Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 29.3
The movement rattled the chains binding his limbs, filling the quiet basement with the harsh scrape of dragging metal.
His eyes fluttered open slowly. When he saw who stood in front of him, they went wide in disbelief. As he took in his surroundings—and the chains holding him down—his panic rose sharply.
“Shen Jueshu! What the hell are you doing?!”
But Shen Jueshu didn’t react to his shouting. Her face remained calm, even cold.
“I’m doing exactly what you told Sui Yu to do to me. So?” she said coolly. “How does it feel? Wasn’t your method brilliant?”
Gu Ying’s usual elegant demeanor shattered. The “refined gentleman” persona fell apart as sheer terror crept into his eyes. He gritted his teeth.
“You can’t treat me like this! Aren’t you afraid my family will come after you?”
She pressed another button on her phone. His body jolted again.
“If they want to come, let them,” she said. “I wouldn’t mind if a powerful company came knocking—I could use the practice. Sharpen my blade a little.”
If the Gu family dared to retaliate, she’d make an example of them.
As the convulsions faded, Gu Ying lay limp, still feeling as if his entire body buzzed with electricity. Eyes bloodshot, he glared at her.
“You’re a monster… a venomous woman! A snake!”
“Someone like you will never be loved! You’ll only ever know what it’s like to be used and abandoned!”
“No one will ever truly care about you!”
But his words didn’t shake her in the slightest. Her face remained blank, as if none of the curses were meant for her.
“Instead of wasting your breath, why not think about how you plan to get through the days ahead?” she said as she toyed with her phone. “Are you going to tell me what your real goal is?”
Gu Ying turned away, biting down hard, clearly unwilling to cooperate.
“Hmph.”
Shen Jueshu gave a cold laugh. “That’s fine, Mr. Gu. I’ve got plenty of time. Let’s see how long you last.”
After saying that, Shen Jueshu tapped her phone once more and walked out, leaving the room.
Behind her, not a single sound could be heard.
After leaving the basement, Shen Jueshu sat in the living room on the first floor and picked up Sui Yu’s game console. But the speakers repeatedly played the sound of her character dying—it was obvious she wasn’t focused.
Eventually, she set the controller down and stared blankly at the TV screen. She still couldn’t understand why someone like Gu Ying had suddenly appeared in the situation between her and Sui Yu. In her last life, Gu Ying had never been part of their lives.
And now that Gu Ying had surfaced, she couldn’t help but wonder—who else was secretly watching from the shadows?
Time passed slowly. When Lily finally called, Shen Jueshu realized the sky outside had already turned completely dark.
After a quick reply, she ended the call, stood up, and stretched her numb legs. Bracing through the pins and needles, she went upstairs and knocked on Sui Yu’s bedroom door.
“What is it?” Sui Yu opened the door and frowned the moment she saw her.
She was still angry.
Shen Jueshu noticed immediately, though her expression remained calm. “Are you still going to that dinner you planned with your friend?”
As soon as she heard the reminder, Sui Yu refocused. There was no way she’d skip the chance to meet someone introduced by Shen Jueshu. Anyone close to her likely had real skill or influence. She answered without hesitation, “Yes. Give me two minutes—I’ll change.”
The moment she mentioned changing clothes, Shen Jueshu’s mind flashed—somewhat awkwardly—to the surveillance footage she’d once seen. Although she had quickly looked away, she’d still accidentally glimpsed part of Sui Yu’s body.
And from an Alpha’s perspective, her figure was… more than fine.
This sudden, uninvited thought made Shen Jueshu’s face darken for a moment. She turned and walked back to her own room to change clothes.
When she came downstairs again, Sui Yu was already waiting in the foyer. The moment their eyes met, Sui Yu was briefly stunned.
“What’s your relationship with this friend of yours?” she asked, unable to hold back. Shen Jueshu was dressed way too formally tonight. The casual outfit from earlier was gone, replaced by a sleek black dress. Her hair had clearly been styled too.
Shen Jueshu didn’t respond. She simply walked out and stood by Sui Yu’s car.
Sui Yu rolled her eyes. What is she now—addicted to being chauffeured? And she was acting like it was expected.
Still, faced with Shen Jueshu’s silence, she couldn’t bring herself to object. In the end, she accepted her fate, got in the driver’s seat, and started the car.
“Where to?”
“Huaiyang Pavilion.”
Sui Yu shot her a look. She still hadn’t forgotten the last time they came here—when Shen Jueshu had slapped her.
They drove to Huaiyang Pavilion. Shen Jueshu’s friend had already arrived. When they entered and saw a blonde, blue-eyed woman sitting inside, Sui Yu was surprised for only a moment before greeting her politely. After introductions, she learned the woman’s name was Lily.
Lily had a bright, friendly personality and seemed very easy to talk to. Once Sui Yu sat down, Lily leaned in with a grin and asked, “So, since marrying our Shen, don’t you think she’s absolutely amazing?”
Sui Yu almost clenched her teeth. Oh, absolutely. She’s a real piece of work. Never met anyone like her in my life.
“Yes,” she finally said with a strained smile. “Marrying her was my good fortune.”
She didn’t know Lily well and couldn’t just expose the real story between her and Shen Jueshu.
From the side, Shen Jueshu glanced over. She was clearly mocking her.
Sui Yu mentally noted another tally under “things I’ll get her back for later”, then quickly changed the subject and started talking to Lily about suppressants and related treatments.
Since the topic was too specialized, Shen Jueshu didn’t join in. Instead, she calmly sterilized the utensils, then began eating on her own.
As Sui Yu and Lily chatted more and more enthusiastically, they eventually exchanged contact information. Though they moved on to eating, they still kept up occasional bursts of conversation.
Shen Jueshu might not have understood the technical details, but she knew Lily’s expertise. For Sui Yu to talk with her so fluently and naturally proved she was truly knowledgeable—not just interested on a whim, as Shen Jueshu had once assumed.
The meal continued with the two of them deep in conversation, while Shen Jueshu remained mostly silent. She used the time to catch up on work on her phone. Even after she finished, the two were still talking.
She took a sip of tea, glanced at Sui Yu’s sparkling eyes, and wondered silently—Doesn’t she get thirsty from all that talking?
Finally, they started to wrap up their chat. If Sui Yu hadn’t refused, Lily might’ve dragged her off to a bar for another round.
Before they left, Lily leaned close to Shen Jueshu and whispered, “Your wife really knows her stuff. You got lucky!”
Shen Jueshu: “…”
Seeing her unresponsive, Lily sighed and added playfully, “You sure your pheromone compatibility is only 9%? You two seem to read each other like a book.”
The way they communicated with just a look—was that really possible with such a low match?
Shen Jueshu was just about to say don’t you trust the machines, when a thought struck her. The compatibility test had been done before the wedding—meaning it had been with the original Sui Yu, whose pheromone scent had been iris.
The current Sui Yu had changed her pheromones. After the replacement, they were now geranium.
So, what was their new compatibility rating?
