Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 36.2
“You know, thinking about it now, why did President Sui even give President Shen 20% of the company in the first place? If not for that, things wouldn’t have reached this point,” someone whispered.
With both of them holding almost equal shares, trying to force the other out was nearly impossible.
“Who knows? Maybe she just wasn’t thinking clearly back then,” someone else muttered. “I mean, Shen Jueshu is a top-tier Omega. Who wouldn’t want to lock her down once they had her? No one really knows what happened between them, but I still can’t figure out why President Sui is treating her like this.”
So many people wanted Shen Jueshu, and yet Sui Yu treated her like she was disposable?!
Regardless of what the company speculated, inside the conference room, Sui Yu and Shen Jueshu were already at each other’s throats.
Well—perhaps not yelling, but the tension between them was so thick that everyone in the room felt suffocated. Shen Jueshu sat ice-cold, repeating the same four words: “I don’t agree.” Meanwhile, Sui Yu’s expression darkened, fury flickering in her eyes as she coldly snapped, “Shen Jueshu, don’t forget whose company this is!”
Still unmoved, Shen Jueshu responded in an even colder tone, “I don’t care whose company it is. As long as I’m a shareholder, I won’t approve a proposal that harms the company.”
The atmosphere was rapidly becoming explosive. The rest of the board members exchanged nervous glances and quickly stepped in to defuse the situation.
“These are just proposals. Let’s all calm down and figure out the best option together,” one said diplomatically.
Chairman Yuan even walked over to Sui Yu and placed a hand on her shoulder. There was deep concern in his eyes. “Clearly we won’t be resolving anything today. Let’s adjourn and reconvene when everyone’s calmer.”
Chairman Yuan was a veteran of the company. His words carried weight, so the other board members began to leave.
“You two stay behind,” he added, directing his gaze toward Sui Yu and Shen Jueshu.
Both women stiffened but obediently remained seated.
Once the room cleared, Chairman Yuan looked at them with open disappointment. It was hard to hide.
“What on earth is going on between you two?”
He truly didn’t understand. Not long ago, they’d seemed so close—so in sync. How had things deteriorated this quickly?
Neither woman spoke. They couldn’t tell him the truth. They didn’t know whether he genuinely cared or was testing them. This plan was something only the two of them could know.
Seeing their silence, Chairman Yuan’s expression fell even further. He sighed and shook his head.
“If you keep this up, you’ll drag the entire company into chaos. How is anyone supposed to work like this?”
Still, they said nothing. When they first devised this plan, they’d considered the consequences. A bit of short-term turbulence was worth it if it meant long-term stability.
“Xiao Yu, can you really bear to watch everything your grandfather built fall apart like this?!” Chairman Yuan’s voice rose as he slammed the table with both fists.
Sui Yu had no answer. She could only sigh. “The company’s fine, Grandpa Yuan. Who says it’s falling apart?”
“But if you keep fighting like this, how long can it stay fine?!” he snapped.
Her heart ached. She didn’t know what else to say.
“Chairman Yuan,” Shen Jueshu suddenly said. “Please give us one more month. Within a month, we’ll resolve this completely and give the company back its peace.”
Both Chairman Yuan and Sui Yu turned to look at her.
But Shen Jueshu met their eyes with calm determination.
Chairman Yuan slowly composed himself, frowning. “And how exactly do you plan to resolve it?”
“This is a personal matter between us,” Shen Jueshu replied seriously. “I hope you’ll allow us to handle it privately.”
Sui Yu blinked. This woman was good. With just those two sentences, she’d managed to hint that their relationship was truly falling apart—without ever saying it outright.
Seeing how neither of them would open up, Chairman Yuan finally stormed out, muttering under his breath. He was clearly fed up.
Once he was gone, only the two of them remained in the conference room.
Sui Yu lowered her voice. “I think he really cares about the company.”
Chairman Yuan had helped her grandfather build the company from the ground up. His emotions weren’t fake—he must love Sui He deeply. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been so angry with them.
“Mm,” Shen Jueshu replied softly. She didn’t say much more.
They each returned to their respective offices. But after Chairman Yuan’s outburst, everyone in the company knew the two of them had been held back for a private conversation. It wasn’t hard to guess they’d gotten a lecture.
So when their behavior turned a little less aggressive, no one thought it strange—they simply assumed they’d been told to dial it down out of respect for their elder.
Sui Yu, honestly, was relieved. Having to play the villain in front of so many people was exhausting. Arguing with Shen Jueshu like that took serious acting chops!
Later, through someone who had been watching Gu Ying, they learned that the moment he was released, he went straight to find Lan Xin. After learning the full truth, Gu Ying was practically choking on rage. He hadn’t expected Sui Yu to come up with such a vicious plan—and worse, it had worked perfectly on him!
There were no photos, but Sui Yu could easily imagine his face turning all kinds of colors. She was even in the mood to transfer Lan Xin the final payment—after all, she had played her part beautifully and helped bring the plan to fruition. Sui Yu wasn’t the type to stiff someone who’d done a good job.
As for what others thought of her? She couldn’t care less.
Her reputation was already bad—what’s a little worse?
Maybe it was because everything had been going so smoothly lately, but Sui Yu had been in an especially good mood. And when someone’s in a good mood, they inevitably want to stir things up a little.
She found Shen Jueshu and said cheerfully, “There’s going to be a fireworks show at the Bund tomorrow night. Let’s go watch it together?”
Shen Jueshu, still immersed in work, looked up at her with a glance and replied after a pause, “You have too much free time?”
Sui Yu blinked. “It’s called work-life balance.”
Shen Jueshu: “……”
“Come on, let’s go! Don’t you get bored staying in here every single day? You need some fresh air every now and then!” Sui Yu pleaded in earnest.
Shen Jueshu’s grip on her pen tightened. She forced a slightly stiff smile and said, “If you were a bit more capable at your job, maybe I’d have the time to breathe some fresh air too.”
Sui Yu had stormed into the company with grand declarations, snatching up a load of responsibilities. But when it came down to actually doing the work, she wasn’t particularly good at it—which meant Shen Jueshu ended up fixing it all anyway.
Sui Yu: “……”
She lowered her head and rubbed her nose, a little guilty. It wasn’t like she meant to be bad at it.
After all, she’d gone straight from graduation into a research institute. She had no experience dealing with cutthroat companies, and she barely understood how most corporate procedures worked.
“How about… you teach me?” she said sheepishly.
Shen Jueshu gave her a sideways glance, then lowered her head and returned to her work. Her voice was calm but laced with sarcasm. “Teaching someone as slow as you would take more time than just doing the work myself.”
Sui Yu widened her eyes. “Excuse me? Are you calling me stupid?”
She had been fast-tracked through school, okay? If she was considered stupid, then the world couldn’t have many smart people left!
Hearing her indignant tone, Shen Jueshu’s lips curved slightly. She was clearly enjoying this.
“I saw that smirk!” Sui Yu accused, narrowing her eyes.
The smile vanished instantly. Shen Jueshu looked up at her with a perfectly blank face. “Which eye of yours saw me smile?”
“Both of them!” Sui Yu shot back. Then, dramatically flipping her bangs, she fluttered her eyelashes and said, “It’s okay if you smile. I’m not going to stop you. A beauty’s smile is enough to make me do anything.”
