Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 30.3
It made her deeply uneasy.
“Let’s go back to the original room,” Sui Yu said.
Shen Jueshu nodded.
When they returned, the laptop had charged a little. Sui Yu opened it—and was immediately greeted by a lock screen.
Sui Yu: “…”
Shen Jueshu: “…”
“What’s the password?” Sui Yu asked, genuinely unsure.
“Try her birthday,” Shen Jueshu suggested.
It wasn’t unusual for a laptop to have a password, but at that moment, the timing felt a bit ironic.
Sui Yu typed in: 390715
Incorrect password.
Sui Yu rubbed her forehead. Given the original’s personality, she wouldn’t be surprised if the device was set to auto-wipe after three failed attempts. That meant… they had just two tries left.
Shen Jueshu seemed to realize the same thing. She pulled out her phone, ready to call in a tech expert to hack into it.
“Wait. Let me try once more,” Sui Yu said suddenly.
She looked up at Shen Jueshu and gave a faint smile. “Maybe… it’s your birthday.”
Knowing how much the original Sui Yu had loved Shen Jueshu, it wasn’t impossible that she had used her birthday as the password.
She typed: 401119
The computer unlocked successfully.
Seeing the desktop load, Shen Jueshu was speechless: “…”
Sui Yu shook her head slightly. If the original Sui Yu’s feelings for Shen Jueshu hadn’t gone to such extremes—if she had just pursued her normally—maybe things wouldn’t have turned out this way. Maybe Shen Jueshu would’ve even fallen for her.
On the desktop, there was only a single video file. Nothing else. Sui Yu didn’t even have the energy to be surprised anymore.
So the original didn’t even bother to hide it. What if this laptop had ended up in someone else’s hands?
She clicked the video. The screen stayed black for a few seconds before a voice—her voice—came through. But there was no image, no face.
“I don’t know when you’ll see this video. But I know one thing—by the time you do, I’m probably already gone.”
“It’s kind of funny, really. I was the one who made all this happen… and yet, even knowing that, I still feel unwilling to let go. All of this… it should’ve been mine.”
“I know you must have a lot of questions. But I’m sorry—I can’t answer most of them. The more I say, the more likely something strange will intervene and derail the plan.”
“All I can tell you is—Uncle Li is someone you can trust. If there’s anything you can’t handle on your own, go to him.”
“And also… take care of Shen Jueshu for me. Don’t be like I was.”
Her voice dropped at that part—low and full of regret.
“Shen Jueshu, for the pain I caused you… I can’t make it right. And I don’t expect you to forgive me. But still… I wanted to say it: I’m sorry.”
“Goodbye… to the person I loved most, and… to the other me.”
The video ended, and the progress bar reached the end.
Sui Yu sat motionless, staring at the now-silent screen.
She’d had her suspicions—but she hadn’t truly expected it. The original had known she would take over this body. And from her words, this whole situation had been… orchestrated?
She had arranged for this to happen?
But how? And why?
Sui Yu lowered her head and pressed her hands to her temples. Her mind was spinning.
What did she mean, “the other me”? How did she know there was someone so similar to her in another world?
Suddenly, a hand rested gently on her head—cool to the touch, soft and careful. It began to slowly rub her hair. Shen Jueshu’s calm voice came from beside her.
“There are still a lot of questions left unanswered.”
Everyone seemed to be hiding something. As if they were all terrified someone might uncover the truth.
“Do you think… maybe your grandfather was right?” Sui Yu asked quietly. “Maybe it really is better to stop digging?”
She just couldn’t understand—why did the original bring her here? And why the apology to Shen Jueshu? Was it about the forced marriage?
Shen Jueshu fell silent.
Neither of them spoke for a while after that. Eventually, Sui Yu deleted the video and shut the laptop, then turned to Shen Jueshu.
“Let’s go.”
This was too much. She needed time to process.
Shen Jueshu nodded.
As they walked downstairs, Uncle Li was already waiting for them in the foyer, as if he had known exactly when they’d be ready to leave.
Sui Yu looked at his ever-gentle smile and thought of what the original had said—that he could be trusted. But even now, she wasn’t ready to put him in the “ally” column just yet.
“Miss. Madam,” Uncle Li greeted warmly.
They both nodded in return.
Sui Yu said, “Please arrange for someone to clean everything from the second floor up.”
She had come to realize that the only thing truly valuable in this house was that video file on the laptop.
“Of course,” Uncle Li replied with a slight bow.
Sui Yu took Shen Jueshu’s hand and led her toward the door. She had a feeling she wouldn’t be coming back to this place anytime soon.
