Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 34.4
After making a quick call, Sui Yu drove straight over to the agency. The director personally came down to greet her.
“President Sui, is there something urgent that brought you here in person?” The director was visibly nervous. After all, Sui Yu was now the boss’s wife. And while Shen Jueshu rarely got involved in the company’s day-to-day operations, her presence still carried weight. Now that Sui Yu had suddenly appeared, he was understandably anxious.
“It’s nothing serious,” Sui Yu replied calmly. “I just need your help finding a good-looking male Omega actor. Also, two photographers.”
Though she’d told Shen Jueshu she’d handle it herself, she wasn’t stupid enough to ignore available resources.
“Excuse me?” the director blinked, visibly caught off guard. Then, a trace of doubt appeared on his face. “President Sui… may I ask what this is for?”
Why specifically a male Omega? Was she… planning something disloyal to President Shen?
The mere thought made his knees go weak. If this was something underhanded, and Shen Jueshu found out, wouldn’t he, the one who provided the actor, get dragged down too?
“President Sui,” he said carefully, his voice low, “our company’s artists are all serious professionals. They don’t… do anything outside of acting.”
Sui Yu looked at him oddly. “What are you even talking about?”
“I’m filming a microfilm,” she explained. “And don’t worry—when I return him, he’ll be in perfect condition.”
What the heck had this guy been thinking?
The director let out a huge sigh of relief and laughed awkwardly. “Ah, I see! That’s no problem at all! Just tell me what kind of actor you’re looking for—you can take your pick!”
He immediately called for someone to bring in the profiles of all the male Omega actors in their roster.
Sui Yu sat down in the director’s office and carefully flipped through the portfolio one by one. After some time, she selected one who bore a striking resemblance to Gu Ying—both in looks and overall vibe.
“Perfect. He’s the one. As long as he performs well, compensation won’t be an issue,” she said with satisfaction.
“Absolutely, absolutely! I’ll have him come meet you right away!” the director said excitedly. When he saw the name she chose, he breathed a quiet sigh of relief. At least it wasn’t one of their busiest stars—otherwise, rescheduling would’ve been a nightmare.
Who knew how long this microfilm project might take?
Not long after, the selected actor arrived. When Sui Yu saw him in person, she was even more satisfied with her choice. But what she didn’t realize was that, from the actor’s perspective, things were… a bit different.
Being openly scrutinized by an Alpha like this—especially one as famously bold as Sui Yu—made him incredibly nervous. Her eyes weren’t exactly… subtle. It gave the impression she was sizing him up for something other than acting.
Could it be… she’s interested in me? he wondered.
An Alpha, looking at an Omega with that kind of intensity—it had to mean something, right? Especially this Alpha, with her playboy reputation…
“You’re Ning Huai, right?” Sui Yu said as she looked up at him. “I’m filming a short project, and I want you as the male lead. Do you think you’re up for it?”
She was sitting down, but her presence didn’t falter for a second. Even though he was standing, she still had a commanding aura that made it hard for him to hold her gaze.
When she mentioned filming a microfilm, Ning Huai hesitated for a moment. Then he looked at the powerful woman in front of him and made up his mind.
This could be the opportunity he’d been waiting for.
If he didn’t grab it now, who knew how long he’d have to wait for his big break?
“I can do it!”
Hearing Ning Huai’s resolute answer, Sui Yu was even more satisfied. Now it was time to move forward.
She arranged for Ning Huai and the two photographers to stay at one of the properties left behind by the original host. Once settled, she began explaining the concept for the microfilm she wanted to direct. The plot itself wasn’t particularly important—what mattered was that they follow her instructions exactly.
Given the pay she was offering, no one asked unnecessary questions. They just did what she said.
Next, Sui Yu took her team to stake out a company building—right at rush hour. When the woman she’d been waiting for appeared, Sui Yu quickly stepped forward to stop her. Seeing the frightened look on the woman’s face, she immediately explained, “My name is Sui Yu. I know this is sudden, but I’d like to ask if you’d consider being the lead actress in our microfilm.”
As she spoke, she pulled out her phone and showed the woman one of her own blog posts. Pointing to a photo, she said, “Our company’s been trying to make a microfilm to submit to a festival, but we haven’t found the right actress. When we saw this photo online, we knew immediately—you’re the one we’ve been looking for. That’s why we came straight to find you.”
“Oh, right. This is our male lead.” She yanked Ning Huai forward.
He quickly gave a warm, polished smile, looking every bit the part.
