Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 34.1
After quietly mulling things over, Sui Yu let go of her worries and simply decided to enjoy the peaceful moment. Who knew how long she’d be able to live this kind of calm, easy life?
The two of them hadn’t been sitting in the café long when someone else walked in. While everyone else had shown up to the competition in casual, comfortable clothes, only Li Jiang looked like she was headed straight into a high-level corporate meeting—sharp suit, heels, and a full formal ensemble. She stuck out like a sore thumb.
Because Jiang Siyue had been hurt because of her, Sui Yu couldn’t help but feel a little distant from Li Jiang, even though, logically, she knew she hadn’t done anything truly wrong.
Li Jiang clearly didn’t expect to see them either and paused for a second. Then, with her long legs, she strode confidently toward their table and—ignoring Sui Yu’s stunned expression—sat herself down right next to her, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. She casually greeted Shen Jueshu with a faint smile.
Sui Yu: “…”
Why did she suddenly feel like a background character?
No one cared about her opinion at all!
“You’re here with your sister?” Shen Jueshu asked, pushing a small dessert toward Sui Yu while addressing Li Jiang.
“Mm. I didn’t feel comfortable letting her come alone,” Li Jiang replied as she signaled for the server and placed her order. Then she turned to Sui Yu, who had started eating the dessert, and asked, “Did you come here with President Shen?”
Clearly, she was surprised that Shen Jueshu would attend something like this.
“No,” Shen Jueshu said calmly, taking a sip of her bitter coffee. “The company signed quite a few promising talents this year, so I came to check them out.”
Hearing that, Sui Yu looked up at her with an expression that practically said: You’re seriously still pretending?
Li Jiang gave a knowing look, but whether she believed it or not wasn’t clear.
Her coffee soon arrived—pure black and bitter enough to jolt a person into madness.
Sui Yu stared at the two of them with mixed feelings. Honestly, if it weren’t for that so-called fated Alpha, Li Jiang probably would’ve been the most suitable person for Shen Jueshu. Even their coffee preferences matched—both liked this kind of bitter, tongue-curling black coffee.
“So why aren’t you with your sister? You came out here by yourself?” Sui Yu asked, raising an eyebrow. But the way her words landed, they came across with a bit of passive-aggressiveness.
Li Jiang, unfazed, gave a small smile. “She said I was in the way.”
No one wanted someone who knew everything hanging around while they were trying to get close to someone they liked.
Sui Yu: “…”
She was so honest that Sui Yu didn’t even know how to keep being annoyed with her.
Shen Jueshu sat across from them, sipping her coffee, eyes quietly shifting between the two. There was something odd about their dynamic—a subtle tension, like two sharp blades just barely not touching.
Sui Yu’s reactions made sense, given what had happened with Jiang Siyue. But as someone who had known Li Jiang for years, Shen Jueshu could still sense that Li Jiang, behind her calm exterior, had a certain… edge toward Sui Yu.
Had something else happened between them?
The three sat and chatted—though “chatted” might be generous. Most of the time, it was Shen Jueshu and Li Jiang talking, but even then, both were naturally quiet types. So, most of their time together was spent in a heavy, suffocating silence.
The only one suffocating, though, was Sui Yu.
Those two seemed perfectly content in the silence, like they were used to it.
Sui Yu: “…”
She glanced over at Li Jiang’s indifferent expression and found herself genuinely frustrated. No wonder she couldn’t become Shen Jueshu’s Alpha in the book. With the way she expressed affection—who was she going to win over? Who stays cold and distant with the person they like, barely saying a word?
No wonder she was doomed to be a forever-single Alpha.
After what felt like ages, Jiang Siyue and the others finally arrived. The group moved to a larger table, ordered more drinks, and settled into new seats—but the arrangement was… awkward.
Shen Jueshu, Sui Yu, and Jiang Siyue sat on one side.
Mo Yu, Li Yi, and Li Jiang sat on the other.
That meant Jiang Siyue and Li Jiang were sitting directly across from each other!