“Miss!”
Uncle Li suddenly called out from behind.
Sui Yu stopped but didn’t turn around.
“Miss… live in the present.”
She gave a small, bitter smile but said nothing. Without looking back, she tightened her hold on Shen Jueshu’s hand and walked away.
If I were someone who could just let things go, maybe I really would follow his advice. But I’m not that kind of person. I have to see things through.
Behind them, she faintly heard Uncle Li sigh.
Sui Yu’s expression grew even more tense.
On the drive home, Sui Yu was still behind the wheel. Shen Jueshu sat in the passenger seat, watching her closely. After a long silence, she finally let out a sigh and said, “What’s done is done. Maybe it’s time we just… let things be.”
The words weren’t just meant for Sui Yu—they were meant for herself, too.
Now that she fully understood the woman beside her wasn’t the one who had hurt her in the past… she couldn’t keep treating her as if she was.
This Sui Yu had done nothing wrong to her.
“I’m sorry,” Shen Jueshu suddenly said.
“Huh?” Sui Yu, who had been focused on the road ahead, instinctively turned to look at her, surprised by the sudden apology. Then she quickly looked forward again, remembering she was driving. Her voice stumbled slightly as she asked, “Why are you suddenly apologizing?”
Shen Jueshu wasn’t the kind of person who said sorry easily—at least not in Sui Yu’s impression.
Her expression was calm. She had made mistakes, and she wouldn’t run from them. If an apology was owed, she would give it without hesitation.
“For not giving you inhibitors during your susceptibility period. For slapping you. For marking you.”
That was just the top three. If she were to list it all out, the way she’d treated Sui Yu hadn’t been kind at all.
Hearing that, Sui Yu felt like the sky had fallen. In her mind, Shen Jueshu was the last person who would ever lower her head. But now she was sitting right there, calmly apologizing.
“You don’t have to do this. You didn’t know back then,” Sui Yu said softly.
She could understand everything Shen Jueshu had done. If their roles were reversed, maybe she would’ve done worse.
At the very least, if she were capable of locking someone up, she definitely wouldn’t be letting that person move around so freely afterward.
“Not knowing isn’t an excuse. If I was wrong, I should apologize.” Shen Jueshu’s voice was even.
Sui Yu suddenly broke into a big grin. She pulled over to the side of the road and turned to look at Shen Jueshu’s calm face. Reaching out her right hand between them, she smiled warmly. “Then… does that mean we’re friends now?”
Shen Jueshu looked into her eyes for a moment, then glanced at the outstretched hand. After a brief pause, she slowly reached out and shook it.
“Okay.”
Sui Yu’s smile grew even brighter. Suddenly, all the heaviness from the old house didn’t seem so bad anymore. Just like Shen Jueshu said—maybe going with the flow really was the better way.
She was already here, in this world. And with so many unknowns, perhaps staying calm and reacting as things came was her best move.
But her smile hadn’t lasted long before there was a knock at the window.
Startled, Sui Yu turned—and saw a traffic officer standing sternly beside the car.
“Didn’t you know you can’t park here?”
Sui Yu: “…”
A few minutes later, she climbed back into the car with a pitiful expression, holding a traffic ticket. When she got in, she saw the faint, nearly hidden smile at the corner of Shen Jueshu’s lips—and immediately looked more indignant.
“You saw him coming and didn’t warn me?!”
Sure, she hadn’t noticed because she was facing forward—but Shen Jueshu was facing that direction, wasn’t she?
Shen Jueshu’s tone remained cool, but there was a hint of innocence in it. “I honestly didn’t notice.”
She wasn’t lying. At the time, she’d been momentarily blinded by Sui Yu’s dazzling smile. And by the time she realized what was happening, the officer was already there.
Sui Yu sighed deeply, looking at the fine in her hand. She pulled out her phone and snapped a photo.
Her first ever traffic ticket. Kind of a milestone, in its own way.
“You planning to stay parked all day?” the officer’s voice came from outside again.
“Okay okay, we’re going!” Sui Yu scrambled to toss her phone and the ticket aside and started the car.
Shen Jueshu looked down at the phone that had landed on her side. With her thumb and forefinger, she carefully picked it up like it was evidence from a crime scene.
Sui Yu switched to auto-pilot mode and snatched her phone back from Shen Jueshu with a little huff.
She definitely looked ridiculous just now.
For some reason, her little pouty grumbles made Shen Jueshu want to laugh. In her usual calm voice, she said, “It’s my fault for not noticing. I’ll reimburse the ticket.”
