Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 36.3
Shen Jueshu: “…… Exit on the left. Down the stairs. Dish soap’s in the kitchen.”
Sui Yu stifled a laugh, clearly unfazed by the jab. She softened her voice and leaned in, teasing, “Come on, I’m an Alpha who listens to everything you say. Doesn’t that make your heart flutter?”
Flirt mode: activated.
But Shen Jueshu remained unmoved, like she was surrounded by an invisible wall. One was soft and sticky, the other was cool and sharp—put together, it only made Sui Yu seem even more hopelessly cheesy, like someone who needed to be dunked in a bucket of dish soap herself.
Then suddenly, Shen Jueshu smiled faintly. “So, you’ll listen to anything I say?”
Sui Yu was momentarily dazed by the rare curve of her lips. She quickly regained composure and nodded. “Of course!” She even puffed out her chest proudly.
Shen Jueshu’s smile deepened. “Then would you be my dog?”
“Uh…”
Sui Yu blinked, trying to read her face for a hint of joking—but Shen Jueshu was far too good at keeping a straight face. She couldn’t tell if she was being serious or sarcastic.
“Jueshu,” Sui Yu began cautiously, “I think… that kind of request is a little too suggestive. Doesn’t suit our kind of friendship.”
“And hey! Not that I’m judging any of your preferences! I just think we shouldn’t ruin our… pure and wholesome relationship.” She ended with an overly solemn look.
Shen Jueshu: “……”
Sui Yu, thinking the silence meant disapproval, added quickly, “Look, I’m someone with healthy emotional boundaries, okay? Being a dog—there’s no dignity in that.”
So she thinks I’m the dominant one in this dynamic?
Shen Jueshu’s expression grew increasingly complex. She was beginning to regret even saying that. Who would’ve thought a casual line to shut her up would trigger this much overthinking?
Then Sui Yu finally seemed to realize what she’d been rambling about. She let out a squeak and bolted onto the sofa, pulling a pillow over her face. Her cheeks were burning.
What the hell did I just say?! My thoughts aren’t even clean anymore!
Watching her flustered retreat, Shen Jueshu’s lips curled up again.
She asked calmly, “What time tomorrow?”
Eh?
Sui Yu peeked from behind the pillow. Was… was she agreeing to go?
“Eight o’clock!” she said quickly.
Shen Jueshu gave a simple nod and went back to her work.
Watching her, Sui Yu’s lips curved into a quiet smile.
Maybe she’s not that cold after all.
The Next Night, 8 PM
Sui Yu drove Shen Jueshu to the Bund. The area was already crowded—everyone was waiting for the fireworks show.
She had brought an extra jacket over her arm. It was already autumn, and the evening air carried a sharp chill. But Shen Jueshu insisted she wasn’t cold—she even thought wearing a shirt was too much.
Helpless, Sui Yu brought the jacket anyway. And later, she’d be very glad she did.
Shen Jueshu stood on a small hill, the sea breeze tossing her hair. Her gaze was calm and distant.
Sui Yu stood beside her, fussing like an old mother. “Put on the jacket, will you? Don’t catch a cold.”
Even she was feeling chilly.
Shen Jueshu glanced at her, a bit confused by her persistence. Her pheromone type was snow, which naturally made her more resistant to cold.
“You—” she started to reply, but was cut off by a sudden boom.
A dazzling firework exploded in the sky, quickly followed by another and then another, lighting up the night.
Shen Jueshu looked up, her eyes reflecting the vibrant bursts as they bloomed and faded in the sky. Her lips curved into a faint smile.
Honestly, it wasn’t so bad—coming out like this once in a while.
But Sui Yu wasn’t looking at the fireworks.
Her gaze never left Shen Jueshu’s face, softly illuminated by the flickering lights above. In that moment, she looked serene, almost divine—silent, yet impossible to look away from.
Sui Yu felt her heart thump.
No wonder she’s the main character I fell for.
But the peaceful atmosphere didn’t last long.
Not far from them, a sudden commotion erupted—so loud that it pulled everyone’s attention away from the fireworks. It didn’t take long to figure out why.
A heavy wave of pheromones burst through the crowd. Even from where they stood, Sui Yu could clearly smell it—sweet and overwhelming, like ripe oranges.
“Someone’s gone into heat,” she muttered.
And not a mild one.
Her Alpha instincts stirred, her own pheromones subtly reacting to the intense release in the air. For lower-ranked Alphas nearby, the effect was even worse—some of them had already started reacting instinctively, falling into their own heat.