Now that everyone was seated, it would’ve been weird to suddenly ask to switch spots. In the end, Jiang Siyue had no choice but to endure it. She leaned so far back into her chair she looked like she was trying to merge with it.
Of course, Li Jiang noticed this. She glanced at her with an unreadable expression but said nothing. In fact, this distance was probably exactly what she used to want.
Jiang Siyue sat across from Li Jiang, trying to keep her composure, but seeing Li Jiang’s cold, indifferent expression still made her heart ache. Even though she’d told herself to let go, actually sitting face-to-face like this made the pain resurface. It stung more than she expected.
Sui Yu noticed her mood shift right away. She gently pushed Siyue’s favorite dessert in front of her, silently telling her to focus on something else—just eat, don’t think too much.
“This competition ends with a three-day break. Want to go somewhere together?” Li Yi turned to Mo Yu and asked softly. After that, they’d be heading into three months of closed filming.
Mo Yu shook her head and said quietly, “I just want to stay with you. I don’t want to go anywhere.”
It was only three days. She didn’t want to be apart from Li Yi for even one of them. After that, they wouldn’t be able to see each other freely anymore.
Seeing her girl so attached, Li Yi’s heart melted. She smiled and nodded.
Li Jiang wasn’t surprised. She’d seen this dynamic before. What surprised her more was Shen Jueshu, who clearly didn’t expect Li Yi to be so openly affectionate. From what Li Jiang had said before, her older sister was always reserved, proud, and composed. But the Li Yi in front of them now looked like she’d walked straight out of a romance manga—all pink bubbles and gentle smiles.
Since most of them weren’t particularly close, the group split up after some polite chatting.
Once Li Jiang and the others had left, Sui Yu turned to see Jiang Siyue still looking a bit down. She patted her on the shoulder. “You’ve come so far compared to before. Cheer up. You have fans now. If someone catches you looking this gloomy outside, what’ll they think?”
Jiang Siyue took a deep breath and forced herself to perk up. She gave her cheeks a light slap, trying to shake off the emotions, then turned to Shen Jueshu. “Sister-in-law, we’ve got three days off. Want to go to the beach with us?”
Shen Jueshu raised an eyebrow. “Haven’t you been to the beach enough already?”
This was a coastal city. She’d grown up seeing the sea—there was nothing new or exciting about it anymore.
Jiang Siyue was about to argue when a black car pulled up next to her. The back window slowly rolled down, revealing a man’s face—familiar, calm, and well-dressed. He looked directly at her, his expression unreadable.
The moment she saw him, the smile dropped from her face. Her shoulders stiffened, and she said quietly, “Brother.”
It was Jiang Boshan, the eldest son of the Jiang family. He gave a warm, polite smile. “You haven’t come home in a while. Mom and Dad miss you. Come back and visit them.”
As he spoke, his gaze shifted to Sui Yu and Shen Jueshu. “What a coincidence, seeing you both here.”
Jiang Siyue’s face darkened slightly. Her hands clenched behind her back. “I have things to do. I’ll go back when I have time.”
Sui Yu and Shen Jueshu stood behind her, silently observing the tension. Sui Yu’s eyes narrowed as she looked at the man in the car. Something about him rubbed her the wrong way.
He looked polite enough on the surface, but the longer she looked, the more off he seemed. His eyes held something sharp, dangerous—like a predator wearing a gentleman’s smile.
“Siyue,” Jiang Boshan’s voice dropped slightly, just enough to hint at displeasure.
Jiang Siyue flinched. Her instinct almost made her agree to go with him—until Shen Jueshu spoke up.
“President Jiang,” she said calmly, “Siyue already made plans with us to go to the beach. Surely you wouldn’t want her to cancel, would you?”
Jiang Boshan glanced at Shen Jueshu, then at Sui Yu. With the Shen and Sui families now aligned, he had to tread carefully. He couldn’t afford to offend either of them. Still, he’d come all this way and wasn’t about to walk away without saying what he needed to say.