Sui Yu: “…”
Was she short on a couple hundred bucks? No. But if someone offered to cover it, not taking advantage would be foolish.
She quickly pulled up her payment QR code and held it out in front of Shen Jueshu with a grin. “Two hundred.”
Shen Jueshu slowly pulled out her phone, scanned the code, and with a soft “ding,” the payment went through.
Sui Yu saw the notification and beamed again.
Shen Jueshu caught her expression in her peripheral vision and couldn’t help but feel thoughtful. Sui Yu really did have a simple way of showing joy.
Once home, the atmosphere between them was noticeably more relaxed. Now that they’d been honest with each other, the awkward tension wasn’t there anymore.
“So now that you know I’m not the original Sui Yu, are we still going through with the divorce as planned?” Sui Yu asked, wondering if Shen Jueshu might want to move the timeline up.
“Mm.” Shen Jueshu seemed to read her thoughts and added, “No one else knows yet. We still need a bit of a transition period.”
The people within the company hadn’t been fully identified yet. Now wasn’t the right time to suddenly divorce.
“Oh.” Sui Yu nodded.
But her tone made Shen Jueshu glance over. “You sound disappointed. Are you that eager to be rid of me?”
Sui Yu blinked innocently. “Aren’t you? I mean, we don’t have any emotional attachment. Wanting to move on quickly is normal, right?”
The sooner they divorced, the sooner she could stop being labeled a married woman—and Shen Jueshu could move on to find her fated Alpha. Win-win.
Shen Jueshu just gave a faint smile, not agreeing or disagreeing.
Seeing that unreadable expression again, Sui Yu sighed and headed into the living room to play video games.
The two went about their own business quietly. After Shen Jueshu had dealt with her work for the day, she looked toward the person still sitting cross-legged on the carpet, gaming.
“You’ve already been to the basement, haven’t you?”
“Hmm? You didn’t install cameras down there?” Sui Yu paused the game, surprised. “That’s not like you.”
Shen Jueshu: “…”
She glanced aside, her ears slightly pink. “I haven’t had time to check the footage.”
When she looked back and saw Sui Yu’s knowing smirk, her fingers curled slightly over the keyboard, a little embarrassed.
“I went to see him. He’s not exactly cooperative,” Sui Yu said, shaking her head.
“Then leave him there until he cooperates.” Shen Jueshu’s tone cooled. They wouldn’t go see him. Let him stew.
Sui Yu’s expression shifted slightly, a bit troubled. “But… is it really okay to just keep him locked up like that? Won’t his family start looking for him?”
A person disappearing like that wasn’t going to go unnoticed.
Shen Jueshu suddenly smiled—a calm, confident smile that sent a chill down Sui Yu’s spine.
“Do you think I’d lock him up without preparing for that?”
She had taken every possible angle into account. If she wanted to keep Gu Ying down there indefinitely—she could.
Sui Yu shivered. She quietly turned back to her game. Some people are just not meant to be messed with. Shen Jueshu was definitely one of them.
But still…
“If I ever do something to upset you,” Sui Yu said suddenly, “can you just… make it quick? I don’t think I could handle being imprisoned like that.”
Shen Jueshu froze for a second. Her gaze landed on Sui Yu’s overly casual expression.
“Why would you say that?”
Sui Yu looked down and said quietly, “If I ever went against you, I’d definitely lose. And the future’s long—who knows, I might make you angry one day. If you ever use what you did to Gu Ying on me… I wouldn’t be able to take it.”
It would break her.
Shen Jueshu was silent for a long moment, then asked softly, “Is that how you see me? Someone who abuses her power?”
“No, no!” Sui Yu almost jumped. She waved her hands frantically, her voice full of panic. “It’s not like that! I’m just… worried. I mean, after all, I’m still in the body of the original Sui Yu.”
Like the time she got slapped while Shen Jueshu was drunk—who’s to say in a half-conscious state, Shen Jueshu could still distinguish between her and the original?
Shen Jueshu’s face turned a little cold. Watching Sui Yu’s flustered panic made her feel like some unpredictable tyrant.
Her lips curled into a faint, bitter smile. “Don’t worry. If it ever comes to that… I’ll make it quick.”
Then she stood and walked away—didn’t even bother to turn off her laptop.
Sui Yu stared after her as her slim figure disappeared around the corner of the stairs. Her expression collapsed.
She could tell—Shen Jueshu was mad.
Was it wrong to bring this up?
Sui Yu’s face twisted with regret. Crap… am I gonna have to apologize now?