The woman, Lan Xin, looked between the two of them, and then at the cameramen behind them. Still, she was clearly skeptical.
Sui Yu handed over her business card with a sincere expression. “If you’re unsure, feel free to look up Red Maple Media. His name is Ning Huai—you can verify everything.”
“Miss Lan, we’d really appreciate your consideration. This film is important to us, and we’re offering generous compensation.”
She pointed to the card in Lan Xin’s hand. “But we can only give you three days to decide. The project’s already been delayed too long. If you turn it down, we’ll have to find someone else immediately.”
Lan Xin hesitated, uncertain.
Sui Yu didn’t push. She just gave her a polite nod and left with her team.
She was confident Lan Xin would call.
Her mother was in the hospital, waiting on surgery. The cost had already been calculated. A dutiful daughter like Lan Xin wouldn’t miss an opportunity like this.
Sui Yu knew it was manipulative, preying on someone’s sense of responsibility. But it was still the most ethical option she had.
Sure enough, the next day Lan Xin called. Her voice was cautious as she asked what kind of microfilm it was.
Sui Yu finally relaxed. “Don’t worry, it’s just a romance story. The male lead courts the female lead, and your job is to portray someone who starts off calm, then gradually becomes moved, and eventually falls in love.”
“…What?” Lan Xin clearly hadn’t expected something so… emotional. Wasn’t this supposed to be an award-oriented project?
Sui Yu cleared her throat. “We want to portray love in its simplest, most beautiful form. Even quiet love can stir the soul, don’t you think?”
Lan Xin: “……”
Seeing that she’d gone silent, Sui Yu offered gently, “Why don’t you try a scene first? Then you can decide.”
Lan Xin’s guard dropped a little after that. They agreed on a time to meet for a trial shoot.
Lan Xin was a beta, so she wasn’t sensitive to pheromones. Even when Sui Yu and the others approached from behind, she didn’t notice until Sui Yu spoke, startling her into turning around.
She was adorable—still had a bit of baby fat on her cheeks, which made her look even more doll-like.
Sui Yu didn’t waste time. She explained the plot and asked her to get familiar with Ning Huai. At first, the chemistry wasn’t there—they were stiff and awkward. But Sui Yu didn’t rush them. After filming for quite a while, they finally started to click. Bit by bit, the scenes began to take on the emotional tone Sui Yu was looking for.
Satisfied, she asked again if Lan Xin would accept the role. Upon hearing her agreement, Sui Yu wired her 300,000 yuan as a deposit—exactly the amount she needed for her mother’s surgery. It was enough to keep her at ease and fully focused on filming.
Once Lan Xin had arranged everything with the hospital, they began shooting in earnest. But each day, after filming wrapped, Sui Yu would take the edited footage down to the basement—where Gu Ying was.
And just as she had hoped, his reaction to seeing Lan Xin was intense.
The moment he saw her on screen, his entire demeanor changed. His eyes turned bloodshot as he stared at the monitor. “What are you doing?” he demanded.
Sui Yu twirled the remote in her hand with a cold smile. “Just thought you might like to see how her love life is going these days.”
“I picked that actor especially for her. What do you think—do you think she’ll fall for him?”
“Tragic, isn’t it? Watching her slowly fall for someone else… never realizing she’s just a pawn in someone else’s game. And when the game ends? She’ll be discarded.”
She smiled cruelly, watching Gu Ying fall apart.
“Sui Yu! If you hurt her, I swear I won’t let you go!”
Sui Yu rolled her eyes, shaking her head. “Too late. Besides, didn’t you fail to win her over yourself? That love you couldn’t have—now you’re forced to watch someone else take it. Doesn’t that sting?”
Gu Ying clenched his teeth so hard his jaw trembled. He knew exactly what Sui Yu was doing—she was trying to break him. But every time he saw that man, so similar to him, getting closer to Lan Xin… he lost control.
Even though he refused to talk, Sui Yu didn’t mind. Every day, she brought him more video clips. She’d chip away at him slowly—until he cracked.
What she hadn’t expected was just how deeply Gu Ying actually cared about Lan Xin. It was almost… disturbingly genuine.
Still, she wasn’t in a rush. Long-term strategy was her strength. Just like pursuing someone, the harder the target, the longer the chase. And this particular “film” would need quite a few more scenes.
Later that day, Sui Yu lounged on the couch playing video games when Shen Jueshu came home. Her gaze swept over Sui Yu, sharp and cool.
“You’ve been out messing around again?” she asked flatly.
With her constantly coming and going, early mornings and late nights—it certainly looked like she was up to something shady.
