang let out a quiet breath of relief.
“It’s just… work stress. I needed to relax.”
“Really?” Li Yi looked at her with a knowing expression. “You’re not here to see someone in particular? Is it Jiang Siyue? Can’t handle it now that she’s no longer chasing after you?”
“Sis!” Li Jiang said, exasperated. “That’s not it at all.”
She still didn’t like it when Jiang Siyue followed her around. It never suited her.
“Then explain it. If you don’t miss her, why go to all this trouble?” Li Yi wasn’t letting her off the hook.
Li Jiang sighed and gave her a glance. “It’s just… the way she is now reminds me a lot of how she was back in high school.”
“Oh?” Li Yi raised her brows, clearly amused. “So you’re reliving your high school days? Sneaking off to watch her dance?”
Li Jiang: “…”
When she didn’t respond, Li Yi figured she had guessed right. She shook her head and sighed. “Why are you doing this to yourself? You hurt her badly before. Do you really think she’ll give you another chance?”
“I’m not trying to win her back,” Li Jiang said, frowning slightly. Her voice was low. “I just wanted to know… is she only that timid and careful when she’s around me?”
With others, Jiang Siyue was vibrant—like a bold, blooming red rose. But when she was with her, she shrank back, always cautious, always afraid to upset her.
“And? Did you find your answer?” Li Yi asked.
Li Jiang was silent for a moment before answering in a softer voice, “It seems like… she only shines when I’m not around.”
Jiang Siyue was meant for a life like that—bright, confident, full of energy.
Li Yi looked at her little sister, and her heart softened. She reached over to ruffle her hair. “Why do you do this to yourself? You do like her, don’t you?”
“Like her?” Li Jiang echoed. Then, as if recalling something, she said faintly, “No. I don’t like her.”
Someone once told her: Anyone you fall for is destined for bad luck.