They couldn’t let this spiral out of control.
“Will you be okay on your own? I’m going to check it out,” Sui Yu said to Shen Jueshu.
But the area was already flooded with chaotic pheromones. Leaving Shen Jueshu behind in that environment clearly wasn’t a smart choice. Gritting her teeth, Sui Yu decided to get her to safety first—she had already seen staff heading toward the scene.
“I’m going with you,” Shen Jueshu said, grabbing her wrist and quickly striding toward the source of the chaos. Every second they delayed, that Omega in heat was at greater risk.
Seeing how decisively Shen Jueshu moved, Sui Yu held her hand a little tighter.
When they reached the center of the disturbance, a woman was curled on the ground in visible pain—the source of the rampant pheromones. Around her, several Alphas were already fighting, their instincts kicked into high gear as they battled for the right to claim her.
Shen Jueshu ignored the wild Alphas completely. Taking the jacket from Sui Yu’s hands, she rushed to the Omega, wrapped the coat around her half-torn shirt, and swiftly pulled out a suppressant from her pocket, injecting her without hesitation.
With Shen Jueshu focused on the Omega, Sui Yu turned to deal with the frenzied Alphas. She moved through them, helping the staff separate those who were affected and assisting with the suppressant injections.
Then, seeing the crowd that still lingered around the scene, Sui Yu snapped, “What are you all standing around for?! Want things to get worse?!”
Her top-tier Alpha pheromones lashed out in a crushing wave, overwhelming those around her and forcing them back in fear. One by one, they began to retreat.
The affected Alphas gradually calmed down under the dual pressure of Sui Yu’s pheromones and the suppressants. One by one, they were taken away by friends or staff.
Once the scene was under control, Sui Yu quickly returned to Shen Jueshu—only to find her face flushed with an unnatural redness.
“What’s wrong with you? Why is your pheromone concentration so high too?” she asked, frowning.
The Omega on the ground had started to stabilize after the injection, though she remained unconscious. Shen Jueshu didn’t dare leave her with anyone else just yet and stayed kneeling beside her.
Her head was lowered, both hands clenched tightly against the pavement, her entire body trembling as she struggled to suppress something within herself.
Sui Yu’s heart sank. Just as she reached out to help, Shen Jueshu lifted her left hand and pressed it against Sui Yu’s cheek, forcing her to look at the unconscious woman. Her voice was barely a whisper, squeezed out through gritted teeth:
“Find her family.”
Sui Yu didn’t dare delay. She searched the woman’s body, found her phone, and—ignoring the curious onlookers—used the woman’s fingerprint to unlock it. Scrolling through the contacts, she quickly found one marked Mom and called immediately.
The call was picked up fast. Sui Yu quickly and clearly explained the situation. On the other end, the woman’s mother panicked and said she was nearby—she’d be there right away and begged them to take care of her daughter until she arrived.
Hanging up, Sui Yu checked the woman’s condition one more time. She seemed stable. Then she turned to Shen Jueshu, her voice trembling slightly.
“Is your heat starting too?”
Now that she thought about it—this was about the time Shen Jueshu’s cycle was due.
Shen Jueshu was visibly struggling, her body rigid and shaking. She clung to her last sliver of rationality but refused to let Sui Yu inject her with a suppressant.
Because last time, it had backfired. The suppressant hadn’t worked—it had triggered her heat instead.
Watching Shen Jueshu fight so hard to hold herself together, Sui Yu felt a flash of anger explode in her chest. She yanked off her coat, pulled Shen Jueshu up from the ground, threw the jacket over her shoulders, and shouted,
“You’re in this state and you’re still worried about someone else?!”
How long had she been forcing herself to endure it before Sui Yu even noticed?
Did she not realize how dangerous it was to stay in a place like this, surrounded by unstable pheromones and unaware Alphas?
Looking at Shen Jueshu like this, Sui Yu could admit she was being selfish.
She helped people when she had the capacity to—but never when it meant hurting herself. Her kind of “compassion” was conditional.
Still gritting her teeth, Shen Jueshu rasped, “Wait for her mom to get here…”
“You—!” Sui Yu was nearly driven mad with frustration.
There were so many staff around them. What else could possibly go wrong? The one she really should be worried about was herself!
Shen Jueshu weakly tried to push her away again, her eyes still fixed on the unconscious Omega.
Sui Yu took a deep breath and snapped, “Aren’t you afraid of losing control again? Of what might happen if you relapse?!”
