Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 33.3
Because Siyue hadn’t had much public exposure before—aside from the audition stage—her fanbase was still very small. That stage had been impressive, sure, but compared to trainees who’d been training and appearing publicly for years, Siyue’s followers were still painfully few.
As Sui Yu was about to leave, she saw Shen Jueshu still sitting in the downstairs living room.
“You’re not at work yet?” Sui Yu asked in surprise. Usually, by this time, Shen Jueshu would’ve already left.
Shen Jueshu looked up. She wore a glittery headband, had glow sticks on her wrist, and was holding a pile of support merchandise. She looked exactly like a hardcore fan girl ready for action.
“There are a few artists from our company in the competition,” she said after a brief pause. “They suggested I go observe.”
Sui Yu: “…”
She wasn’t sure why, but something about this felt off. It was just a competition—did it really require the big boss herself to go “observe”?
“…Okay then,” Sui Yu said after a pause. “Since you’re going anyway, help cheer for Siyue. Poor kid barely has any fans. She needs all the support she can get.”
With that, Sui Yi handed her some of the extra fan gear and helped her put glow stick bracelets on her wrist, matching Sui Yu’s own.
Shen Jueshu’s expression cooled a little, but in the end, she didn’t refuse.
On the way to the event, Sui Yu hummed a light tune. Shen Jueshu hadn’t heard it before, so she asked, “Did you write that?”
“Huh?” Sui Yu glanced at her, then burst into laughter. “What made you think I have that kind of artistic talent? It’s not mine—it’s a song from my world.”
With her tone-deaf singing, there was no way she could write music.
Shen Jueshu gave a quiet “hmm” in response and didn’t ask any further.
When they arrived at the venue, people were already lining up to enter. Sui Yu grabbed Shen Jueshu by the wrist, worried they might get separated in the crowd. Shen Jueshu looked down at Sui Yu’s hand on her wrist but let her pull her along through the crowd until they were inside and seated.
“Good thing Siyue saved you a ticket,” Sui Yu muttered. Siyue really knew how to plan ahead—even after Shen Jueshu had flat-out rejected her invitation, she still reserved a seat, just in case.
Shen Jueshu didn’t respond. Even without a ticket from Siyue, she had her own ways of getting in.
Once seated, Sui Yu started scanning the venue, searching for someone—but the lights were dim, and the mix of fan colors made it hard to see anything clearly.
“What are you looking for?” Shen Jueshu asked, noticing her behavior.
“Li Yi,” Sui Yu answered before giving up and pulling her gaze back.
“Li Yi?” Shen Jueshu frowned slightly. “Why would she be here?” She knew the woman, of course—she was friends with Li Jiang, and Li Jiang, being the overprotective sister she was, often bragged about her.
Sui Yu glanced around, leaned in close, and whispered near her ear, “One of the contestants is her girlfriend.”
Then she pulled back, giving her an innocent blink, deliberately not saying who.
Shen Jueshu felt the warmth of her breath brushing against her ear. She glanced sideways. “…Mo Yu?”
Sui Yu blinked even more innocently.
That sealed it—Shen Jueshu knew she was right. She sighed and rubbed her forehead, suddenly feeling a headache coming on. How did her company end up with two potential PR disasters?
Mo Yu was by far the most talented of the newly signed rookies and had the highest chance of winning the competition. And yet, she was dating someone behind the scenes?
As for Jiang Siyue… well, with her reputation, who knew how the public would react once more people noticed her?
Seeing her stressed-out expression, Sui Yu patted her shoulder with a grin. “Relax, relax. They both know what they’re doing.”
Yeah, right.
If Shen Jueshu weren’t trying to keep her cool, she would’ve rolled her eyes. If they really had good judgment, Mo Yu wouldn’t have let Sui Yu find out about their relationship in the first place.
But seeing that she hadn’t exploded, Sui Yu let out a quiet sigh of relief.
“They’ll be careful,” she said softly. “They won’t let it leak—not at the wrong time.”
At the moment, Jiang Siyue didn’t need to worry too much—her reputation couldn’t really get any worse. The one who truly needed to be cautious was Mo Yu. Still, with Li Yi supporting her, she likely had plenty of protection.
Shen Jueshu no longer felt like talking. What she was thinking about now was how to prepare her company staff so they wouldn’t be caught off guard by any sudden exposés.
With neither of them speaking, the two simply sat in silence, watching the stage. Before long, the host appeared and officially announced the start of the competition.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the venue, Li Yi looked down at her phone and smiled softly at the message from her girl. She quickly typed back a reassuring reply, telling Mo Yu not to be nervous.
Sitting next to her, Li Jiang rolled her eyes at how clingy they were. “Sis, you’re going to see each other in a bit. Do you really need to keep texting like that?”
Seriously, those two never got tired of messaging each other.
Li Yi put her phone away and gave her cousin a long, meaningful look. With a sigh, she said, “Jiang Jiang, when are you going to find someone for yourself? You’re always glued to my side. No one even dares to approach you.”
Whenever the two of them were out together, people often mistook them for a couple. It had unintentionally scared off a good number of Li Yi’s romantic prospects.
Li Jiang let out a small sigh. “You know I’m happy being by myself. I don’t think I could be with anyone, even if I wanted to.”
“If that’s really how you feel, then I support you,” Li Yi said sincerely. “But you don’t always have to be so strict with yourself. Sometimes it’s okay to enjoy life a little. There’s nothing shameful about having desires. What is harmful is forcing yourself to suppress them too much—it might backfire.”
She genuinely meant it. Her cousin was amazing in so many ways, but she held herself back too tightly.
Li Jiang had spent her whole life hiding her preferences. Even if she loved a dish, she wouldn’t eat more than a bite. Even if she adored a toy, she’d give it away the moment someone else said they wanted it. Over time, she’d crafted the image of someone who had no attachments at all.
She never wanted anyone to know what she liked or disliked. She built herself into a wall, and Li Yi often wondered why her cousin was so harsh with herself.
“Yi-jie,” Li Jiang said helplessly, “I’m not trying to be hard on myself. Honestly, I think I’m fine like this.”
As long as no one could see her vulnerabilities, they couldn’t use them against her.
Li Yi was momentarily at a loss for words. After a pause, she just sighed and let it go. In the end, it was Li Jiang’s life. What mattered most was whether she felt comfortable living it.
Back in the audience, everyone was focused on the performances. Sui Yu sat with both hands politely folded on her lap. No matter how exciting the acts were, unless Jiang Siyue was on stage, she didn’t raise her hands or cheer along.
Compared to her, Shen Jueshu looked utterly bored. She only paid attention when someone from her own agency was performing. The rest of the time, her eyes often drifted toward Sui Yu.
She really hadn’t expected Sui Yu to enjoy shows like this. Judging by her behavior, she must’ve been a regular viewer before.
“What did you do in your old world?” Shen Jueshu asked, unable to hold back her curiosity.
“Me?” Sui Yu turned to her with a smile. “I studied neuroscience.”