If a top-tier Omega like her lost control now, the fallout would make the earlier chaos look like child’s play.
But just as Sui Yu’s frustration was about to boil over, Shen Jueshu—still trembling from her heat—suddenly smiled.
She looked up, her eyes meeting Sui Yu’s, and in a voice softer than Sui Yu had ever heard from her, she said,
“Aren’t you here?”
Sui Yu froze.
What… did that mean?
Did she really trust her that much?
Just one look at Shen Jueshu’s expression, and the fire in Sui Yu’s chest was completely doused. She clenched her jaw, still wanting to stay angry—but when she looked into those trusting eyes, she found she couldn’t be mad anymore. Not even a little.
With a scowl, she leaned in and exposed her neck gland.
“Fine. If you insist on pushing yourself like this, then go ahead and bite. What else can I do with you?”
In that moment, all her thoughts about Shen Jueshu being noble, calm, and untouchable flew out the window.
Seriously? She has an Alpha right here, and she still chooses to suffer through this in public? What is wrong with her brain?!
When Shen Jueshu shrank back slightly, Sui Yu didn’t hesitate. She reached up, placed her hand behind her head, and forced her closer to her neck.
Her voice was sharp:
“Fine! Let’s pretend I’m begging you. Please bite me, okay? If you don’t, I swear I’ll feel even worse!”
This whole situation should have been Shen Jueshu begging her for help. But somehow, it had flipped—now she was the one pleading.
Where was the justice in that?
But Shen Jueshu finally gave in. She rested her head against Sui Yu’s neck, breathing in the soft scent of geranium from her pheromones. Slowly, her tense body started to relax.
Not long after, a woman—probably in her forties—arrived. She knelt to check the unconscious Omega’s condition and, confirming she was stable, turned to Sui Yu and Shen Jueshu with gratitude written all over her face.
“Thank you so much.”
Sui Yu shook her head.
“It’s alright. Since you’re here now, we’ll leave.”
The woman helped her daughter up and reached for the coat draped over her, hesitating.
“This… do you need it back?”
Without even turning, Sui Yu said coolly,
“No. Just throw it away.”
She didn’t wait for a reply. Wrapping an arm around Shen Jueshu, she helped her away from the crowd. The coat had already been used—it wasn’t something Shen Jueshu would wear again anyway.
Once they got back to the car and shut the doors, sealing themselves in, Sui Yu finally let out a breath of relief.
She looked over and asked,
“Are you okay to hang in there? Should I drive us back?”
Shen Jueshu, a bit more lucid, gave a small nod. While Sui Yu started the engine, she pulled a suppressant from her bag and quietly gave herself an injection.
It was only now—in the privacy of the car, just the two of them—that she dared use it.
As the cold liquid entered her bloodstream, a brief wave of calm washed over her. But moments later, a burning heat surged through her again, almost knocking the breath out of her.
The suppressant still didn’t work.
Even as her body felt like it was melting from the inside out, her heart remained cold and numb.
Does this mean I can never use suppressants again?
Her pheromones exploded.
As the Alpha who had marked her, Sui Yu felt it immediately. Her instincts kicked in—every part of her wanted to get closer, to offer everything Shen Jueshu needed.
She slammed on the brakes and pulled into a quiet, dark alley.
Once she was sure they were alone, she unbuckled her seatbelt and let her pheromones flood out, gently intertwining with Shen Jueshu’s.
She leaned in close and said,
“Stop clenching your teeth. What, are you trying to crack them?”
She swept her long hair aside and exposed her gland—slightly red, a faint imprint of teeth still visible.
Even the bite marks couldn’t be erased. They were like a permanent symbol, a sign that she belonged to someone.
Shen Jueshu stared at the exposed gland—flush with heat, gently throbbing. Her throat moved as she swallowed.
Then, slowly, she leaned in again, pressing her teeth to that familiar spot.
As her canines brushed against Sui Yu’s sensitive skin, Sui Yu’s eyes widened slightly. A thought flashed through her mind—but her body didn’t flinch.
The bite came slow and controlled. A soft sting shot through her, and the snow-like pheromones poured into her again, filling every inch of her senses.
It was overwhelming. It was addictive.
It felt like their souls were intertwining.
Sui Yu’s hands clenched tighter against the seat. Her knuckles turned pale, and her ears flushed so red they looked ready to bleed.
Why does she feel so different this close?
Why does even her breath feel… electrifying?
